I have always loved Nemo's - it screams the perfect Detroit sports bar, but it wasn't until I brought a group in, did I TRULY appreciate the place. I was taking a group of 30 to see a matinee of ERNIE, the Play and decided a lunch stop at Nemo's first made the most sense. From the initial phone call, I was given GREAT service and attention. Little did I know, Nemo's has a back room (who knew? NOT ME). We were escorted straight from our bus into this private room. The non-gameday menu is fairly lengthy, another nice surprise. I was a little nervous when only one waitress was in charge of our group, but she was AMAZING and the other staff members pitched in to make sure everyone was given speedy service and attention. Our group of nearly 30 went away extremely happy - great service and prices and yummy food off a diverse menu - enough to make everyone happy!! I would encourage anyone to check out Nemo's for a pre or post game beverage and a bus ride to/from the game, but now I would also encourage you to try Nemo's when you have a group to feed!

The food wasn't up to par, but the ass was tender and juicy. Being a lions fan makes sucking ass second nature. She made me eat the ass. Love you FAM.

Whenever my wife and I come downtown for a Tigers or Wings game (not yet have had a chance to go to a Lions game), we always park here in the free parking lot behind the bar, get the $3 shuttle bus. This place is a great all around sports bar in general, and while you don't get the ambiance, comfort of booths, or high-class food and drink, they do the basics really well. (Pro Tip: instead of paying for beers while pregaming, come tailgate in the parking lot, bring your own beer, sit in the parking lot tent area to order some burgers and fries for dinner and then carry them back to your tailgate. Or, find some friendly dudes tailgaiting that may offer you food leftovers as what happened to us this time). The burgers and fries at Nemo's are barebones basic, but hot, greasy and delicious. I would compare them to just a little less better than Miller's in Dearborn in the simplicity and natural flavor. The fries are also simple crinkle cuts that you probably can get at Costco, but when they come piping-hot and freshly salted out of the fryer, you can't beat the combo for a good cheeseburger and crispy fries. While I have yet to venture into other food items, you're not really going to Nemo's for a gastronomic meal are you? Beers are mostly domestic, generic brands with a few bottles of craft beers if you're slightly adventurous. Game days usually mean plastic cups of draft beer and the prices are a little higher than bringing your own, but this place definitely beats paying $10-20 for parking and having to deal with the traffic going home. You can just jump on Michigan Ave right out of Nemo's and get wherever you need to get to, as long as you know where you're going (or have GPS). Or head to Slow's or Mercury Burger Bar for some postgame noshing.

Many of us Detroiters were worried when Tiger Stadium closed in 1999 and we figured Nemo's would shortly follow. Thankfully with a large fleet of game day shuttles for Detroit area sporting events, Nemo's lives on! Nothing tastes better than a Nemo's burger before or after a baseball game, fresh off the grill with some of the grease making the bun ever so shinny! While it's extremely difficult to find a place to sit on a game-day, the atmosphere and experience of riding the bus down to Comerica Park is second to none. You can't beat free parking and $3 shuttle tickets and the route the bus takes gets you out of post game traffic very quickly, as the drivers know all the back ways! Ranked as one of the top sports bars in America by Sports Illustrated, this place won't wow you with luxury or technology, but breaths history and remains: A Detroit classic.

Went to Memos after a football game. Surprised to see a bottle of Bud Lite was $5. Ordered a hamburger which was overcooked but edible. Waitress was very unfriendly and never asked if we wanted another beer. Left and walked to Casey's Bar for a $2,75 Bud Lite. Also Casey's has a Free shuttle to stadiums. Nemos charges for the ride.

Nemo's is the 3rd best sports bar in America. I agree with whoever ordered that sign (or if there was real voting) This is a "Old- Tigers Stadium" bar that was THE bar to go when that historic place was open. Now, Old Tigers Stadium is no longer and now this bar is there on its on it next to a field and some other empty buildings. If you're a Tigers/Wing/Lions fan and like bars with stories (if you're on yelp! i'd say yes, go here) ... you'll love this place. However, note, there is nothing else around. Wood Floors, Wood wrap around bar, 70's and 80's feel, with newspaper clippings of big Detroit sporting moments and some famous Detroit Celebs. It seems like hamburgers/diner smell. There is a open view kitchen where they have burgers and dogs for sell. Even though this location is not near the current stadium Nemo has busses to suttle people downtown. If you're staying at a downtown hotel, pay the $10 and get cab down here. Its a cool place. Anytime I come in town for a sporting event downtown Detroit again, Local Business! Support it and keep it open for generations to come!

