Best burger in Detroit! House special burger, beer, and fries! These are the best deal for $8.95 ! Quick, polite staff! TV's around the bar. Easy location. Off People Mover Bricktown exit!

Used a Groupon for carryout, and their service was quick. 2 chicken tender orders and a side of jalapeno poppers for $20 - not bad at all. The food was your average bar food - nothing too crazy. Beer and liquor deals are worth the trip, and they offer a shuttle to the Tigers Stadium on game days. Great atmosphere, walking distance to other Greektown or Bricktown bars.

I run in here somewhat often for a carry out of food while I'm drinking at a nearby establishment. The menu has the typical bar fare...burgers, salads, fried items. I've ordered their saganaki, sausage, chicken tenders, salads, and they've all been fine. Once, I ordered fried shrimp and had to take it back because they shrimp was not de-veined and it looked disgusting. The service has been decent. I've not had to wait too long for my carry-out orders. Props to them for carrying a hard-to-find beer, "Not Your Father's Root Bear". It's usually packed on home game nights (any Detroit sport) and they run a shuttle to and from games.

Great Bar. Fun Bartenders. Awesome Owners. Spectacular Drink Prices. Free Trivia Tuesdays. This is an older bar in Detroit, but still a good one. No, you won't get the glitz and glam here, but you're still guaranteed to have just as good of a time. The bartender, Kris, is great, super friendly and the patrons seem to all be nice and have "respect" for the aging bar and the staff. This is a great spot for bar food and beer with a group of friends after work or to come in and watch a game. They also have patio seating so great for day drinking on a warm summer day :) An added plus is come on Tuesday's. From 7-9 they have FREE trivia to win gift cards and food and drink specials. The owners are great people as well. This is an all around great establishment!
(5)Joe B.
A solid spot to check out if you're waiting to get into Andrew's. Friendly bartenders, trivia Tuesdays and they pour a good drink. No frills just a solid Detroit atmosphere.
(4)Anye F.
Nice little dive bar with pretty good service. Drinks were reasonably priced. No frills but who needs frills? We didn't eat food but just hung out for awhile.
(4)Greg Y.
I have been here a handful of times. It's a great spot to drop in if your in the area for an event like Saint Andrews or something. I wouldn't necessarily make a special trip here but I think it's probably the best beer- shot bar in the area. I think I had a burger once and remember it being pretty good too
(3)Kristen G.
So if you have been wondering where to find the happy bartenders, this is the place. Shot for shot the girls here are on point and ready to go after a good game. You know what I'm saying? But seriously though, the drinks are cheap and the pickles are good. In addition this area is convenient to the arenas and hotels. I have to say the only downside is that their menu is in comic sans. Take it seriously though.

We are from out of town. We were trying to find some Detroit charm and stumbled upon this great place! It is for sure an "everybody knows your name" bar! We walked in and sat ourself, the wait staff addressed us immediately! A must try is their Cheese and Broccoli bites!!!!!!!! The Detroitier burger: perfectly melted cheese with ham, bacon and a made to order patty... Still licking our figures. I got the fish and chip(fries), a little greasy but not fishy which was a big plus! We would come back, no doubt!
(4)Devonie M.
Was in town for an event and ended up here a few times. Great dive bar, friendly service. Food was ok, nothing great. Come for the drinks and atmosphere, not the food.
(4)Shante M.
I am not much of a bar type of girl, but I am a food and fun type of girl, who needs alcohol when you can eat a burger and fries :) The food was just okay, a solid "C" my burger was just average, typical bar food that probably taste much better if you are drunk. The fries was a "C" as well. I have made a better burger and fries at home. Although, I was not wowed by the food the party atmosphere was great, nice place to hangout but not to eat.
(3)Thomas L.
Has lunch here today with a colleague. Menu ha changed in such a short while for now they serve fried food and burgers. It is a good place if that is what you are looking for bit if you are searching for variety this is not the place. Place was not very busy but it was clean as far as bars go. Service was very good for they were right on too of drink order food order and checking to make sure everything was okay. Overall the experience was good. Be aware you may want to be a hockey fan for they have nhl network on all TV's. Did not ask to change for is was the afternoon and nothing pressing that would have cared to watch. They do what they do well and have good selection of beer and a full bar.

