So, I'm sitting here last night thinking I want to eat some Chinese food out of those white quart containers while sitting in my living room ... you know, like you see 'em doing in cop TV shows, Seinfeld episodes or the movies ... this is where East Wind comes in, ;). I'm pretty simple when I do Chinese carry-out ... House Special anything (rice, lo mein, et...), a pu-pu platter and the closest thing to Black Pepper Chicken on the menu pretty much comprises the majority of my orders. This was my first visit to East Wind in a long, long time and I have to admit, I was kind of impressed. It's true, the interior seemed different than I remembered and geared more toward carry out, but there's still booths & tables to eat in. I'd probably do it for a quick lunch while running errands, much like you would do with fast-food. But the food was of really good quality/value, better than your average Chinese carry-out, IMO, and more so than I expected. On-line ordering is available and they handle their own delivery vs going with Wok-to-You, which is an upgrade, IMO. Two thumbs up! :)

I've been there twice. I tried. It's just terrible. It's empty for a reason. Stale fortune cookies? Yeah they got them. Egg rolls that taste like they've been cooked 3 times in the fryer? Check. The most plain kung pao you can dream of. You betcha.

Tried this because I received a menu in the mail and it's right around the corner from me. Ordered the combo of almond boneless and sesame chicken. Let's put it this way: it's helping me on my diet. I can't even finish the food. Chicken is rubbery and the gravy has a strange soapy taste. What a waste of $10.00.

It appears they have "renovated" the interior, gone are the curtains and most seating now it seems to be heading towards carryout with the lighted picture menu above the register. However the food remains ok with the exception of the eggroll. Eggroll was greasy and filled with mostly cabbage, no sprouts or tiny shrimp. I had the almond chicken with kung pao chicken and wonton soup. Soup was flavorful and actually need some salt added which is a nice change from other wonton soups elsewhere. Both chicken dishes wer good but the kung pao could have used a bit more heat.

I've eaten carry out at this place numerous times and it is consistently good. The portions are always the same and the food always tastes the same. They are quick and pleasant enough. I wouldn't dine in because it's not that type of place to me. Hence, it is what I expect it to be and it meets my standards of Chinese food.

We decided to give East Wind a try when we looking for a new Chinese carry out place. The website was quite impressive and lead my to think this was going to be a really nice place. It's not, at least in terms of decor. They do have seating but the place is pretty dingy. And the carpet. Yikes! Hopefully that's high on list of improvements. The food was Good and the prices were reasonable. Someday hopefully the dining room will be able to match with the food and website but for now I'd just carry out.

So the ownership here seems to have changed again. The food seems very fresh but not as tasty as before, and no where near as good as East Wind before it was ever sold. The interior looks horrible, which is odd because it was just redecorated when the original owners sold only like 3 or 4 years ago. They should have just left it alone. I've never been more disappointed about a restaurant changing owners and recopies in my life.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