If this was just about the burgers it would be 5 stars without a doubt, it's just the other things. Such as plastic cups for the beer, yuck. maybe on opening day or something but everyday? I don't think so. Secondly having to order your food at the grill and drinks at the bar, then having to bring your own drinks and half the food to the table yourself. They will bring your burgers to you, but that's it. This sucks when you are there with a large party trying to bring back 10 beers or so. The biggest thing is that they do not accept plastic for payment but have a ATM that they charge you $2.50 to use, yes they own the ATM so they are collecting the $2.50, that's just bush league. When we were leaving I did not tip, and was given a wheres my tip look by the person who brought my burger to me. Why should i tip someone when I did 98% of the work the waitress is supposed to do? Heck I got everything else I could have grabbed my burger. Sorry Nemos, you lost me as a customer. I'll miss your burgers

First & foremost, Nemo's gets props for just being the same old awesome bar that it's been for a long time, us old Detroit peeps love that shit. We went on the Tour de Troit bike ride today, and the staff at Nemo's helped make the day great. They helped us with parking & did a kick-ass job of serving us beers after the ride. Go see these guys - and tip them well - they are awesome at making you feel at home.

Stopped here on a beautifully sunny day in October for a beverage before shooting some pix of the old Michigan Central Station. Since it was noon in Detroit, I thought a beer was in order. I couldn't decide, so they let me "taste" all of the options until I found one I liked. This is right up my alley. How can you know if you don't sample? I'm all about sampling. After turning my nose up at Beach Bum by Goose Island, I finally settled on Shiner Bock, a lovely amber lager, or so I was told. Since I judge beer on the scale of "ick to yum" the aforementioned details meant nothing to me. It was definitely a "yum." Sounds German, really from Texas. A side note on Beach Bum, "ick" is where it rates. I think I said something like, "it tastes like a pissy American beer." Here's the most amazing thing: my fancy pants beer, and the Guinness ordered by my more traditional friends were only 4 bucks each! I kept saying, "are you sure?" I might be jaded, but ya gotta love Detroit. I didn't actually eat the food, but people in our group seemed to be chowing it down rather heartily, so I'd say it's a safe bet that it's edible, if not even, "yummy." The staff was extremely friendly and laughed at my lame jokes, were Michigan fans, and as I've already said, let me try all the beer. They rock!

Beer, Drinks Hamburgers and Chicken. An Iconic go to place before a ball game.

If you want to see a place that is very characteristic of what corktown used to be and had its roots firmly planted as a Detroit fixture, it's Nemo's. If you're looking for a place where you can experience Detroit and have a classic Detroit style bar burger and a cold Strohs, it's Nemo's. If you're a Yelper with a touch of unrealistic expectations, you might want to reconsider, because this place is as real and as authentic as it gets. A Detroit Classic.
(5)Pete D.
Cool place A detroit staple known for it's burger's but it's just a cool place to set and look at the old timer drinking and laughing having a good time. The food is good but not great simple and fairy priced. Nice staff.
(3)Kitty C.
Stopped by for carryout. Couldn't get anyone to take my order at the bar for several minutes, even though there were 3 people standing behind the bar doing nothing. Food was forgettable. Complained to the manager via email and explained everything in detail, no response. I'll never go back. It's interesting how there's some ridiculous comment on any Restaurant Review site if you say anything negative about Nemo's. I highly suspect they're being made by a Nemo's employee. For my (above) comment they said it's a bar, so what do I expect? Well, I expect (Good) Service! It's apparent that Nemo's feels justified in any customer service they provide, even if it's bad, or in my case - Nonexistant!
(1)Jason H.
Beware. It's cash only and there's no sign up saying so. You get hit with the old 'there's the ATM' gambit and of course the fees are atrocious. Beer is expensive. Food is mediocre. Another example of "old Detroit" greed with a careless attitude toward customer service. It's a shame. This place won't make it through the new wave of entrepreneurs coming into the city.
(1)C. A.
What a classic place. The service, food and atmosphere were great. This place has a lot of Detroit history. Famous for their cheeseburgers, I had to have one and it was excellent. I would definitely recommend.
(4)Irwin F.
Never again! Their disdain and lack of respect to provide proper crowd control on Parade Day is flat our pathetic. There was not organization - just ppl on top of ppl. A fire would have KILLED many people that would be stuck and sardine'd int here. On top of that - it was so OVER crowded - guys were urinating in cups vs trying to get to the bathroom and then spilling it on the floor. Congrats Nemo's - YOU SUCK!
(1)Kevin R.
I used to like this place. They treat locals like shit
(1)Alexandra K.
Came in here on a whim and ordered a round of beers with friends. Seems like your local dive bar but the waitress was friendly and that always counts for something in my book. Didn't experience enough time here to accurately review much else about it!

