The Lighthouse Cafe is a great breakfast place located in cute little Elberta. Basic breakfast fare, friendly local staff, and decent prices. We've been there several times, and most recently: I got the corn beef hash, which was good. It comes with eggs and a choice of toast or pancake. My daughter got one of the combo options with hash browns, eggs, and a choice of toast or pancake; she got a chocolate chip pancake (cost extra). My daughter also ordered a chocolate milk, which is not on the menu. Everything was good. This is a nice local place for breakfast. We recommend.

I really haven't any idea on how this place was voted best breakfast of anything. My only guess is they left them on a deserted island for a couple days then fed them breakfast from here. It was fine, but mediocre at best. Everything cooked from the Sysco truck. If service hadn't been turtle like, they may have gotten three stars, but even to be greeted took forever. First and last time we will stop there.

We love this place for breakfast. The Early Bird special is my husband's favorite - 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, AND ham plus hashbrowns and toast or pancakes PLUS coffee - all for $6.95 before 9 am or $7.95 after 9. I had the cranberry walnut French toast and it was wonderful. It's small and clean and the staff is attentive. Perfect way to start another day in beautiful northern Michigan.

Quaint little local breakfast and lunch diner. It's not gourmet. But it is good and reasonably priced. The service was good and friendly. The split pea soup was delicious. We came here last year on vacation and had to come back again this year.

Actually, this so called "best restaurant in town" isnt even located in Frankfort and it sucked. Ive had better seaood chowder out of a Kroger soup can. Menu is quite boring with absolutely no thought put into it. For breaktfast find the nearest Dennys and youll be better off...at least they will have fresh fruit.

Nice place, friendly service, inexpensive breakfast food. Pancakes were a bit of a disappointment. While they were huge and fluffy, they tasted like dough. Literally tasted like I was eating flour. Not sure what the problem is, but maybe they should consider a new pancake batter recipe or something.

This small and unassuming place exceeded my expectations with hearty chunks of ham in my cup of bean soup and a crispy cheesy sandwich at a modest price.

Great breakfast! I've tried the Country Omelet - which is a large serving omelet with excellent sausage gravy on top. Also tried the Pirate's Bounty which is their everything in the sink style hash browns - fried country potatoes, bacon, ham, sausage, etc. Small place, great service.

We were recently in Northern Michigan for vacation and my dad suggested The Lighthouse Cafe so we decided to give it a try. This is not just an ordinary small town cafe. This is one of the best breakfast place I've ever been to and my boyfriend agrees. He wanted to come back for more every morning! And with the prices being so affordable we did end up eating breakfast there quite often. I am really picky about my eggs being cooked just right so I'm usually hesitant to order them at a restaurant. But I was on vacation so I decided to live a little and order eggs over medium. I am very particular because I like the yolk runny but the whites have to be cooked thoroughly. My eggs came out perfect! I was very pleased. My boyfriend ordered an omelette with country gravy and could not stop talking about it all day. The service was great! I can not say one negative thing about this place.

This is probably our favorite restaurant for lunch in the area. We live here in the summer and we go, on average, once every 10 days. We love the soups; especially the Split Pea, The Bean & Ham, the Seafood Chowder and the Cream of Asparagus. The Cafe is really a diner, with the usual breakfast, burgers & sandwiches that you would expect and just as good too. The wait staff is pretty stable and recognizes you from visit to visit and provide dependable, fast service. Our only knock is that about half the time the soup is not served hot enough to our liking, but the waitress takes it back, gives it a quick zap and brings it right back, all with a smile. Finally, this restaurant is very economical. We easily can have two cups (huge cups) of soup and split a sandwich with chips for around $12.

Stopped in at 1:00 for a late lunch. Just so-so food. Chicken soup was a bit flavorless, fish sandwich was okay but nothing special. I was expecting better from others' reviews but maybe that is because it is more of a breakfast place. It closes at 2:00pm. Server was friendly, more than willing to chat about area lack of rain. Very small town feeling and matching cheap prices.

The absolute best thing about this place is that it is open 7 days a week, rain or shine or snow, year around. This is a big plus in an area of norther lower Michigan which has the majority of its restaurants closed from November through May. Beyond that, the food is basic, good, and inexpensive. A couple of eggs, bacon, hash browns, or an omelet, plus coffee, for two, is around $12. And you get a chance to meet with some locals. In you are in or around Benzie County, a good, solid, simple breakfast place.

Great breakfast. Omelettes, hashbrowns, biscuits, pancakes, toast (homemade bread) and good coffee, too. And such reasonable prices. We've been here twice in the last week. Everyone ordered something different and it all was good. Good service too.

We ended up here when another nearby place we wanted to eat at was closed. That turned out to be very good luck for us! At first I wasn't sure, because the waitress didn't seem very friendly (I guesses that she didn't like kids, since our nine year old son was with us). But she warmed up to us (my son is a doll - everyone says so, not just his mom, lol). Oh my! My husband's omelet was perfect. My son's koegel Viena (if you're from The Mitten, you know what I'm talking about) was grilled just right. But the best of all was the PERFECT olive burger - lean, perfectly grilled patty, grilled bun, melted cheddar and grilled - YES GRILLED - green olives!! And they were overflowing onto my plate! I eat burgers maybe 3-4 times a year, so what a treat to get one so perfect!!!! I highly recommend this place. The funny part for me is Thr we rented a place very nearby a few summers ago and never went there. This time we were just passing by.
