The Big Boy in Cadillac is really convenient for breakfast if you are staying at The Hampton Inn or The Holiday Inn - both of which are just up the road, less than a mile or so. I had an omelette with mushrooms, broccoli, bell pepper, onions, sausage, and cheese, plus a side of bacon and a cup of coffee. Service was friendly. It took a while for our food to come out, but they were pretty busy and they got slammed all at once I guess. My one wish was that they offered the option for spinach in their omelettes - which they do not. The Omelette was pretty tasty - although I added black pepper and hot sauce to it to make it better (they offer Frank's Hot sauce) Coffee was pretty decent for restaurant coffee.

I'm an out-of-towner, but I know my Big Boy restaurant. It's a staple food back in Cincinnati. So when I saw there was a BigBoy off the exit on my way to the UP, I had to make my bf pull over. I was extremely disappointed in my chili. I don't know if they have a different supplier up here in MI, but all I can use to describe it is "goopy". Instead of meat and beans in that delicious chili sauce, it tasted like they dumped a can of bland Hormel into my container. Yuck. My bf said his turkey club was fine. But that's it, just fine. I'm going to stick with Ohio BigBoys (owned by Frisch) from now on.

We were on our way to Traverse City for a family vacation and stopped here for dinner. The service was very slow, even thought the place was almost empty. The food looked good, but didn't taste very good. I ordered unlimited alfredo with a side of Mac-n-cheese. The noodles were not cooked fully, and the pasta sauces were too salty. The mac n cheese looked and tasted like someone had melted velveeta and mixed it with it, and the Alfredo sauce was runny. My sister got unlimited spaghetti and said that her sauce was runny too. Never was a fan of Big Boy, and never going to this one again.

On separate occasions I've had sickening experiences. The salad bar has had molding food. A friend of mine was brought rice that was moving with maggots. I should have called the health department. This place needs to be shut down and bulldozed. Please do not eat here and do not support an operation that is so careless, filthy, and lacks any kind of standard. Absolutely unacceptable and very serious problems here.

when journeying off into new areas of life sometimes there's a piece of your mind that seeks out something safe, like a hand rail to hold onto just in case your culo is not ready to endure the new newness that lies ahead. so in hindsight I now understand my need to peek my piehole into this retro stepback into 1970's safeness, where food was comforting, not always the healthiest for your arteries, but where mom and dad were always in the front seat on those long road trips where gas was $.26/gal for full service and howard johnson motels were clean and promises of cool pools and rootbeer floats... its more of a 2.7 kind of place, but in context and the fact that I liked my waitress...I'll give it a 4 in the wilderness rating. anyways, Big Boy as a franchise has always remained the beacon of fat noms and friendly enough waitresses providing little islands of comfort along the roads of cold and darkness. decent enough breakfast and salad bar items. not too many surprises, except for maybe the Eli's cheesecake available in the front counter case. Clean enough restroom. Just keep expectations low and be glad that places like this still exist to help keep the mad men years alive for decades to maybe come.