The Detroiter is a solid go-to spot, walking the line between sports bar and dive. It's small enough to be intimate but large enough that you won't have to fight for a seat. Good beer specials, decent prices all around. The bartenders are a bunch of hipster girls, if you're into that. Their menu is typical grilled/fried bar food, but it's all done quite well. They're rumored to have one of the best burgers in town, but that's one item I've somehow never tried. I've never had a bad time here, but there's nothing so special about it that I go out of my way. Just a decent, stand-by bar that's in a great location, and always there if you need a fall back place to hang.
(3)Brigitte B.
This is a good sports bar atmosphere if you are looking for place to have a drink and watch the game downtown. It is also good to stop before sporting events, since they offer a shuttle from the bar to games. They have good bar food, and have been known to have one of the better burgers downtown. Even better, you can get a burger, fries and a small draft beer on special anytime. It's a good deal. The ownership has changed in the last year, but the Detroiter Bar has remained the same.
(4)Sylvia F.
This used to be our favorite spot to catch a burger and a few beers before or after a game. However we do not come here anymore. The shuttle is always convenient and fun when hitting Red Wings games. We typically would just walk to Tigers games from here if the weather is nice. The food is decent bar food. They have a veggie burger, so that's a plus. The regular burgers always get good reviews from my husband and our friends. However, the beer here is disappointing. The last 3-4 times we have been here the beers on tap that we know and love at other restaurants tasted horrible here. We're assuming it's because they don't clean the taps and lines much or maybe the beer is just stale. I don't know. Either way, this place is no longer on our pre-game list of spots to go to.
(2)Andy S.
While visiting Detroit, the weather was perfect, so we walked all around the downtown area. We saw the GM building, Greektown, and the Comerica stadium. When we were sufficiently worn out, we decided to hit up the Detroiter Bar. I had a Sam Adam's seasonal beer. It was light and refreshing, after having walked for hours. We needed food, so we split two chili cheese coneys, which were $4.95. I am not a huge fan of coneys, but they are a Detroit specialty. I did enjoy it, though! The bartender was very friendly. My friend ordered a cocktail and she was very free in pouring the liquor. This was actually my second time visiting this place.
(4)Dano R.
Maybe the best place to meet friends before a Red Wing game. Get there 1 1/2 before to get a table as it fills up fast. Detroiter house special is great for $9.45.
(4)Joe V.
No bells and whistles here. Decent place to watch sports and can definitely provide a fun atmosphere. Not a whole lot of capacity here. I'd say if 50 people are in the place, it's going to feel pretty crowded. If it's nice out, they have a good amount of outdoor seating. The beer seemed reasonably priced (for pitchers of Miller Lite anyway). It's been a long time since I've eaten here, so I'll avoid giving any remarks about the food. I'd say it's probably fairly reasonably priced and standard, greasy pub fare. The bathroom situation leaves a lot to be desired. I'll leave it at that. Overall, it's probably a place you'd come by to check out, grab a beer or two, maybe some food, and then move on to something else. Can't really picture spending an entire evening here.
(3)Mike H.
I'm a big fan of dive bars, and this one definitely looks the part from the outside. It's everything I would imagine a dive bar in Detroit to look like, and so much more. We stopped here after the Bears Lions game on Sunday. We had a Detroit native (Detroit Dave) as our guide, so naturally he picked out this place for a couple post game beers. "Give me 4 of your cheapest beers and leave my tab open". No need to put on a front to the bartender, I know what I like. She tossed me 4 high lifes and I was back on my way to continue my day long drinking fest. No bells and whistles at this place, just a solid bar with friendly service and cheap drinks. I don't know if this is the standard in Detroit, but I don't think I've ever been lucky enough to get $2.50 beers on a pro sports game day this close to the stadiums, definitely not in Chicago. All in all, this is a good place to get some cheap drinks pre or post game in Detroit.
