Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

they have lost their touch. food is slowly brought out on a tea cart. no one thinks enough of the customer to even think of putting a menu down if you seat yourself at their suggestion. I ate here faithfully for many years, and this final trip sealed the deal. never again hongkong. you are no longer the same.

Decent food, especially the General's chicken. Slow an un-attentive service. Men's bathroom was disgusting. Went there several times, and it is always the same. If the bathroom is not clean, it makes me concerned about the kitchen's cleanliness. Wont be back.

The other day I walked into this place for lunch and ordered the chef's special chicken. The proprietor said, "You know, that's our best dish and no one ever orders it. Let me know how you like it." I loved it! An orange-sauce style chicken with carrots and onions. I recommend it. It was thoughtfully pointed out by Hassan A. that the decor in this place is old school. That's part of it's charm. Wood paneling and red leather seats in the booth? I love it. Hassan's right, if this is not your thing skip it but this and Red Star are the best Chinese places in this part of town. Chinese restaurants can basically exist on two tiers, the Chinese-American fast food type places and the places serving authentic food of higher quality of craftsmanship; like the difference between a Shaw brothers kung fu movie and something sensitive and artistic starring Gong Li. Hong Kong is definitely on the former end. But with that said, I love it. And full disclosure, I love Shaw Brothers movies. Good eats. Get the chef's special.

Yelp tipper suggested the Crab Rangoon delicious. Ordered the lunch Almond chicken w/ shrimp fried rice. Chicken was great and shrimp fried rice was excellent shrimp were a good size as well as the rice to shrimp ratio. Will definitely order from here again

I love this restaurant! They are severing the most they can for the price you paid. You can compare it with other like-kind ethic restaurants. No fanfare, their dishes just stand out.

Pretty decent lunch.

So I used to frequent this as my Chinese place but stopped going here. I used to get their combo meals and REALLY enjoyed their wonton soup. You can tell they made their own wontons which is such a difference from frozen wontons. I miss the wonton soup and egg rolls and their dinner rolls. Their combinations were huge and so worth it for the price. I stopped going here because it is SO dirty and makes me sick. I can't imagine eating here again. Their hot mustard containers are dirty on the top and crusty. Their booths have old food all in them. Their bathrooms are completely disgusting, I can't even describe. I'm sad that they let this place go. Again, good food, but makes me really wonder because of cleanliness. It's a turn off. I'd rather pay more for places like New Peking on Ford Rd.

Awful food....quite possibly the worst chinese food I have ever had (and my standard are not high) the portions very small and worst of all was the service...absolutely horrendous, she was trying to serve be but knew absolutely nothing about the menu, it was a god awful experience that I would not wish upon any diner. The restrooms were utterly disgusting and smelled of urine and feces---Bottom line the food is awful, portions are small compared to other chinese joints, the servers are clueless and the place is as filthy as a public restroom in Tijuana. Disgusting.

Had it delivered Oakwood hospital, the delivery man had the bag on a wheelchair that he picked up from the hospital...disgusting. The portion size was quite large, but I'm more of a quality over quantity type of guy. Overall I thought it tasted boring. I ordered the chicken chop suey combo, and it was very watery. The fried rice was decent, and so was the sweet bread. I most likely won't be ordering from here again.

This was my first time eating here, and I ordered spicy lo mein combination, and the lo mein was delicious!! You get a egg roll, and soup with the combination and I got chicken noodle soup which I didn't care for the taste of it here. The rice wasn't hot like I would have preferred it, but it was good. For the most it's decent...the canton inn makes the best chicken noodle soup.

Food is OK, staff is very friendly. Bathrooms are utterly disgusting - they smell of piss and are sorely in need of a complete remodel.

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill recently. Delivery errors are frequently messed up and the quality of the food is borderline gross. It's clear that cost cutting measures are in effect!

Another fave place of everyone I work with. They deliver and they are cheap. That seems to be enough to make the crew happy. Eggrolls are the big universal fave of everyone. Real non packet plum sauce and decent non packet hot mustard will help. The crab rangoons are also highly thought of. Almond chicken or general tsos will work in a pinch. Go for white rice instead of fried though. I always do but even people who normally opt fried choose the white here, just a tip.I tend to stick to the tasty hot and sour or wonton soup myself. I also happen to like those weird ass dinner rolls, its a Detroit style Chinese food staple! If you don't want one, pass me yours and its more for me. Yeesh. If it were not so f-ing convenient I probably would not pick here, but in a pinch it works.

Got delivery from here, came really fast and food was great! Glad to have Chinese delivery in Dearborn.

Ordered the shrimp with hot garlic sauce from a recommendation and should've listened to the other reviews about this place on here it had no flavor wasnt hot (as in spicy hot) and had no garlic flavor to it plus a ton of water chestnuts and bamboo and maybe 4 or 5 shrimp it is exactly as people on here describe no one was there literally I walked in no one was there to greet me for about 10 minutes and when they did come out it was 2 little girls with attitudes and no welcoming charm at all and seemed to be more interested in their conversation than helping me as a customer. It seemed as though I was bothering them just by being a customer there never going there again not recommending anyone go there either. Would give this place a 0 if I could but I guess a one it is then!

