Good food but not sure if it's halal. Only gone twice because they don't know much about halal food and how it should be cooked and served separately

Not my favorite Chinese place in canton -- fried rice was kinda dry and flavorless, garlic chicken wasn't remarkable. General tso's was alright (according to my guest). Good egg roll, great Rangoon. Piping hot food - which is great. I'll try other places before coming here again.

This is our new favorite place to get Chinese food! Everything tasted great and service is very good too. The Egg rolls here were the best I've had anywhere else in the area. THEY HAVE BROWN RICE! Typical Chinese restaurants don't have that and that is a big plus. But really everything was better than many other Chinese Restaurants in the Plymouth/ Canton Area. I will definitely be back.

I stopped in at China House on a whim one evening after wandering around trying to figure out what I felt like eating. I pulled into a parking lot, powered up the old Yelp app on my phone, and was off in a flash. I'm pretty picky about Chinese food, and by my own admission I have a pretty narrow range of go-to dishes. These are the basis I use to judge all the Chinese I eat. The Yelp reviews on this place gave me hope, since my favorite other place (Ten Yen) was ~2o minutes away. China House is a mere 5 minutes from home, so oh very convenient. The place is SMALL, and clearly set up for carry out, although there are some booths for eating in as well. The staff was friendly and seemed to be mostly family. I ordered an Almond Chicken combo & a shrimp with lobster sauce combo to go (I couldn't decide between the two). All said and done, I ended up getting 4 meals out of them. The almond chicken had the perfect proportion of breading, and was tender and juicy. The gravy was a bit darker than I prefer, but overall not bad. The shrimp and lobster sauce was really good, with large & plentiful shrimp, and a nice sauce. The fried rice was easily some of the best I've had in any Chinese Restaurant, and I'd go back for that alone some time! The egg rolls were REAL egg rolls, not spring rolls. They were pretty good too, although I still prefer more bean sprouts in mine. I'll be making a return trip and follow up review in the future, to see if the tasty goodness can be duplicated, with some different dishes next time!

First, i'd like to start off by saying i love Chinese food. But this...wasn't good. Like at all. I ordered the Almond Chicken & shrimp fried rice. And it was ass-y. The rice was hard, there were like 4 shrimp in the rice. And the chicken had no taste.. I won't be going back there. Ever.

I have a peanut allergy. I found out the hard way that they seal their egg rolls close with peanut butter. Afraid to try anything else.

Not bad, everything had a little bit of sweetness, which I didn't really enjoy. But Hot n Sour soup was excellent. The lo mein noodles needed some salt and flavor, they were a bit on greasy side. 2 soups, 2 lo mein, 1 pt steak n onion, 1 hanan chicken cost around $40, which is great price!! if it was more than that I wouldn't want, cuz the food was quite on the bland side.

I took my parents (in their 70's) out to eat here after a flight. I had ordered carry out several times, but had not eaten in. The food was excellent. The egg rolls are the best. The restroom is extremely clean. I had the Orange Beef, my mom had Genera Tso's Chicken, and my Dad had Sweet & Sour Chicken. Everything was great.

Split some very happy Singapore rice noodles with my mom. Extra spicy as requested, they brought the real tongue tingles. The dish had lots of pieces of pork and shrimp and was perfectly cooked. Yum. We also had some egg rolls that were pretty pleasing to go with. My dad's chicken chop suey was not great but seriously when is chop suey a great idea? I would not order it anywhere myself but hey he is almost seventy so I guess his taste buds are different than mine. He liked it well enough. If that's all I had from here though I'd only rate this place a 2 or 3 star. Everything was packed nicely and ready in a flash. Definitely a good to go even as a walk in from off the street. If I go back solo I want to try some of that black general chicken Tareq likes. I have never sampled that varietal myself. They have a huge menu, full of standards. Nothing that will wow you or surprise you but for what it is it works. Lunch specials are all under 6 bucks and they have coupons on their to go menus. Bonus points to them for giving us the coupon rate without us even asking. They are super sweet.

Not the worst Chinese food, not the best either, The lo mein and chop suey was pretty good and not overly salty The honey chicken was bland and tasteless, akin to hospital food, What stood out the most was the curt service by the "no speak english wife" We ordered carry out, and the drill was order your food, get in, get out, No hellos, thank you or have a nice day, Not that I am sensitive but come on,, at least try. The future does not bode well for this place if they treat customers as an annoyance,

Recently moved into Canton from the downriver area (Chopstick Inn!) and every community has its fast-Chinese food places and I like to experiment until I find a fave. I have found my fave in Canton! China House (right next to a DQ and a CVS, two other places I visit often), is the perfect fast-Chinese place! Take out portions were huge! Got a General Tso's Dinner Combo for like 8 bucks and there was SO MUCH chicken! And it's Halal, so it's actually a little more pure chicken than fillers. We had enough for about 3 meals altogether (my main meal, a few pieces for my wife, and plenty for lunch the next day. Sauce wasn't particularly spicy enough, so order it Spicy (which made it perfect for me!) Also they have brown rice for $1 more! Of course it's still fast-Chinese food so it's not 100% healthy, but at least brown rice has more nutrients and fiber to make it a bit healthier. I may try some other places around us, but if I will visit here often!