(4)Michelle W.
Ahhhh dive bars, how I *heart* thee. I had the pleasure of returning here after a few years after a Wings game over Turkey Day weekend. It's just like I remember. Cheap drinks, kind of frightening bathrooms, wobbly tables, waitress that don't really look at you but always bring your drinks fast & keep 'em full, tv's all tuned into sports... it gets pretty loud too, all in good fun. I've never ate here, come strictly for the liquid diet. We always have fun rolling through here before or after games. If your a fan of divey sports bars, check it!
(4)Patrick P.
Agree with Michelle... The Detroiter is one of the bars that speaks Detroit. We came to Detroit to attend the Auto Show. We stayed at Greektown - which this bar is just a 5-10 minute shennanigan-free walk. Our crew rolled in - the bar is the focal point (in the middle and goes in a U. We sit down, grab our PBRs an ordered some food. The food is really good. We ordered some Saganaki - Flaming Cheese. I had a buddy of mine who had never had Saganaki - so this was a treat. DInner - I ordered the Detroiter Special - a Cheese burger with Ham and Bacon. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was served with fries. Besides the burger - what made it special is that came with a free beer. We stayed at this place for 3-4 hours and preferred it over the newer places Greektown offered. The people and regulars there were friendly, the Red Wings were on - 52inch LCD was right behind the bartender... I will go back Atmosphere - Thursday Night - Great Crowd until 1:00 AM. This is a dive bar near Greek Town. The Jukebox was on fire this eveing. Food - Very good - I had the The Detroiter Special with Fries and a free beer ($8.95). We had Saganaki. Beer is limited - but if I want craft beer I can get that elsewhere. Service - Great - Our bartendar was very busy. Very friendly and made all our crazy drinks (We were trying to give here a drink from when they were popular the 70's (Tom Collins), 80's (Tequila Sunrise), 90's, etc... If you plan to go to Detroit - which I recommend - check this place out. Saganaki

Everytime we see a show at St. Andrew's we come here beforehand to have our pre-party festivities. I had the BLT this time..so fantastic! Perfectly cooked bacon, yummy tomatoes..ahh, so good. The beer, the game on TV, the perfect summer night. I love this place!
(5)Roy Dealmaster K.
Used to go here a lot when I worked at the RenCen years ago. Burgers were hand made and fries were crisp. But now, burgers and fries come frozen in bags and it's not even close to when Malaka had it. A disappointment today. For the money you can get burgers like that any place else. But, they still have beer. Place was busy when I went but service was timely so that was a bright spot.
(2)Kattrina H.
I love this bar! I live downtown and it's my favorite local bar! Valentina is my favorite bartender !!! ;)
(5)Colin M.
B4 the RED WINGS games. I often go to the Detroiter just to grab a beer with friends. But, we have made it a tradition to go before every Detroit Red Wings game. It is a great place to meet up, hang out for a bit, then jump on the Detroiter Shuttle to the Joe.
(4)Molly R.
If it weren't for my boyfriend professing his love to me at this bar I would never go back. Food tastes like freezer burn.
(1)Scott U.
This was my first visit to Detroiter bar. I've been to quite a few of the bars, Detroit Beer factory, old shillelagh. They are good, but this is the best burger in Downtown if you are looking for a bar burger. Reminded me a lot of Miller's bar in Dearborn. Service was great, and the free shuttle that took us over to the Nickleback concert was awesome! I will definately be back.
(5)Shunda B.
HALFOFFDEPOT.com .... (You need to check it out) Yes, this is one of the bar advertised on the website. I purchase 2x $25 gift card for the purchase of 1. (Duh -- 1/2 off) The gift card thingy is only for food and soda -- unfortunately no liquor or beer. I tell you this -- you will need at least two people to help you spend the entire $25. The prices were actually good for a bar and the food was great; because I had money left over, I was able to take a doggie bag. An entire meal for tomorrow. (AWESOME!!!) The staff was helpful and nice but they could have came around more often; I guess since I was purchasing food, then they figure I wasn't going to tip. Lol -- which was true but that wasn't the point. I'm going to get back and enjoy -- There are FREE SHUTTLE available for events happening downtown (call before going) and also you can play Keno every 2 minutes for $1. Come enjoy and drink up!!!