Food is always spot on and they deliver which is convenient. Easily the best Chinese in Dearborn. Tried them all when I moved here 6 months ago and nothing compares.
(5)Holly A.
The food was over cooked with way too much MSG. Blech! I would not recommend eating here to anybody. They cut corners and give you low quality Chinese cuisine. Just don't go. Your stomach will thank me later!!

I came on Yelp to find a new Chinese place to get dinner with Jacob in the Dearborn area. This restaurant had good reviews (that weren't all from the vegens/vegetarians) so I thought, what the hey, let's give it a try. It's located in a strip mall, which is usually a no-no for me. When you go inside, it transforms from a crappy strip mall restaurant to a nice sit-down restaurant with fun Chinese art and decor all over. There weren't many people there and it was a Friday night, which is always weird to me. The waitress was very odd. She had absolutely no personality, never smiled and never said thank you. I hate that but at least she got us our drinks. The menu was extensive and well-organized. The prices are about a dollar more than my normal Chinese hang-outs, which kinda annoyed me because I know I'll only eat half of the huge portions (and I don't take leftovers.) Anyway about my 3-star rating... I decided to order the General Tso's chicken dinner and Jacob got the curry chicken. Our soup came out with a American-style dinner roll. The first downside for me is that they do not serve eggrolls with your dinner. I kinda look forward to an eggroll, not a towering dinner roll. The soup was bland and weird. It had undercooked spiral noodles and cubed process chicken. I only took a couple bites. I've had way better chicken noodle soup at Chinese restaurants; they don't even try. The General Tso's chicken was great though! It had a very bold, sweet flavor with a bit of spice. Jacob did not like his curry chicken. He said it didn't have any flavor and I agreed. Plus, the chicken in his dish did not seem very fresh. We were disappointed. Overall, the meal was just "okay." Definitely not the best by far. We decided we'll go back to give it another chance but we'll split a meal so we don't waste $10 on a dish we may not like.

Decent cheap Chinese food in the strip mall next to Marshalls. I think it used to be better, but it is still a good quick lunch stop. The portions are big. The best dishes are the Almond Chicken, Shrimp with Hot Garlic sauce, and General Tsos Chicken.
(3)Jess D.
I don't know if I would call this the best Chinese food in Dearborn. It's decent and the portions are good. To me it was just average. I ordered a Spicy Vegetable Dish, and my companion ordered the Almond Chicken, which she said was pretty good. The service was quick and the price was right, I just wasn't really wowed by anything. I will probably go back though, because this is one of our favorites for cheap, quick, Chinese take out.

I've heard about this almond chicken dish from numerous sources including Yelp. I figured that this was my night to try it. I had just observed a double bypass heart surgery and wanted to plug up my coronaries. I've driven by this place numerous times. I went with the dinner combination that included almond chicken, chicken fried rice, an egg roll, egg drop soup and a dinner roll. I also went with an order of chicken wings. The almond chicken was a freaking big ass chicken mcnugget covered in gravy. Seriously. Either there is something very wrong with the populace of Detroit or this place didn't do it right. I'm leaning more towards column A after living here for a month. However, they do score points for using fresh chicken. The chicken fried rice was some of the worst fried rice I have ever had. It tasted like they had used old soy sauce or something of that nature. There were no vegetables in the fried rice either or discernible chicken. Call me an idealist, but egg rolls should not have bean sprouts in them. Also, bean sprouts should not make up the majority of the content of an egg roll. Not good. The egg drop soup was ok, just a little salty. The chicken wings were ok and honestly, the only thing saving this place from a dreaded one star review. There are a number of things that I'd like to bring to your (the reader's) attention. What is up with dinner rolls being served in Chinese restaurants? This is the second place I've been to that has done this. WTF. Why do people here eat crap like almond chicken? Really. Is this what Chinese cuisine has boiled down to here in the Detroit area? Also, white folk, I need to have a word with you. For the love of god, do not go into a Chinese restaurant and ask for American equivalents of Chinese dishes. For example, some lady asked for the Chinese equivalent of pepper steak. Only being familiar with sweet and sour anything makes you look retarded as well. This goes back to the talk thread about why Chinese restaurants do not often start out giving people their authentic menu. The service was good and my water was refilled. This seems like the type of place that does more carryout business than actual dining-in business. The decor looks like a typical Chinese restaurant. I might be tempted to come back and try some of the other stuff, but not anytime soon.

This is your run-of-the-mill Cantonese joint. You've seen it (and tasted it) a million times before: pasty almond chicken and gooey sweet and sour pork. The won ton soup actually tasted fresh and was the highlight of the meal. The place allows smoking, and all it takes is one jackass to fill up the room with thick, acrid smoke which probably makes it feel a lot more like China than comparable restaurants.

This has to be the best Chinese food in dearborn. The portions are huge and the wonderful. I feel like a fat kid every time we leave this place (which is a good thing, sometimes). The Kung Pao chicken and shrimp isn't on the menu but you have to ask for it!
(5)Brian M.
This is, by far, one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. They always give you very large portions of everything. As a matter of fact, on even my hungriest days, I still need a to-go box whenever I dine in at this restaurant! In my opinion, they also have some of the best soups I've had at a Chinese restaurant. My favorite dish in here is the Almond Chicken, but I have also had their General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp Egg Foo Young, and their Sweet and Sour Chicken, all of which were really good.
