I came here on a week night to try it out as we have driven by it and it was not open yet. We ordered beers to start a stout which was amazing probably the best stout I have ever had. It was too easy to drink, the smoke and chocolate flavors were great. My husband had the way 2 biggie which is a double IPA, amazing I loved it as well. We loved the beer so much so we ordered some food. The food was also a hit. The veggie rice balls were amazing and had a tasty red sauce to dip into. We also ordered the rib-eye sandwich that came with a horseradish coleslaw on top. It was great cooked to perfection nice and juicy. The pasties were also great they had corn and beans inside and the crust was flaky. The best part however was the bread pudding not going to say why because you have to try it yourself. I cannot wait to come back the staff was super helpful in beer suggestions and service was great.

Awesome atmosphere, very good food (try the pretzels and the shrimp po-boy, both were really good), and good home brews.

It's perfect. Go and write your own review. No really. I only had beer and pretzels, but the people here look really happy. Great beer must make them happy. The food's in baskets but terrific.

Cool new brewery in corktown! We stopped in last night. The Black IPA was stellar. I like that they offer food although we didn't order food. My only complaint is the chilly draft that ran throughout the place. I have a feeling there are good things to come from Batch!

What a great spot!! Great beer, very cool atmosphere and amazing staff! We didn't try the food but the menu is interesting, reasonable and we'll be back! Definitely a must-see on a summer beer tour. Great spot to take out of town visitors! Open floor plan with a casual patio. Looking forward to the next visit.

Ok, Have been waiting for this place to open since their Hatch Detroit win a couple years back. The wait has been long but totally worth it. Got to go to this place last night. Only had one beer, because we had other places to go, but it was truly awesome. The atmosphere is great, the whole set up for the place is outstanding, The staff was supper helpful and courteous, but above all, the beer is spot on. I had the "Obscure Reference (#4)" and it was great. My party had been there the week before and said the food is equally great, but the kitchen was already closed by the time we got there. Great addition to Corktown and Detroit overall and definitely worth the drive.

I am really digging this place. The beers are interesting, the food is ridiculously good, location is ideal in the middle of Corktown (with plenty of free lots just outside the building, the staff is cool, and ambiance is chill. I've tried pretty much every beer and they all have character, the pretzels are a must-try, the pasty's are very tasty, and the Pork Belly Bolillo (sandwich) was absolutely delicious. The price is right and worth the stop in. You'll be planning your return shortly after; I know I am!

The beer is well crafted and very good. The coney dog pasty is definitely worth getting. It holds up to the Detroit coney standards in flavor. The European beer Hofbrau Haus style of service is the reason for the laid back atmosphere that sucks you in. The long beer tables yield conversation between fellow beer lovers. This place is one of the best places in Detroit.

The food is outrageous! The beer is dynamite! Get down here and check this place out if you haven't yet.

The nachos were good the fish tacos were good and my wife liked the bread pudding. The beer was very good I didn't really find one I didn't like.

  • Will And Sweet D W.

The beer is by far the best in town and the food is SPECTACULAR. Go to Batch Brewing and be sure to kill a coney pasty, then EVERYTHING else chef Matt and the boys throw down and drink fantastic beer while you do it. Sit down, make friends!

Outstanding Beers! This is the real deal for Craft beer enthusiasts. My wife enjoyed the Wheated Kölsch and my Dapa Dan was over the top. Great personable staff/ owners too. I'm looking forward to my return... Cap'n Lefty.

I happened upon Batch Brewing Co. when I attended a French meetup group during my annual summer visit to Detroit. Batch has got that microbrewery ambiance but without the pretention. It's got plenty of microbrew suds, and sodas for us designated drivers. The food menu was interesting and calls for further exploration. The inside is large with lots of seating. And there's ample space on the outdoor deck when the dj-powered music inside gets a little too intense. My impression is that Batch is the neighborhood's "local". The family style picnic tables encouraged everyone to get to know their "neighbor". I don't know if it was because of all the Francophones in attendance on that evening, but the crowd was fairly chill and cordial. My visit fell on Bastille day when they were offering French specials on their menu and a popup creperie at the front. That was a nice touch. As was the surprise entrance and excellent performance by the Detroit Marching Band later that evening.

Amazing beer and a remarkable small plate menu. We had the fish tacos which were seriously top notch!

Went to Batch on beautiful Wednesday summer night at around 6pm and it had a great crowd of mixed people. Love the post industrial design and the absolute cleanliness of the place. The staff was very friendly and informed on both the beers and food. The beers are probably the best form of microbrew I have ever had. None of them had that overdone, bathtub/basement character that so many others sadly have.. All the beers our group had were clean, in balance, super fresh and unique. We had fish tacos, the Coney Pasty and Cubano and all were superb and went with the brews. The owner of Batch is definitely onto something because Batch is a special place. I will go back to Batch whenever I go to Detroit.

