Shogun Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Not many people in the restaurant, but they couldn't seat us because they didn't have enough menus?? Then we sat for a good 15-20 min without any server even approaching us. I had to summon who I felt was the manager. The food was so-so but the service was awful. Incredibly slow. I found out later that who I thought was Mgr. was actually the owner. He didn't seem to want to take responsibility for the terrible service. Won't be going back there. Total time to get dinner for 3 was 2 hours. Totally unacceptable.

Too bad you can't give negative stars. DO NOT GO HERE- the management will argue with you!!! Food was ok, service was the worst I have ever had. Waited an insanely long time, even though there was no one else in the restaurant, only to be ignored by our rude and offensive waitress. If we wouldn't have had a coupon, we would have walked out. After our food orders were all wrong, naturally there were issues with our check. Upon confronting the manager about the mistakes, she went to get a menu and argued with us (even though we were clearly right)!!! I have never been so insulted in my life, we will never go back! Blue Fin Steakhouse in Howell is amazing, save yourself the headache and go there!

The service is awful and the food is below average. The restaurant was almost completely empty on a Thursday evening, which should have been our first sign we were in for a bad experience. It took 19 minutes after we sat down for the waitress to come over and get our drink order. After that, it took her far longer than usual to bring back our drinks (all straightforward - no mixed drinks or specialty items). We ordered a few sushi rolls and entrees between 5 of us. The chinese entrees were fine, but the quality wasn't any better than what you get from a carry-out place in a strip mall. The sushi was poorly rolled and slimy. I was completely insulted by the level of service we received and I would not recommend this restaurant to ANYBODY. There have been several restaurants in and out of this suite at Lee Rd. over the past several years - I will not be surprised if this restaurant is out of business soon.

Wow. My Boyfriend and I had been here once before- We had a pretty good experience, tasty food, decent service. We did not have Hibachi- so I cannot comment on that. HOWEVER, I returned here last week with my Aunt and my Boyfriend and we had the most ridiculous service ever. We were greeted by our waiter about 10 minutes after sitting down (the place was dead, mind you). There were so many mistakes made, it was unacceptable. I ordered a glass of cabernet and the other two ordered a beer. When the waiter finally returned with drinks (10 minutes later) I was presented with a glass of white wine. As he set it down on the table he said, "Here's your SHABANAY." What?? What the heck is that? He created a new wine, apparently!?! I asked him to return that wine and please get me CABERNET, which is red. My aunt was under the assumption that her beer was draft, but it came in a bottle. She asked if she could get a glass, his response was "Would you like ice with that glass?". Riiiiight. Because everyone drinks beer with ice. We laughed it off and hoped for the best. Still had no clue what we were in for... Our Server returned with our soups and my Aunt reminded him again of her need for a glass. We started to dig in to our Wonton Soup when we realized that he forgot our "crunchies". Wowza, really?? After about two spoonfuls I look at my boyfriend and say "Does your soup taste like pure salt?". He agreed and we told the waiter. He responded by saying- "Yeah that's the bottom of the batch, would you like us to make you some more?" No thanks. By this time our waiter was becoming increasingly more awkward and almost comical. I could have sworn we were being punked. He returns around 20 minutes later with our food and says to me- "I'm so sorry- because of my own incompetence, they just started to make your sweet and sour chicken, so you'll have to wait a bit" My Aunt and Boyfriend received theirs just fine, and I couldn't take the ridiculous-ness anymore. I asked him to please cancel my order- I will just pick from the other plates. I know that he heard me, but continued to walk away. He arrived with my chicken about 10 minutes later and I reminded him that I wanted it cancelled. He looked at me dumbfounded. We all just laughed and said- there is NO way anyone could be this incompetent.. is this his first day?? Meanwhile, we watched him spill a whole plate of food on the people in the booth behind us!!! The food was pretty decent- but I could tell my sweet and sour chicken was an afterthought. Our server came by the table and said-"Despite the obvious mix-ups would you say your experience here today was good??" Ummm- Absolutely NOT! We asked to speak with the manager and all he offered to do was take 10$ off our bill. We received the check (which my chicken was charged, even though I had cancelled it ) then I pulled out my credit card and left to use the restroom. When I returned, awkward server dude was hovering around our table like a peeping Tom. I'm not sure what he was concerned about but he said "Oh, I see the cardholder's back." YEAH Buddy, I am back- could you give me a second to look over the bill and sign it?? Geeez! We all agreed that we expected Ashton Kutcher to pop out at any second. I'm sure there were more mix-ups and awkward moments, but I'd like to think it was so unbelieveable that I blocked it from memory. It's really a shame because the food (chinese) is pretty good. Waitstaff, Management, etc- wayyy below par for the above-average price. We will not be returning after our experience. PS- We also did not receive fortune cookies with our check- so I happily reached into the bucket by the hostess stand and swiped three on my way out. ;)

