Wow, really good food every time. Friendly waitstaff. The Zeus omelette rocks with gyro meat. Once a week I eat here and I'm never disappointed. Grecian island is also really good Sunday morning after a long night downtown.

I came her with my Sister and my Wife for lunch. I wasn't expecting much, but wow my gyro was way above average, so was my spinach salad. Lots of great tasting feta cheese on both. My Sister's baked eggplant dish, "I'm not going to try to spell it from memory but you know what I mean", that looked great too. I ended up trying some and it was also delicious. Service was good too. I'm sure I will be back next time we're in the area.

Service was prompt and friendly. Good chicken gyro supreme & crispy fries! Sander's hot fudge cream puff so good. Great place for a quick sit down dinner

My experience, whether actually causal is a good question. I had Parmesan Chicken and Lemon Rice Soup at Grecian Island on Thursday evening at about 8:30 pm. It was on special. The Lemon Rice Soup tasted pretty good; I ate the entire cup. The Chicken was a little burnt on the bottom, but I didn't eat that part. I pointed out the burnt part to the waitress, and she said, "Oh, you don't like it?" but no offer to replace. The Chicken dish looked really good, but it wasn't very tasty, and I probably ate only 1/4 of it. About 1 a.m. I was very sick, extreme abdominal pain, spent about 1/2 hour on the commode. After that I seemed fine again. I suspect the cause of my illness is the Parmesan Chicken dish, but it could be the Lemon Rice Soup, or it could be just a crazy fluke.

The hot Turkey sandwich is always good. Great place to go for good sit down get in an out dinner.

We have been to this place a few times. The food has been good for the most part, but the service hasn't been. This last visit tops them all. Myself and my boyfriend went in at 2:50pm for lunch, the place was empty. We ordered saganaki and when it was brought to us the cheese was hard not melted at all, a perfect rectangle, and the bottom burned black. The waitress came back and we told her it wasn't right she agreed stating it was not melted as it should be and also burnt. We asked for a new one. The new one came back 10 min later and same thing, not burnt this time but not melted just the same. She said "eh sorry I know it's not completely right but at least it isn't burnt". After eating half of it she came back and said her boss knew how to make it melted. She took it away brought it back again and it was the same not melted piece that she took away. "Idk what to say" she said "sorry." I also sent back my coke before all this because it tasted like syrup, exchanged for a water. After the appetizer we then waited another 25 min for our food to come, a coney dog and a club sandwich! Yes 25 minutes! This was crazy and if her boss was there as she stated SHAME ON HIM! We were charged for the messed up saganaki and the pop I didn't drink and sent back. We will never go back.

Gyro and one steak was perfect, other steak was very raw and two lamb shanks weren't worth it. Felt very rushed, food came very fast but didn't even have enough time to eat appetizers. Waitress was kind though.

Eat here all the time. Service is always fast at lunch. Quality if food is consistent. Servers are fast to serve and keep checking on you. Prices are reasonable and compare to other diners. I sometimes try other fast dinners for lunch, for a change, but they are never as good. So I am a regular at this place.

Owner does not care about his customers! Background: me: female, usually solo. Polite, non-demanding, generous tipper. Waitress brings me fish with their truly terrible tasting teriyaki sauce, which does not belong on a piece of salmon anyway. When I told her I did not want the sauce on the fish and that I could not and would not eat it that way, she yelled at me and became quite mean. (She WAS very, very young, but STILL. I was seething and said to her: "You should ask your customers what they want." So, I talked to the owner and told him what happened. I said, I'm not here to cause trouble. I don't want anything for free. But maybe your waitress needs a little more training and should ask people if they want the teriyaki sauce on their fish BEFORE she puts the order in. HE WAS SO RUDE AND SO MEAN I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I just said: "REALLY". I still left a $2.00 tip on the bill, even though the "service" (which consisted of meanness, and then the waitress spilling coffee all over the table) was truly rotten. After getting further abuse by the owner, I have decided I have to find another place to eat. Which is too bad, since this restaurant is one of the closest to my new home. The owner is DEFINITELY in the wrong business. I think if you are going to own a restaurant, you have to at least PRETEND you like people. This guy should be in the back somewhere punching numbers or something where you never ever deal with people. Even though I had eaten at his establishment almost daily for a month, I was never greeted with the tiniest bit of warmth. That would have been okay. I didn't even know he was the owner until I had the problem. When he was as mean and as rude as he was, I realize now that he IS actually the owner. I don't know if I will ever go back. What a disappointment! It is hard for me to believe someone could care that little about a good, kind, generous customer! But it is what it is. Very sucky experience.

This is our favorite coney around!! Larger portions than others and great service at decent prices. My husband loves the chicken tenders, I love the BLT's & club sandwiches, and our son gets the grill cheese. We get out if there for under $30 including the tip : )

This place isn't winning any awards for restaurant of the year, but they make a really mean lamb gyro. Honestly one of the best I've ever had. My stomach is growling right now, I might actually make a drive and go pick one up for lunch!

Family-owned and operated by real Greeks! I love this place soooo much. Their food is fresh and comforting. They have the best greek chicken salad, Saunder's cream puff, macaroni and cheese, milkshakes, diet coke, and flaming cheese. I grew-up going to this little gem of a diner and hope they stay in business forever. Way to stick around Grecian Isle!

