I enjoyed my first visit at Hot Toppings, it took me forever to look through the menu and decide what I wanted on my burger because of the endless toppings and delicious creations. I ended up getting a "Create you own" burger on Texas toast with beef bacon, sautéed onions and mustard. Seeing as though I don't eat pork, it was pretty cool to see the beef and turkey bacon options as a lot of places don't give that option ! Next time I will get more out of my comfort zone! This place is great for the area. The burgers could be a little thicker, but by no means are they small. Go support this neighborhood gem.

I stumbled across this place on IG and immediately came to Yelp to check out reviews. You all convinced me to make my way over and I'm glad I did. I had the MSOB which is ground beef with mushrooms, swiss, onions and bacon. Maybe its because all the meat is Halal, I'm not sure, but the patty tastes very, very fresh. The bun was sweet and buttery, the onions were sautéed to perfection and the bacon was thick cut and not overly salty. The menu boasts a wide variety of creative and glutenous concoctions that I look forward to trying out on my next "cheat day." A few that caught my eye include but are not limited to chicken, bacon ranch fries and the Thanksgiving burger. Service was speedy and friendly. Its a family business apparently, the father and owner chatted with me while I waited for my order, his son was the grill master. I was happy to learn that their second location is soon to come to Corktown. Having the same great food, closer to home and hopefully with a bit more ambiance (maybe dine-in seating and no bullet proof glass) will be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

This spot took a little bit to grow on me but its actually good. The service here is actually hit or miss but good food with a Lil twist. Burgers with honey buns and donuts for bread. Haven't tried it and don't think I will. Choice toppings but yet still limited for it to be gourmet burgers. Its a standing room only if the six chairs are occupied. Fresh fries and they are more gourmet than burgers. Its new so I will support still.

I love this place. I've never been to the actual location because my co-worker usually grabs the food for us. I've had the Cali burger which is amazing and the chicken bacon ranch. The fries are okay but the burgers are excellent. My co-worker got the Fat-Boy which is two grilled cheese sandwiches, three burger patties, steak, corned beef and a pound of bacon. He ate it in one sitting.

Amazing burgers! I'm a vegetarian and I go just for their amazing Veggie Burgers, and I'm from California, and I can honestly say that their Cali Burger is one of the greatest burgers I've tried! And their meat is halal for those who eat meat!

This place is amazing. I just tried it for the first time. The meat is halal. Burgers are delicious. Also, the staff was very friendly and talkative. Others have stated that it is not in the best location... Some of the best places to eat in Detroit aren't in the best locations. I am happy that I found out about Hot Toppings. I will definitely be returning frequently.

THE BEST BURGER I'VE HAD IN DETROIT -- or maybe ever. The food is awesome and so is the ownership. Halal too. I highly highly recommend it.

This place is GREAT!!!! I tried for the first time and had the Crabby Patty (two turkey patties, crab, shrimp, spinach, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and lemon parm. mayo ( and I HATE mayo) on a pretzel bun. When I tell you that it was one of the best burgers I have ever had, that would be an understatement. De-Lish!!!! And they have beef, turkey, chicken patties and pork, turkey and beef bacon. Something for all!!! And... it is right down the street from me? Fantastic!!! Now, the wait was a little long and they did not have any menus for me to take with me, and they can be a little 'urban' *translate...GHETTO* -those are the ONLY reasons that I could not give it 5 stars. But I will be back!

