I've been eating here for what seems like forever! Good food, great prices, great service & who doesn't love an all you can eat soup bar? They also happen to have a good breakfast buffet on Sat & Sun that runs until 2:00. Every year around Thanksgiving they do free turkey dinners at all of their locations for a donation (for those who can afford) so more meals can be provided to those less fortunate & I think it's a great idea. Granted, I've never been to the free dinner but I know plenty who have & the only thing that stinks about it is...if you don't know it's turkey dinner night you are screwed...you can't order off the menu, it's turkey dinner (as is, no orders are taken) & that's it. All in all this is a great family restaurant, the food is always tasty & they have a small/medium sized banquet room for events & meetings too.

I happen to be in the area visiting family and read the YELP reviews on this place. Totally on target. It is worth stopping in. I was expecting a diner, but this place is 3 times the size. Went on a Wednesday morning and it was crowded, mostly senior citizens. I guess they may know something about good inexpensive food. (Senior discounts apply.) Don't limit yourself to the buffet, although it is good. Only come here if you are expecting TRADITIONAL breakfast food, fixed traditionally. No fusion, trendy or upscale items here. The service was outstanding and your coffee cup will only be empty if you want it to be. Enjoy!

I always feel so embarrassed when I dine here, but I can't help it. It's not my fault everyone that dines here is over the age of 65. Leon's has a great soup bar, genuine wait staff and decent prices. Plus, I'm a sucker for any restaurant that reminds me of my childhood. My family dined at Leon's in Lincoln Park often when I was a kid and I appreciate the fact their boring chicken noodle soup hasn't changed a bit, even in a different location. I've also ordered their breakfast bar (love the fresh fruit!), turkey sandwiches and their burgers. It's all decent diner food.

Meh kind of sums up this place when compared to other Coney's and breakfast places. There is a reason why pretty much everyone eating here is either 50 or older or accompanying someone's that 50 or older and that's because everything here is generic and bland, the best kind of fold for the 50+ crowd. Almost everything here that's not breakfast is mostly out of a can or box. For some strange reason everyone talks about the soup bar, but the soup's not that good. Even the chicken soup is saltier than a salt lick. Cream of potato was more like cream of my shoe. I was here last week with my wife and her parents and the server was slow and unattentive... not that I'd expect much more, but still, at least you could be pleasant. The salad was cheap iceberg, and i thought I was playing it safe by getting a shrimp basket with fries but apparently the shrimp was either freezer burnt or just off as I did not feel good after we left. Fries were mediocre, at least they were hot. If you're seeking bland, traditional breakfast or diner food and don't mind canned/frozen foods, then this is the place to go. If you're under 50, there's probably 10 other better choices to venture to than this place... Miller's is only a couple blocks away!

