Seemed pretty typical. We went here for a late brunch on a weekend, I got chocolate chip pancakes and my boyfriend got the combo plate (of which I then ate off of, lol, because I like ham and toast too). Service was fine. Location is pretty close to me so I may stop by this location again.

We usually go to a local competitor, but they had an equipment issue today and were unable to serve us. We have been here before and didn't have a good experience then, but decided to come here and give them another shot. While the price is on par with other Coney restaurants, the food is quite subpar. We will not be returning.

Today's carry out lunch consisted of 1 Side Mac n Chz along with a Chicken, Bacon, Ranch Hani. The Mac and Cheese was just AWFUL- I cannot believe they are using Kraft Mac and Cheese and charging people $3.49. At least use the real macaroni noodles and make your own (mac and chz). If they did I would not mind paying $3.49. Not to mention the picture you all use to advertise your mac and cheese looks nothing like what they give you. After paying $10.48 for my meal, the only think good was the hani. Wont be eating here again.

This NCI wasn't too bad. They really revamped their menu. Looks like a lot of things are gone, or updated. It's still the same food pretty much though. We weren't looking for anything (well, my sister wasn't anyway) crazy...just some fill-ER-up quick food. NCI is a solid stand in for when that's just what you need!

This restaurant was good up in-till our last visit, Monday, I ordered a turkey sandwich that looked like a 2 yr old made it, only they would of done better . There was a tiny piece of turkey on it plus a small bit of coleslaw with butter running out of it, it looked so bad so sent it back for another sad looking dish. Which I made myself eat! (I never send back food & felt badly about it) My husbands eggs & potatoes were so skimpy , such an obvious difference since last visit, They either have a new cook or just downsizing their portions to make more profit,.?! We'll not be returning & just keep going to Leo's Cony Island - who's food is always same normal portions!!!!!

Wiener Wars Part 4! Ok, this is the last review for the major coney places in the Detroit area. I used to like National but the times have changed. I mentioned in a previous review about cold pastie chili. This restaurant had it that day. Cold chili, really? This is a coney place! Compared to the previous three, this is the lowest rating. The service was good, but it's the food that brings you back. The fries were even just warm. I think the only reason I am rating them a three star is based on my previous jaunts into this chain. There was no jumping up on the table and screaming in this restaurant(Reference Wiener Wars #3).

A Greek salad with gyro meat, cup of plain chili and a diet coke, 15 bucks with the tip. Phew. Server was Natalie. A platinum blonde hostess spent most of her shift yelling at the kitchen staff. I'll look for another lunch place.

We love National Coney Island but I will never go to this location again. The Staff at the 12 mile and Main street one are in Royal Oak is much friendlier. We live in Clawson and one day after school I brought my daughters here from lunch. It wasn't crowded at all. The food was okay but the service was AWFUL! If wait staff cannot handle children, they should not be in the customer service industry. My daughters are 3 and 1 that day my 1 year old spilled my glass of water and it fell to the floor. One waitress just sat on one of the benches looking at me offering NO HELP. Then an older women came around with a couple white towels and threw them on the floor, glared at me and walked away. I had was on my hands on knees mopping up the floor. Granted they are my children and they are my responsibility but to offer no help was really uncalled for. I WILL NOT be returning!

If you are going for Coney Islands, go there on Wednesdays. Other days = $ 2.19 each. On Wednesdays = $ 0.99 each. Nuff said?

National Coney Island is now smoke free! This is a giant step in the right direction, Michigan. Yes, I know all restaurants will be smoke free in due time, but National got a jump start on all of you other places. My friend should be the one writing this review. She comes here religiously every Sunday morning, by herself, with her copy of the New York Times. With the holidays and all, I was in town so I accompanied her this past Friday. wile she enjoyed her Western Omelette with green peppers, onions and ham, I not being very hungry, ordered their spinach pie (it's on the Starters portion of the menu). The spinach pie is an individual rectangular pie wrapped in phyllo. It's about the length of a salad plate and a good deal for $3.29, except it is pre-made and reheated in a microwave. The key giveaway is that, while the phyllo is nice and brown on top, it is not crispy. Still, it was tasty and filled with lots of spinach and feta. I still prefer Olga's though if given the choice. Prices are the real draw to a Coney place. If you want a real Coney experience, go to Lafayette Coney Island, but for the suburban experience this place ain't half bad. Combo meals range from $4.99 for a Coney Dog to $7.99 for a gyro. And for just $1.29 extra you can add that microwaved spinach pie to your meal.

in the world of coneys, national ranks about 3rd on my list. which is quite high... in coneyland. coneyland is a wonderful place. there's rivers of cheese, rollercoasters of coney sauce and a ferris wheel of onion rings. i love it all... and this national does it right. "one loose and a fry please." the loose was delicious, but i never quite got to eat the fry. some dude sitting in a booth right behind our table turned his head directly at me and sneezed not one, but two gigundous sneezes right in our direction. thank god he didn't get his snot in his own food, but mine, i'm sure wasn't so lucky. don't snot particles travel like 12 feet or something when you sneeze? so, quite loudly, i commented that "UH! that was pointed right at us!" and he gave a meak little look our way, and felt like an idiot, i'm sure... but still didn't offer to pay for my fries that i was then too grossed out to eat. i think it was the facial expression as he sneezed that made me so naseous. it was this contorted look, capped off with an "o - face" pointed right at me. oh yea, that... and the snot that probably flew all over us. ugh. i'm gonna go take a shower. however, it was not the fault of the restaurant... just the jerk who wasn't taught at a young age that you should cover your mouth when you sneeze. the restaurant gets passing grades on the goodness scale. tuesdays are coney day. the coney special is a coney a fry and a coke for like 4 bucks... or something. big enough to never have to wait either, and the service is quick and very acceptable... on my scale of acceptableness.

we walked in at dinnertime on a friday, there was almost no one there. how do they stay in business like this? one of the items we got was the combo with the coney dog and chili. the portions were pretty small and it wasnt anything special. it wasnt bad either though. the dessert sitting in the display looked very sad so i didnt get any of them.

They must have been short staffed, which I understand the service being slower. Also I know its just a coney but I really was telling my friends how fast and good the food was so when I took them out for a quick breakfast that turned into a very long meal. The food was good! Our waitress was acting like a chicken with her head cut off, everyone else on staff was just making quick work of all the tables but she was over the top. No coffee refills, no bill, very long breakfast. I will go back but it may be a little while. I do enjoy a good coney and I think this was just a bad day to go here.
