Went here with my wife and son today, it was great. They have all of the traditional breakfast items as well as a few different types of eggs Benedict and some extra thick French toast. They also have a Captain Crunch French toast that I need to try next time. So the menu was diverse, the service was great, and the atmosphere was laid back and clean. I need to remember to go here more often because there are a lot of menu items I need to try.

I'm a fan but . . . I've had two bad experiences lately, both on a Monday, and I hope the owners will work it out. We waited over an hour for the sliders. There was one waitress and just a few customers. All three orders of sliders were hard, charred, and much smaller than the little buns. The menu says grilled onions, but they came with cold, chopped onion. We didn't eat much of them and didn't make a formal complaint but asked what the extra long wait and burned food was about. The answer was something about not being prepped on Sunday nights. So, no more Monday's for me. I love the Eggs Benedict and the fish & chips. We usually have very good service and food. They have a small bar and daily specials. I noticed wine, but not sure what the other bar items are.

Just had the Fish and Chips for lunch, EXCELLENT! Convenient to park, busy but efficient service. Casual no bussel atmosphere and very reasonable check. Wish I lived in the area.

We went for the Fish Fry - which they did a good job, but it looks more of a breakfast place. It was busy, almost every table had a customer and service suffered - waiting on the kitchen. Basic menu - combinations of Fried fish (Basically with fries or baked potato). Wine and beer - which is enough. I would be interested to see how the handle breakfast. A bit of an odd location - off the main drag amongst the the various parking lots.

In short, awful. I ordered the perch and chips since I had heard it was good. A huge disappointment for $13.99 I'd expect a fair amount of fish. What came out were three heavily breaded, vastly over-cooked filets. I cut the first piece and it was all bread. The rest wasn't any better. Skinny filets with hardly any meat. All I could taste was the breading and grease. If this is what they are famous for, wow! That's a real low bar they've set. Failure one. Secondly, the dinner roll was stale. How hard is it to serve fresh bread? Failure two. We had a party of 7 and were seated at a row of tables in the front. This wasn't an issue until more people started coming in. How this place is this busy given the quality I saw is beyond me. Anyway, there is no waiting area. As a result people found space and waited where they could. Have you ever had a family dinner out where other people waiting for tables were literally standing right behind you? We couldn't really converse with one another. I almost asked a complete stranger to pass me the ketchup since he was closer to it than anyone in my family. Failure number three. So there is the long version. Obviously we won't be going back. There are a lot better restaurants in downtown Brighton. In fact, I'd say most of them are probably better. I actually left dinner hungry so I went home and had a sandwich. Should have done that in the first place.

Stopped by here for breakfast since my usual go-to breakfast place stops serving at 11am (PS: this is a horrible practice). Since the Brighton Farmer's Market was going on, I figured I'd people watch, grab some breakfast, then go shopping at the market. The atmosphere of the place is a semi industrial-ish with the concrete floors. the tables and chairs are on the cheaper end, though. It didn't really turn me off or anything. What was irritating was there was a sign saying, "Please wait to be seated" and after 2-3 minutes, no one even looked in my direction. I finally approached a waitress who was bussing a table and asked where I should sit. I was finally seated then. My waitress was cheerful and pleasant. I had to laugh when she overfilled my coffee and she ran around acting like it was a criminal activity. It was spilled coffee, it didn't get on my food or me, so it's not a big deal. The menu is full of nice breakfast creations. There are about 3-4 different kinds of eggs benedict, too. I settled on the eggs argyle which is eggs over smoked salmon, over a grilled tomato, over an english muffin. It was topped with hollandaise. They were a bit skimpy on the hollandaise, but the dish was really good and they were pretty generous with the salmon (which is likely the most expensive bit). However, the real TRAVESTY were the potatoes. They offer two types: the american fries, or the hash browns. I asked my waitress which was better and she steered me towards the american fries, which was supposed to be a baked potato diced up and crisped on the flat top. Whomever cooked these fries must've had a personal vendetta against potatoes; these were crunchy, dry, and pretty inedible. Even after a cursory dousing in hot sauce, salt, pepper, whatever extra hollandaise I had... they were still awful and inedible. I kept trying to find a piece which wasn't cooked to death and was fruitless. The service is spotty, some aspects of the food are good, and the menu is diverse and willing to serve breakfast past whatever arbitrary cut-off time other places has. I'd go back to give it another chance. When I do, I'll update you.

