Love this place best in town. Friendly staff quick service good quality food and price. Also you are not rushed to leave you can stay and finish your coffee.

First time at Nick's and we are off to a great start. Although not much in ambiance / decor but super casual the way a home kitchen should be. Our server, Erin, is a treasure. She gives super awesome recommendations that are honest and spot on. I started with the Stuffed Pepper Soup. It was flavorful and expertly seasoned. Delicious! The coleslaw was fresh and crispy with just enough mayo to make it sweet and appetizing. Breaded fried pork chops...KILLER!!! This is good, home style, stick to your ribs cooking at a super reasonable price. This will become a staple for me in Michigan. I am giving four stars to food and throwing in the fifth for OUTSTANDING Service. Run to this establishment now and you will not be sorry! AWESOME!!!

Lemon rice soup, chicken tender pita, fries and a Diet Pepsi all for about $12. Can't go wrong with that. It was everything you would expect at your local diner. Nothing to knock your socks off, but it gets the job done.

Best of the Best Oakland County? That's what the t-shirts say. Here's my take. Nothing special here. Ordered the Mini Polish Combo for lunch with a bowl (upcharge) of Potato Cheese soup. Came with a drink. $10, so reasonable. Soup was hot, thick and bland. Service was okay, smiling must be extra. Potato pancake was straight from GFS. Kraut was good, knockwurst was fine, pierogi was unlike any I've had (not in a good way). Stuffed cabbage was pretty good. Overall a pretty average lunch. Don't have a confidential meeting here. I could clearly hear several people, even from across the room. Booths seat/sink low - I'm 6'2" and I felt like my face was in my food. At least they were roomy.

Yesterday was the first and last time I will ever eat at this restaurant. I ordered the chicken stir fry and soon after getting home vomited for 8 hours the whole night. When I called and spoke with someone the next day and to ask them to throw away their bad food so no one else would get sick, I was told they would "pass the message along" and that they couldn't be sure their food Is what made me sick.... Well, I'm sure it was their food. Not only am I really disappointed in the food, obviously, but also in how they handled this when I called to tell them about the problem.
(1)Robert M.
just had a marvelous chicken pot pie.! outstanding portion,& very delicious.....
(5)Sue B.
This place is packed most of the time, and I just don't get why. Nothing here you can't get at GFS and heat yourself. It's not horrible, but I kind of expected real home-cooked food and that's not what they're serving here.

If this place didn't exist, my dad might starve - I think he has lunch or dinner here at least 5 days a week, along with a decent number of other senior-citizen regulars. The owner and the waitresses know his name and his menu favorites, and that kindness and personal attention is worth an extra star to me. Friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty standard diner fare, and you get a lot for a decent price. Their daily specials are usually a step above the regular menu, so check the board before you order. Not a lot of vegetarian-friendly entrees for me, so my personal go-to dishes are the mushroom omelette (which I order for dinner) and the egg-lemon soup. (The only thing I don't recommend is the pierogies - they were deep-fried instead of boiled/pan-fried when I ordered them last time, which just makes me sad.) The meat-eaters in my family have been pretty satisfied with the lunch & dinner menu options. I'd recommend ordering their breakfast food anytime!

This is our go to breakfast joint. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The food is good and fast. They treat you like family here. We had moved here not long before the flood and we got hit hard. We walked there the morning after (our cars were totaled) and I was a mess and went to the bathroom to cry and one of the waitresses was in there and just grabbed me and hugged me lol I needed it.
(5)Debbie M.
Love this place. Staff is super quick and friendly. The waitresses are amazing. The food is great and large portions. The broccoli cheese soup is very good. Everything on the menu is good. My favorite is the Italian trio.
(5)Stephanie C.
I'm actually writing this review for the sister restaurant in Troy at Long Lake rd (18 mile) and John R. They have all the AMAZING food that they've got at the other Nicks restaurant and absolutely awesome prices! Cannot say how much I love this restaurant! Awesome food awesome staff and now...awesome location!! Thanks for coming to the north end!!
(5)Stephanie A.
Love their chicken Gyro! We ate new to the area and have already been several times. Breakfast is good, club sandwich is yummy but wasn't very impressed with the chicken pot pie which seems to be a local favorite. The staff is always very friendly :)

I live right across the street from Nick's and during the summer months, I would walk on over with my daughter for breakfast. This place is loud, the servers are okay but the food is cheap. My daughter and I would split the morning special and would pay about 5 dollars plus tip. One thing this place lacks is interpersonal skills. The severs seem uptight and stiff, make minimum conversation, and don't have the warm vibe that Clawson grill has to offer. Bigger isn't always better, this place is twice the size of Clawson Grill, but has half the personality and quality of Clawson grill. It's a great place to eat if your looking for something cheap and filling, but if your hoping for top notch service, this isn't the place to go.

I went here with my wife and family for dinner. They give you lots of food for a reasonable price, with very friendly service. Hard to say anything bad here, other than the American cheese on my chicken pita was sorta weird tasting. Everyone else in my party all enjoyed their food. I'd probably go back here and order something different.