Ok so this place got 4 stars because sometimes its not just about the food. If a place can stay open for over 50 years...ya gotta give them some extra credit for that alone. As soon as you walk in the door you notice all the photos on the walls. There are framed front page newspaper articles on winning sports seasons and you just feel 'at home" as a Detroiter. The ordering is kind of unique. There is a counter at the entry where you order your food. I think you pay up front but not certain. I was lucky enough that day to be the guest of a client who insisted he pay. I must admit it was my first time here. We were then walked around the corner to the bar area and seated at table. You notice the original tin ceiling and walls right off. It has that vintage old bar feel. We sat down and the bar tender came around to take our drink order. I ordered a coke and my gracious host ordered a Guinness Stout. Our drinks came and the bartender informed us that the first Guinness was paid for by a gentleman at the bar. When I questioned my client if he knew the man, he said " never seen him before in my life". It was later learned that particular patron was buying the first round for anyone ordering Guinness Stout that day. I thought...pretty cool. My kinda place. We had ordered cheese burgers. I got French fries as well. I said medium when I usually order a burger medium well. It was medium . It was a pretty damn good burger. We split the fries. They were hot and cooked to perfection. The waiter was on spot to fill my coke when it got close to empty even though he was across the room on the other side of the bar. Another Guinness was ordered and we sat and glanced around the room looking at all the history while we enjoyed our lunch. Keep on keeping on fellas. I will try and make my way back here again soon.

One of the downtown bars that has free parking and $3 shuttle service for Tigers, Red Wings, and (I assume) Lions games. Gets crazy busy prior so it's hard to order a beer or food prior to the game. Got a burger and a small beverage before making the trek back home- they both hit the spot. Very enjoyable, will repeat and recommend!
(3)Sam A.
This place is horrible and I mean it! They accept only cash, they have no warning of this, the waitressing was inconsiderate and rude. We paid $61 for 4 cold and tasteless burgers, 2 watered down beers, and 6 tickets for the shuttle to the Tigers game. We waited 30 minutes for our food. Never again will I return.
(1)Kari C.
Great atmosphere. This is the kind of place you know locals go to and have been frequenting for years. The bartenders were friendly and quick. Their menu is small- burger, chicken, fries but I was happily surprised about the quality of burger I ordered. Go here before a Tiger's game and take the shuttle for only 3 dollars! This is a must experience for any sporting event in Detroit.

I'm a fan of Nemo's. Maybe because it's been there as long as I've been alive? I wasn't a fan until last year though. I'm not a big bar person, and until i started hanging with my male co-workers and having lunch- that i discovered one of the best burgers ever. So yeah- the drinks are relatively cheap, the service is relatively fast, the ordering system is way strange. but the food is good. You enter, order your food at the back counter, order your drink at the bar put your number on the table you pick, the food finds where your sitting, when your done you pay at the bar. CASH ONLY. They have an ATM. Took the BF there for the first time yesterday and had him order my favorite. The Bacon And Blue Cheese Burger with Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, and an order of Fries. A whole big ass basket for one person. I dont know what it is- the oil? But why are their fries so good? For being plain ass fries? Look- you can get a bigger, fancier, maybe more inexpensive burger somewhere else. But it's a neighborhood institution, the service is quick, the food is good. Try the burgers, try the Tuna Salad! have the fries! Oh and the Chili is good! Beware that is you go at after 2pm, only the grill is open which means only burgers and fries, nothing else.