This is a great family owned business in downtown Brighton. The owners and their children are dedicated and hardworking people who care about nothing more than ensuring you have an enjoyable time in their restaurant. The food is incredible, fresh, and has the great homemade taste. The Cafe' itself is a small family diner style that allows you to have an intimate conversation with your group. They do their best to accommodate groups of all sizes. Lastly, they're known for their fish. They've done an amazing thing bringing Detroit's Famous Scotty Simpsons fish receipt to Brighton - you'll find nothing comparable. The Nova Scotian Cod is flown in twice a week and picked up fresh - never frozen, allowing for it's impeccable taste. I would recommend it to everyone and anyone in the area to give it a try! You'll love it.

Snobby people bad waitresses can't understand manners talks bad about people in front of customers never going to this place again.

This place is good. Food was good, service was good. We went in for breakfast and I had the eggs Benedict. I liked it. It wasn't anything to write home about, but decent. My wife had a veggie omelet and added onions to it, they weren't grilled at all, it was very hard for her to eat. The place really needs to change their chairs. Most of them are ripped and being held together with tape. Asked for hot sauce, I got a bottle that had its label ripped off and looked old. When I opened it, the inside of the cap was disgusting. They need to throw this bottle out

Love this place. It's nothing fancy but the service is friendly and the food is good. A perfect little restaurant to grab a bite. We usually go for the fish fry but have enjoyed the occasional breakfast too although the place is usually a madhouse in the mornings.

Really good...from the Eggs Benny to creative pancakes and delicious corned beef hash!!! It's my new favorite spot in Brighton for breakfast...can't wait to come for lunch and try the fresh fish and chips!!!

We had the fish & chips to go and the food was wonderful !!! Love the fish !!! It's my favorite !

I think the "free speech" rally that woman referred to was an exercise in being able to swear at a children's playground and carry signs with profanity on them. Please do them the favor and don't patronize the business! Oh and maybe try a business before you review it. This is a cute, modest, family owned little restaurant with amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner options. They actually have great beer and wine options too (something we didn't even know!) and priced much better than other local establishments. I highly recommend the hand battered fish and onion rings and enjoying their outdoor patio.

Went for breakfast for the first time. I wanted to try somewhere new. I had walked by this place many many time while in Brighton and always wanted to eat here. i found our new sunday morning hangout when were notat the cabin. The wait staff was very friend, the menu had many different options for other than the standard breakfast joint. The food came out quickly and hot. With so many things on the menu we are planning on going back ....... They serve beer and wine also......... I wouldhighly recommend giving it a chance.........

We have eaten here for breakfast and always been satisfied with everything we have had. I love when a Greek omelette actually has Gyro meat in it! They can be a little picky about substitutions and it can be hard to find a place to sit on the weekends, but hey, that can be overcame. I have yet to try the fish and chips which is a shame, given that I love fish and chips.......
(4)James P.
First time there. The fish was good as expected but the fries were undercooked and the roll was very dry like it was weeks old.
(2)Todd G.
Fish and chips average at best. I have had better at Red Robin. Breakfast is good to yummy waffles are the best on the breakfast menu.
(3)Bill F.
We come here often for Sunday breakfast or brunch. Excellent prices and great food. Portions are enough that I've never left hungry.
(4)Kristen K.
Quaint and good for meeting with friends but I had the ciniammon raisin french toast and it was too sweet with these large globs of cinammon stuff. But, my friends omlets looked better.
(3)Chris F.
Lynn's is a great little breakfast place with a small town feel. Although they're known for breakfast, they also serve up Scotty Simpson's famous fish 'n chips. Although I'm unsure just how famous they are since this is the only restaurant advertising for it. Regardless, the food is great, the prices just, and the service is phenomenal.