Stopped in today at opening. We sampled all of their beers at least once. Every single one was true to style and superb in its execution. The imperial stout was amazing as was the barleywine. The "tripple-ish" Belgian golden also kicked ass with its cornucopia of fresh flavors dancing on the olfactory and gustatory links to my pleasure zone... The food was just as good and maybe, just maybe, better than the beer. Either way, it's irrelevant. The smoked whitefish dip was near orgasmic in its freshness and taste. A generous portion served with fresh heated pita points was quickly devoured. It possessed a smokiness from chipotle peppers that made it a perfect pairing for the beers at hand. Also sampled the pasties. The flakiness of the crust down to the snap of the corn kernels housed within eradicates the need for Viagra. The staff/owners were very personable and passionate about their offerings and carried themselves with a humble, yet confident pride which is definitely earned. This will be the first of many return trips. I strongly suggest paying them a visit. Cheers

Reviewing a small batch brewery is a moving target. Reviewing it on opening night can be even less forgiving. However, tonight, they did everything right. Having a dedicated line so it isn't a free for all at the bar is brilliant. The beers are above average to delicious. Service is very good. I can't speak to the small amount of food offered, but tonight, all is great

I had the BEST time here - it's one of those places that makes you forget about all the things running through your head so that you can really be in the moment. The beer was great, the owner is genuinely interested in the patrons and people having a great time, and the food is amazing. Considering it was brewpub food I was skeptical, but seriously, the chef is on point. Go here and you're guaranteed to have a really great, great time.

I knew nothing about Batch Brewing until we drove by on a recent trip to Brew Detroit, saw the cars in the lot, and did some investigating to see what was going on. The beers (Belgian, Irish stout, and kolsch) were all very good, the whitefish dip was awesome, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The community seating works well, as we ended up getting acquainted with two other fun groups at our table. Closest thing to a quibble was that the long bench seat was tucked up pretty close to table, making it a little awkward to get up and down if you're sitting in the middle (and have long legs and/or a couple of beers in you). Looking forward to going back.

Top notch stuff. Good location, friendly staff great beer. The pretzels weren't to shabby either. Will be a regular stop whenever I am in Detroit.

  • Michael C.

Delicious. Just get a few food items and you won't be disappointed with the beer regardless of choice. Community seating isn't for everyone, seeing as it opens your horizons, and Introduces you to new people. Yet it's fantastic. So open yourself up to it. Great new spot in Corktown.

Love this place! I've been there twice already. I've been to all the other Detroit breweries and can tell that this one fits in well and will be very successful. Both times I've been there I went after going to a restaurant. So, other than the pretzel, I haven't tried the food. The beer is great, although I'm not very adventurous and stick with wheats. I like the concept of the batch brews. It makes you feel like you're being invited to enjoy someone's private stock - which in many ways you are. The owners are super friendly and love talking to you about the beer. This is a great place where you could spend the entire evening or come by for a quick beer. Finding a seat can be a problem. But, seats constantly open up. The longest I saw anyone wait for a seat was about 20 minutes. There's a nice bar area and the rest of it is picnic table type seating.

Fantastic food and excellent beer. The Belgian Dark, Little Guy and Wheated Kölsch were our favorites. Great after work place for small bites and a few beers! Definitely recommend! They have parking.

Been here twice now and I'm convinced it's the best beer and food combo in all of Michigan.

  • Karen W.

Superior beer, superior food, run by good people. Tried most of the good variety of beer offered over two visits while in Detroit for baseball, and not a bad beer in the bunch. Food is a cut above most craft breweries that serve food, actual chef in charge of menu, and it shows. Have visited many craft breweries, this one is at the top of the list. If you live in the Detroit metro area, or are visiting, and fail to check this place out, it's your loss.

This place is rapidly becoming my favorite place, more like my living room than a bar. It's a big, brightly lit and comfortable space, with friendly people, both staff and customers. It's the kind of place where you end up talking to perfect strangers. The beer is some of the best I've had, and as a homebrewer and a beer writer I've had a lot; great flavors, unique variety, well made, and the fact that they have "Feel-Good Taps" where the money goes to a local non profit, is a plus. It shows how much the gang cares about the community. And then there's the food... WOW. Even more than the beer, that is what keeps me coming back- Chef Matt, the "Zen Chef" who returned from Arkansas to his hometown turns out an amazingly flavorful, experimental and diverse small plate menu. The Pasty, Arancini and Bread Pudding of the week are all fantastic. And the Bread Pudding is fantastically evil, and large enough to spontaneously decide to share it with the "once strangers," sitting next to you.