(5)Jamie L.
I'm sure the prices are hiked for Greektown proximity but honestly, pay casino prices at the casino and enjoy that atmosphere compared the one in this bar. We came with open minds for a beer- but domestic and import prices are ridiculous- 6.25 for a Guinness? And the bartender wasn't even filling the glasses all the way up. The service was shoddy and it wasn't a busy night, it took close to twenty minutes to cash out. They do have deal where you can get a burger and a beer for 9 dollars and the burgers are rumored to be good. This deal is the only reason we'd ever be back, to many other good bars nearby.
(2)juston m.
once again i'm a little partial to this place. a friend of a friend is a bartender here and she's super nice. although, i have seen her put some lecherous men in their place. the burger here is just a garbage can of stuff. the beef burger of couse is part, but there's also ham, bacon and lots of cheese. along with the normal fixins it make for a really messy, but satisfying burger. nothing i like more than putting more pig on anything i eat. the detroiter is the kind of bar thats good for any season. in the summer during tigers games its a great place to root for the home team. me being gay that says a whole lot. during the winter its the kind of place you want to run to from your car to have a hot burger and a cold beer. i love the area the detroiter is in and i like the atmosphere. love, juston
(4)Chris M.
Its been a while since I'd been here. I had a co-worker from Canada come down so I could show her that Detroit is a pretty damn fun and safe city ...o.k. parts of it anyway. We did a mini-pub crawl around greektown. We had just missed the Tigers crowd and most bars were empty.... I must have a thing for the dingy and dirty elements fo the world. As with most of my favorite dive bars...old, dingy, dark, good burgers, maybe an old Pogues song on the jukebox, and at least one over the top beer on tap makes me as comfortable as Taylor Swift next to Kanye at some award show (Sorry sarcasms fun at times). So what is my tap of choice here? The ever elusive Anchors Steam. This is a cop hangout, which I guess can be good and bad depending on if its a whiskey or a beer night and quantity of either. At the end of the day its just a bar-a local bar but I continue to feel that the local places are what makes Detroit relevant.
(4)Eric M.
I gave the Detroiter the once over last time I was in town but ended up passing it by since Nikki's is just down the street. If you haven't been there before I strongly urge you to at least give it a shot. This is not a fancy place and I hope it stays that way. The staff were genuine and friendly folks that let me take my time and relax with a drink before i ordered. My two friends had their burger and swore it was the best burger they've ever had. I had the coney's with chili and onions and I am willing to go out on a limb and say that their coney's might be just as good as American Coney on Lafayette. There were plenty of TVs in the place if you're looking to watch a game and a decent selection of beers to keep the thirst away. I'm not crazy about the front patio but that's just because the view across the street is a parking lot and the supports for the monorail.
(4)Sean F.
Used to come here fairly regularly before sporting events, but hadn't been here in a while. Stopped in before a tiger game and the waitress took our order and promptly cashed us out when she delivered the food to say another waitress would be taking over and she was cut for the night. She continued to wait tables and walk around delivering drinks to other tables while we sat waiting for that other mythical waitress to show up. Needless to say, that never happened. I ordered fish and chips, and I think I found fresher in the freezer section at my local meijer store. I think that seals the deal with me, and they can count on a lost customer. I will avoid in the future at all costs. Thanks for the free shuttle. That was the best value of the night.
(1)Vassilis J.
A local spot with a wide range of folks here and lots of talking amongst strangers. Its got a good feel. Lots of laughs, lots of locals and lots of suburbanites. Great service and bad service, but the bad service comes with a personality so you can enjoy it. High priced draft and pretty good burgers. Get a shot, a beer, a burger, put some tunes on the jukebox and watch some sports. Owner hires prettier girls to serve you. Enjoy yourself.
(4)Linny M.
