Wanted a pie for dinner. Called ahead, yes they had pies. Arrived and selected the apple-oppps, it had servings taken out....Pardon?-order two days in advance to insure having a pie? The pie was good but 17 dollars for 3/4 of a pie.

Tiny bakery/deli off the main drags of Birmingham. Little outdoor seating area. Had a life-changing vegetarian cuban sandwich and will soon be back!

My friend and I were looking for a new place to eat and we thought we would try this place. Bad idea. First of all, it was nine dollars and some change for half a sandwich, a can of soda and a bag of chips. My sandwich wasn't seasoned and there were whole basil leaves with the stems still on them. After I seasoned it myself, it wasn't THAT bad. My friend ordered a vegetarian sandwich and they forget to tell her they changed the menu so instead they improvised a new sandwich for her. Disgusting. They were apologetic and made her a new one, but I bet if they weren't talking the whole time they would've gotten it right. What the hell is with the tipping before eating? How is that ok? Even though my bill was higher than I thought it should've been, I gave a tip. I've worked in the industry, so I know how it is. Tipping before your service is stupid though, I wanted my tip back by the end. Super disappointed.

oh the soup was phenomenal!!! Onion is a must!!!!! I wish there was a warm, buttery cheesy crostini of some sort to enjoy with this. I ordered the shamba and it was AMAZING!!! Shamba- grilled chicken, pesto, artichokes on a double pressed panini is a must try!!!

Cute little sandwich shop with a nice patio area. The folks behind the counter were friendly and our food was delivered to the table within 15 minutes. I ordered a cup of roasted red pepper tomato soup and a 1/2 caprese panini with tomato, basil, mozzarella. The soup was very good. Sadly, the caprese panini was very disappointing - there were two paper thin slices of tomato that filled about half of the bread. I left hungry. However, my other half ordered their "most popular hot pressed cuban" and he loved it. I really want to love this place so I will go again soon and try something different.

Totally agree. This place should be called "Frank Street Cafe" not so much bakery. Bakery makes me think of a glass case filled with cakes and pies. Had heard the sandwiches were top notch here. Indeed they are. Went for the cuban and was not disappointed. The place is small and cozy. Went whilst it was snowing/icing. Would like to try this place again and sit out on the patio on a nice day.

Super cute "bakery" tucked away in a side street of Old Woodward. The baked items looked fresh and the entire place smelled great, but I resisted. Instead I went with the deluxe breakfast croissant between bacon (or choice of ham). The sandwich was pressed hot so I loved the melted cheese and toasted bread in between the bacon and two eggs. I wish it came with a little bit of something. Even a pickle would do. The bakery is on the smaller side, and in the warmer months, there is outdoor seating, and they bring out your meal to you.

Seeing people leave negative reviews about this place, really does make the theory "you can't please everyone" so true. I have always received the nicest service here. The food here is so good. I do not remember ever having something bad here. This place is a really good place to start your day or for lunch.

Outstanding find. Great delicious hearty soup. I had white chicken chilli. Best I have tasted. The beef and barley soup I had last week was deeeelicious. The soups are made in house as are the salads and sandwiches.

Frank street has it all! Great service and great food ! Oh, by the way Brenda L. Dogs don't belong in a restaurant ! Moron!

Consistently amazing Cuban sandwiches. THE BEST! The various soups and sandwiches are amazing. Fantastic food and amazing desserts at a reasonable price. Only downside is that the word is out, so this place gets busy during lunch hours.

  • Olivia S.

Very good food! Don't know why miss Brenda down there has to call people Idiots. She's the idiot for bringing a dog Into a restaurant. If I was a customer there and she came in with her dog I would be appalled that she thinks she has the right to do that. (I also own a dog but know my limits). This is a review about the food not a daily journal for you to express anything that comes to your mind and put people who make your food down.

After reading all of the reviews, I had to check it out. I suppose the only thing stopping me was the place before this that went out of business, was a DISGUSTING resale shop with cats all over the place. I had the Cuban sandwich, and it was superb. Good price, quick service and very friendly. Definitely a new spot in my repertoire.

Really enjoyed the food. Had the turkey & bacon and cheesecake. Really cute shop, very clean, not a lot of tables. 2 hour Parking at meters nearby for $1. Nice staff. I will be back.

We've been to Frank Street Bakery a number of times and it's always been delicious. But what makes this place special is the husband and wife team that own Frank Street. Their customer service/personal atmosphere is something that you can't find elsewhere in the area. Highly recommend a visit! Side story: on one of the hottest days this summer our dog was spoiled with a treat and ice cubes in her water =)

Frank Street Bakery deserves all of the great reviews it is receiving for the food and the friendly service. I agree that both are excellent. This is one of my favorite lunch spots in Birmingham because it is very good for both dine in or carry out. It has a parking lot which allows me to stop in and quickly pick up lunch on my way in or out of town. It also has space to dine in which includes seasonal outdoor seating. Anyone who lives or works in Birmingham should check it out.