Whose a bad mother that seriously loves their beer? BATCH! Shut your mouth! I'm talkin' about Batch. Batch Brewery was something I had circled on my trip to Detroit. Located in Corktown, it was a nice short walk from our hotel in Downtown Detroit. This place looks like it does really well. We got here early on a Friday afternoon and the place was pretty packed. Batch is really nice looking. It's new. Large clean bathrooms. They brew their beers right there on site, and are ready for you to guzzle them down. There's food on site, which looked and smelled great. Had I not just devoured some sandwiches at Mudgies, I would have gotten something to eat. I ordered up four different beers there. The cerveza, the sour wheat, the hefenweizen, and the saison. They were all pretty good. The saison had a good bite and a solid 8% ABV. The sour was super tasty and provided an above average ABV, 8% I believe. The hefenweizen was a bit of a disappointment, they are some of my favorite beers, and usually have a strong ABV, but in this case it failed in both aspects. It was a slight below average ABV, and it tasted a bit flat. If I was staying a little longer I was going to try some of their stronger ones, like the Son of a Batch. The person I'm assuming was the owner was really passionate about his craft. (Ha, I made a pun) He was talking away about all the beer with the patrons sitting at the bar. Except for us. For some reason this dude didn't even want to glance at us. Maybe he thought we were freaks, but freaks have feelings too. I can talk about beer for days. I was sitting right by where you order, which was fine, but there are some oblivious morons in the world. There's a line, please stand on the line. I am a human. I am not a table or part of the bar. Do not lean on me. Some moron kept bumping into me while he and his dim wit friends took ten years ordering their drinks. Didn't help the fact they were loud and obnoxious. Now bumping into me isn't a crime. It's not even a big deal, but I'm not a small dude. If you bumped into me you would realize it. And once again, it's cool, but have the decency to turn around and say something. I'm sorry, my fault, apologies, something. Don't act like it didn't happen and continue to do it several more times. As we were downing our last beers, someone working there approached us. They inquired if the four bikes tied up to the wheelchair ramp outside, were ours. I looked at his puzzled. Did they think the two of us ride four bikes there? As it turns out it was those douchebags from before. And when I see they figured it out, the group tells them they will move them after they finish their drinks. NO. Get outside and move your bicycles now. Batch Brewery seems like a really chill place, and I see why so many people enjoy it. It's a fun spot with lots going on. I just wish it felt a bit more friendlier.

Was searching for a great brewery to try when visiting and found Batch. I'm really happy I did. The beers were excellent (I got the empire pale ale, my friend the belgium) the food was excellent (get the pretzels and fish tacos!) and the casual but trendy atmosphere was great. I will definitely try and get back here next time in Detroit. Also talked to the staff and owner a bit and they were super nice and down to earth.

Amazing. First off, let me just say what a pleasure it is to get good 'ole GREAT customer service. This place is fantastic. I'm not a beer drinker, but they were very accommodating. The "animals" beer is pink and any non-beer drinker can drink this. Moving forward they're adding wines and, some day, cocktails. The food. My god the food. Their chef is incredible. The best caesar I've ever had bar none. Everything is tasty and feels very special. GREAT JOB guys!

They have community style tables and a very long bar. The bartender was nice, which I like. I was feeling pretty good by time we stopped here so I don't remember which beer I had buuuut I do remember that it was tasty. The bathroom was clean. Although, it would be nice if there was a purse hook in there!

This was such a lovely place! We met the owner who was awesome and very invested in Detroit. The beers were great and I hardly drink. We didn't have much of the food but it looked really good and the batch pretzel was delish (and I consider myself a soft pretzel lover).

Stopped by after reading yelp reviews. Vibe of the place is really cool with communal tables and a nice size bar. Get to watch the Brewers work on the small batch tanks while you have a beer and food. Brewer actually brought me an unsolicited sample right out of tank of a new beer they were working on. Service was excellent. Bartender was knowledgeable and super friendly. Beer was really really good. Tried a few different styles, and was very happy with all of them. Had the Cubano sandwich, wild boar, ham, Gruyere and a house made mustard and pickle. It was a truly great sandwich. Have a limited menu, but what I had or saw would not disappoint. Very glad I stopped in and will again on next trip through Detroit

I absolutely love this place. A guy at the hostel I stayed at recommended it to me, and I'm so glad he did. If I lived in Detroit, I would be here all the time. It's chill and laid back, but with great beer and food, sounds perfect to me. Food wise, I highly recommend the Rib Eye Bollio, the ribeye had a perfect sear and seasoning on it, and the slaw was a great compliment. I also had the Cuban sandwich, which is an absolute must. I don't normally go for Cuban sandwiches, but the mustard and combination of ingredients were just that good. I'm sure absolutely everything is good but I can attest to those. Beer wise, it's eclectic and just really well done. The strong Belgian was a favorite, so was the Vienna mild and the Feel Good tap of the month, an Irish Amber. Most people went for the Vienna Mild, I fear because it was $4, but it's still a quality beer and hopefully people branched out after enjoying it. Next time I'm in Detroit, this is one of the first places I'm coming back to visit.