A night out on the town that had so many unexpected twists and turns. This was one of them. We originally wanted to go to Pizza Papalis in Greektown but because of the Garth Brooks concert it was a madhouse down there. We switch plans to Ottata Via. It was a two hour wait! We ended grabbing a table for four here and snag three extra chairs for a complete party of 7. They don't have an extensive menu. Only three items- a burger, chicken sandwich, and fries. The burger was not bad but the fries were a bit sad. You can tell its those frozen fries that they heated up. The worse part of the night was the service. I get that it was a madhouse but even when it died down it was still bad. After dropping off our food we never saw our waitress for the rest of the night. We had to wait forever to flag someone down for the check and even when we did she forgot about it. We finally got the bill, placed down the cash, waited a bit and decided it wasn't even worth our time. So we left with a 10% tip included. I don't think I will come back. Plenty of street parking. Also two stalls in the ladies restroom. Check to see if there is toilet paper before entering the stall. There are extra rolls by the sink.
(2)Norm S.
This little place was pretty fun. Very mixed age groups and some great music, (do-wop) was here for a retirement party and the service was great. Bar maid was friendly and remembered what everyone drank which made things super chill. It was a little too dark inside and a car was broken into in their parking lot so that was concerning. I had fun, I'd recommend checking this place out if you're in the area.
(3)Paul S.
CASH ONLY. You've been warned. Oh, they have an ATM with a nice fee. No wait staff. Order your own food. Go to the bar to get your own drink. Over priced average food. Decent greasy burger and fries. Miller's in Dearborn are much better. Poor beer selection. Dirty outdated bathroom. Trip hazard flooring and uneven drop offs between bar sections. It's an old building.... It's got character.... That is all this place has going for it.