Horrible experience. I took my family out to this restaurant on Saturday, April 6th. They cooked bad meat. The shrimp was tough. The chicken was old and had E.Coli. My spouse and step-son who both ate the chicken became deathly ill. Two days have gone by and my spouse is still feeling terrible, can't hold anything down and will probably have to go to the hospital. It seems that this, as well as many other Asian restaurants that don't have high volume, use very old meat since many don't have morals or ethics to discard bad food. Instead they keep it and cook it up for some American sucker who will eat it. This is why I never go to Asian buffets. Same deal. And to think that this bogus place cost me $200 to eat there now I have to pay for a trip to the hospital. I'll be contacting the health department next since they people shouldn't be allowed to run a restaurant. This place should be SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY.

My wife and I were pretty excited to see a new restaurant joining the Green Oaks Village area, and I was particularly pleased to see that it was a Chinese place. Brighton has a couple of Chinese offerings, but I don't consider them much good--so I've got to travel to Howell to get my fix. Shogun's arrival offered the hope of driving just a few minutes to have both Chinese and Japanese. Alas, after two visits (one dine-in, one takeout), both my wife and I came to the same conclusion: It's a pass. The problems begin as soon as you walk through the door. The hostess asks, "Chinese or Japanese?" Even I was perplexed on how to answer that: What if I want General Tso's Chicken, but I also want some sushi? What the hostess *really* means is, "Do you want a table, or to sit at the hibachi grill?" The latter question makes much more sense and is a lot clearer, and indeed gives the hostess an option of explaining just what the hibachi is--I'd think that's a convenient time to do some upselling. After that, things really don't improve. The first time we were there was shortly after they opened, perhaps a couple of weeks or so. When we arrived, I noticed that the sign advertising "Rotisserie Chicken" was still in a window at the back, so I joked with the waiter, "How's the rotisserie chicken here?" His response was automatic: "It's pretty good!"...and he was serious. I pointed out that the sign was from the previous restaurant, and he tried to cover by saying that the rotisserie ovens were still in the building, so that's why he was confused. The situation only got worse from there. Repeatedly he offered to find my wife some Splenda, rather than the pink stuff, assuring her "We definitely have it, I'll bring it to you soon." Of course, it never arrived. Distressingly, the air conditioner wasn't working the entire time we were there (it was on a hot summer day), and while we were frequently told that someone was coming to work on it, no one ever showed...and we were never offered any sort of recompense. Heck, I would have even taken a free bowl of ice cream...something, anything. What of the food, though? I think it's telling that I just don't really remember. I recall the fried rice wasn't really fried, and the General Tso's Chicken was just swimming in sauce (way too much). The sushi was sub-par even for a restaurant that caters to two cuisines...I've had better at some Chinese buffets--the spicy tuna wasn't chopped but instead looked pureed. That part I do recall, since I'm always on the lookout for good sushi. We left feeling very unsatisfied. But, as is our custom, we try to give a restaurant a second chance when we can. So a few weeks later, we ordered takeout for dinner. Here, I don't recall at all what we ordered, aside from the sushi--both my wife and I got something. This time was even more disappointing than the last. My wife got a roll that had cucumber instead of seaweed, and found that it was nearly floating in liquid (water? dressing? who knew?). My sushi was equally bad--mushy rice and no flavor. The entrees were bad enough that we didn't even save them for lunch the next day; we hate throwing away food, so this says something. And of course, while waiting for my takeout in the lobby, I saw many patrons entering the restaurant confused at the question, "Chinese or Japanese?" I think I have an answer to the question now: "Neither. Just plain bad."