Shrimp nachos and wild boar Cubano. My life will never be the same. I would make the 4 hour drive from Toronto to Detroit just to consume it again.

Good food, good beer, good service, good atmosphere... what more could you want in a brewery? A great addition to Corktown! I highly recommend the pork belly sandwich and the bread puddings.

Very, very pleased with this place. I have been watching the internet pages regarding the development of Batch since winning the "Hatch Detroit" contest. I was excited to go drink be there during their opening week. I am so glad my wife and I went there. I have to say the location is truly Detroit! The owners all live in Detroit which is nice to see that they support the city in which they own a business and live. The design is sleek, modern, and has a somewhat rustic/industrial look and feel. It has communal tables and a bar. It is nice...you can clearly see all their small batch brewing materials in the back of the restaurant/bar space. The staff is nice and all very knowledgeable...the two owners were there pouring beers and interacting with guests which was nice. All the specifics aside, what really gave this place its 4th and 5th stars is the food and, most importantly, the beer! The chef they have hired is definitely trying to make a fun and simple food menu to accompany the beer. The smoked whitefish spread was excellent and tasted very fresh. Come to find out, the chef bought the whitefish the same day we were there, which was caught in Lake Superior just before. He smoked the fish that afternoon and served it to us. It was delicious, big pieces of smoked fish and very tastey. Now, for the beer. There are no "misses" on the beer menu. It ALL tastes as if they have been perfecting the recipes for years and years. The beers all taste so "clean" and "tight". There is not a missing or loose flavor profile in any of the brews. Very, very good. Particularly notable were "Way 2 Biggie" (87 IBU 12.1% ABV) a Barleywine IPA and a collaboration with Greenbush Brewing Co. "Midnight Marauder" (58 IBU 7.1% ABV) a Black IPA with hops from Empire, MI. "Dead Irish Writers" (31 IBU 5.7% ABV) a Dry Irish Stout. I highly recommend that you make a trip soon...

I've been following the saga of this brewery for a while, and I'm so happy I was finally able to make it in! What they've done with the space is absolutely amazing, but unless you come from the right direction, it can be a bit hard to find. The inside has been updated really well and has a cool urban loft kind of feel to it with all of the tanks in full display right behind the bar. It's like you have a front row seat to the brewing show, even though they tend to do that on off hours. I sat down and was promptly helped, and the bartender Alex was easily able to guide me towards the right beer(s) based on what I like. I was really impressed with their Belgian Golden ale as well as their "Dapper Dan" the brand new double pale ale. All of the beer was well rounded, had great flavor, and represented its category well. The food.... oh my goodness the food! I started off with the Pretzels while I was waiting for the rest of the crew to get there. They are big ol bavarian style pretzels that have a perfect crunch on the outside and a soft pillowy texture on the inside. They came with a cheesy fondue and a mustard sauce for dipping. Once everyone else was there we also ordered the whitefish spread with pitas and the ratatouille arancini (breaded and fried risotto balls). The whitefish had a lot of flavor and I loved that they made it just a little bit spicy with capers and scallions mixed in. The pitas that came with it were nice and soft as well. The Arancici was a perfect bite (or two) for me! It was crunchy on the outside and jam packed full of flavor. As a main course to split we ordered the chicken pasties. While I can't speak for their authenticity as they were my first pasties, I can say that they were incredible. The crust was buttery and held together beautifully. There were two in the order and worked perfectly as a hand pie kind of size. They were jam packed full of chicken, cheese, and mushrooms....absolutely swoon worthy! Lastly we all attempted to stuff a couple spoonfuls of bread pudding in our mouths before waddling out the door. The bread pudding was enormous, sweet, and had just the right amount of gooey goodness. Overall, staff was awesome, beer was amazing, and the food was incredible. This place is a triple threat!

Very good beer, very good food. Nothing fancy about this place but a nice setting and definitely worth the stop for a couple beers and dinner while here for business.