Had a wonderful breakfast with courteous staff and was shocked at the minimal price tag
(5)Lauren B.
My family likes to go for breakfast. Good buffet
(4)K D.
I love this place;) this place has great service and the food is yummy. I mostly get breakfast but I also have had some of their dinners FYI the soup is AWESOME!
(4)Sarah L.
Leon's is always a great spot to come to for lunch (or dinner I would imagine). The staff is always friendly and once they've seen you a few times, they begin to call you honey and joke around with you. Food is always good, consistently the same, the soup bar is amazing!!!!!! I typically get the fish sandwich or club sandwich and they are always on point. I definitely feel welcome there and recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some decent, CHEAP, diner-like grub much better than your average Coney Island or Ram's Horn!!! Keep it up, Leon's!
(4)Doug R.
Great food friendly staff fast service We ate breakfast on Sat July 4 and this place was really hopping with business no waiting Great place to eat before going to the Henry Ford
(5)Erin C.
I work next door to Leon's & we order carryout a few times a month. Every time our orders are hot, yummy, and always in order when we get there. Their breakfast buffet is delicious and it has many options! French toast, eggs, biscuits 'n gravy, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, fruit, pastries, etc... All for about $8! Their omelettes and gyros are my favorite! Try their Chicken Greek Salad as well. :) They also have all you can eat soup with lunch/dinner. There are specials every day and the environment is friendly. It's a great place to enjoy a straight forward meal with friends or family.
(4)Angela D.
Leon's Family Dining is a well oiled machine and a nice choice instead of the local coney island for a quick breakfast. Even though my husband and I don't come regularly, somehow the staff remembers us. They know to get that coffee out right away! The place is always busy, yet always clean and quick table service. My favorites here are the blueberry pancakes made with real blueberries and the country fried steak. Cannot go wrong with gravy ever. This is not the place to go if you are watching your calories, but they do have a few healthy choices on the menu. I say skip that and enjoy a hearty breakfast, you won't be sorry! They are involved in the community and seem like a nice group of people. I enjoy visiting.
(4)Teresa P.
Great diner food! Coffee non-stop! Family owned and they do care about the customers! Each Thanksgiving they offer free thanksgiving dinner to those in need. Great people!
(5)Frankie C.
Food is alright if you're looking for something a step up from Ram's Horn. Lots of senior citizens and soups. Staff is very friendly.
(3)Liz W.
Awesomely quick and cheap takeout breakfast for work. Reliable as hell and super friendly. Way better than fast food nuke jobs. I like Leon's a lot in the mornings. If I can stop and eat a breakfast bar I will. If I am sitting down I always get the French toast, which is really quite delicious! Whether I carry out or sit down I get the same smiley efficiency. Do not expect anything that will light your world on fire. It's a diner. There are basics and it is good for what it is. If you stick with diner type faves you will be pleased. The crowd will skew old. You will feel like maybe you became old while you were not looking. Dinner here is still ok, just not as great as brekkie. You can get two meals for 14.99. There is a soup bar. You will get plenty to eat and not feel lighter in the wallet much. It works but again you need reasonable expectations. If you are looking for a reliable diner, Leon's may work for you too.
(3)Tim T.
Best family dining in Dearborn area. Great all you can eat soups. Nothing home made, but still tastes good. Super slammed on Sundays and near Holidays. Well worth every penny.
(4)Paul M.
Super friendly and excellent value. Corned beef hash and eggs for $5...VERY generous portions. Kids breakfast bar $5. Nice surprise.
(5)Sharon B.
The broasted chicken was very good. The bread tasted homemade and was great. The salmon steak was way over cooked. The lentil soup and chicken gumbo were very good. The clam chowder tasted like potato soup. The rest of the meal was like your typical average diner--good, but not outstanding. The breakfasts on other tables looked good, as did the fish and chips. The service was great. We probably won't be back if we are in the area again unless we are in the mood for breakfast foods.
(2)Nicole L.
We were in Dearborn, MI for an event and we found Leon's in Yelp. I loved the place so much we ate there for Brunch, Dinner and Lunch again the next day. For Brunch we did the Breakfast Bar - bacon cooked to perfection, sausages, waffles, french toast, pancakes, fruits, oh and buscuits and gravy. $6.99 for unlimited breakfast is pretty good! For dinner we had the dinner special 2 for $14.99. I had the Veal Parm which was warm and delish, it reminded me of the spaghetti from Jollibee in the Philippines! Hubby had the Fried Smelt which was great. It came with unlimited soup, salad and a side - bang for your buck. For Lunch the next day - I had the best Baked Chicken ever!!! Hubby had a burger which he said was yummy. Again it came with unlimited soup and bread! Overall, i fell in love with the family environment - they remembered us from the day before. People knew each other. They knew what the regulars wanted. I wish we could find a place like this in Chicago!
(5)Laura P.
Been going here forever for breakfasts. Live out if state now and came back yesterday and Leon's was one of the places we wanted to go. The kids had the breakfast bar and go their fill of fruit, eggs, pancakes, French toast and sausage for $6. I had the Greek omelet, my husband had oatmeal, and my dad the combo meal. All were served fast, hot and with a friendly smile and an abundance of coffee refills. Just like I remember it 15 years ago and the prices have barely changed since then. Highly recommend.
(5)Matt W.
This restaurant is a great place for family breakfast! It's not much to look at, but it is clean, the wait staff is very friendly, the coffee arrived right away, and the food was great. The cheese omelet was among the best I have ever had. The pancakes are huge and cooked perfectly. The French toast is very good, and the breakfast burrito was filling and very tasty. The home fries were cooked very well - just the right blend between crunch and soft. The whole bill for four people came to $33. We'll definitely be back again!
(5)Nozenji Z.
Any restaurant called Leon's has to be good, and it was, at least for breakfast.
(4)Dunkin D.
Visiting Michigan and went to Leon's based on the reviews here on Yelp. Ended up going back the next day for a second time because our meal was so good. Probably going back tomorrow too! Expect a diner-type atmosphere with good food but no frills.
(4)Tina K.
Seriously the best place you can eat at. My family and I come here every Sunday for breakfast, actually we come as much as we can. We have never waited to long for our food ever, we never had to complain about something, nor heard anyone have anything to say about this restraunt. My family and I love this place. The food is the best, quick service, it's clean, food is very cheap and they treat us like family everytime we've came in. Service like this is always wonderful to have, my family and I are always bragging about your service, and getting new people to come and see them selves. You guys are wonderful.