We just left the new Shogun Japanese steak house in the Village Plaza in Brighton, MI, Wow! I never had a bad experience like this in a restaurant before. Nor have commented about one. First, when we entered, there were four workers standing at the desk and no one welcomed us, they just stood around then asked "how many". This is minor unless you add it to the rest of the evening. We ordered. When the food came, we did not get any serving utensils or plates, then the rice came ten minutes later, and by that time I noticed they gave me the wrong order. The waiter was very nice and was trying hard but you could tell the management did not train him very well. Fifteen minutes later no corrected food. So we asked for the manager. She came and we explained the situation. She went back and got my order only to have that one be the wrong order as well. When I pointed out my order on the menu to indicate the ingredients, the manager did not know the difference! Wow! She did not know her own food. Yikes! Now I've been around and have eaten in many places and had things happen. Good managers know when to take care of a situation and make it better. They find a way. Bad managers do nothing and blame the help, which is what this one did. Shame on her. It's not the waiters fault. What a shame that all this could have been diminished and we would consider coming back or recommending Shogun in the Village place, but we can't. It was the worst experience I have ever had.

We opted for the Japanese/grill side. Once we were seated, the staff ignored us for close to a half-hour, apparently waiting for more people to come so that they could fill a table. Eventually the waitress came and once the ball got rolling, service was decent. I liked that some of our party could order from the 'Japanese' menu and others could get sushi or prepared dishes from the 'Chinese' side. The waitress tried to get everything served at the same time and was semi-successful. The food itself was good, nothing outstanding and nothing terrible. Hot and sour soup was very good. The chef messed up my order but fixed it promptly; the waitress made a minor mistake on one of the sushi orders and also fixed that quickly. All in all, our experience was not as bad as other reviewers' but also not something I would go out of my way for. At over $200 for six people, it really needs to be excellent, and this was not.

Bad experience. In and out in 10 minutes for Sunday lunch. We sat down, a waitress asked us what to drink in a commanding voice. They had gave us the flyers that has lunch special prices for habachi, then our very unfriendly waitress inform us there are not. Unfriendly staff, expensive and confusing. Left without eating.

We did not have the experience others have had! The other family at our hibachi also had a child's birthday and the chef acknowledged both of them (server brought giant ice creams out afterward, too!). We were seated immediately and the presentation and service began right away. All of our food was served hot and cooked thoroughly (my steak was perfect). We will definitely go back again!

The one time I came here was because my boyfriend had a coupon for Shogun so we figured we would try it. We decided to sit on the hibachi side, b oth of us previously had worked at different hibachi restaurants before so we decided to compare what we thought of it. I ordered filet, and he ordered the scallops. I asked for my filet medium and it was cooked so rare the middle was still cold when I bit into it. My boyfriends scallops were cold in the middle and when telling the chef he literally questioned "really?" As if he didn't believe us. The rice was mediocre. And it took him less than 10 minutes to cook everyone at the tables food. Record timing for the coldest food I guess. When we called to tell the manager about the chef not cooking the food long enough he just said "Ok thanks" and hung up the phone. We will never be back here everything about it is terrible and the don't deserve to stay open if they don't care what customers think or say. Every time I drive by the place is dead.

A friend suggested this place for dinner one night and after seeing the reviews I was very hesitant to go, but I'm glad we did. We went for hibachi and had a blast! Food was good and not too pricey. Waitstaff was very friendly. I went a second time and just ordered sushi. It took a while but it was very good. Although I will say I'm new to eating sushi. I have not tried the Chinese food here. If you're undecided about coming to eat here just give it a try for yourself! I'm glad I did. I will come again for hibachi and sushi with friends anytime.

Great food. The cooks on the hibachi side put on a great show and are very personable. I was nervous because of all the poor reviews regarding service at this particular location but I didn't find the service to be nearly offensive as the reviews state. Mostly it's just that the servers are quite young so they're not really able to help with alcohol recommendations and the like. There are several big screen tv s in the restaurant but they're tastefully placed and not distracting.

  • Kristina J.

The food was average but the service was horrible. Our waiter was almost non existent and when he did come over, everything was wrong. He didn't bring out soup before another person brought our meals and when we asked him to take it off he claimed it comes after the entree. What? Also, we got charged for a more expensive roll on the bill when we ordered a different one. He told us it was the correct one though. The only brightness in this was we got to give a really good example to our son on why not to do drugs.

The food was fine, nothing special, but the service was extra slow and poor on a very slow night.

Bad I will never go back. My Daughter and I went in to have some sushi. She took our order brought us our tea then didn't see her for at least twenty minutes. When I asked another server if he could get our miso soup he came back and said our server was busy. The place was empty we where the only people in the place. The sushi chef was texting on his phone the whole time and never made us our sushi. I left $10 on our table and left.