I have not been to The Detroiter Bar in years but was there today for lunch with a group of coworkers. Boy, were we surprised to find out they had real authentic Chicago Italian Beef Sandwiches with the hot giardiniera on top. Yum yum...! A must try if you never had one. My coworkers also had the grilled italian sausage with sauteed peppers and onions and a steak and cheese sub, with real steak, not the fake stuff and thoroughly enjoyed! All i have to say is we were so impressed with the food and service we will be back again .
(5)Bobby G.
Waitress hands menu and stares at you...be ready to say something, no help is coming and you are wasting her time. Solid burgers with snappy chiefs. Beer? Nope - just US light crap. Only Michigan - tired, out-of style Bells Oberon. Didja you see the story about Frasers increasing beer sales by 258% by adding 5 Michigan taps last month? Let me help: Dark Horse - Crooked Tree Founders - Red Shorts - Humma Loopa Original Gravity - Southpaw Atwater - you pick c
(2)Jenn S.
Awesome staff. Very friendly. The Detroiter Bar has your typical draft beer and mixed drinks...just like any other place. ESPN was on TV and the bartender and several others struck up a conversation about soccer of all things. The staff was awesome, the other customers were awesome...it was an all around good time!
(4)Kim S.
I love this place. It's fun to stop by whenever I am in Detroit for a game or some casino adventures. Food is pretty good quality for a "dive bar" and this place is overall one of my favorites in the city. Its a quick walk from greektown casino. It has a special place in my heart, thats for sure!
(5)Steve D.
Ive been in the Detroiter Bar a few times and its always been a good experience. Its never been that packed whenever ive been in, but im not really complaining about that either. The food is pretty good - Ive tried both the burgers and chicken tenders.
(4)David B.
Service in this place has seriously declined over the years. My friends and I used to go here before most Tigers games, now we go to Pappy's or Jacoby's.
(2)Lish D.
Went to the Detroiter last night for the first time in a long time and I'm pleased to report that their grilled cheese is one of the best around! The atmosphere was very laid back since it was Tuesday evening, but the Christmas decoration were a nice touch on a windy night. The drinks have an extra kick to them and priced very well. My grilled cheese not only looked great, it tasted great. The Detroiter would be a great option before or after a show at St. Andrew's or losing your shirt at the casino. And, for all you People Mover fans, there's a stop nearby.
(4)Brad A.
The best burger in Downtown Detroit! Most of the time I go there it is for lunch or before a Wings game. Definately a busy place at lunch and packed before Wings games!
(5)Lisa J.
not one bad thing to say about this bar...we always have a great time here, no pretention what-so-ever. a nice kick back place, internet juke box and great food.
(4)Kevin M.
Meh. Nothing special really. Ive been there probably 30 times but more out of convenience and familiarity than anything else. Everyone talks about the 'great burger' ... Really? How great are most burgers ? It's almost like saying "great" scrambled eggs. It's ok- good value for the money and their house special comes with a beer and fries. Reasonable drink prices for Greektown. Usually not too Crowded, but service can be sh1tty and waitress b1tchy a few times. Sometimes looks under staffed- you know, the whole "under staffed" thing where the servers send each each other home thing so one or two girls are there making all the money but were still supposed to tip them well even when the service is bad because they're sooooo busy. Thats always annoying. It won't break the bank and it's fairly priced, just dont expect to be wowed beyond that.
(2)Bill K.
I started hanging out at the Detroiter last year. The drinks are reasonably priced, good bar food, and friendly atomosphere make it a great place to meet up with friends. It's a nice place to people watch as well. During baseball and hockey season you get pretty good sized pre and post game crowds. The gals behind the bar and waitresses are all sweet and friendly, very easy to chat with if you're not being a jerk to them. Also, they won't keep you thirsty! If you need another drink, chances are you won't wait long for another or it's already on the way!
(4)Scott H.
The Detroiter Bar has a great burger and other good bar food to choose from. It's a cozy dive bar with a good local atmosphere. It is always packed pre/post Tigers games. Easily my favorite joint around Greektown and a close walk to Comerica Park and Ford Field.
(4)Ron W.