So, the date and I were downtown hanging out Saturday night and wanted to grab a bite to eat. We initially wanted to go to Green Dot Stables, but the wait was horrendous (an hour and a half!) and we decided to come here since it was down the road. We've seen and heard about this place before. During baseball season, (and probably all sports seasons) you can come here, buy a drink and get shuttled into the games for free. I think you can also tailgate here as well, but since we don't go to games, we wanted to come here and eat to see what all the hype was about. The place isn't bad. It seems to be pretty popular with a few different crowds, and we stopped in for a quick bite to eat. the front bar area was packed, and we got seated in the back dining area where it was much quieter and less crowded. Bonus for being able to hear each other! We asked for a menu and were told they were already on the table. It was a little sign with 4 items to choose from. A burger, a sandwich, some fries, and something else. I don't know if the menu would have been different if we sat in the front bar area, but we seriously wanted to eat. Is this place strictly a bar? Does the menu change depending on what's going on? Is there a menu at all? We don't know. Our server was awesome and took care of us for the most part. Great staff overall and no complaints there. Place is clean, cute with ample parking and seems to be quite popular. We don't have a problem with this. But, menu aside, we kind of felt jilted. For starters, if we're not going to a game and seriously want to just eat, why do they not have a menu? Also, near the end of our meal, we were asked if we wanted a shuttle to the hockey game. Bonus for making sure we were taken care of, but we weren't going to the game! We were hear to eat and hang out! Mind you, we were here between the hours of 5 and 7PM on a Saturday evening. Normal dining hours on a Saturday night. They started putting chairs up in the back dining area about 6:30ish, because we got out to our car at like 7:15-7:30 ish to go to the casino. They let us stay as long as we wanted, but why were they shutting the back down? The food was okay, and the beer was fine, I just don't get this place. I don't know that it would be as popular (at least with us) if they didn't offer "free" shuttle service with the purchase of a beer (or two.) I mean, it's not a bad spot, don't get me wrong. Place offers a great place to hang out at prior to a game, but we weren't overly impressed as non game go-ers. I would consider this place if I was going to a ball game or what not, but to just sit and hang out at, I'm not sure. Seems to be more of a sports crowd, which is fine, but what about others? I would say I would come back if I were going to the Tigers game but not to dine or socialize. We did have a great time here, and were able to sit and chat, but the menu was slim to eat off of. Anyways gotta love Nemo's and I won't be to harsh on a business downtown trying to make it happen. Going to give credit where credit is due. The food here was good, prices are awesome and we did have a good time. Would only come back here if I was going to a Tigers game in the future for some drinks and a shuttle ride.
(3)Victoria M.
Very good burger and fries, and nice, friendly service :) we got our food quickly and got lots of refills on our drinks. I would definitely come here again
(5)Hunter C.
Love it . Watching Bear's game amongst many other sporting events on many TVs. It reminds me of my east coast roots. Super friendly, with great burgers, sports, buses to local events and booooooze. 5th best sports bar in the country ,
(4)Dan P.
Good: great but simple fried burger, watching a local game, ok prices Bad: cash only, burgers & fries only, limited selection of beer... Nothing local, no checks Great burger, decent prices. Complete lack of formality. Feels like Detroit. Went to MGM with friends and was hungry and wasn't paying their stupid prices for crappy food. Plus I was in Detroit for 2 days and wanted local. Found it here. We walk in and there were probably 10 people in the bar watching a Tigers game. Locals mostly, bartender knew most of them by name and they loved the Tigers. A lot of tvs for the small space and they loved the Tigers, cheering and all. Looking for a great place to have a beer (not a big selection, I think like 6 or 8, and a couple taps were out) and watch a local game with like minded people... This place is perfect. I was here for food though and when I ordered my beer I asked for the food menu. Bartender says, "it's big". Then he comes back with the beers and says "we have burgers and fries". It's all they serve. My wife says "ok, we'll have the burgers", guy says "Swiss or American" my wife asks, "do you have cheddar". Guy says, "American?" Burgers came out and it was a fantastic burger. Which it better be if that's all you serve. Greasy as can be, but a burger that would be worth dying for. Fries were in separate baskets and big portions. Good but not amazing. We ask for a check bartender says "ok, 7, 10, 13, 28"... I don't know what he was adding or how he arrived there but I figured $14 a piece sounded about right for a burger, fries and a Leine's Summer Shandy. Tried to pay with a card... They don't take them, there's an ATM in the back. Luckily I was gambling and had cash. Overall liked the place a lot but it's quirks earned it 4 stars.
(4)Naveen N.
Had a burger here while watching a wings game. It's clear the area isn't what it used to be with tiger stadium no longer present but that doesn't take away much from the intrinsic value within the walls.
(5)Chris M.
What can you say? Nothing a local doesn't know but I can tell you that after traveling through South America for 2 weeks, the first place I raced to from the airport was here. Burgers are a rare commodity in South America, let alone a good one. Once you sit down at the bar and watch the magic of the old flat top start working, it is almost therapy. I've had expensive meals and maybe because good food is good food I'm happy to throw 10 dollars down for a burger, fries and beer and get the same satisfaction that I would had I hit a high level place in Vegas or wherever for several hundred. Whether its the burger, the smell, the atmosphere, the Billy Martin poster in the bathroom, home is home and Nemo's is always home for many many people.
(4)Michael C.
Five stars is basing Nemos on what it is. Sports bar and old.school. A lot of people do t like the plastic cups and no credit card thing, but it makes sense to me why they use plastic cups. The burgers and fries here are amazing and while the menu is limited, it's delicious. The staff are amazing and when this place is slammed they do a great job.
(5)Eldwin L.
only reason for 3 stars is the convience of the shuttle on game days although 3$ for a ticket, best tip! be careful if you are a regular there are diffrent prices durring the evenet or game days they over charge wich seemes to be a theme in the reviews , i also can stand with money out and the bartender just looks at you and looks away if he does not want to walk to the end of the bar, it is a detroit staple for sure and i wish it success . just dont appricate the price gouging and lack of service wich it varries and seemes to be mabyee 2 bartenders , the others are ok , and burgers are fair. bus rides are fun and fast "DONT FORGET TO TIP YOUR DRIVER LOL"
(3)w k.
We are in town for the NHL winter classic and came to Nemos on a recco from a friend. What a treasure! It instantly reminded us of our favorite bar back home and the bar tenders were instantly friendly. Not knowing of the shuttle we were pleasantly surprised to learn that we could park (for free!!) and ride the shuttle ($3 round trip!!) to comerica park for one of the pre-winter classic games. We had a few beers before the game and came back afterwards for the famous burgers and a post game drink. The bartenders not only remembered us, but welcomed us back so warmly! It makes us want to come back every day for the rest of our trip. This is a must visit when you come to Detroit.
(5)Ashley H.
Good food, horrible service. It's a lot of fun to come here before a game and catch the shuttle, but if you're running any bit behind schedule don't think you can come here and "eat real quick". There's nothing quick about this place. Our server was unfriendly and slowwwwww. Maybe that's because she had 20 tables. I wish their beer selection had some Michigan brews on the list. I think there might have been one beer from Frankenmuth on draft but that's it. Otherwise just your usual corporate macrobrews.
(3)Erin D.
I like this place period. I love the neighborhood, I love the vibe and I love the fact that the place is a virtual Detroit sports museum. Although we didn't eat we did drink and take the shuttle to the Tigers game. For $3 per person you can't beat it. I'd rather spend my time here than at places like Hockeytown. I heart you Nemos!
(4)Angela F.
I am taking a star away. I still think the burgers and atmosphere are great, but I got the fish n chips special yesterday and have to say it was a "meh". I was told on the phone, 10 minutes to pick up. I arrived 10 minutes after I called (I checked). Waited. Waited. Waited. 30 minutes on the actual clock before it was ready. I actually watched them put my fish in about 10 minutes after I got there. No, they were not particularly busy yet, I called early so I could be back at work before noon. I wasn't. Staff was friendly as always though. Liked the slaw and liked the fries. The problem was that the fish was doughy. Not huge on breading to begin with so I knew I was taking a chance I might not like it (wouldn't have knocked them down for that - personal pref and all) but I will say they didn't overcoat it - just didn't cook it through either. One of the reasons I usually don't do fish n chips is that a lot of places with batter-dipped fish do the same. I would have gone down to 3 stars if I had less of a positive general impression.
(4)John X.
Nemo's is a Detroit original. Been around for a long time. It's located right down the street from where old Tiger Stadium usta be. Nemo's has had to reinvent itself over the past 10 years since Tiger Stadium closed. They survive because of a very loyal clientele who take advantage of Nemo's shuttles to all Red Wing, Tiger and Lion's games. The shuttles are fun and convenient - $3.00 bucks round trip! Nemo's has excellent burgers and a great beer selection. The bartenders are attentive and the atmosphere is a Detroit twist on the sports bar concept.
(4)Monte B.
This place is the best at what it is... Pure Detroit sports bar. Nothing fancy! Simply old school and if your coming here and expecting gourmet food and Michigan craft beer and giving 2 stars cuz your not getting it then your an idiot. There is no better place to go before/after a Tigers, Red Wings or Lions game and grab a burger and a few bevies. If your lucky enough to get your burger cooked behind the bar by the bartenders, your in for a treat. Enjoy it for what it is... Laid back beer drinking and burgers. If your looking for a hostess to great you and a chatty BFF waitress to serve you I recommend somewhere in Northville or Birmingham. BTW, Don't miss the St Paddy's day parade at this place.
(5)John C.
I started going to Nemo's last year for the shuttle to Tiger/Wings games. This in my opinion is this bars strong suit. It beats having to cough up $15-$20 outside the stadium. I do also like the atmosphere although a bit cramped. If you plan to catch a game and use the shuttle get there a little early if you want to hang out in the front of the bar. If not, you will have to have your beer in the back of the joint which feels like a mini K of C hall. I spent St. Patricks day here and was a little disappointed. They do put on a good party (outside tent, band, port-a-johns etc..) but paying $5 a beer? C'mon... I think on St. Pats day the potential would be there to make a lot of cash without gouging us...
(3)Brian T.
I highly recommend this bar if you want to spend a lot of money for average food. The burgers were average, the waitress was unpleasant, and the drinks served in small plastic cups were outrageously expensive! I had two margaritas(the plastic cup was only 2/3 full w / ice) and they were 12.00 each. My girlfriend had a martini in a plastic cup that was over 16.00. Our bill for two burgers with fries, a chicken sandwich, a lemonade, and the three bar drinks was 59.00(70.00 w / tip). I will NEVER go back! Update: Nemo's did write a letter to apologize and sent a certificate for $25.00. They did the right thing. I will go back.
(1)Brian S.
This is my favorite bar in Detroit now that Lindell AC is gone. I remember sitting at the bar and watching game 5 of the 2003 ALDS between Boston and Oakland and remember Damen Jackson and Johnny Damon running into each other at full speed during that game. Lots of Tigers memories in this bar as well. Nemo's has excellent food and the beer doesn't cost that much.