Love it here! We moved to the area 2 years ago - we'd call this place a diner....not sure if the locals would agree. The gyros are amazing, the Grilled chicken greek salad with pitas is to die for, and the Zeus's omelette is simply amazing if you like spinach, tomatoes, feta, and gyro meat. We seem to order the same things over and over again but I never get tired of it. My other favorite is the California gyro, which is grilled veggies. YUMMMMY! Will miss you Grecian Island....

I was looking forward to revisiting Grecian Island, after eating there several years ago and liking the wide ranging menu and the convenient location more than the quality of the food. The reviews here made me want to give it another chance. Alas, the quality of the food has declined, in my view. We like that breakfast items are available all day, but my omelette was just so-so. They had NO fruit, per waitress, to substitute for toast. Went back a few weeks later, and I decided to try the chicken Shish ka bob meal, with rice and vegetable of the day. Chicken was average, but veggies were a sad blob of mixed veggies from the bottom of a freezer bag that I would be ashamed to serve at home, and the two tablespoons of rice were barely warm and tasteless. Hubby stuck with a safe bet, a skillet of eggs and sausage. The food generally looks like the place is cutting back on freshness and quantity to save money. Generally left a bad taste in my mouth.

My girlfriend and I visited this restaurant on the recommendations here, previous to my own. I'm unsure if it was said recommendations that befouled my experience or what, but I left rather unsatisfied. I didn't take the remainders of my food home, which says a lot for me. The food was very disappointing, for the most part, *especially* considering the price. The saganaki (flaming cheese) was pretty good. It was my first experience with it and I was pleased. I ordered the spinach pie, which came with rice and assorted vegetables, and therein lies the problem. It seemed like I could have bought my entire meal out of the freezer of a grocery store...apart from the water, which came out of a well. My girlfriend's chicken gyro and lemonade were good, though. The service was okay. I'd probably rate it 3 stars. It was a little weird/off-putting that the management (I think) was always floating around, though. The decor was a little beyond standard for a Coney Island kind of place, at least in terms of design. The place isn't in awful condition, but it could use a bit of upkeep. The menu's nice, though it's the only thing that impressed me. In the end, the price doesn't match the experience, especially not for food that I swear I could have bought out of a freezer. I'd like to say I'll give it another try, but I really don't see it happening.

Another Greek Coney Island, yippee! ;) Service is prompt, food is okay, nothing to write home about. The Lemon Rice soup was off, kind of bland. My hani was good. Little guy would not eat the chicken fingers:( I didn't have any fries, but they look like the kind that Burger King serves, with that weird crunchy outside. My boys did eat them, so I guess they were good. The weirdest experience for me though (besides the outdated pink and grey decor)...was the booth next to us ordered the Opa! Cheese. I could tell that the waitress was not sure about the whole deal and it was my lucky day since I was sitting right under the dang thing. I sheltered my youngest son and she lit it up and then ran back to the other waitresses laughing about how the brandy burned the hair off of her arm. Hooray. I did get through that experience unscathed, but shaken to say the least. They should just light that cheese up in the back and serve it to the tables if the servers don't feel comfortable doing it themselves. If I want the true OPA! experience, I will leave it up to the professional servers in Greektown.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant for a good, solid meal. The service is always very prompt. The food has always been very good. We eat here regularly and have found it to be better than any of the other 'greek type' diners in the area.

I love Greecian Island. My family and I have been going there ever since they opened. Their food is always delicious and there service is timely and intelligent. My only gripes are soggy salads and waitstaff with attitudes. I stopped going there for nearly six months based on one waitress that treated me poorly. She has since gone but this is kind of a trend with Greecian Island. They get a couple waitresses that can do their job well but treat customers like asses. Dont get me wrong, I know I can come off a bit pompous, I am, but when it comes to my food I dont mess around. So any reason for treating me poorly is on them.

Fantastic! One of the best neighborhood restaurants in town. I have been going there for years and the same waitresses still work there and will recognize you! The best great salad in town! Leo's is ehh but if you want better quality for pretty much the same prices go to Grecian!

YUM YUM YUM! Not sure what the magical seasoning is on the chicken but the Greek Salad w/Chicken is so very good! And ask for the Maggie Sandwich...it's not on the menu but is hands down the best sandwich I've ever had. Great service....great location.

I get a craving for one of these salads often. They go heavy on the feta and the dressing is excellent.

Good food and reasonable prices. Also has free wireless.

I live in san francisco where you can get almost any kind of food, any kind of flavor. But *nothing is better than the California Veggie Gyro from Grecian. I lived in the brighton area for 4 years back in the day and I still, after all this time, cant get it out of my mind. Oh please open a chain in the bay area, Grecian Island. I miss you.

I eat at this restaurant everytime I'm in my hometown. My brother and I love this place. It's a dine with a greek twist. This is what we order. I get the vegetarian gyro with so much tsatziki sauce that it always runs all over my hands, and a chocolate shake. He gets a baby greek salad, a regular gyro, and a chocolate shake. We split an order of fries. (We wouldn't want to be gluttonous.) Then we go home and pass out. It's the best food! Once we tried to go on the fourth of July and it was closed and I cried.

My wonderful girlfriend Beth F. took me here on my first visit to her hometown. And wow, it was so GREAT!! The fries are truly superb, and I ate a regular gyro that was super tasty. The chocolate shake is one of the best I've ever had. After we were done eating, I was so stuffed! Can't wait for my next visit!
