With the grand view of the Double Tree hotel, my expectations for the place seriously skyrocketed...which may ultimately be the reason for a small let down. But honestly, it really isn't bad at all. I was quickly sat down by the sole waitress working at the hour. I wanted to order a pizza, but was informed that the pizza oven was broken at the time. Aight, no problem. Always go with a backup game plan. I decided to try a salmon burger, something that I actually never tried and was rather curious for the outcome. It wasn't exactly what I envisioned. I envisioned a grilled salmon resting on the hamburger bun. But instead, it seemed like a mixture of salmon grinded up with something else (my best guess is some kind of tofu-like ingredient) and shaped into a hamburger pattie. It doesn't taste bad at all though. It also comes with freshly made cole slaw and freshly fried curly fries. For $10? I will take it! As I was trying to pay for my check, the waitress took my card but forgot to return me with the receipt..and my card, which caused me to wait for about 20 minutes before I finally stood up and asked her politely for my card back. She quickly realized her mistake and apologized. Being the only waitress at this hour, I understand things can be a bit overwhelming though, though I can imagine some kind of jerks out there that would simply dismiss such matter as "not my concern". Overall, a rather comfortable dining experience. Would probably need to try more items on the menu to give it a more accurate rating.

The place was empty but we waited for our server, longer than I thought we should. The drinks came after a minute. The order was taken. I ordered a saffron shrimp pesto dish. I tasted nothing but olive oil, pasta and shrimp that was over cooked. The plate was cool and my food was tepid more like room temperature which is not ideal for pasta or shrimp. I asked for it to be heated, which over cooked the shrimp. I saw/tasted no hints of saffron. The pesto wasn't oily like I suspected but it was ok. The pasta was perfect. The shrimp lacked seasoning. I wanted more; I was starving but did not finish my plate. For my inconvenience my dessert was comp'd. It was a boring key lime pie that favored cheese cake. I dared not ask for anything else because our meals took forever to arrive. The bread and flat crackers were great. The $3 Tazo I had was great but not the food. My meal was covered by my employer but I would not eat here free again. The decor and space is nice, roomy enough for large parties. The menus price point is too lofty for what they offer. Take a dollar off your drinks and two off the meals and maybe then it'll be worth it. If you're local, then eat ANYWHERE else. If you're visiting, try something else at the mall or even Olive Garden up the street is better than this.

I normally wouldn't eat at a hotel restaurant, but since I was staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and was required to take part in a group dinner, I ended up with a large party at Grille 39. The serving staff managed to retain a pleasant demeanor even when dealing with a couple of several dozen people, which isn't always easy. The rolls which came before the meal, buttery and with a slight garlic flavor, were better than most. I ordered the salmon with asparagus and a baked potato, and while it wasn't outstanding, it wasn't disappointing either, which is a positive thing, and the most one can usually hope for from a hotel restaurant. There are so many good restaurants in the Dearborn area that I can't see myself deliberately choosing to go back to Grille 39. But if you do end up there for a meeting or conference, it seems, based on my one meal there, that you won't feel let down.

Staying at the Doubletree, I ordered the sirloin with spinach and asparagus. The meat was incredibly tender and the veggies were fresh. Delicious!