The environment is pretty cool u can c their distilleries where they make the beer, the place is a little small but still lots more room to fill with tables and chairs, they do not have Growlers yet tho they said they r working on them. I had their stout which was called milk goblin, not too bad more of a taste of a porter tho.

Love the creative beers in this new space in Corktown. The community seating is a great way to meet new people.

They have good beers, and my favorite part is that they have a feel good tap and give $2 to a charity, which changes each month. Their pretzels are DELICIOUS!! Staff is super friendly, and you can watch them make the beer!! This is a must try if you're in Corktown, or anywhere close! Totally worth the trip!

The beer is great, food is ok even though I haven't been back to taste the new additions to the menu. After last Friday I may reconsider going to Batch again. Their hours on Google for closing that Friday was 1:00am. A friend and I walk in before midnight with an immediate greeting or rather rude greeting from one of Batch's employees. He came out from behind the bar to tell us that they were closed. When I had told him that it says their hours are listed as closing at 1am on Google. He made me take out my phone to prove the hours were listed as that. Then asked me to show it to another employee only to then be ignored. Neither employee said sorry or seemed to care at all about our inconvenience. It makes me wonder why a new establishment with a full house would have their closing hours at midnight on a Friday. With everything said above I feel that Batch's staff is unfriendly and unwelcoming. This was not my first experience of their rude staff. My friends have also witnessed it and like I said I don't believe I will be back. It's a shame because I am a home brewer and I have respect for anyone that brews beer and any new brewery that pops up in Michigan.

Such a relaxing experience here today. I did some research before we headed to Detroit because I knew we were going to be in Corktown. Saw the reviews on yelp and I knew I wanted to give it a shot. Our last stop of the day and it was my favorite. Finding this place was easy, parking was easy and when we walked in I immediately liked the industrial feel of the place. A true nano brewery and we could see the whole operation on the other side of the bar that ran the length of the seating area. The selections were listed on one wall and there were plenty to choose from. There was also a list of what was currently on tap. The woman behind the bar was relaxed and very informative of all of the offerings. She also took the time to tell me about their Feelgood Tap program. The Feelgood Tap program (from my understanding) is going to be a regular thing to support different organizations. Proceeds from sales of certain brews and shirts are going to the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society from now until May 3rd. What a positive way to give back to the community! I had the Nearly Noble. Crisp, refreshing and I really nice IPA. Didn't get any food this time but we will try in the future. The seating is either at the bar or at long communal tables and there is a sign that encourages people to talk to someone they don't know. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can't say enough good things about this establishment. The Batch Brewing Company is now on our list of go-to spots in Detroit!

What is there not to love about batch. The beers are phenomenal; 12 different styles and changing every few weeks. Stephen puts his heart and soul into every batch and stops by to make sure you love it too. The atmosphere is what you hope for in a bar. Community style where you pay at the register then sit down and inevitably make friends, connections, and even play cards with strangers but everyone is more than willing to start a conversation. Just enough lighting to see where you are going but dim enough to create a great vibe. No TVs (except for special occasions) and low music so the main thing you enjoy is the beer, food, and the people. As for the food, they put just as much work into the great food as they do for the beer and it is similarly rotating and changing with the seasons. Personal favorite is the chicken Caesar salad. Portions aren't huge but enough to tide you over for the drinking session. While Slow's, Two James, and Gold Cash Gold flourish, Batch is slowly showing that it can keep up even being off the beaten path and will continue to grow with great success.

Great selection of beers, great building and possibly the best nachos I've ever eaten. Next time we are in town from GR we will definitely be back to visit. So glad to see places like this in my hometown.

Outstanding beer + food + super friendly atmosphere, along with a passionate staff = a fantastic experience! The entire team here aims to please and all three times I have been there they over delivered. A great little gem in Corktown, where tasty brew meets creative, thoughtful food!

I went here with a friend randomly about a month ago and 100% with the concept. It's simple, clean, good music, excellent beer and food. Not a ton of people but thats just the way I like it.