Cute little sandwich shop across the street from CVS. I tried the cuban hot sandwich, which was delicious. I'd definitely go back!

After following the FSB instagram for a while and drooling over all of the delicious looking baked goods and sandwiches, I finally found myself in the area during their open hours. I got the vegetarian cuban, which was darn good and a vegetable curry lentil soup that was equally good once it cooled down. It was originally served at the approximate temperature of flowing lava. I was surprised to see the baked goods offerings in one small case. They looked so different in person that I opted to skip dessert, so I can't really speak on them. They do look fantastic in pictures, though that much I can say.

Delightful little luncheonette in Birmingham. Bought a Groupon and was not disappointed. It's very tiny, with limited inside seating. There are tables on the little patio. This place was very busy. Had the Grilled Club which was very tasty, my firend had a grilled corn beef and sauerkraut. The will customize any sandwich. He also had a cup of chili, which was very good, but was more of a chili for hot dogs with no beans. Will probably try their salads or another sandwich in the future. Great lunch alternative. Limited hours specific to the working lunch crown.

2 stars for the service. Great food. Second time coming here and both had been rude. Like who tosses a hot coffee?? Maybe both times the staff was having a bad day. But if it wasn't for the groupon, I would not be coming back.

  • Ken S.

Went with the Cuban sandwich. It was great! I really can't say enough about the toasted/pressed sub bun it came on. Perfect crunch on the outside to go along with a chewy and soft inside. Flavors of the sandwich were spot on. Every sandwich I seen the staff carry out from behind the counter looked delicious. Particularly the Reuben.

Atlas, I am breaking up with Franks. After my positive review, I went to Franks a little more than I would like to admit because of it's close proximity to my work. Then I noticed how TERRIBLE the service has become. Let me give you two examples. 1. I ordered soup and toasted bread. I sat outside after paying and it took them 20 minutes to notice that I was never served at all. So the waiter threw in a free beverage. Okay, I wasn't that hangry but free stuff is always nice. 2. I finally ordered their famous Cuban and a side smoothie. Unfortunately, on this day.. there was a huge order prior to my visit which incomprehensibly took up the entire staff focus within the ENTIRE establishment. Despite the 10 people who sat down after ordering, the staff didn't even start other orders until the big order was complete. So because of this, I waited 30 minutes out of my 45 minute lunch waiting for them to press my 1/2 cuban sandwich. When I finished my sandwich, I got my smoothie. Needless to say, I had to finish the smoothie on my walk because my lunch was over. I wasn't the only disgruntled person. Oh yah, people were upset. That's all I have to say about the matter. The food is ok. My cuban looked thrown together. I wasn't wow-ed by it. My smoothie was more of a slushy. So until this place gets its act together, I'm not planning to eat here again. You disappoint me once? Shame on you. You disappoint me twice? Shame on me. I don't want you to disappoint me three times so I'm breaking up my foodie love for you Franks. See you some other time. I'll be visiting Panera or Cosi until your service gets better.

I love the name change, from Frank St Deli to Frank St Bakery. This only entices me more to walk in and eat eat eat. For a quick snack, try their, Half Cuban. It's flatter than others I've had, meaning their could be more meat. What stands out is the delicious bread, finely shredded pork, and the lightly blended condiments the mayo, mustard, and pickles. Obviously the other ingredients of ham, salami, and swiss cheese don't go unnoticed, but their more subtle. For dessert, try their Salted Caramel Pretzel Brownie. Just thinking about it makes me salivate. It's salty, it's sweet and satisfies the sweet tooth very nicely. Maybe I shouldn't have shared it, since it was so good. I'll get my own next time. Their variety of sandwiches was very impressive for the size of the place. Don't judge a book by its cover, right? I look forward to returning to try more of their sandwiches and variety of their deliciously looking baked items.

Service is good overall. The place inside looks old, outdated and very small and very clean. The high chair was inside the unisex restroom! Not very appealing to let my child sit on it. Sitting outside is nice but nothing special about it. The sandwiches tasted great specially the cheese and basil. We tried also the chicken with artichoke and was also good. Pricy for the small quantity. I had groupon so it was ok, otherwise i wont go to this place.

One of the few purely sandwich places in the birmingham area. We had the matt's sandwich, the Cuban, a cup of potato ham and chard soup, and a toffee bar. You can get all sandwiches pressed if you would like. The potato soup was great as it was made with less cream than other potato soups that I've had. They make it more with puréed potatoes. Both the sandwiches had the required ingredients but was a little lacking in meat. The bread was not overwhelming as in other places, but the sandwich left us craving more meat. The toffee bar, we asked them to heat it. It was tasty with the perfect crunch of occasional toffee. Was quite satisfying. Will be back but may still look around for sandwiches with more meat.

