This was my first time ever staying at a B&B. It is a completely a different experience. It truly is like being home. You have the ability to come and go as you please. You aren't bothered by staff. When you need assistance, all you have to do is call and they are there. It is very peaceful. Arriving early Saturday, my friends and I were able to choose from 2 of the four rooms (Green and Grey). Since I can sleep anywhere, I let them choose. They ended up in the Green and I had the Grey. Very cute place. From the outside, it is painted a very nice navy blue. The inside has the old charm (like my Grandma would decorate it). In the morning, breakfast is served. Amazing spread. We were offered Apple Pie (yes for breakfast), Spinach and Ham quiche, pecan cinnamon rolls (home made), yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, tea All occupants eat together, chatted, and really enjoyed the company and the food. Completely different experience than staying at a chain hotel. I would definitely go back!!!

+ great location, + nice innkeeper, + delicious breakfast When I was looking for a cute little B&B or charming hotel in the Saugatuck area I found by coincidence the Douglas House, a hidden gem and local favorite. The B&B is just around the corner from La

I have stayed at several b & b's and I have to say this one is a gem. The breakfasts are great , the room accommodations are nice and clean, and the owners are very friendly. The garden and sun room are gorgeous. It is right in the heart of Douglas close to all restaurants and bars but very quiet.

I've stayed here about 3 times, and it's a small and pleasant bed and breakfast located just a block off the main drag in bustling downtown Douglas! The proprietor is a sweet, talkative guy from Detroit who makes a killer breakfast. Once one of my friends got locked out in the middle of the night and had to wake him up, and he was super understanding.

If you're looking for a quiet place to stay when visiting the Saugatuck/Douglas area, you've got to go to the Douglas House. As everyone's said here, the owners, Ken and Rick, are very friendly and easygoing people. It's more casually set up than other places, though--when we turned up, there was a note on the door, so we stepped in. Also, be warned: they don't take cards. We stayed in the Grey/Garden Room during our visit, which was perfect for two people. Nice big bed (with a step stool, even!), incredibly quiet and peaceful, and as the rest of the reviews have said here, a terrific breakfast. I will be dreaming about those pecan rolls for the rest of my life, and the clafoutis were delicious as well. Would definitely go again! EDIT: Also, the info on the sidebar re: wi-fi is incorrect. They do have wi-fi available.

We just spent the weekend at the Douglas House B&B and had a wonderful weekend. We will definitely be back. Ken and Rick were great and they made a terrific breakfast each day. The house and cottage were decorated with wonderful antiques and a ton a great artwork. The beds were very comfortable. You can walk one block to downtown Douglas and I would recommend both the Everyday People Cafe and Wild Dog. Both were excellent. Downtown Saugatuck is only a 5 minute drive. We will definitely be back and stay at the Douglas House B&B.
