Tai HIng consistently delivers quality Chinese food to us in Indian Village. We're limited with the number of restaurants who deliver here, so it's great to have these guys deliver. Ordering is always a hoot... they actually are Chinese. And the food is always tasty and delivered in generous portions.

Tai Hing has treated me well. If you are looking for an especially authentic Chinese meal, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a place that can do the inner city Chinese takeout thing, this one is my favorite (And I've tried a few throughout the East Side). The menu has a range of chop suey dishes, including tofu. Awesome for this vegetarian. They don't use MSG. The portions are reasonably generous, too. When my family from Chicago came to visit, they were astonished that we got two huge plastic grocery bags worth of hot food for a little over twenty dollars. I got hooked on the egg drop soup from this place while I was sick last year. A giant vat of it is about $3.60, and it's nice and peppery. Noteables: It's cash only. It's takeout only. It has bulletproof glass, but I've never had problems here. Don't use the online ordering, because they don't check it--just call them. I keep the number in my phone, and if I'm going to be near this neighborhood I call in an order and then go pick it up.

This place wasn't too bad. It is located in a spooky area and they only take cash. My food was pretty good, I ordered the General Tao Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon. The Egg Roll wasn't good don't know what they did to ruin it but I'll pass on that next time. Crab Rangoon was nothing but cream cheese that also wasn't good, smelled delicious tho lol. But everything else was awesome gravy was also good.. I'll order again it's better than most and it's not 35,000 miles away.

I frequently have this delivered and I haven't had a problem. The fried rice is great and so is their orange chicken. I only have minor concerns; the egg rolls are not very good, the delivery time can take over an hour, and they are cash only. Besides these minor inconveniences this is place is just fine.

I would not recommending picking up, not the greatest area. The only problem is that a delivery will take 2 hours. So plan accordingly. Sometimes they randomly decide not to take deliveries for the day. That can be inconvenient. The food is typical takeout Chinese food, so if there is a place closer, the food is basically the same. They also do not take credit cards so basically the attitude at Tai Hing is the customer does not matter. If you are in a pinch for some Chinese it will do but I support local businesses who deserve support. Tai Hing does not.

Lol.... I get a kick out of the people who say this is a "spooky area", "I would not recommending picking up, not the greatest area" .... come on, I have lived around the corner from here for almost ten years and I walk over here to pick up Chinese take out in my slippers and bath robe. Tai Hing is has treated me well over the years and I know how busy they are.... and they are.... so I know the food is fresh. I think it is the best Chinese take out on the lower East Side and all along East Jefferson from downtown to the Grosse Pointes. I cannot speak for the delivery as I walk over and pick up, but the owners always remember what I will order. It's like a "Seinfeld" episode... I call, they see the number and remember what I will order. Tai Hing lady.... Hellow Me..... Hi, can I get a order for pick up ? Tai Hing lady..... Yes yes, you want an order of general tso's chicken extra spicy and a order of crab rangoon ? Me.... yes, all of those things Tai Hing.... okay, okay, I see you in 15 minutes, okay ? Me... yes, sounds beautiful.... It is not authentic Chinese... this is good hood take out.

I could of went with one star but didn't because I respect them operating in that challenged part of the neighborhood. Some food has been fresh tasting to me but far to frequently something taste old, either the food or the grease it's cooked in. If your in a pinch hit them up, the bourbon chicken is good and go with white rice for once, you'll thank me. The crab ragoon is some of the best in the area so that's a plus but as far as the rest of the menu go's it's not to hot.

So after I found a roach in my lo mein (see photo). They would only refund me 20 dollars of the 65 bill. These people are too stupid to run a business and too unsanitary to cook.

I've gotten take out here a few times, mostly because it's close to home and inexpensive. The General Tso's Tofu is good for vegetarians, but could be a bit spicier. The sushi rolls are usually pretty good and are large in size. There have been a few times when I have tried to order and they've been out of a particular ingredient (tofu, avacado), which is disappointing. Overall, it's fairly good and cheap food. If you're looking for the best Chinese food in Detroit, go to Shangri-La in Midtown.

Worst service ever. They promise delivery in 40 to 45 minutes. I called after an hour and was promised we'll be there in five minutes. Two hours later it's still not here. The place sucks.

After a busy day, we were delighted to find a menu for a "new" chinese restaurant that actually delivered to Grosse Pointe tucked into our screen door. It took no argument to place an order. The delivery was reasonable, especially afterward seeing how far they actually are from us. 35 minutes brought us Very hot food, and a nice delivery driver. The food was very good, and the meat quality was above most places around. Their claim is "100% White-Meat" and it was. This was our first try. The menu we received mentions in bold print "ORDER ONLINE". tonight we did. Suspicious after 35 minutes, I called to confirm their receipt of the order, to which they replied that internet isn't working, and they did not. So I placed the order the old fashioned way, which required some finagling to get them to accept the online special I was given. The guy on the phone said no problem 20 more minutes and we can make your delivery. I was OK with this. 90 minutes and 3 phone calls later, the driver showed up. Offering hardly an apology, and no offer for my inconvenience, he could only say, "What are you doing...do you want the food or not?" Hungry, we accepted the food. Still the food was quite good Based on food alone I'd give this place a 4 star review, but customer service, experience and inconvenience drops this dramatically. Tai Hing...Don't canvas a neighborhood with promises you can't keep. ONE MORE THING...Don't go with the plastic in your hand, they only accept CASH...on Delivery OR Take-out.

The Tai Hing truly is a hole in the wall (mostly because it is just take out). Try not to be put off by the bullet proof glass, because the food is really good. The Hot and Sour soup is delicious. We recently tried the garlic shrimp... it was really good, but be prepared for the dragon breath afterward! And the spring rolls compare well to any other I've had. Call ahead for your order - - we generally add about 10 minutes to the time they say it'll take to prepare it.

There is absolutely nothing express about this place. The food is mediocre and the server could care less whether you have a drink or heaven forbid you need anything else. Unless you enjoy poor service, Do yourself a favor and try some place else.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
