I don't know what this place is like at night, but I've been here a couple of times with friends from school on our lunch break. Their lunch specials are affordable but they def don't lose quality; the portions are huge too! The staff is friendly and service is good. It's just an all around good bar/grille, nothing to write home about but they do what they do, well.

My friends and I were looking for somewhere new and different to eat. One of my friends had heard about this place so we stumbled in. The word "grille" fooled us we thought this was some sort of cafe, what it really is a bar/night club loud, with TV's everywhere and dance floors, people dancing while others are eating. I felt like I had fell into a black hole. The food was so average, like I am not the best cook, at all, but I could have made a better mac and cheese. I thought about asking for a refund because the food was so mediocre.

I don't know that I entirely DISLIKE Lucky's, but I've had better. Their mac & cheese is pretty good, I'll give them that. And I've definitely never been there at night, so I can't speak for their nightlife vibe. I work across the street, so I've been here a few times for lunch, and for a post-work drink with former co-interns when I was a wee intern at my now-job. Lucky's has good lunch deals, and they're usually pretty good food. The bartenders are good, and are generally pretty nice. The reason I'm giving Lucky's 2-stars is because the last couple of times I went, the service was PAINFULLY slow. I mean, it took 40 minutes or more to get my simple to-go sandwich order finished (literally). I'm sorry, but when I work across the street, and just want to grab food so I can go back to my cube and finish my mass amounts of paperwork, I don't want to wait damned near an hour for a SANDWICH.

Ok. So a friend calls me and ask if I'm up for going to Lucky's. I'd been before and had an okay time but I just wasn't in the mood for cigarette smoke and loud music. He continues to explain to me that it's a new location close to downtown Detroit. "It's only been open for a few weeks and I'm sure its a cool place to grab a drink and listen to some music; shoot pool or whatever" (his exact quote). I don't drink alcohol (strike one). I'm not a fan of the garbage that most DJ's are spewing and defining as hip hop (strike two) and I have a pool table at home (strike three). YOUR OUT! But not really. With a bit more arm twisting and 20 minutes later I had thrown together a cute outfit without much effort and was headed out the door at the sound of my doorbell. I knew we were in trouble upon arrival. The parking lot was packed and the line was literally down the side walk with about 50 patrons in line. We wait in line (which did move quickly by the way). After I was padded down like a prisoner who was in possession of a shank I was allowed entry. This new location is really a cool spot (visually). Flat screens line the walls, there is a dance floor, 3 bars, a VIP section and multiple tables for seating along with a dart and pool table section. If gives off the vibe of a sports bar. The DJ was decent (not really into the DJ's who for whatever reasons rap/sing along with the songs and then curse to emphasize whatever the song.) The waitress staff was on point. This place was packed and they were doing a good job of keeping up with the demands. This isn't a place I would EVER patronize on a Friday or Saturday night though. The crowd is really young, immature and for lack of a better term "tacky". The guys Iooked "not" so friendly and unapproachable. The women were so busy dancing with each other they probably didn't even notice the unapproachable guys (which could probably be attributed to the fact that the women were dancing with each other). I kept having this eerie feeling that I was going to have to run at the drop of a dime as soon as someone started fighting. Not that a fight occurred but I just felt as though one would. There is nothing more nerve wracking than being in an environment when you feel as if your going to have to do your best Carl Lewis impersonation - but in heels. If your looking to grab a lunch/early dinner any time (except Friday or Saturday night) I would highly recommend this venue. But if you're looking to feel at ease, take in a some pool, shoot the breeze and relax - KEEP IT MOVING!!!

I hear on Friday this is the place to be unfortunatly I went on a Tuesday night. Waitress got mad cause we only came for drinks. So brought drinks and never returned to the table until we went and got her for the check. I hear good things about this place so I may give them another try.