Entering into this cozy deli/bakery filled my nose with the old familiar scent. Cured meats, shaved pastrami and yeasty breads. A hot rueben was in order and I couldn't have been happier with the results. A perfect golden char on the bread, kraut that was tangy and tender, corned beef that was shredded to my likings and a portion that fit the bill.

This place has really gone down hill. It's 1:45 and they've already locked the door and turned on the closed signs even though they advertise 3pm closing time. There are people still showing up but being turned away. Staff was surprisingly rude and short today when I ordered. It'll take sometime before I come back after this experience.

I stumbled across this hidden treasure as I was walking into a business meeting near by. I glanced over and thought... a bakery?? I was hoping they had banana bread, since the only thing I could think about was the cup of coffee I was going to have when I returned to my studio. After I left my meeting, I walked towards Frank's and to my surprise there were people sitting outside having lunch. Lovely.. A bakery and a little lunch spot. I walked in and was instantly greeted by smiles, friendly staff and a very warm environment. Everyone was helpful and extremely pleasant. I didn't get my banana bread, but a scone which was delicious! I also left with a carry-out menu and a plan to order lunch soon, since the lady who helped me was sure to hand me one:) This brings me to today... I'm a complete food snob who travels anywhere at anytime to get what I want or to try out an awesome new spot. I always read the reviews on yelp, but not really for the opinions.. as we know everyone has their own, but for comedy. Before today, I didn't have a Yelp account. In deciding what to have for lunch, I looked at my assistant and said.. let's try the sandwiches at Frank's Bakery. Excited.. we both ordered the Caprese Panini. It was gourmet without being overpowering and cooked to complete perfection. UNREAL! I'm in HEAVEN!!!!!! Hands down, the VERY BEST PANINI sandwich I have EVER HAD. I was also pleased to hear that the staff was just as pleasant to my assistant as they were to me; which these days is uncommon to have consistent excellence in customer service. She said " They knew so many people by name". Thank you Frank's for being the reason I started a Yelp account! :) You guys ROCK!

This place used to be a nice lunch spot. The past year it has really gone down hill. If you can get someone to answer the phone your lucky. Then your placed on hold forever, forced to hang up. The desserts are dry and taste like the place smells, which is not good. Must leave out and sell for the whole week. Not fresh, wouldn't recommend going here. I knew something was up and asked if the same people owned it. Sure enough they sold it about a year ago. Work in an office across the street and we will never order from here again!

For desserts, this place is 5 stars easy!! The Oreo cream pie is to die for, and all of the bars are amazing. The sandwiches are good. This is a great option of you just need to grab a half sandwich on the go. I like the vegetarian Cuban. It's unique. Also, they can accommodate requests. My daughter likes their soy milk, banana and date shake after her barre class. Good prices too. Half sandwiches are actually one adult portion and only $4.

Hot as hell in here on a warm day. I imagine that makes the sandwich more delicious. You must embark on a quest to Frank Street, wade through the crowd. Suffer through the line and fight heat exhaustion inside. But it is all worth it. Every. Last. Bite.

Finally went here after Seong's photos lured me in! Frank Street Bakery (FSB) is more like a sandwich shop with some baked goods and not a full blown bakery like Avalon or Milano bakery in Detroit. We went at 1:30 pm on Saturday & it was packed with locals. Go in, order & get your # & sit outside (its covered) to people/car watch. There's free parking which is an added bonus. We love ordering sandwiches and thank god DF knows how much of a foodie I am and will oblige by swapping halves. I got the Reuben & he got a Cuban. REUBEN: love when my bread is grilled right & there's a slight crunch in every bite. The corned beef was shredded very thin like Boar's head deli meat. Both DF & I prefer our sandwich meat to have more texture like Sy Ginsberg Corned beef that Al's Famous deli (aka Breadbasket Deli) uses. The quantity of meat was perfect as was the sauerkraut (not too sour). Legit russian dressing too & not thousand island like other sandwich places. VERDICT: prefer a marriage between Al's Famous Deli Reuben meat & FSB's portion size. CUBAN: first off the bread was spot on! Not French bread & not Italian bread but CUBAN bread (that means made with some fat like lard/veg shortening)! Since FSB doesn't bake their breads in house, I'd like to know where this legit bread came from! Either way, it lends to a perfectly pressed Cubano like Habana's in R.O. (RIP) before it became Monk. DF wasn't a fan of the meat as it was sorta shredded in texture & not typical roasted pork. Again, deli meats are shaved thin so the ham was missing the saltiness and I didn't taste any salami that some Cuban sandwiches have. Also there's shredded lettuce & thin sliced tomatoes in the FSB version so my sandwich leaked from the bottom. Pickles and mustard were typical and lent itself to the Cuban name. VERDICT: Quality bread but skip the lettuce & tomatoes and add salami or thicken the sliced ham to 5mm vs 1mm slices. We also got a pineapple coconut smoothie which was refreshing in the humid rain. I love the flavor of coconut but hate the coconut bits & I was glad there were none to be found. For quality & size $5.99-$7ish sandwiches aren't bad hence the overall 4/5 stars. I was bummed they didn't have anymore Oreo Cream Pie but they did have some cookies, lemon meringue pie & choc covered Oreos that I'll try next time. Def a local gem!

