My family has been coming to Chinese Tonite for years. Though we've had a couple bad experiences (getting meat in egg rolls that were supposed to be vegetarian, ick!) they're usually pretty reliable. I agree with a previous review from Beth H. that the place could stand to be cleaner. I'm a huge fan of the vegetable lo-mein and the vegetarian egg rolls. They also have great vegetable fried rice. When I used to eat meat I always got their almond chicken, which I remember as being pretty good. My sister is a fan of the wonton soup and says it's the best around. It's ridiculously hard to find a good Chinese place, and although this place isn't perfect, it is satisfying. I recommend you give it a try if you're in the area.

Mediocre food and even worse than the food was how they tried to rip us off on the bill. They charged us more for at least three items than the amount listed on their menu. The feeling I got was that this is their standard practice. I strongly recommend that you go somewhere else but if you HAVE to go here, triple check the bill!!!

Came here for lunch blindly as I was looking for something close and quick and I wasn't really feeling in a subway mood. Got the lunch special of the day which was orange chicken. Came with a choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup and an egg roll. I'm not a big fan of veggie egg rolls and I didn't think this one was any different than at similar places. The orange chicken came out as expected -- deep fried with a sweet tangy orange sauce. They deep fried a few pieces of orange rind which I thought was nice. The lunch comes with fried rice which is not very flavorful and just brown looking. Also came with some broccoli which was on the cooler side. For 6.50 it's not a bad deal.

Yaouza - I don't have to ask what happened, new ownership. On a visit a few months ago, a take order was incorrect and most was inedible. I was issued a credit for the items. Called back for another take out order (of the same items) a month later and they didn't have my credit because they had new owners. I still placed the order. For this pickup = After 15 minutes, I asked the gal to check on my order, as I had to get going. Gal said 5 more mins. After 8 minutes I asked her to check again and heard her yelling at someone in the back. She came out and said that they ran out of rice and are waiting for it to finish cooking. Cooks said it would be 15 more minutes and offered fried rice. Unfortunately, my other food was already done and getting cold and soggy. I told them forget it and ran out the door with what was ready. Got home and again, it wasn't edible. All Star chicken sauce is tasteless, they don't add cashews to it anymore, only 4 wontons in a large order of soup, but the spring rolls are still good. Fried wontons are cooked in oil that isn't the right temp. They are cutting corners and it isn't working out. I hope they get their act together soon.

I had a craving for Chinese so I gave Chinese Tonight a try since it was a short drive away. I could not find a menu online so I called and the girl who answered the phone was very helpful in guiding me to choose my order. I ordered the orange chicken (medium) with fried rice. And a side of fried wontons. The medium sauce wasn't too too hot. Next time I might step it up a notch to the hot. The fried rice is rather bland so I scooped some of the sauce and chicken on it and mixed it up. That is probably the way it is intended to be eaten anyway. The take out came in a quality plastic container that sealed nicely, not styrofoam. It was a nice large portion that could definitely be shared by 2. The wontons were the highlight of my meal. They were great dipped in the orange chicken sauce and I use them to scoop up the rice. This restaurant met my expectations of Chinese take out food. I would give it about a 7.5 out of 10.

I used to LOVE this place. I'd drive all the way to Chelsea just because I wanted some Chinese tonight. Today was a different story. Everything wrong. I ordered to go. When I got home and took the containers out of the bag, the szechuan sauce from one of the containers had leaked ALL OVER everything else in the bag. It was a mess to get the food out. They didn't put sweet and sour sauce in for my 2 orders of crab cheese. The crab cheese itself has about 1/3 the amount of cheese mix than it used to, and finally my fried rice had no flavor completely bland, dry, and chewy. I literally took 2 bites and threw it away. And for the first time in my life I was so disappointed that I couldn't even eat the crab cheese. I don't know what has happened to this place, and I'm not one to normally leave a bad review, but I was so disappointed I couldn't help myself. Sorry, Chinese Tonite, I won't be returning.

This is a decent Chinese restaurant. Probably could use a little remodeling as the appearance has gotten a bit dull but overall the food is generally pretty good. If I want buffet I go to the China Garden in the strip mall next to the one this one is in. If I want a Chinese dish cooked to order then I go here. Above average Chinese food. It's a little more expensive than the China Garden but on par with most non buffet Chinese restaurants.

For a small town chinese restaurant, its still not that good. Food always has a ton of starch in it, lots of sugar. Food is warm but not fresh. Dishes are mostly meat with little vegetables, which would be ok to some but the meat is always chewy and dry. The staff are always very nice, but unfortunately the food is so bad that I can't look past that.

Because the wife is out of town, I decided to order a take home container of chicken fried rice. She is not a fan of Chinese Tonight but it was my dinner, not her's. Her mom was making pizza while in Wisconsin visiting. Much to my dismay, the chicken fried rice was extremely dry and bland. I had planned on several meals with this order, but only ate a small bit and threw it all away. Now I have agree with my wife - if we want good Chinese food, we need to drive to Dexter and order from Food Zone. Not much of a catchy name, buy really good food.

Not knowing which Chinese place to try, out of the two in the same strip mall . We picked this place over China Garden because this was busy and the Garden was empty. There is definitely a reason folks chose Chinese Tonite. It is excellent food. This is now our Chinese restaurant of choice in the Chelsea area. We have been there multiple times. They have large portions, plan on ordering one less meal than you think you will need and share family style. Would have liked Wonton chips, but don't really need the calories, Decor is standard Chinese dining with paper place mats. Nothing special, but I go for the food, not the decor.

Our favorite place for chinese! They have the best General chicken I've found. I'm also hooked on the Jasmine tea.

I got takeout from this place last weekend. My cousins live in town and apparently order from Chinese Tonight pretty often. I got the orange chicken, all white meat, with medium spice and it was pretty good. The spice was just right for me and it had a nice orange flavor and the right amount of sweetness. I got the white rice because my cousins said the fried rice isn't that good. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor - not what I expected in a dinky Michigan town.

Strip mall Chinese food doesn't scream delicious for a reason. Simply it's never very good, but Chinese Tonight manages to be decent. It won't knock your socks off, but it's the best you'll get unless you head into Ann Arbor.

For takeout we ordered sweet and sour shrimp and chicken, orange chicken, chicken fried rice & crab rangoons.... so good, no complaints. HUGE portions!!! We had leftovers of everything! This was ordered for two women, one man and a four year old child.

Small but cute Chinese restaurant. It's kind of out of the way unless you live in this area. But they have a few good dishes. One which is bamboo shoots stir fried with pork. It's spicy and delicious. They also have good wide noodles stir friend with beef and vegetables. I think everything tastes good here because it's not the typical Chinese food, there is some kind of influence in the cooking. So I asked the owner some questions and found out her husband spent a good part of his life in Korea. I think that is why there is a slight twist to the food. It's far but I would try to come out here again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
