Nice fresh selection of entrees. Good options for appetizers.

Ate here on a whim. We saw it from the road and it looked like a good place so we stopped. The concept sounds cool. We didn't get anything that came with a fire rock but the food was pretty good. My wife had the burger and I had the perch sandwich. The burger was seasoned really well, however undercooked. She ordered well and got med-well. My sandwich was great. I had a hard time finishing everything so the portions are good too. The server seemed a bit distracted. And it took a little longer to take our order and get our drinks (water) than it should have because they were not busy. Overall this seems like a good place. It was clean and it smelled great when we walked in. I would definitely give it a second try given the opportunity.

Had the ahi tuna. It was great. Five of my girlfriends and I decided to try a new place and all came here tonight for dinner and drinks. Food was good, even though the server didn't ring in one of our dinners right so we didn't get the halibut but an additional tuna dish. At 7pm, three of the ladies stalls didn't toilet paper and the bathrooms were TRASHED! Water all over counters, broken soap container, paper all over the floor. We told the manager and he blamed it on the hostesses. The five of us walked out the door, past the manager who was heavily involved with chatting up the hostesses and we didn't get one goodbye, thanks for coming in, etc. from the three of them. It was strange. Our table was about a $400 sale. The tuna was great. We likely wouldn't come back. Service and management not so great. Clean the bathrooms!!!

This place was just awful. We were hopeful of finding a decent restaurant in the Caledonia area, and despite the mixed reviews, we gave it a shot. The hostesses were all rude and non welcoming. While our waitress was sweet, the food was bland, and soaking in grease. We left hungry and disappointed. Not going back!!

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but the food is B.A.D. (Bland, Average, Disappointing). Low grade/quality ingredients, tasted like reheated, frozen, overly processed food. My poor hubby had stomach issues that night. The decor is alright and kind of reminded me of some of the semi-themed restaurants on the outskirts of the Las Vegas strip. There is an outdoor seating area and fire pit which is nice for groups, but the food is just awful and SO overpriced for what it is. The service was generic, our server did a decent job bringing food and refilling drinks, but nothing above and beyond in terms of exuding a bit of personality or sincerely listening. We tipped 20% like we always do though. It's far off if you live in Grand Rapids and definitely not worth the drive in my opinion. Charley's Crab in GR is so much better for those prices. If you really need to try it, then go to their all day Wednesday happy hour at least you'll be paying for what you get if you buy the few happy hr items (1/2 of apps and pizza + drink specials).

The only thing we were disappointed in was the service at the beginning. Our waitress had gotten slammed and we didn't know it so waiting for 10+ minutes for drink order. Someone got us water within 5 minutes and then later when she noticed we were looking around told us our waitress' situation and took our drink order. Once we saw our server she did a great job. Food was very good. I had petite filet. It is very petite but flavor was melt in your mouth. The goat cheese appetizer was very good also. They even made a chicken bacon ranch pizza for my daughter which was not on the menu. Go between 3-6 for Happy hour drink prices and $3 off appetizers. The only thing I am unsure of is whether you have to make reservations if not members. My husband had done this already.

Cant comment on the food because they could not accommodate for our party of 10. The sassy hostess said that was "not a thing" even though the parking lot was empty. Not "open to the public" must have a reservation or be a member

The service staff was pleasant and reasonably quick. The French onion soup was decent. That's where the positive part ends. We were visiting home from Florida and decided to leave the kids with family for a quick mom and dad only lunch. Yelp reviews were overall positive, so we gave FireRock a try. When we first sat down I was disappointed to read the menu and see the house's signature dishes were signature in that they were served with a hot lava rock so you could cook it yourself. I typically go to a restaurant so a trained/experienced chef can cook my food, not for a 'do it yourself' experience. Since we were there for lunch and not a large entrée, we moved ahead undaunted. We started with the lettuce wraps. Immediate disappointment when they arrive the table. A pile of brown shredded chicken (tasting like canned meat in soy sauce) topped with carrots, accompanied by a pile of iceberg lettuce to again 'do yourself.' The main course was soup and salad. The roasted wild mushroom soup tastes like canned mushroom soup with fresh mushrooms added. But, how can you go wrong with a spicy chicken sandwich as the main dish? Here is how: don't call it "roasted garlic & jalapeño cream sauce" if it's mayonnaise. To sum up, a terrible disappointment, and we will not be returning.