K, I thought about writing this all ghetto but it just ain't in me. I deal w/ too many ghetto patients I don't need to be the 'takes one to know one' type. BUT! You're gonna feel the ghettoness when you come here. Not a problem b/c I think Hot Toppings embraces it. Their cook is straight up speaking to you in a swagger like: "Yo, what you wanna get today?" vs. "Welcome to In N' Out, can I take your order?" Again, different but when you find out where it is (next to a gas station) and realize you're ordering behind a bullet proof glass, well...it seems totally appropriate. Check out their Instagram page: @Hot_Toppingsburgers. Fred S. and I are huge burger fans. I mean, my mom ate burgers, fries and ice cream when she was pregnant w/ me. So yeah, its almost genetic in me that I love burgers, fries and ice cream. However, lets point out that HT is HALAL which limits Fred S' choices. Not me however, so when he gave this stellar reviews (ck him out on IG: @fsareini), I had to try it. I drove from R.O. to Detroit. Get over it people. It's not the Bronx. Its not Compton. I've WORKED in Compton and have lived to tell it. I've been searching for a burger joint similar to In N' Out in MI. B/c I miss it. If you had it you would too. I order from In N' Out's "secret menu" (you don't know what it is? Yeah, I told you, you're missing out.) and got a burger w/ their "HT sauce" aka thousand island with grilled onions, pepper jack, lettuce, tomatoes, no mayo. OH and I added bacon. Must have the bacon. One thing In N' Out is sorely lacking. (This place is halal so I donno if it was beef/turkey bacon. Couldn't tell as I focused on my burger meat.) First, the burger meat was fresh thats for sure. Not previously frozen, not pre stamped weird square shape (ahem, Wendy's), or overly seasoned. I mean juicy and flavorful. +1 Second, "HT Sauce" was too thick. I wanted just a small spread of it. I got 3x that. -1 Third, lettuce and tomato were nonexistent. Lettuce was shredded variety vs whole-leaf from In N' Out. Not a problem as Red Coat Tavern does the same. However, my double beef patty (double patty is STANDARD on their menu) was so warm (despite being cooked medium rare) it cooked my lettuce. i.e., wilted. And I never found my thick juicy tomato. -1 Fourth, I wanted a pretzel bun but I went w/ the standard bun. I forgot to ask for it grilled like at In N' Out and I hate soggy stick-to-the-top-of-your-mouth sandwiches. But this worked. I was surprised. The bread was like a potato bun and though it did get soft, it didn't disintegrate from the warm beef pattys. +1 Fifth, cheese. It was cheesy, I like that. +1 Sixth, cooked medium rare. Legit, not well done. +1 If you don't customize your burger, you can order one from their menu. Fiance got the Blue burger which had bleu cheese & munster cheese w/ balsamic and special mayo. He liked it and the bleu cheese wasn't overpowering. Now this is where it started to go wrong. We got their "fresh cut fries" which look just like Five Guys. I got Cajun and fiancé got garlic parmesan. I was disappointed as it looked kinda dilapidated and the garlic parmesan was nothing but the popcorn seasoning you find at movie theaters. BUMMER. Just get Cajun as its paprika and Lawry's seasoned salt. Its a huge serving so 2 ppl can share a large size. We got 2 regular and both couldn't finish. Their is no seating inside. Just one table and 2 chairs which we took. Its more a grab and go place but man, we came Sunday at 4:30pm and as soon as we ordered, 10 ppl came in ordering in their ghettoness and the owner/cook was overwhelmed. They waited 10-15 mins before getting their orders. We sat and ate our burgers and fries while ppl drooled. Whatevs. No cash? No biggie, they take credit card. As ghetto as this place looked, they were "high tech" enough to have an iPad (not protected and behind a bullet proof glass) where you can sign up for FlockTag which is like a digital punch card. Eat there 8 times and get a free burger-type deal. I payed by credit card and the girl asked me for my cell # and I was like, um, no. But I just got a receipt via text. Cool! Overall, this is a small business form of Five Guys but in halal form. Similar endless choices of toppings but HT does a seafood burger, turkey patty and gets as creative w/ cinnamon roll for buns. I'll be impressed if they do the ramen burger (ramen noodles as buns). I like the fries at Five Guys better but the taste of the beef patty is def fresh. I'm gonna keep searching for my In N' Out burger in MI.

The only reason I don't give this place a 5 star rating is the location. The burgers are delicious and creating your own burger is encouraged. The owner is very nice and the food all halal. I'm definitely coming back!
(4)Skully F.
Amazing food iffy location had a Philly burger and a chef fry. I'm going back for sure!

I had the Texas burger and the BBQ cheese fries amazing! definitely worth a try if you haven't already....

I was a little hesitant because I like my burger broiled or charbroiled. Period. I had been missing red meat in my diet and saw reviews here and on Facebook. Well, the Spicy burger was that DEAL with its two patties and grilled bun. Damn! Glad I slipped. I must try those PIZZA FRIES I saw on instagram "next" time.

If you are looking for a great (halal) burger this is your spot! It is no frills, order from behind glass, has very little seating so... if you are looking for ambiance this is not the place for you. I carried out the Americano burger and cajun fries and it was great. I had beef bacon on my burger, which I could've done without honestly because the burger was good enough on it's own and the bacon didn't match the quality of the burger. The employees working when I was there were both very nice. It looks like an odd location in a strip mall with a gas station, but the food is worth the stop.