Stopped by a rainy Sunday feeling the need for some comfort food and China House fit the bill. I went wild ordering ($69 bill!!!) and got cashew shrimp, beef with oyster sauce, sweet and sour chicken, almond chicken, house special fried rice, regular fried rice, seafood special, lemon chicken, crab ragoons, spring rolls, and wonton soup. I did have people at home to help me eat everything up and it was all good! The best was the lemon chicken! The chicken breasts were pounded thin and breaded with a panko crust that had lemon zest in it! It was so pretty and definitely company-worthy!

staff is horrible... to be fair, the daughter of the owner is being the place down. very poor attitude, rude to customers , this place only survives because there is no other halal Chinese place.

This new place just opened up in Canton. I tried their General Chicken. It was the best general chicken I have ever had! Why? THE TEXTURE!! I It may be to the new nature of their fryer or something. But the texture, was the crispiest general chicken I have ever had. On a side-note, they make the black-style general chicken here; not the red-colored version. I personally like the sweeter gingery black-version of General chicken. So it was great! Another day I had their a vegetarian tofu dish to try out a healthy alternative. Their prices for their vegetarian dishes are waaaay too high. They need to lower its price right away! It is priced exactly as their meat dishes; which I find ridiculous. The taste? Well, with tofu, they taste like any other place (which is NOT a bad thing; tofu is hard to work with); thus devaluing the price even more! But either way, they need to lower the price of their vegetarian dishes AND give a larger portion with the vegetarian dishes. Would definitely recommend. Only standard dishes; no hidden chinese menu.

Outstanding! We have been back twice in the last week...try the shrimp with lobster sauce with brown sauce instead of the white...great! Soups and appetizers are delicious... Our new favorite ...

We had take-out again, and wanted to try some different dishes. I'm left with wishing we had gone somewhere else, or that my pork chops had defrosted in time so we could have just eaten at home. I could have found a better use for my $30+ bucks I blew on dinner. My husband ordered the Hunan Chicken. Since the online menu doesn't offer a description of what vegetables are in which dish, or what type of sauce its in, its a crap shoot. Sure I could have asked the person who answered the phone what was in each dish, but I didn't want to have to. Hunan chicken seems to be one of those dishes that change from place to place, but my husband decided to roll the dice and hope China House had the Hunan chicken in the thick red, spicy sauce, with some assorted vegetables. He ended up with slightly spicy watery red sauce that coated a vast assortment of vegetables, with some chicken in it. Thankfully my husband really likes vegetables, and didn't gripe too much about it, although he did wonder how much meat was in our other dishes. The vegetables that I did taste out of this dish were cooked perfectly and really went well with the sauce. The kids shared an order of Almond Chicken, which I took a few bites of. IMO, there is no such thing as "good" Almond Chicken, since it is pretty much flavorless. This was some of the worst Almond Chicken I've had in a long time, and it was all due to the gravy. This gravy was so thick, I almost felt like I needed to chew it. Not that I make a habit of just eating gravy, but I licked the spoon. It makes you wonder if I licked the spoon, how I could have gotten so much. This gravy, even though it was pipping hot, was so thick that it was bordering on being gelatinous and clung to that spoon like a toddler clings to their mother. It had a weird texture to it, because it wasn't completely smooth and was slightly grainy. The after taste was salt and oil. The upside to this dish was that there was plenty of chicken, and it was cooked properly. I ordered the chicken Pad Thai, super spicy. I knew when I ordered it that it wasn't going to be the best Pad Thai ever made, since I wasn't ordering from a Thai place. I know this is akin to ordering a chicken dish at a steakhouse. I should admit at this point that I hate all things seafood. I know there is fish sauce in Pad Thai, but its all mind over matter for me. If I can't smell it, or taste something really fishy, then it doesn't exist. When I opened the container, a huge waft of fish sauce hit me. I decided to breathe through my mouth and pretend there was no fish sauce. The fish sauce taste was so strong, it was all I could taste. My husband tasted it and agreed that it was really fishy. While stirring the dish up, I noticed several things: this Pad Thai uses really skinny rice noodles, not the long wide noodles normally used. There was very little chopped peanuts on the dish. There was no citrus slice to squirt across my noodles for that extra layer of flavor. However their version of Pad Thai includes green peppers, some cabbage and some carrots. There wasn't a ton of those vegetables, but enough to make me wonder if they were meant to be there, or if the wok hadn't been cleaned out before me and had some other dishes leftovers in it. While I asked for it super spicy, there was no heat whatsoever. Thankfully I had a little container of spice left over from a local Thai place from a different meal. That added spice made this dish edible. The best part of our meal was the egg drop soup. Not that this soup was over the top wonderful, but it just shows how ~meh~ the rest of our meal was. Our family is done with China House. There is better Chinese to be had in the area.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