I drink a lot of beer, and this place deserves the 5 star rating it has thus far on the beer alone. Very few breweries do food as well as they do beer, but this is definitely a new addition to that clan. My girlfriend and I went last Saturday night. She had been here before when it opened and wanted to introduce me to it. How did I not get here before??? Consider me in love! We started off getting the Better Together (a high ABV scotch ale/imperial stout) and the Handsome Stranger (a hibiscus saison ale). I'm not usually a fan of saisons due to the strong sour/sweet aspect but this beer balanced perfectly. The hibiscus added sweetness that wasn't overwhelming and there was limited tart with a clean finish that was refreshing to say the least. Pairing that with the scotch ale that had stronger undertones of malt and vanilla balanced both of the beers. For a place that experiments with small batches they did a great job. We also got the Great Lakes Smoked Whitefish Spread. Holy. Cow. Slapping that on the grilled pita wedges was perfection. I can't say anything more other than get it. It was almost better than the beer. Almost. Then finished the night off with the BrownChickenBrown which is by far one of my favorite Browns I've had. It is close in similarity to the Keweenaw Lift Bridge Brown but with a smoother finish, and that's a huge compliment. I would highly recommend it. Place is situated in Corktown next to Mudgies with plenty of street parking and their own parking lot for easy access. Long community style picnic tables inside and out with a long bar. It is set up for mingling and interaction. You place orders at the bar for food and they bring it to you and get drinks directly at the bar. The head chef came by twice, once to ask us about the beer and then about the food. The bartenders were friendly and did a great job accommodating, considering the place was full to standing room. I'm impressed, as you can tell.

This place is great! My boyfriend and I decided to make a day in Detroit and after missing our tour at Motor City Brewing decided to head to Batch instead. Funny how things work out! Upon entering, right away we were greeted by the owner and discussion began about our trip and eventually led into beer talk by my boyfriend and the owner. My guy and I were digging the one on one attention; good service makes the experience! Between us we tried more than a few different brews from this brewery and happened to love them all. I'm not a beer aficionado, but I do have to say there brews went down easy. Love that they have something for everyone on there small beer menu and love that they brew a special beer where proceeds go to a local charity. The food menu is small, unique and right on par taste wise. Overall, this place overall is doing it right! Even though we are arch rivals (Ohio vs. Michigan), I will be rooting for Batch Brewing and hopefully will see them here, in Cincinnati, in the near future.

I love this place. I had been meaning to try it for a while, and finally went today and was blown away by how excellent their beers are. Usually, when I go to a brewery, there's at least one beer, where I'm like, "eh, it's ok, not really feeling it". But when I went today, I had 3 beers and tried another couple from some other peoples' glasses, and appreciated the unique taste of each one and could easily continue to drink any one that I tasted. The other nice thing about their beers is that it's on a constant rotation with some staples that are present for longer. It's worthwhile to go there and just hang out with some friends. Conversation is always much better when everyone's having a great beer, and there's no reason someone wouldn't be able to find a beer they appreciate here. The other aspect of this place that I really like is their food menu. It doesn't try to be extravagant at all. Tasty food that's well prepared. The prices are more than reasonable for the food that you're getting, and the food itself is delicious. We had the whitefish spread, nachos, thai-style arancini, pretzel with mustard and cheese sauce. The dishes really complemented the atmosphere and the beer. From just past looks at the menu, it seems that some of the items do change (different style of arancini), but by and large, the type of food you'll get it quite similar. They had more main dish style items as well, but none of us were really going for that at the time. We enjoyed our small plates to share. The guys there are really nice and helpful. I'm really excited that this place is here. And now that I've been here once, I intend to come back more frequently. One thing that I so so wish they had available was a beer flight so we could get small pours of multiple beers. I think that'd be really cool, but hey, no worries. As mentioned before, I'm sure you'll nail down a beer you'll like (try samples!).

Batch is such a welcome addition to Corktown! I'm not sure what else I can say that hasn't already been covered in their amazing streak of all 5-star reviews (practically unprecedented in Yelp history lol). The beer is fantastic, the food menu is small but delicious, the owner and employees will go out of their way to give you a personalized experience and make sure everything about your time there is quality. I dig the long tables, as they facilitate a friendly, "get to know the stranger sitting down the row from you" environment...and what good is beer if not shared with good folks?! I've never had a bad drink, a bad bite, or a bad time here yet. I look forward to patronizing Batch many more times. :)

They don't do samplers :( The beer is pretty average but the staff is super nice and accommodating.

I was here for beer tasting a few times when they opened, but today I just stopped in for lunch. They are really expanding the food options! It's a chill vibe. The staff are great. I love sitting at the bar for lunch and watching the brewing activities.. What a way to disconnect from the normal rush. Today's choice: the cubano with an orange Faygo. Btw, The beer is fantastic

I love the decor, the staff, the food and most importantly the beer. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The chef is awesome. He creates staple menu items but changes then up such as the pasties. The whitefish pate is the best I have had. Try the grilled Caesar and pretzels. Son of a batch is a great beer and when offered try a shandy. Enjoy!!

Damn good beer. I had several of their beers and every one of them was outstanding. I've had a few beers in my life and these are as good as any, probably better. The guys working here know the beer. The menu is good. And the people at the bar are friendly. What more could you want? Give it a try.

