First visit to Escanaba and we asked the front desk where to eat with TV viewing (football) - "just down the road at Bucks" - well, my husband and I headed over to Bucks and found a very cozy and warm cabin feel once inside the restaurant. Several TV's adorn the walls, with lots of hockey memorabilia mixed in with the occasional stuffed wild animal. My husband had the walleye which he enjoyed and I just had a burger....not bad but have had better. The menu is extensive and varied - full bar and I was impressed by only paying $4.25 for a pinot noir (only in the UP.) - it was not the best of Pinots but drinkable. No complaints on the service, as our waitress was very attentive. If your there to watch the Lions football on TV, forget it, as COMCAST cancelled the channel and was not available to patrons.....no fault of the owner of Bucks. Would recommend to visitors touring the area ....

I was left wanting... The good: I heard good things about this place and decided to try it out. The atmosphere was great! It was log cabin style, very clean, with a modern twist. My server "Becky L" was very attentive, informative, and very sweet. The beer was good. The sampler appetizer platter is a must have. I appreciate that they honor our service members with a discount. I like discounts! Lol! The bad: The main course. I'm a big guy and I like big food. I ordered a $19.99 plate of perch and shrimp. Now for 20 bucks I'm thinking that I'm gonna get tons of food and have left overs, right? Wrong. I got 3 small pieces of perch and 3 medium sized shrimp. I looked at Becky thinking there was some mistake and told her "I ordered the $20 plate. This looks like a half portion." She informed me that that was the $20 plate and apologized. The fat boy in me was extremely disappointed. I don't mind spending $20 on a plate of food, that's not the issue. The issue is that if I'm going to spend that type of money at a non-gourmet restaurant, then I better be getting enough food to need a doggie bag. Just saying. The food was tasty but it was not worth the cost. I'm giving this place 2 stars. End.

I've been here several times and only ever got their wraps. The buffalo chicken wrap was very tasty with nice crispy chicken. I kept getting that wrap every time I went and finally decided to branch out and go with something different...the bbq chicken wrap. It was pretty disappointing. The chicken was just a cooked chicken breast cut up into pieces with some bbq sauce. If the chicken was bready and crispy it would have made it soo much better.

We had a great dinner on a Friday night. My favorite was the walleye! The staff was excellent. Every person I saw working was hustling that night with great attitudes. They have a nice kids menu that must have had 8 different choices. The bathrooms were super clean also.

They had excellent food and a great atmosphere. Had the chipotle bacon chicken sand which. It was very good and the waffle fries were delicious! I would go here again if I was in the area.

We were given partial menus. We did not know this until we were half-way through our meal. It turns out that there is an appetizer menu. The bulk of the Menu (that we got) is $9.95. Burgers, salads, wraps - doesn't matter. Higher-priced items are available (pasta, steak, fish). Husband ordered the Grilled Taco Salad wrap. It was bland -- but it came with French fries (HUH?) and two pickles. Strange. It was supposed to come with chips and salsa. Never mind. I ordered the chili. Over-priced, bland chili. I asked for tabasco to try to save it. Didn't work. Daughter ordered from the kids menu. She wanted pizza. We expected a 'Tony's mini pizza' but she got an even more disgusting Sysco-knock-off. We couldn't understand why she wouldn't eat it. Then, we tasted it. OMG. How in the he** can an eating establishment serve this crap?!?! The wait staff seemed to have more important things to do. We were shocked to see a waitress carrying food to a table and sneeze at my husband as she walked past. Sneezes happen - but, really? And no, "Excuse me" or "I am so sorry." Of course, this same waitress went on to change the ketchup on the tables by carrying bottles in her armpit, under her chin, etc. Customer service is a joke. And there were hardly any customers! Food is gross. Service is dismal. Go to another town and eat - you'll save yourself money and have better food.

There are a few good places in Escanaba that I like to dine at while I am in town visiting family. The Buck Inn is one of them, mostly because of the nostalgia. This was one of my Grandpa's favorite restaurants, and eating here always reminds me of him. The Buck Inn is situated on the side of US-2, very easy to find and very close to a few motels. The decor is all about hunting, which makes sense if you've ever seen Escanaba in da Moonlight, a historically accurate film, to be sure. The food is good. My gramps always got the steak, but I've always gotten fish or chicken here. They have a decent selection of beer, although I've always ordered the root beer, which I see from another review that it is locally brewed. Yum! I love this place for the memories, and I feel closer to my Grandpa when I eat here. I hope the charm of this place continues to draw new customers as well as the old!

This is a great facility, but the food is pretty tasteless and clearly most of it is "off the truck". Our server was very untrained which didn't help. They have wine, but it is generic with no name listed - just the type - chardonnay, cab, etc. They are supposed to be open until 8, but they were piling chairs and sweeping all around us while we ate. Not good.

This is a great northern treasure. The Buck Inn is a Escanaba, MI classic. The have a menu that reflects the hunting history in the area. There are hamburgers on the menu but the size difference is marked by the animal in the name. The Doe Burger is 1/4 lb burger that comes with the works. The Buck Burger is 1/2 lb and the Moose burger is a full lb of beef. The root beer that is on tap by the way, is a local brew. The atmosphere of the place is a hunting loge. love the food here.

They have a pretty sizeable menu, from burgers to wraps to fish to steak dinners. I've never had a bad meal here, but it's nothing spectacular either. The service has never been an issue, and they're one of the few restaurants in town that has "better" beer on tap. The decor is what you'd think from the name - deer antlers etc everywhere. In the bar area they also have some sports memorabilia which is puzzling, but then again I don't go to a restaurant to look at the walls.

Worst service I've had in a restaurant in a LONG time. Waitress seemed completely disinterested, was no where to be seen most of the time, did not refill drinks, waited about 1 hour to get our food! When the food did arrive, it was pretty good. But there is no excuse for the lousy service. Never again!