In honor of Spring Training, I thought I'd tell you about what a great sports bar Nemo's is! Allow me to preface this by stating that I'm not huge into sports bars, on the whole, usually because they're cheesy. I usually end up watching games at bars I like for other reasons. such as music and the vibe. This is the original baseball bar in Detroit. It's about 2 blocks away from the old Tiger Stadium, and I have fond memories of going here for pre-game beverages when the Tigs still played at the Corner. The owners are great, the beer and liquor selection is extensive, and the prices are fair. What makes Nemo's truly special is the history of the place and connection to the team. It's been around for a long time, and has collected newpapers, memorabilia and photos from thousands of important moments in Tiger baseball - it's like visiting Detroit's version of Cooperstown! If you love baseball, you will love this bar. Interestingly enough, this bar does more business before the games than it does for watching the games themselves(Opening Day excepted, which is a mad house). This is most likely because it's no longer close to the ballpark itself, and the TVs are standard size and mounted to the walls. I actually prefer that to huge screens sometimes, as there were no flat screen plasma monsters when I watched Tiger games on tv as a kid ... baseball's very much an historical sport, in my book. They offer a shuttle for $3 to Comerica Park before and after the games (which you can drink on), plus tip ... which is mandatory. I would tip anyway (I used to tend bar, for crying out loud), but when they basically force you to do so, I think it's kind of tacky - why not just include it in the shuttle price? But it is very convenient and can save you a ton on parking downtown. The food here is great - the burgers and fries are reaaaally good! And they have Stroh's, which makes me very happy. All in all, this is the gold standard for sports bars - definitely check it out during baseball season. I like it so much that sometimes I do go to catch a post-season game or during the off-season, just for the ambiance and to immerse myself in baseball at the time of year when I can't go to the ballpark itself; it's that kind of spot.