Food was decent; but for lunch and a couple beers, wayyyy overpriced and the customer service was AWFUL! Will not be back!

I love their sour!! So good, especially with raspberry flavor. The location is great, and they have their own lot which is wonderful. I haven't eaten here because of the price. My only complaint about this place is the service. Maybe it's just me, but both times I've come here the bartender has ignored me and my friends to talk to their own friends and then they give me an attitude when I ask for something. I guess it's not their job to serve customers, just to hang out.

What a great hangout! First off, the brew is awesome! I tried 6 of them with my favorite being the Nearly Noble IPA. It was perfectly balanced with a smooth hoppiness. The food too was great! Had the Pork belly pasties which were all meat with a perfect crispy crust. Also had the Cubano... AWESOME highly recommend ! The staff was great too! Laura was super friendly and took care of us in the beer line and serving our food. This is the best place for a brew and a bite in the D!

I'm keeping the 5-star trend alive because I speak the truth, and so do all the others who have reviewed this place. It's kind of a hidden gem, at least for now. But I imagine over time it will be a big hangout for many. In a nice neighborhood in Corktown and surrounded by some extravagant homes, this is the place to hang out and drink a cold one. Or three. Their beers are EXCELLENT, and I drink craft beer all the time. The Dapa Dan is a double American Pale Ale that packs an 8 percent ABV punch, and it is among the best beers I ever had. Just went down so smooth and had great after taste. There are plenty of beers on tap that will fit everyone's personal taste. The building itself is long tables one next to another, and the other side of the bar is all the brewing tanks and equipment. You actually order your food and drinks at the register at the end of the bar, as there are no servers. I like that. The food menu is small but, again, it is damn good. Two of us ordered fish tacos, Caesar salad and risoto balls. Wow! I'm not a big fish taco guy but the fried shrimp was covered in pineapple glaze, and underneath was chipotle creme sauce. Deeeelicious and filling. The salad was actually a big Romaine stalk that came with IPA dressing -- good as well. And the risoto balls -- which you can get with or without meat -- are on point! The sauce you get with them is very good. And if you want, you can sit outside and eat/drink at a few tables on a patio area. It's relaxing, a great spot for day drinking especially. It's funny because on our third date my GF and I went to see a movie at the Fillmore about Michigan craft beer, way back in 2013. And in the documentary movie was a guy who said he was opening up a new brewery in Detroit and giving back to the city and helping build it. Now, that brewery is Batch and I saw the guy there and it's just crazy how some things take time but usually are worth it all in the end. I will definitely be back.

So glad we took the time to stop here during a day trip to Detroit from Cleveland. The brewery is in somewhat of an unconventional location, but I liked that it was tucked right in a residential neighborhood and across from a park. Long picnic benches serve as seating, as well as a good sized patio. The bartenders were all really friendly, and I actually liked that they featured an "order/pay at the counter" type of service rather than a server for each table. The brew list was pretty impressive and included at least a dozen diverse beer offerings. They also had a menu of bar food, but we opted just for the beer. The beers themselves were great- definitely something to please every kind of beer palate here from IPAs to golden ales to saisons to stouts. Really enjoyed visiting here, and if I was every up in Detroit again, I would certainly stop by!

There are a very few times in life you search for that perfect untapped brewery that's not been exploited and can be found. This is one of those breweries. I don't want to give away the experience. You have to do it and experience it yourself. Small menu for food, but perfectly matched. They're not here for food, they're here to create amazing beer experiences. They deliver.

This place is awesome. The food was good, not spectacular, but that's not why you go. The building itself is an old train car which is so unique, at least to me. The staff was cool as can be. I liked their music choice too (J Dilla). The best part was the beer. From what I can tell they brew everything they offer. I think I had some type of blonde first. It was good if I remember right (went about a month ago). The porter was amazing. Great flavor. By far the best dark beer I've ever had. Unfortunately they only allow 1 per person which is understandable with an abv over 10%. If I go back to Detroit I'll definitely be going back, no doubt about it

