this place is LEGIT. How have I not eaten here over the last 2 years, while living only a mile from their front door? So I was craving a Rueben yesterday. Tried it. Loved it. The bread was like fresh from the oven good. Light with a great crunchy crust. The corned beef was so delicious. not fatty at all. I hate greasy fatty corned beef. This was so lean but so moist. I don't eat too often at a deli because one half a typical sandwich way over piled with fatty meat, and I'm done for the day. Bloated and filled with regret for eating a deli sandwich ( yes, Al's springs to mind. a big fatty greasy BLOB. Ick!) Not this one. There was plenty of meat, but the proportion was perfect. Now let's get to the saurkraut. So fresh and not overly "sour" Again, usually it's usually too sour for me and you burp up that smell for days ( right now people are wondering why the heck I like a rueben......well I am in search of perfection) As far as I can remember , this is as close to perfection as I have ever eaten in a rueben. so that was yesterday, and like I said, I don't usually do a deli. So I was back for lunch again today. I guess that tells how I feel about this place. Today I tried the #1 ( corned beef , cole slaw, russian dressing and swiss) the non toasted rye bread was even better than the toasted version. I hate cole slaw. HATE IT. So anyway, the cole slaw on this sandwich was so incredibly delicious. Sweet, crunchy. Fresh. No bitterness at all. It went so well with the wonderful, tender, lean corned beef. What a fantastic sandwich I paired it with the chicken chili. Being a Texas boy who takes pride in his own chili making skills, I really enjoyed their bowl of chicken chili. It was much different than I would have made it. It was sort of a hybrid between a nice vegetable black bean soup, sort of a minestrone feel without the pasta but you could get the cumin and chili taste. It was so perfectly light. No greasy oily feeling. Seasoned beautifully, and a wonderful home-made fresh flavor. Different than I make. A softer more subtle, healthier chili but very satisfying. The counter has all these amazing deserts and pasta and regular salads. It just screams home made authentic goodness I especially like the nice lady that works the register and seems to run the show. Both days she pushed me to eat more. Not in any way did I think she was trying to get me to spend more money and add to my tab, but it was exactly as if you visited your dear mother and she said " son, you look hungry. Have you eaten? , you are wasting away to nothing. Let me whip you up a 7 course meal. no trouble at all. Eat something! EAT!! " It was very endearing this place is AWESOME!

Stopped in for a sandwich today for the first time! BOOM! This place is definitely 5 star delicious.

The only problem I have is they toast when you ask for grilled.

Tasty sandwiches. Soft bread (the double baked rye is out of this world). Nice people. I mean really nice people. In the summer, some lady popped her tire in the lot (the lot is a shithole, by the way, do something about it, Bloomfield) and one of the owner's changed the tire. Are you kidding me? Who does that? I wouldn't even change my girl friend's tire. I wouldn't change my mother's tire. And I sure as shit wouldn't change a stranger's tire -- especially in that heat. Man alive. Anyhow. Big props to Cityscape on their awesome soups, sandwiches and souls. Did I mention good people?

I have loved CityScape for almost 15 years, and have craved their veggie sandwich when I have been away from Bloomfield. I have recently moved back to the area and was very disappointed to find CityScape does not have a website! No online menu or hours! When I called information, there was not a listing for this business, when I knew the name, street, and city where it is located! Please CityScape, join us here in the magical future of 2010. As much as I crave the sweet innocence of your 1995 veggie sandwich, I need the modern conveniences of the new age. The sandwiches are wonderful -- excellent bread, meats, and cheeses. The greens are excellent year round. It is sometimes hard to find a nice, green, fresh salad in the winter months in these parts, and the salads of CityScape are always of great quality! The dessert selection is always attractive. This is a terrific local sandwich shop!

Hey i have been hearing about this place for years. and finally took the family after a special open house for my daughters school. the reubens where sublime, really, perfect - havent had a sandwich this good anywhere. really... my daughter is a vegetarian, they gave free samples of various soups... they were open and honest of which soups had stock etc. she ended up having tomato basil soup and loved it. (and they didnt charge her-) the butternut squash soup was just great. seems a super nice family runs the place, the place looks dated with art deco mural and chairs and table, though still quite nice and very clean which is most important...

One of my favorite places to grab lunch or a sandwich on the go. Delicious homemade soups (usually about 7 selections each day), amazing breads, great salads and cookies and desserts. I love that it is family owned and operated. It is a true hidden gem!

I've been coming here for 10+ years and I have to say, Yvette and Larry you are the best!!! Having experienced Cityscape from the inside-out, I can promise you this Deli is CLEAN, delicious, homemade, and amazing. They're always using locally grown produce and truly take pleasure in the food they prepare for you. If there's a line it's worth the wait. The Russian dressing alone will make you a believer. Try a #9 if you're a fan of Turkey Reubens, it's the best!
(5)Matthew S.
Best turkey Reuben I have ever had. Very friendly staff. And if you are craving a tasty lobster bisque they usually always have it on the featured soups. The bread is always delicious and fresh tasting.

Absolutely hands down the best turkey and slaw sandwich with the BEST Russian dressing. Everything is homemade. Soups are fresh and full of flavors, incredibly tasty and homemade!! I *hate* beets but their beet soup was FANTASTIC. Chicken chili was also amazing. Family owned, friendly, clean. Fast service even though it gets busy all at once. Who doesn't mind waiting ten minutes to place an order when the food is THIS GOOD??!! Always worth the drive.

Soo good. Their sandwiches are huge! They also have "skinny" options like using lettuce instead of bread. Great employees, too!