(5)Scott M.
Neither good or bad. The food is all what 2 would make at home from a can or box. The staff are fast and can crank out meals in no time and keep your coffee full even during busy times.
(3)John S.
The place was busy at 10am, a good sign. Everything seemed clean and my server was genuinely friendly. There's a $5.99 breakfast bar every day until noon, but I opted for the grilled chicken pita and fries, which enabled me to grab some soup from the hot bar also. The chicken was a little sketchy, if you know what I mean. It was kind of like they didn't trim a chicken breast and put the creepy tough outer pieces in my wrap. Kinda turned me off. Given all the glowing Yelp reviews and the good service, I'd try them again, but for now I gotta give this place three stars.
(3)Bitsy S.
Went here because I was told the soup was wonderful. Wow. Some people's expectations are really low. The soup was thickened with cream of tartar which you could taste throughout. What a waste of good food.
(2)John N.
Decent breakfast spot that can get a bit crazy on the weekends I'd avoid the breakfast bar because the selection is pretty limited. Service and pricing have always been fine.
(3)Lori H.
I attended a meeting as a guest speaker in the conference room of this faciity today, where we were also served breakfast. Anyway, the food was good, the service was super fast and friendly and the location was easy to get to. Highly recommend eating here.
(4)Sherron M.
Previously before I was invited out to LFD by my dad's fiancee I was hearing good things about Leon's, especially their breakfast selection; from mostly senior citizens and elders. I'm not even going to lie, I was a little hesitant, I literally pass LFD twice a day for the past two years but just now been encouraged to try. As of this review I have been to Leon's 3 times all before noon for breakfast. I'm one of those people when I find something I like/love I stick to it, I don't venture when it comes to the menu. What I order?!? *Spinach and feta omelet, substitute eggs for egg whites and add tomatoes. Comes with a side of hashbrowns, which are actually the sliced potatoes instead of the shredded which I love. And the option of toast, I get wheat with no butter* Delicious! Great Post work out meal if you take out the potatoes (carbs!!! LOL) I also tried their french toast which is superb. I stick to what I know and like so like I said can't speak for anything else on the menu. Also, I normally go during the non rush hours so I can't speak on how consistent service is when they are busy. Service has been consistent and genuine. Price is affordable normally $9 including tip. I'll be back.
(3)Don G.
We stayed in a nearby hotel and wanted something good on the way to the Henry Ford. This is a typical diner with good food at great prices. The crowd is a bit geriatric but this helped when I asked a question about going to a Tigers game, I got a lot of answers. Order from the menu unless you are dead set on the breakfast bar.
(4)Athena K.
This place is okay, but just okay. There's nothing really to complain about, but nothing to really shout out about either. Food is good, filling, and decently priced. Staff are very nice and attentive. Bathrooms are clean. But everything is really just coated in a sheen of blandness. The food is bland, the decor is bland, the experience is just bland. So, I guess I'd say, for breakfast that is predicably good (albeit relavitely bland) this is the place to go. Actually, you'll probably want to skip lunch and dinner here, which take bland to the "nursing home" extreme.
(2)Charlie B.
Affordable good food. Breakfast is great, French toast is tasty. Lunch/dinner menu is typical family dining. Don't expect fancy, just decent food quickly.
(5)Johana C.
It's been awhile since I had been there but did not disappoint! Food was delicious & portion sizes were just right! Staff was super friendly & would definitely recommend this place! :-)
(5)Kyle P.
Great diner, great staff. Love the soup bar. Typical diner fare, but never had a bad lunch here.
(4)k i.
Good food and very friendly staff from host to busgirl. Enjoyed it very much
(5)Shelly M.
I have been here several times for breakfast and they do breakfast really well. I don't know about the buffet as I do not generally eat off of them. Gyro is pretty boring here, I would not recommend it. That's all I have to say about that....
(3)Jessica S.
Wait staff is very attentive and the prices are extremely affordable. For my first visit, I tried the breakfast bar and was pleased at how fresh and delicious everything was. The sausage gravy was a little on the bland side, but everything else was wonderful.
(4)John C.
I highly recommend this place not because they have good food. They also serve the needy on Thanksgiving.
(5)Erin D.
This is one of the most frequent breakfast-ing spots I visit. The people go above and beyond and make you feel like you're in a small town diner instead of a family restaurant. I've tried lunch and dinner there, and everytime I didn't care for it. I think they have their A-squad in the kitchen for breakfast, but not so much after 1pm or so. I've only ever had one bad experience in the many, many years I've been going here for breakfast, but it was easily resolved. Saturday and Sunday mornings get busy, but they have really fast turnover. If you live in the area, you'll probably see at least one other person you know eating here. It's a local favorite for breakfast on the weekends.
(4)Kevin D.
I've been coming here for years. Always efficient service, good food at the right price
(5)Julie S.
I've been going here for years and love the food & service. Now we go every Friday because my 5 year old loves their Clam Chowder soup!

Affordable good food. Breakfast is great, French toast is tasty. Lunch/dinner menu is typical family dining. Don't expect fancy, just decent food quickly.

Great diner, great staff. Love the soup bar. Typical diner fare, but never had a bad lunch here.

I have been here several times for breakfast and they do breakfast really well. I don't know about the buffet as I do not generally eat off of them. Gyro is pretty boring here, I would not recommend it. That's all I have to say about that....

I love this place;) this place has great service and the food is yummy. I mostly get breakfast but I also have had some of their dinners FYI the soup is AWESOME!

Went here because I was told the soup was wonderful. Wow. Some people's expectations are really low. The soup was thickened with cream of tartar which you could taste throughout. What a waste of good food.

Decent breakfast spot that can get a bit crazy on the weekends I'd avoid the breakfast bar because the selection is pretty limited. Service and pricing have always been fine.

I attended a meeting as a guest speaker in the conference room of this faciity today, where we were also served breakfast. Anyway, the food was good, the service was super fast and friendly and the location was easy to get to. Highly recommend eating here.

Wait staff is very attentive and the prices are extremely affordable. For my first visit, I tried the breakfast bar and was pleased at how fresh and delicious everything was. The sausage gravy was a little on the bland side, but everything else was wonderful.