At first I was wondering why this place had bad reviews. Now I see why. The food wasn't great but not necessarily bad. The service was ok. Then two guys from the kitchen came out on break and decided to watch tv on their phone as loud as they could. So while having lunch we had to listen to 90s rock and Chinese fighting movies/ soap opera. To top it off the bathroom was disgusting. Boo to this place.

My husband and I went to celebrate our first month of being married. It was a Monday night, so we figured it wasn't going to be busy. There were two other families finishing up, leaving us the only people on the hibachi side (there was one couple on the sushi side). The food was good, the waitress was OK, the chef was OK. I understand you don't really want to put on a performance for two people, but we are still paying $75 for our dinner. I felt the waitress could have asked me if I wanted more wine or taken our plates sooner. Overall, it was OK.

Truthfully, I have wanted to stick it out with Shogun for *so long.* The concept of a place where I can pick up sushi for myself and Chinese for my family (who don't eat sushi) is so very appealing. The sheer number of times that they've screwed up my order though is actually mind-bending. What's more, they don't seem to actually care that they screw up. This last time, they forgot to include rice (what?!?!) in my order and the fortune cookies were inedible (just shy of moist). When we called to explain that we had to make rice at home while our food got cold because they had (once again) messed up our order, they would not offer a credit but instead promised that the next time we came in, they could offer us extra rice for no charge... well, that's just... not helpful at all. Thanks, Shogun. I'll be getting my sushi and Chinese at separate venues now just to avoid the disaster that is this place.

I went there on 10/10/14 with my boyfriend. There was a 15 minute wait so we were told to go to the bar. The place was pretty dead on a Friday night around 8pm. There was no bartender and we had to flag someone down. The same girl who was at the hostess desk showed up and attempted to make our drinks. Simple Vodka cranberry but she was not familiar with the vodka's and didn't know where anything was. That was annoying. She was dressed extremely casual with a scarf on her head. Finally after 45 minutes we were seated with another couple and told to scoot right next to them. That would have been fine if more guests showed up for the hibachi but didn't. Appetizers were slow and the only reason I stayed was because I was super hungry and it was 9pm already. Mediocre food. Took a long time to even collect the check. Only and last time!

After sitting for 15 minutes with no wait staff in sight, the hostess FINALLY noticed us (she had walked by at least 4 times) and asked if we had been helped. She then wandered off, and stood behind the hostess stand, making NO attempt to get us waited on. After 20 minutes we gave up and left. As we walked out the door the Hostess said on a snotty tone 'Have a GREAT night.' NO apology. NO explanation. NO attempt to make it right. We will not be back.

I hesitantly give this place a good review after hearing so many bad ones, however I did have a good experience so here we go. I went for the lunch the other day, only for sushi not hibachi. The place was DESERTED, but I was alone and looking for a quiet lunch so that was fine with me. I figured if service was bad I could tolerate it for 30 mins, eat my lunch, and go. I went in and was seated right away, which again wasn't surprising since the place was dead. I ordered two sushi rolls, the red wing roll which is off the "special roll" menu and then a simple white tuna roll. The sushi came out really quickly and was delicious! The redwing roll was just spicy enough not too spicy and the white tuna roll was plain and fresh as it should be. I even got a diet coke refill without asking. I'm not a hibachi fan, so I don't think I'd go there for hibachi, but I'll definitely try the sushi again and see if I was just lucky or if it's really that cood consistently.

Went to Shogun with my husband's family on Friday night. Was excited to try this place, since I had yet to go. I'm going to try to be as nice as possible. We ordered sushi for an appetizer, which was not that bad, but I could say Sushi Zen, still has the best sushi in Brighton. We also had the hibachi dinners, which again, were just ok. I think Sagano's is probably your best bet for a better Japanese Steak House. Will I return? Hmmm...it'll be awhile.