Seeing all these five star reviews I was skeptical if this place was really as good as people say it was, so I decided to check it out for myself. Guess what? It is. It's in a really nice and quiet location, with a great outside patio area. It felt like I was drinking in an old friend's backyard on a summer night, just relaxing and enjoying some good food. As soon as you enter you're greeted with a sign with some simple rules. The two most important being if you've had too much to drink don't drive, they'll take care of you, and sit by someone you don't know and strike up a conversation. Even though I didn't follow the last part (because we sat outside and those tables are intended for single parties) I definitely will next time. Batch brings in all sorts of different people, young and old, but all seem willing to meet new people. I came with a friend and we went up the counter and ordered (disclaimer: my last review I lambasted Jolly Pumpkin, part of the reason was for the over the counter ordering. But as I said there, it felt like a cafeteria, this felt like a community, more into that later). I ordered a kolsch called Little Man that was seriously incredible and grabbed a table outside. Then something happened that made this brewery become my new favorite. We put our drinks on the table and sit down and oh no, the table wobbled a bit spilling some of our drinks! We were disappointed and grabbed some napkins and cleaned it up. About five minutes later someone who worked there came out just to make sure we were doing well and saw the used napkins on the table. He asked us if it was there when we got there or if it was from us, we told him it was from us and what happened and he came out with a smaller glass filled up with my friend's beer (much more than she had lost) to make up for the beer that had spilled. Needless to say, having them go and do that completely sold me what a great place this truly was. As I said, my Little Man was amazing, I also ordered a Wheat Kolsch that somehow managed to beat my Little Man. Honestly, it might be the best beer I've ever had in my life. Just perfect. Wasn't too fruity or light for a wheat beer, had an excellent after taste. I can't wait to get more. I decided to get some food as well and ordered the pretzels. Just like everything at Batch it was a home run. $6 for two decently sized pretzels and some great dipping sauces. Very happy with it. My friend ordered fish tacos that she said were "too fishy." I'm not really sure what that means but when I tried them I thought they were great, minus the cabbage but that's just my preference. It's really amazing that Batch has already become such a great establishment in such a short time. At Batch you'll find incredible food and drink that's somehow overshadowed by one of the most friendly staffs I've ever encountered in my life. It's in a great area too that makes for a fun walk around the neighborhood after. Thanks for the great time Batch, I can't wait to visit again.

Like this place a lot. I had the Wheated Kolsch and the Vienna Mild and hubby had the Low End Theory and Dead Irish Writers - all very good. They offer food although we didn't order any. One note - you have to go to the cash register to order - even if you are sitting at the bar. Will be back - often.

Have only stopped in a handful of times (because...parenthood), but we count ourselves lucky to be able to walk to this brewing gem. There's always been something special for every kind of beer drinker that I've had the pleasure of imbibing a pint or two with here. Throw in one of their hearty pretzels and you'll never want to leave. Batch can do no wrong.

Neat little brew pub! They keep it very simple there, have about 10-15 of their beers (made on premises) on tap, and their menu is super small, and mostly consists of appetizers, but everything is homemade, and quite delicious. I ordered the arancini and a Cesar salad. The arancini were very delicious and a unique Thai style (they don't always make your typical Italian arancini- they rotate different variations), and The salad was really good too. My husband ordered the nachos and pretzels with beer cheese & mustard - both were really tasty.

After an indiegogo campaign, winning the Hatch incubator contest and a few bumps (mountains) in the road, Batch Brewing Company was born. The first Nano brewery in Michigan is nestled in the centerpiece of Detroit's revitalization, Corktown. Using local ingredients when possible, they serve up an ever changing menu of small batch craft beer made directly in their taproom. Beers range in price based on size & alcohol content. We had the 10 oz. Belgian Golden Ale ($6) and 10 oz. Son of a Batch ($5). The food menu is small, but offers a variety of delicious & creative eats, including Smoked Whitefish Spread ($9) and Bavarian Pretzels ($6). The wide open taproom is lined with communal seating, long tables that enable you to make friends with the stranger next to you if you please. The cashier is toward the back where you place your order and grab your beer. If you want some grub, they'll give you a number and deliver it to your table. We were there on a Saturday right around opening time and didn't have a tough time finding a spot. We stood to the side sipping our beers for a bit while we waited for part of a table to clear up. There's also a long bar that you can post up at. I loved the relaxed vibe of this spot and could see myself enjoying many brews in the company of good people.

Oxtail pasty = two thumbs up. Inventive beer, great service. A great addition to the neighborhood.

Enjoyed two excellent saisons, the Roux Ga Roux and Handsome Stranger. Both were light and refreshing. Folks who are extremely hop-averse will enjoy the Handsome Stranger more, but both fall in the mid 20s for ibu. Neither adheres too strongly to the subtly tart flavor I typically associate with a Belgian saison, but great afternoon beers nonetheless.

Love the business savvy that's been coming out of this place and excited for their opening. The RyePA tastes awesome, drink it. Can't wait til I can run over and drink it on demand! Their location is so rad, smack between one of my favorite Detroit delis and one of my favorite Detroit BBQ/cocktail/burger/coffee/future chicken blocks and I'm excited to add crafty tasty beer to a fun night out in Detroit in a part of Detroit where you can actually walk to get around.