This place is my new favorite local diner. A definite change-up instead of going to National Coney Island which is a bit overpriced for super casual dinning. Nick's has fast service, low prices, and huge portions. Plus the place is cleaner than just about any dinner or coney island I've ever been in. Of course, it is a dinner, so the meals aren't five star. Still, the ribs were okay and the sweet potato fries and other accompaniments were just fine. In fact, I could barely eat it all. Nick's would have gotten five stars, but they waitresses weren't wearing cowboy hats. Other than that, well done to Nick and his crack staff of sort-of-country waitstaff.
(3)Bort P.
I have never been dissatisfied. I've had 20+ different items from their menu, which has a large selection in comparison to similar restaurants. The food is consistently good and proportions are generous! Prices are on par. I also haven't had any issues (yet) with the staff. I don't know what else to ask for so I have to give 5 starts.
(5)Matt M.
I come here a lot for breakfast on the weekends and its always good. I got a turkey club sandwich with fries once and that was really good too!
(4)Lori D.
This little restaurant is a gem in Clawson! The breakfast is fabulous! The portions are substantial. Usually, when I ask for "crisp bacon and hashbrowns" they don't always come crisp. Well, they cooked everything to perfection. The waitress was spot on with drink refills and the service was excellent. 5 stars for service! They also get an A for cleanliness. I will surely return for lunch or dinner. At these prices, who would cook at home!
(4)Ryan B.
I was a little confused walking in. 19 inch televisions in each corner. They just built this place, yet they put up old school TV's? This pretty much summarizes the experience. We started with two coffees. The mugs were chipped around the edges and one was dirty. When I say dirty-I mean the waitress looked at it and took it away. Way to go Nicks! Great start! Ordered the typical breakfast. Eggs, meat, potatoes, toast. My hash browns were warm, borderline cold. My bacon tasted like an old griddle. Grisly as well. I mean bacon is a great American past time, how dare you F that up. All this time I was waiting to be asked "How is/was everything?" Never happened once. Plenty of other good places in the area to try breakfast. Pick any other place except for Nicks.
(2)Sandy N.
Sunday morning breakfast gave us a great impression of this place. Breakfast was not greasy and not salty, so we salted our omelettes to taste, which is great. The homemade hashbrowns were not at all oily yet they were browned and crispy. Service is really on top of things and the restaurant offers a very clean environment. Great experience and we saw a lot of regulars who knew the staff and owners personally, which is always nice to see :)
(4)M B.
Ordered meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes. I arrived looking like a plate of gravy. Could hardly fine the food under all that gravy. When I did find it the food was mediocre at best. First and last time I will eat there.
(1)S J.
saw the banner claiming to be the best of the best.. I was not disappointed. they have a very diverse lunch menu from several salads & soup for $7.99. feel like a sandwich? many options with soup or fries and a drink for $6.99. I had a cup of delicious chicken noodle soup and the Reuben. wait staff very pleasant. they also have an extensive menu from appetizers, breakfast, and dinner.
(5)Leyna K.
I'm so happy to have new decent diner style restaurant in the area. Easy to park, lots of windows for a bright open atmosphere. If you are a person that likes a large quantity of food for little $, this is the place. Soup, salad, and bread served with each meal. Good dressing selection for the salads, 3-4 fresh soup choices. The stuffed pepper soup is delicious. I'm still amazed at the italian combo - lasagna, alfredo, and veal or chicken parm for $9. Yum. So much food. We met the owner last time, he said he has been there non-stop since the opening a few months ago to make sure things run smoothly. I'm a little skeptical about it remaining open 24 hours in that neighborhood, everything seems to close early on 14 mile. We'll see. Good luck to Nick's.
(4)Amy W.
Typical family diner fare and prices. I do love the fact that they're open 24 hours! I've only come in during breakfast time; the belgian waffle topped with strawberries really hit the spot. I don't drink coffee, but my significant other was raving about how it was the "best coffee ever." I'm not sure if it really WAS the best or if he was simply saying that because he was sleep deprived and in desperate need of ANYTHING caffeinated.
(3)Erin B.
This place was my favorite breakfast spot until I discovered the Clawson Grill. So, it's my 2nd favorite breakfast spot now. Sorry Nick's! Their free wi-fi won me over! Back on Nick's Country Oven though.........The portions are huge, and for a great price. MOST of the wait staff is quick and friendly. They have one bad apple that I know of. If you're under the age of 50, and get seated in her section she won't give you the time of day. She seems to only butter up the senior citizens. I'm assuming it's because she thinks they tip better. My only other complaint is that there isn't much consistency with their cooking. Most days their food is great, but there have been times where the bacon and hash browns were either overcooked or undercooked. Other than that.......I have no complaints. All in all, Nick's is a great local diner. It might not be aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but give them a chance! I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
(4)A.R. J.
I've eaten here twice and it's been consistently good. I've also taken women there who would notice everything like chipped cups or dirty anything and it passed their white glove inspection. Of course, I want the breakfast special and women want veggies in their omelettes and a tea box and Nick's lacks such femme touchs. That's why I go there. Big Honker Breakfasts and no parsley on plate. Nuff Said? Did I mention that it's very reasonable.
(3)Dan L.
it is your average eatery in the area. everything was ok, nothing really stood out. no compalints, but no raves. catering primarily to the older crowd.