I really want to like this place. At one point a few years ago, Shogun was my favorite restaurants in Brighton. The food is pretty good, especially compared to similar restaurants in the area, and the interior is very nice. Since my initial visit, over the course of another 20 visits or so, the service has proceeded to get worse and worse. The last three visits in particular, when ordering appetizers, the waiters / waitresses have effectively delivered our appetizers (spring rolls) as we were halfway through our dinners. This last time, I specifically asked the waiter to bring the spring rolls before our meals, and still they came midway through our dinner. They clearly do not have an experienced manager running the operation and at any given time you will find more high school aged employees sitting around on their cell phones than patrons. On a previous visit, our waiter was clearly high. In the two times we saw him over the course of an hour and half experience, he was wearing a backwards baseball cap, reeked of weed and struggled to complete a sentence. The most frustrating part of the experience was that there wasn't a manager around to address the situation. I'm extremely curious as to how they are still in business. The other restaurants in the same area (BWWs, Jamesons, Johnny Carinos, etc.) never seem to be slow, but Shogun's parking lot is always empty. Like I said, the food is good and the interior of the restaurant is extremely nice, but the service is the worst I have ever seen at any restaurant. I haven't seen more than 1 other seated table at the restaurant in the past year of visiting. I'm holding out hope that they will get new management, but until then, I am finally done with Shogun.

If I could put no stars I would. One word "gross". Rice had no flavor at all or whatever it was was not good. Chinese at the mall is 10x better than this place.

Walked in to only one other table there and lots of dirty tables with employees just standing around . Hostess looked as though she just got out of bed. Server (if you call him that ) had a hat on backwards and a coat looked like a patron that just came in off the street . Food took forever, wasn't good. Terrible all around is all I can say. Will be sticking to pi's

Exceptionally poor service and management. Food is delicious, but we have been here 5 times before this. All involved distracted, lethargic, careless service from everyone from the host to the wait staff. Chefs are great. But they're losing a ton of tip money because of their absent servers. Even management seems apathetic. I really hope their leadership steps up because this could be an amazing restaurant. Until it's under new management, I would suggest you go elsewhere.

Terrible service. Terrible food. What else can be said. Had the sushi and the rice was waterlogged. Service was ungodly slow.

  • Jiggity J.

The service was ok, the appetizer and soup were quite good. Didn't have any hibachi or sushi but rather 'the special dinner for two.' It doesn't really matter what we ordered because they were both equally bland. I could probably liken the quality of food here to college cafeteria - if you liked your college cafe, you can ignore this analogy. Curiously, the vegetables seemed fresh, but the beef was anything but. Not only could I tell by its consistency, but some fully cooked pieces were cold on my plate while others were piping hot. So my wife and I basically paid 40-some dollars with waters (and tip) for a bland reheated meal. I would have complained about the cold beef, but I doubted that microwaving it a second time would make it taste good. Could other things there be good and not completely embarrassing? Sure I guess, but after probably the mostly baffling experience I've had at a nice sitdown Asian restaurant, I doubt I'll ever know now.

  • Patty D.

Service was terrible. We sat at a booth, not the hibachi, and waited a long time for food. Then we received an incorrect entree. (We had to ask for silverware twice.) The waitress offered to leave the wrong food while they made a new one. When she brought the correct entree she literally picked up the other plate, mid bite! For what? To throw it out? Then we never saw her again. Water was never refilled. Our waitress was socializing behind the bar so we had to go over there to pay our check. Check was split incorrectly.....one was five dollars more than the other. Had to do it again. Food was decent, but it was not a pleasant experience. We never had a manager or anyone come by to see if things were ok. There are too many other good places to go in Brighton, and next time that's what we'll do. I predict this restaurant will be closed in the next year. It's a shame. Just basic customer service is all it takes.

Like another review said, if I could give this 0 stars, I would. Worst service ever. We had to share menus. I waited about half an hour for a water. It was for a birthday and one i our party got the large flaming volcano drink that apparently came with a fly in it as when the server was told, she acted as if we had put it in there. I actually thought my friend was joking about the fly by the servers response. after all of this at least you would hope the food would be good. Sadly, it is not. It's pretty terrible actually. I ate two pieces of my 8 piece maki. I actually have no idea how this place is in business. Good location and building, terrible everything else. Avoid it. If you want sushi, go to sushi zen. if you want hibachi, go to sagano. Or even sift through a garbage can as you would get better food quality and avoid the horrible service.

Gave this place 3 try's and tonight was the last time... Only good item on the menu was the plum wine and beer. Service was poor all 3 times. Sushi was below average, chinese on our first visit was ok, this time my husband ordered Bangkok noodles and was served a solid hunk of pasta.. Told the server and he just shrugged his shoulders. Will not go back! Worst Asian meal we have ever had in a local Brighton Asian restauraunt. Do not recommend.