Remember this place from my college days at WSU. Went back with my son before a concert at St. Andrew's (Trombone Shorty) and found it remains virtually the same, a good old time bar bar.
(4)Tiffany D.
Lunch, pre-game or post...The Detroiter is a good bet. It's your typical dive bar, with good cheap drinks, a "local" atmosphere, and some of the best burgers in town. The house special burger is a 1/2 lb baby with bacon and ham, swiss and american cheese, and all the fixings. During lunch they offer it as a special with fries and a drink (beer if you're off the clock of course). Another standout on their menu is the zucchini fries - delicious vegetables cut up like potatoes and deep fried to oblivion. So good! The lunch crowd consists of a lot of regulars, from office workers to construction workers. The waitstaff is friendly and gets know your order if you come in on a semi-regular basis like I do!
(4)Lori G.
My favorite Detroit dive bar. Great place to grab a beer (or a few) and watch a game. The staff is friendly....diverse crowd...good bar food. What else can I say, it's a dive sports bar.
(5)Lawrence S.
Great burger cook as requested ...Some times that is hard to get...Good list of brews and the servers all had a smile . Nothing special but it can get real busy when the Tigers are at home . Nice place to meet up with friends if you are all going to Comerica ....Speedy Service ....
(3)poet d.
I understand that the Detroiter Bar is one of the city's oldest bars and that alone may make it worth a visit. Be aware that even with a back room, it isn't a big place. Still, located in proximity to Greektown Casino, it attracts a diverse crowd of customers: loud, beer-drunk blue collars, suit and tie scotch and water types, chain-smoking, bar game playing working girls, groups of computer techs, Italian tourists. I like the burgers here. You won't find Angus or Kobe but quality product expertly prepped and very generous. There are tasty salads here, too, but ask if the kitchen has all the ingredients that day before readying your mouth for it or you can be disappointed. The mixed drinks are strong, arrive missing garnish because the barmaids are more comfortable cracking open beers, and send you on your way with a pleasant buzz.
(3)Sandy G.
Seriously. You won't sell a single coney dog to-go for people that bought numerous meals and drinks from you because "you have to buy two." Give me a break. Make it work. One dog. How hard is that? You can't do it? We have civil rights in this country. People have walked on the moon. We have a regional dish named after a famous island in another state and you claim yourself as the bar of all our people haling from this fair city AND I can't get a single coney to-go because "you have to buy two"? Small minded and pathetic. I hate everything about this place except the detroiter burger, the beers, patio, and most of the staff (except the smelly one).
(2)Jamie J.
Great place to watch a game. They have $7 pitchers of Miller Light which is super cheap compared to other places in the area. Their jukebox is awesome because it's digital and, unlike lots of other places with digital jukeboxes, you get 3 credits for $1 instead of 1 for $1. Pretty much any song you'd want to hear you can search for and it will be there. The crowd is always pretty good. Mix of locals and people in town for a game or just hanging out in Greektown. I've always had a good time here.
(4)Marsha K.
Haven't been here in about a year. Craved the Detroiter Burger. Soooo disappointed by food and service! Won't go again :( Don't know what has changed (?) But definitely NOT worth it.
(1)Bryan V.
I'm not a huge sports fan, and this is a sports bar, but the beer selection and service keep me pleased. Hell, even if there is a sports game on the numerous TV's It gives you something to do between sips of your favorite liver damaging beverage. Ran into the band JET here with a friend. I commented that i thought that was the band, she commented "So what, they suck anyway." One of the band members turned and looked a bit funny. So expect good drinks, good service, good prices, famous people, and good food. Include in your downtown crawl.
(3)Brian M.
One of my favorites. The place to go prior to a hockey game at the Joe. Good beer options, great bar food and the servers are also a lot of fun in that "I may not look like I give a crap but I do" way. Many hockey games have started and ended here with little recollection of what transpired between. Thankfully those days are in the rearview mirror...for the most part. No experience at the Old Detroiter is complete without a shuttle ride to and fro. The driver rules the streets of Detroit. Tip that man!
