Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

Yesterday's Coney Island is a cute little hole in the wall located in the mostly empty plaza on the southeast side of Halstead and Grand River. It's kitschy decor, a mix of old advertisements, license plates, album covers, and other what-not, sets its atmosphere apart from your average Coney. Its prices do, too. You'd be hard pressed to find a Coney with more reasonable prices. So, are the prices low because the food is blech? NO! The food is tasty and wholesome. This is hubby's go-to place for lunch, not only because of the good food and good prices, but also because of the accommodating, quick service with a smile. If you live anywhere in the neighborhood, I recommend you try out Yesterday's Coney Island.

As a California native working here for the week, I was told by a friend that had lived in Michigan for a few years that I had to have some Coney Island when I was out here. Well, not knowing what the hell it was, I made it a point to keep an eye out for one while I was out here. Well, there are Coney places everywhere it seems! Staying in Farmington Hills this week, I hit up Yesterday's Coney Island and sat inside with my GF. We were ready to blaze a trail up to DTW to begin our trip home and we wanted to leave with a full stomach. We got inside and sat down. Our order was taken quickly, and our food arrived in short order too. I ordered a Coney with cheese and the chicken strip pita sandwich. My GF ordered the loose meat Coney and a Taco pita sandwich. The food was good, warm, greasy and loaded with flavor. Not a bad way to start the day. The thing that really warrants this place 4 vs. "just" 3 stars though is the vibe in the whole place. For some reason, this felt like a joint that has a very loyal customer base. It felt "home-y" inside, and the staff was very friendly. It was my first Coney experience, and I am really glad that I went.

The name of this Coney Island in a now nearly deserted strip mall in Farmington is sadly fitting. This, in better times in the northwest suburbs, used to be the Hellenic Coney Island. Back when the K-Mart parking lot next door was filled to the brim and its neighbors were more than just an Indian supermarket and a lot of "for lease" signs. But while there are multiple Coney Islands in Novi, where my parents live, this one in Farmington is my grandpa's favorite so I end up here basically every Thanksgiving weekend. And I remember black Fridays where there were waits for seats. Not this year. The place was empty. The food was as good as always and their specials are amazing. They have $.99 cent Coney Dogs - with a coupon - and there are plenty of coupons for this restaurant in the Novi News and Farmington Observer. On Friday and Saturday evenings, they have an all you can eat dinner special (without a coupon) as well. What I like about Yesterday's is that it's more of a traditional greasy spoon Coney Island than many others in the area. They have a lunch counter just inside the door where patrons still sit and talk to the register people. And the clenliness level is just divey enough to really feel like a diner as opposed to restaurants which just happen to serve chili dogs and gyros. My only issue with this particular Coney Island is its lack of a true veggie gyro. They have a vegetarian pita, but it's more for the health conscience than the meat-averse. Cucumber sauce comes only as requested. But, my goodness, the cucumber sauce at a Coney Island restaurant is a Detroit-area wonder. A tradition. A piece of yesterday that's still alive today. I just don't know if this particular Coney Island will be alive tomorrow.

I meet a old friend at this restraunt every Sunday now for several years. he staff knows what we want before we get there and it is always a pleasure to go. Breakfast for 2 just was upped to $10.28 this year but we are talking to the owner to bring it back down to my $5 each threshold. The cook is so good at how I like my breakfast that when he once left for another position, I tracked him down to see where he was. He came back within a month and all is good. It is the usual Coney / greasy spoon with good specials at good prices.
