So I noticed the "and pizza" part of the sign on the building. That means it's not just another Coney Island in metro detroit, so now I'm interested. I went in and sat down. I asked my extremely pleasant and helpful waitress if the pizza was any good or if it's a joke and she assured me that its no joke. If fact, they have a stand-alone pizza menu that is separate from the general dining menu. She explained that the dough and sauce are all made fresh each day right in house and that the owner used to be a cook at Sheild's (any Detroiter will know what that means). It was too early for dinner so I asked about getting a "take & bake" pie. She said they'd never done that before but would check into it. She came back a minute later and happily told me that they were willing to give it a shot if I was. I ordered a Detroit style deep dish square pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. A few hours later, I was home and ready to cook it. After 15 minutes at 400 degrees, I tried my pizza. It was totally legit. Crust was crispy, just like you'd expect from Buddy's or Sheilds. Cheese is excellent, pepperoni was high qulity and shrooms were fresh, not canned. The home made sauce is a little bit on the sweet side, like Sheilds, but not quite so much. A little sugar in that sauce. Overall, I rate the pizza as probably the best I've had in the 10+ years I've lived in Livingston county and without question the best deep dish in town, hands down. I also give extra points to the Grand River Grill for being willing to accomodate my request and try making something they'd never done before - a halfway baked, finish cooking at home pizza pie. Because I appreciate their willingness to make what I wanted, if it wouldn't have been good I would have just not said a word about it and not gone back. But it was EXCELLENT and deserves this review. I just had the last two pieces for an early lunch. I'll definitely be going back for deep dish from Grand River Grill in the future and I recommend you do the same. The picture here is of my half-baked pie before I put it in the oven. When it came out, I got busy eating it and forgot to take a picture :)

Place smells like fish and a younger boy kept coming out from the kitchen and sat at a table by us and kept picking his nose. Our server was very nice. Food was good though.

For the type of restaurant it is it is very good. I knew we weren't walking into WolfGang Pucks or Bobby Flays Very clean, friendly great family value

I have tried this place many times and every single time I have ordered out or dined in it has been one issue after another. Today I ordered a Chef Salad with cheddar cheese and got a chef salad with onions, green peppers on it. I called and spoke to the manager/owner he asked me if I "could pick them off". So rediculous. Didn't seem apologetic, didn't ask to replace my salad, offer me a discount for the next time I order. Nothing. I dined in there one day, had the fish and Mac special, Mac was cold, my fish wasn't drained and my plate was covered in oil. I sent it back. I don't know who the guy is managing the place, but it's time for him to find a new job. He looks so depressed and like he is forced to be there.

Great place to eat! If you are ordering takeout. The times i have gone in to sit down the servers basically forget about you once you have your food. I had to flag our waitress down twice for a refill. The food here is your average family restaurant food nothing fancy.

Average run of the mill restaurant. Nothing special to "Yelp" about. Food was hot & fresh & prices were reasonable for what you get. Compare it to Ram's Horn or Big Boy. That's about it. Wait !! The ladies room was clean & well stocked.