Sometimes close to home doesn't provide the benefit you'd think. This place is around the corner from our place and since the roads were bad this day it became the best choice... There was a bit of a line, which should be a good thing but it wasn't. The lady at the register had a massive order and was up there for a good 10-15 minutes additional "can I just get?" "Oh, I forgot to ask for". Not the places fault I understand but even after her, everything took too long. The person behind me told his buddy "I'm walking out soon" and he did. I ordered a Reuben type sandwich and gasped as I watched them put the meat and cheese in the microwave. I finally got the food back home and I was what you would think microwaved food would taste like. I was in about 20 for two sandwiches and simply have to chalk it up to never again.

One of Bloomfield Hills finest lunch additions. Stuck in a strip mall it should be a stand alone establishment. What's great here? Everything. This is literally a mom and pop shop with a son also running the place. They are always here, always quirky and super friendly. Now the food-that's what will keep you coming back. Many many types of fresh bread, 7 soups available made fresh daily, cold salads and desserts in the cooler, and just a sh- ton of sandwich combos. I prefer turkey anything, but whatever you fancy you won't go wrong here. They have a sandwich of the day that always pleases the pallet. Meat is absolutely fresh and tasty, and whatever they recommend you top it with (if you choose to create your own sandwich) you should just go with. Great place. Small inside, but you should take you food back to the office and make your coworkers jealous. They will be:)

Decided to give this a try today. The sandwich was good, definitely not worth $8.50, though. I felt like I was paying more for slaw than anything.
(3)Sharon K.
Great melted tuna sandwich and spit pea soup. If you like sandwiches and a selection of several soups, all fresh... Yum , go here!! The place was busy at 1:00 on a Wednesday- casual, all homemade, take out or order at counter and eat there. I will go back!

First time in and I was greeted by older gentleman. I picked up a #4 and chit chatted with the gentleman making my sandwich. Very pleasant experience. He had me try their soup, I believe to be a beef stew. Piping hot and generous portions of beef. Yum. The Reuben. Yum. Good portion of corned beef and kraut. A lil heavy on the Russian dressing, it was good but got a lil' messy. Great local deli. I'll definitely be back.

This little hole in the wall is great!! I had a turkey breast sandwich with swiss cheese on rye with lettuce and tomato. The turkey was juicy, flavorful, and sliced thin, the cheese was tasty and very thinly sliced, and the veggies were crisp and fresh. The bread was soft and yummy as well. To top off the sandwich there was a crunchy little pickle. Very good for $7. Did I mention how friendly everyone is in here? They made an effort to know my name, where I worked, and made great conversation. I'm excited to go back and try some more sandwiches!

All I can say - delicious and a welcome surprise. Bread was baked fresh - suggested sandwich was their turkey and slaw. Amazing. Complimented that with the lobster bisque. Their sandwiches, however, are their forte.

Stopped by for lunch on a rare weekday in the Long Lake and Telegraph area. Found a very impressive list of soups: 9 different soups, all homemade, including such varieties as lobster bisque, beets/turnips/carrots (which tha proprietress/chef's wife took great pains to assure us was very good for us). Also: a good selection of sandwiches, including some not found on the menu of every small carry-out operation. I got a half-liverwurst sandwich (don't knock it 'till you try it) with chicken noodle soup. My soup needed salt, but I'd rather need to add salt than deal with overly salted soup. Sampled the beet/turnip/carrot soup, which the co - diner ordered. Tasty enough that it didn't need the "it's good for you" pitch. Also featured: a good variety of sweets for dessert, including homemade cookies. Definitely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

I know I know, 5 stars is a big statement. Well so is the food at Cityscape Deli. I can't believe no one has written about this place yet. In fact, it makes me suspicious that people are purposely trying to keep it a secret it's THAT good! What really stands out is quality of the deli meats and the bread. I hear that they have great soup as well, but I haven't had room after their delicious deli sandwiches yet to try. One time I was there, Gordie Howe - retired hockey legend walked in and ordered a sandwich. Yep, someone clued him in. Well the cat's out of the bag!

Quality food, people, and service- always delicious and fresh ingredients. Sandwiches, soups, and salads are all amazing.

Cityscape Deli has decent food, not great, just decent. There rice pudding is exceptional but that can't save it from the dreadful service. I've been here twice, and both times they were out of key items on their menu. The line to pay for your food is dreadfully slow and it seems like the older woman who runs the register is in the wrong line of work. She's completely overwhelmed. Both visits I had to completely change my order (at the register) because of their lack of menu items. The owner said it was because it was Saturday and they were closed on Sunday's. Hmmm. Strange premise to not stock menu items. When further pressed, the owner told me that you can't have everything you want. Actually you can, at their competitors deli. I'll never return.

Best best deli around! They are family owned and everything is home made down to the dressings, bread, and soups. This place is a gem! There very clean and fresh... You will try there food and then constantly crave it - beware this place is addicting
(5)Darrell J.
An absolute delectable winner. Sandwiches are superb and additional homemade choices are one of a kind.
(5)Nick P.
INCREDIBLE DELI. Better than or equal to any I've been to in New York. They have their craft perfected. Everything is made from scratch, including soups, bread, and even the pickles. Each sandwich and soup we ordered left us saying it was the best we'd had in years. I rarely give 5 stars, but in case I can't imagine rating it anything else.
(5)Taki M.
They do few things but do them very well.
(4)Jay s.
Very tasty. $9 for a sandwich, but it was great.
(5)Greg O.
This place is amazing. Been going for many years and love everything they have. Great owners and great service!!!

I've never had a sandwhich here that wasn't good. Their reuben is especially tasty. The meats are fresh and of high quality, and the breads are always excellent. The soups are made fresh and are also very good. A half sandwich and a cup of soup are about 6.00 and seem large enough to be a whole sandwich and a bowl of soup. Service is fast and enthusiastic. This is a great place to grab a quick sandwich for lunch.
