Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

We stopped for lunch and we were very happy with the choice. I don't give anyplace 5 stars unless everything is exceptional so 4 stars from me is not an indication of being unhappy with anything. The food was good. I had the taco plate w/ bean and rice and it was more than I could finish and tasted really good. She had the Perch sandwich and it came with 3 full pieces of perch on a bun. It was also tasty and more than we could finish. The waitress was did a good job and service was quick. I would come back anytime I was in the area.

found this place on yelp and I am really happy we did. seemed really empty when we got there which made me really nervous. Food was fantastic, you can also get some local brewed beers!! good service.

We decided to try this restaurant on 5/8. The reuben and mushroom burger were average and reasonably priced. The service from our waitress was great. The manager, however, was a different story. Midway through our meal, he argued with an older couple who seemed upset about one of the charges on their bill that he was refusing to remove. Twice as he walked away from this customer's table and past ours, he mumbled a few nasty things about them under his breath. It was still loud enough for us to hear as the restaurant was nearly empty. If this is a typical day at Rico's, it's easy to guess why. This does not strike me as a place that values its customers. We won't be back.

Rico's was a very nice place to relax, have a beer, and have some good quality food! I was traveling from Wisconsin and they are located only a mile from the Microtel I was staying at. The staff was very friendly, and food was very good. I had some nachos and the pretzel burger as well. The burger was very good! And the nachos were a perfect appetizer. Very quite place while I was there, but that was what I was looking for.

I went in for lunch and they informed me they ran out of hamburger so I couldn't have that. I asked for barbecue sauce and they ran out of that as well. I had some guacamole which was obviously old and turning brown. Very disappointed and I felt bad for the waitress who was obviously embarrassed.

This experience at Rico's was below par. We sat at the bar ordered two burgers and it took close to 45 minutes to get our meal. My fiancé ordered his burger blackened, the cook did not know what blackened was and proceeded to make the burger well-done. After speaking with the manager and explaining that we were disappointed he did not seem to care. This was very unfortunate because previous times we had had a good meal there. The bartender who has only been there a week told us that the cook is sabotaging her tips and upsetting all the customers. Seems to me that the manager should CARE a whole hell of a lot more and do something about it. We may not return.

Just wanted to add... anyone that likes a good reuben every now and then... I've been getting them at a lot of places in the past few years Hands down the best reuben I've ever had is at Rico's. Try it and see!

Amazing wet burrito.... highly recommended!!! Waitress said it is a homemade sauce... saw other customers with sandwiches the size of their head... we will come back when we are up north.

I have been here several times before and had mediocre service and food every time. Tonight we came in because my boys wanted nachos and this is one of the few places I know of in Manistee to get them. We arrived and had 8 cars in the parking lot, not really busy. We walked in and waited 5 minutes to be seated. 10 minutes for someone to come to the table to take a drink order. When the waitress finally came to the table, we ordered right away. The waitress wrote it down and I made sure to tell her twice what we wanted. One boy didn't want tomatoes and one didn't want lettuce or onions. When our food came out 20 minutes later, the one without onions and lettuce was fully stocked with both. She took it back after a weird look from my son and double checked with us what we wanted, no lettuce or onions. 15 minutes later she brought them back out again with onions covering the whole plate. The whole time, the owner is walking around, all three of our glasses had been empty since before our food arrived, we got states from him and had to finally beg the waitress for refills. This will be the last time I eat here. I would rather go to the high priced casino buffet than eat mediocre food here.

Very disappointed in the menu. I have been going there for many years, and not sure what happened to the choices of food.

I've been here many, many times and always have a great experience. The servers are pleasant and the food is always great. I think I've had almost everything on the menu at least once by now. I've never been disappointed. Always super full when I leave and leave a nice tip for the ladies. Though they used to serve pita bread with the spinach avocado dip and now it's just tortilla chips. ;( Overall, it's a great spot in Manistee next to BlueFish.

Very good service. I had the liver & onion special and was very satisfied. The rack of ribs looked very good as well and a huge serving. Worth the drive across the river.