We had the opportunity to share a meal with friends at the Fire Rock Grill today, 10-5-14. We had (between the four of us) the shrimp with crepes, the roasted vegetables, the sirloin, and the roasted vegetables with shrimp. All served with the trademark 500 degree slab of granite on which your meal finishes cooking AND stays warm to the end of the meal. The servings were not large for the price, as I would have thought that $14 for roasted veges plus $4 extra to add shrimp would have left me with some to take home, but instead I helped my wife finish the huge amount of fries that came with her steak, and a bite if the sirloin. The meals were great! Flavors were excellent, service not intrusive but stopped by often enough. Her steak looked a lot more like a filet mignon, I can say that was great, also. $39 and change for both meals as we only had water.

First time at Firerock, great meal, fun experience, service was excellent. We had a group of 10 people on a busy Saturday night and the staff knocked it out of the park.

Some friends & I went here for restaurant week. We all loved it! The FireRock name is because they serve food on a lava rock that continues to cook it until you remove it. We started with lettuce wraps and salads. I had the watermark salad which I thought was really good. I love me a salad with greens, nuts, fruit and cheese! For entrees my friends both had the fire rock bistro steak with truffle fries. They both said it was very good. I tried their fries - I thought they were decent. I had the vodka pasta w/ grilled chicken. I really enjoyed it, the chicken had great flavor. The portion was huge! I ended up taking about half of it home. I had the peanut butter pie for dessert which was fantastic! One of the best I have ever had! Both of my friends had the lemon tart which was pretty tasty too! The service was great, the food yummy, the atmosphere comfortable and the bathrooms were clean! They have some great looking specials different nights of the week and I can't wait to go back & try them!

We went for lunch and were seated fairly quickly. Our waitress was great! However, I thought it was pretty overpriced for what you get. I got the 1/2 lbs steak burger and I thought it was closer to a 1/4 lbs. I asked for it medium and it was definitely cooked well done. Glad I payed extra for cheese to cover the dryness of it. I also opted to pay extra for fries and though they tasted great, qty was pretty lacking. Food took a bit longer than expected as well especially seeing is we were one of the very few tables filled at the time. All in all, it wasn't horrible food but definitely not worth the price in my opinion...

Went to FireRock Grille on a Sunday night. Really enjoyed the patio, the sunset and atmosphere. I always enjoy a little music and it was either very low or non existent. But that was my only (very minor) complaint. Happy Hour prices are fantastic with many items half off. My favorite was the lettuce rolls... our server got pretty busy a few times and a manager stepped in to help.... love the team work.

We eat here at least once a month. Easily our favorite restaurant in the Gaines Township area.

Went here for a work Christmas party. Everything went off without a hitch. The food was pretty good and service was friendly.

Waited 10 minutes to be greeted and seated but nobody ever bothered to see if there were customers waiting at the hostess desk. Could hear the staff laughing in the kitchen. Walked out at that point and won't be returning. Horrible first impression.

I have dined here several times and have to say I will probably not return. My husband and I chose to stop on January 2, 2013 for a quick dinner. I realize that the $10 steak dinner will not get me a prime cut of beef, but this was too tough to enjoy. Had it been only the steak I would not be writing this review, but passing off a pile of mashed potatoes with wallpaper paste consistency with truffle olive oil poured over top as truffle mashed potatoes does not make for a pleasant dining experience. The server was pleasant and offered a $5 coupon good for our NEXT visit. I declined.

Maybe I am biased because it is in my "hood", but my wife and I must eat here once a month. Have never encountered poor service and every meal has been good. Menu is highly diverse covering a good price range with entrees under 10 to 25. Atmosphere is contemporary and comfortable. The season is now past, but we love the patios and outdoor bar. By far the best choice for any occasion in South metro area. Typically causal live entertainment on weekends in the bar or outdoors by the fire pits in the summer.