Great little place that could easily get missed. It's right downtown, but not on Main or Grand River. This is the best Fish We've ever had! We had Fish and Chips and Cajun spiced grilled cod. (and a glass of wine each) The server was awesome too. Very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back soon!

Best breakfast in Brighton hands-down. Little pricier than most breakfast joints, but it's worth every penny. Service is fantastic.
(5)Mark M.
This is the best fish and chips place hands down. They are the 2nd location for Scotty Simpson's in Detroit. The fish is fresh, super greasy, and cooked perfectly. I have never had any fish and chips that came close, or even tasted/looked similar to the way they do it here. They have a very unique recipe. I've tried fish and chips even in Seattle, taking advantage of the fresh fish from Puget Sound, but nothing has been close. The fish here is reasonably priced, so you could feed your family easily on a tight budget. The staff here has always been very friendly. I've never found it to be super busy, so getting a table shouldn't be a problem. This is a great alternative to going to Detroit to get Scotty Simpson' fish and chips.

Good breakfasts, however, seating can be tight. I'm also a fan of booth-seating, which isn't an option.

Lynn's Cafe is a nice little place set off of Main Street a couple of blocks west of Grand River. Seating is also available outside on a good sized patio away from traffic. This review is only for the Scotty Simpsons fish and chips which is served at Lynn's. Pros: beer and wine available here and not at Detroit location. Tonight they had Oberon on tap as one of the selections. Fish and cole slaw are same as Detroit location. Also have other items on menu that you would expect to find in a cafe like salads, burgers and such. Service was very good. Waitress was outgoing and even willing to try a shot of Ginger Beer as she did not know what it tasted like. Location of Lynn's is also in much nicer area. Cons: Fries and rolls are very ordinary and no where near as good as Detroit location. The biggest reason this is not a 3 star is because I was weaned on Scotty's in Detroit and am used to all 4 parts of the meal being like the original. You will have to give them both a try to see for yourself. I doubt I will try this location again but will be back to this part of Brighton to sample some of the other restaurants in the area.

This is a nice quaint place tucked in downtown Brighton with outdoor seating. The servers are friendly and the food quality is very good. Scotty Simpson's fish and chips - I crave the fish! Cod filets are wet-battered and they are so crisp and crunchy. The fries are your average shoestring fries, but nice and crisp when you get them Omelette - don't remember what kind of omelette but it was smothered with sausage gravy. Everything on the plate was good...the hash browns, though average, were cooked well. The sausage gravy, nice and savory, but a hint too sweet for me. The omelette itself was, good and well-made. We will be definitely coming back for these items and are excited to try the rest.

They used to make the best Western omelet I've ever had until a while back when I ordered one and it was miserable. I overheard a cook telling a younger guy how to make it. Hopefully my next stop in that kid has gotten better at it. Fish and chips are out of this world. Probably the best I've ever had. Decently priced too. Very friendly staff. Once I had to go fight a ticket during a cold winter morning at the courthouse across the street. I had walked over from my condo. Getting inside I realized it was no cell phones. I went into Lynn's Cafe and they babysat my phone for me without batting an eye. Props to them, they're definitely a quality neighborhood joint.

My wife and I went to Lynn's Cafe on a Tuesday evening. There was only one other group outside on the patio and we decided to dine inside. The waitress was prompt, friendly and helpful. I ended up getting their Chicken Strips and Chips which also comes with a dinner roll and coleslaw. They were probably some of the best chicken strips I have ever had. Long and thin and extremely crispy. The fries and coleslaw were so-so. My wife got the Hobo's Special which was basically hashbrowns with egg and green pepper on top I believe. She said it was "delicious". While waiting for our meal we noticed a menu board that listed hushpuppies for $1.99. We promptly placed an order for those as well and they were great. The waitress suggested we get them with butter which was an excellent recommendation. The prices were quite reasonable. I think for both our dinner, two drinks and the hushpuppies it was under $20. We will definitely go back again.

