The location perfect, one of those amazing whole in the wall, local wonders :) My puerto Rican grandmothe was out of town, deeply missing her cooking I decided to check this place out, I was not at all let down. I ordered Rice w/ beans in it (gondolas) and a piece beef with gravy, and a pastelillo (fried flour shell with beef inside). The meal cost about $10 and really filled me up. The beef, no idea what cut, was tender and well spiced, the rice was different than a lot of Puerto Rican cuisine i've had but delicious non the less! I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a nice local, non-corporate community spot to grab a delicious ethnic meal.

So I have had my fair share of Puerto Rican home cooking in my life and I will say this is about the closest is going to get unless you have a friend with a porter Rican grandmother or mother to me with the food quality this is a five star the only reason it is a four is just because I don't think it should cost so much knowing the preparation and food costs granted I think most people would not have a problem with the price but you're definitely going to need cash and a dinner is probably going to cost you anywhere from 10 15 bucks but the portions are large and the food is great the sad part is they are sporadically open so it's hit or miss if you're going to be there it is not really a dine in place but you can there are about 4 to 5 tables it is more get a meal take it home for the family if you have not had a real Puerto Rican food you need to come here it will knock your socks off this is a must do for any individual that never crosses 8 mile lol and thinks that all latino food is Mexican lol if you have not ate Dominican or Puerto Rican wake up and get down here here

A little gem I'd never have found without help from my food friend. Really home style. Like, really. I'm not sure if the food is even made there, which is fine by me. The menu is verbal, and we kind of ordered everything available. Super tasty. The rice is really good, even the plain white rice- add the bean stew and it's in another level! Pork chops were available, so obviously I had to eat one. Yum!! Deep fried in what tasted like lard - so good. We sort of started copying the table near us and kept asking for whatever they ordered since it seemed like they knew what was up, and ended up with another pork dish bathed in a rich and well seasoned sauce. This was served with Spanish rice. I was really excited to indulge in a champagne cola, a rare treat. The man and woman running things were super friendly and welcoming. I'd totally come here for lunch again.

This gets 5 stars for the food and service! The food is homemade and authentic! Must try everything! Trust me. If you like arroz con gandules you will fall in love with their rice. They are humble people and are a married couple who love their culture, you can feel it through their dishes. Their dishes ooze love!

Yummy!! Angel is a gem and friendly. Authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. Drive slow or you might pass by the best hispanic restaurant I've visited yet. If you love savory, flavorful food this is the place to come. You don't have to be from Puerto Rico to know this is REAL home cooking. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend this cocina!

I've been to Puerto Rico and loved the food. This place is authentic and delicious. Not a large menu but I'll definitely be back.

My son and I dropped in to check out Angel's Place on a whim. We ordered the chicken Guisado. It was delicious and flavorful. Next we had the pastellillos and they were crispy and very tasty too. Last we had the alcapurrias. They were crunchy and freshly made, very good with the plantain taste coming through the crunch. The prices are very reasonable. The place is done in simple decor. You can park your car right in front no problem. It's very difficult to find a Puerto Rican restaurant in Michigan unless you're in New York or Chicago. This will do when you have a craving for Puerto Rican food.

This place is really good if you have a craving for Rrican food in the Detroit area and can't cook it. Their alcapurrias are yummy, and their Lechon is great as well. The great part of it is that they sell Cola Champgne, which is so hard to find around here. Overall a great "come y vete" , great place to eat. And the owners are wonderful people!

Authentic Puerto Rican cuisine in Motown! Nothing fancy here, but good food. Had the chicken stew, with rice and beans, the best alcapurria I've had this side of the Enchanted Island, all washed down with Champagne Cola. The decor is downscale, but the food makes you not notice. Posted hours are 12-6:30, 7 days a week. A good place to check out in the area if you have Mexican cuisine overload.

On a dreary run down section of Michigan Avenue, just across the street from a number of abandoned homes and nestled between a row of ramshackle buildings, hides Angel's Place. After parking in front of the restaurant, on a busy Michigan Avenue, I noticed a faded, hand written sign- Cash Only! Who carries cash these days? I checked my wallet and determined that my family could only afford a single meal. Interestingly enough the Internet had claimed all major credit cards were welcome. However, at the time of this review write up, that post has been taken down. We ordered Arroz Con Gandules Y Pernil, basically pork and rice. A savory dish and it was on sale too, $7.95! We took it to go, though there was ample seating, not another soul around. I wish this place was located in western Wayne county, we'd frequent it more often. All in all, not too bad, we will return again the next time my wife craves Puerto Rican food. I'll be sure to bring adequate cash too!