Cute bar in Corktown with a very "Michigan" feel - by that I mean the bar is small & simple, the people are friendly, the decor is primary Detroit sport related, and the prices are cheap (love that a beer in MI is rarely above $5, even for a Guinness). The great thing about Nemo's is that they offer a shuttle service to and from all of the Detroit sports games. I have used Nemo's shuttle service a number of times for the Tigers games, and once for the Red Wings. You park in the back behind the building, and ask any of the servers or staff to purchase a shuttle ticket for $3 a person, and this includes a "drink ticket" (Yes, you guessed it. Drink ticket = free drink). Not bad! Sure does beat the $15-30 parking near the stadium.

I love this place, plastic cups and all. Great people, best burgers and cold beer in Detroit. It is my favourite place before a tiger game. Can't beat the shuttle to the game. The guys working there have been there forever.

Love the location, love the food, love riding the shuttle to and back to the Tiger's game. However, the service is terrible. I understand that on a Friday night, the bar is going to be busy, especially on nights where the Tigers are playing at home. I don't mind having to wait a little while for food, drinks etc., it's understandable. But I shouldn't have to flag my server down for her to even acknowledge us, especially after she greeted the two tables that sat down after us. We had to wave her down for everything- to order our food, to ask for another beer, to ask her for the bill, to ask for the shuttle tickets we'd already been charged for and for the last time when we had to ask her why we were charged $9 for tax. On food. Which totaled $38. We'll be back because we love the nostalgia and convenience of the bar, but methinks we might avoid a table and order our beers from the bartender.

Stopped at Slow's on a Saturday afternoon and was told it would be a two hour wait so we decided to go to Nemo's for a drink while we waited. Once there we decided to have a burger. Great decision. The burger was cooked to perfection and was nice and juicy. You can't beat this place for a local corner Irish bar. I heard many lies being told at the bar.

Nemo's is located near old Tiger Stadium in Detroit . It offers both indoor and seating near their parking area . They offer a good selection of beers on tap and one of the best cheeseburgers in the city . Patrons have been meeting here for years then catch the shuttle to Tigers games . This is nothing fancy but the food was a good value . The walls are covered with old Tiger and Red Wing photos . They also offer a shuttle to Comerica park and have a secured lot for your vehicle . Even tho the Tigers have left Corktown Nemo's is still steeped in deep Tiger tradition . Oh yes they still have Stroh's !!!