Shogun was absolutely delicious!! I had wonderful service and enjoyed my General Tso's chicken. Friendly staff, clean and inviting ambiance, good food & good prices, will definitely return!

So after many positive visits to the hibachi side, we gave the Chinese a shot. The general taos chicken was seriously some of the best we've ever had! Huge chunks of all white chicken, without the gristle or mystery meat found in some places. And the sauce tasted homemade with pieces of garlic & spices. They are offering happy hour M-Thur with 25% off the total bill, which makes it very affordable to enjoy for a weeknight meal. Last time we ran into a little hiccup with our bill, however they we very polite & fast about taking care of it, which is the customer service you like to see & still doesnt put a dimmer on the awesome meal we had. The egg rolls & egg drop soup were great too! We would try other items on the Chinese side however the general taos was so good, I don't know if I could walk in & not order it....really you just have to give it a try, you wont be disappointed!!

I went to this place today for dinner to try it out using a Groupon I bought. We ordered four sushi rolls (3 special rolls and 1 regular). The sushi was good. Our waitress was personable and prompt. My problem is two-fold. 1) This wasn't a good value compared to other sushi restaurants I've tried. At Sagano, for instance, they include tea, salad, and soup with your meal... no charge! This place offered no such perks. 2) The management unilaterally changed the redemption process of the Groupon. They required that the Groupon be printed, even though that is not stated on the voucher and not the normal process for redemption. If the management of Shogun wants to try to make this up to me, I'll listen to their offer, but I don't hold much hope of that happening. Sagano offers consistently good service, great sushi, and a good value compared to this place. Sagano has nothing to fear from Shogun!

Decided to try this for the first time. This was at 5pm. Walked in and there were only maybe 3-5 tables occupied. It took a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us coming in. We opted for the "Chinese" option, you can't order one or the other. The attention from the waitress was below average, when it was time to order we asked a couple simple questions, but I think there was a translation gap. When we asked about green/red peppers in a certain dish, waitress stated there were and so we requested no peppers. Next was X dish, was it spicey? "Yes the beef X is spicy", Ok I'll have that, but I want chicken, not beef. (meat selections are given as options). Note: The waitress at no time wrote anything down. When the meals came, they both were incorrect, The first one had peppers, the other had beef not chicken. They were both overly sauced too. We will never go here again, overly priced, average food, with below average service.

PLEASE DO NOT DINE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want this style of cuisine, go to Sagano! We were seated and waited nearly 20 minutes before we had drinks (even water) in front of us. The waitress forgot to put in our appetizer/sushi order, and after we had already been there for over an hour, the chef comes out to start cooking our entrees, and we had to ask where the sushi was. Then we got to listen to the sushi chef cuss her out in japanese while he made our sushi, which was pretty entertaining. When we finally had food in front of us, it was the appetizer, the sushi, our soups, our salads, AND the entrees all at the same time. Bravo!!! We probably would not have minded as much if the girl would have at least kept bringing our drinks, but they sat empty. When she asked us how everything was, my boyfriend replied, "everything is great but the service." Normally I would have been mortified by such rudeness, but he was soooooo right on. The overall taste of the food was fine, except they use frozen vegetables for the teppanyaki instead of fresh. I had the White Tuna, which is my favorite sashimi fish, so I wanted to try it seared. At the time I thought it was delicious.... and I spent the entire next day on the toilet. I was SO sick... and that's really saying something, as I have never had food poisoning in my life. I've eaten some seriously questionable stuff and never even so much as hiccuped. So what was in that food??? Save your intestines, hours of wasted time, and wallet and stay away from this place!!!

We came here for our first time using a Groupon. I ordered sushi, my wife ordered almond chicken. I have to admit, I was impressed with the almond chicken -- it was nice and crispy, the sauce was pretty good, and the chicken didn't have that stringy or spongy taste you sometimes get with bad chicken at other restaurants. The rice was perfectly cooked, too. The sushi...not so much. I ordered 5 different rolls because the waitress said they were small. I got spicy tuna, california, avocado, cucumber and tempura asparagus rolls. The cucumber roll was the best one -- that should tell you something. I would definitely not come back here for the sushi. The almond chicken was good, and I'd come back to attempt the Chinese menu -- but at $10, it's pretty expensive for what you get. Unless there's a good coupon, I won't be back. I want to also post my agreement with others who have mentioned the confusion with "Japanese or Chinese" sides, the loud music (the couple behind us actually asked their server to turn it down), and expensive prices.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