Greasy, way beyond what you expect with fried food. The fish batter was dark on the outside, shimmering with grease, and yet raw inside. The fish was just cooked, which normally I'd applaud, but with my grease bath it was a bit nauseating. Shrimp were the same only the batter was spongy. Coleslaw was fresh but a little plain, after adding some salt it was edible but nothing special. Roll was soft and fresh, cold. Server was young and sweet, but difficult to understand. She sort of mumbled/slurred, but she wasn't surly like many teenagers and she got the order right, checked back with the right amount of frequency. If it wasn't for her, I'd have rated 1 star. It was also expensive. $42 for two fish & shrimp dinners and cokes. Most of it went back uneaten. Maybe things have changed, but I won't go again. I may not even be able to park in the lot for awhile.

Great place to come when you're hungry. The food is delicious and plentiful. The service is good and the atmosphere is A-OK, too. I like their version of the Slim Jim and my boys love the chicken strips and homemade fries. You can't go wrong with anything you order at breakfast time as well. Very fresh food and generous portions. On Friday nights they serve fish and it's really, really good. I noticed that they have beer then, too. Maybe they have it at other times, too? Not sure. Support a local business and fill your belly all at once, yeah!

AWESOME fish and chips. It's also Scotty Simpson's from Detroit. Their breakfast is pretty good and their fish is king.

Brighton's best kept secret. Lynn's features great breakfasts, lunches and fabulous fish and chips! Try their breakfast specials. Moderately priced and good, old fashioned home style cooking! Psst don't tell anyone else, but they have the best prices on beer and wine in Livingston County. Do yourself a favor and stop by. Tell Tim I sent you. Enjoy!! Michael Scholtz.

Tucked away near the Mill Pond in downtown Brighton, Lynn's is an unexpected treasure. The waitstaff, although not the most prompt, was attentive once the order was placed, coffee cups were never empty and food came in a reasonable amount of time. I had the corned beef hash omelet and it came with several options for sides. I chose both the fruit cup and homemade raisin toast. Everything was delicious and well prepared. It was plated well and smelled enticing. I will definitely return.

This place is a little hidden treasure. They have a small diner menu and prices you can't argue with. During Saturday and Sunday mornings you may have a bit of the weekend breakfast rush (there isn't a ton of seating) but any other time during the week there is no problem grabbing a seat. Defiantly worth a visit.

A craving for some good fish & chips led to an Internet search which brought us here on a Friday night. The place is small inside but they pack as many tables in there as possible. It is nothing fancy, more diner style. It was crowded, at times a small line waiting for a table. The staff was friendly even though they were working hard. In addition to the full dining room there was a steady stream of carry out orders as well. I ordered the fish & chips, husband ordered fried shrimp. The cod was great. All white and flaky. The breading was very light and crispy. Not the usual heavy breading batter. The shrimp has this same type batter and were large. The price is also very reasonable at around $28 for both of us including drinks. I had to take points away for the side dishes and presentation. Both meals came with choice of salad or cole slaw, a roll and French fries. I got the cole slaw. It was not my favorite, tasted a little bitter or sour to me. The roll was just a plain roll like out of a package, no flavor and pretty dry. The butter was cold and hard so it was impossible to spread on the roll. However my husband got the side sale and it was pretty good with flavorful croutons. The French fries were standard, nothing special there. The plates seemed bigger than the meals, making it look a little bare or that the portions were smaller than they actually are. Also there was no lemon slices served with either dish. Bottom line is that I really liked my fish and will come here again for my next craving.

Had a wonderful late breakfast there after a quick court date across the street. Arguably it's best point is the location so that you can walk out of the Brighton District Court and across a short street into a clean quaint cafe. The atmosphere is bright and airy. The food tasty and affordable. I had a glass of fresh brewed ice tea, yes the real stuff. Then tried their special the chili cheese omelette with fresh tomatoes, country fries and rye toast. The chili was also homemade and not too spicy and was perfect in this omelette. It really could have used a tad more cheese but still tasty all in all. Toast was buttered and done perfectly, not all dried out and the country fries just as you would expect. I was hungry not having been able to catch a meal before hand and so I was delighted that the portion size was decent as well as satisfying. The service was friendly and well done. I will go back again and I would recommend it to friends. One of Brighton's lesser known undiscovered gems. It's definitely not a chain style restaurant and I'm glad to have found it .