Great spot for a light late breakfast. Good coffee. Had the croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon. I was a bit skeptical of the egg salad which seemed unusual but it really works. The croissant is pressed on the grill just enough to heat it up but leaving the egg salad cold for a unique mix of textures. Had to try one of the tasty looking treats, the triple berry crunch bar, and it was also excellent.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. All of their food is amazing. I had the Italian Panini and the chili. SO YUMMY! Its a tiny family owned restaurant with a few tables inside as well as a cute patio nestled right in the heart of Birmingham. I haven't tried any of their desserts but its definitely on my list of things to do. They are always coming up with creative desserts to fit the season, holiday or big sporting event. I highly recommend following them on Instagram. They will have your mouth watering in no time!!

This is a hidden gem in downtown Birmingham. They are a lovely family owned business with tons of regulars. After spending time in the restaurant and trying their food...I can see why! I've eaten lunch here several times and stop frequently on Saturday mornings for their delicious egg sandwich on a croissant with some friends. If I lived/worked a little closer, I know I would become a regular at this restaurant. I often have to convince myself not to drive 20 minutes out of my way on weekday mornings to get a cup of great coffee and the aforementioned breakfast sandwich on my way to work. Another MAJOR plus for Birmingham is they have a teeny parking lot! Whoo hoo!

New owners with the same friendly staff but some new menu items and great soup varieties. The original chili is my favorite. Their chili is the only thing that makes this coming winter exciting...

Stopped by for lunch on my way downtown the other day. I had heard about the high quality sandwiches from more than one source and had to confirm for myself. First noticed the familiarity between the owners and the customers. Clearly a number of regulars in there each day. That is always a good sign. After reading the previous reviews and on a tip from a trusted friend, I tried the cuban sandwich. Made on a sub roll and panini-pressed, it was hot, fresh and excellent. I paired it with a kind of unusual bag of potato chips from a brand I was not familiar with. It made for a delicious and filling lunch. Small dining area with small tables made me think that this place could be filled quickly at lunch hour. Most of the folks passing through during my lunch were picking up a to-go sandwich. I'm definitely going back to work my way down the sandwich list and try some more flavors of the large variety of bagged chips.

I was in the mood for a chicken salad sandwich and decided I'd try Frank Street for the first time, as I've heard good things. I ordered it just they way I like it, and was eager to dig in when it arrived. Two bites in I realized this was not "it". At all. The chicken salad was oddly sweet, and otherwise lacking flavor. Just chicken and mayo. Boring. Then, I bit into a hard cartilage piece and decided it wasn't worth my time or calories. Now I'm sitting at Potbelly typing this review, in between bites of a more fulfilling chicken salad sandwich. I'm more bummed that I can only justify eating half my current sandwich than I am about the money I wasted. I won't ever order the same thing, but I will come back to try something else. Maybe I'll have better luck with dessert :)

I totally expected this place to be a legit bakery and less of a sandwich shoppe so I'll be back to try some of their stacks but for a quick in and out I grabbed a cinnamon bun crumble muffin and a piece of their veggie quiche. I liked both of them but I feel like they probably crush it when it comes to sandwiches so I'll update once I get back here. I liked the family run atmosphere and the staff was all smiles.

FSB is a cute little bakery/bistro just south of the heart of Downtown Bham. There's a very nice list of paninis and subs, salads and soups. I liked the veggie sub, toasted, and "all the way" (with vinegar, mustard, mayonnaise). The tomato soup was a cut above typical, and a rather large portion. The cooler has pop, perrier, limonata, etc. Service was friendly and quick. The only thing I didn't really care for is that there was a strong smell of lemon lysol or something like this - don't know if this is typical, though. There's a small parking lot in front with free parking. On a nice Spring day, you probably can't beat this place, a little removed from the bustle of downtown.

Matt and Grace made this an easy local lunch spot. Call ahead if you plan to pick up your food to avoid the wait. Great food. The chili is wonderful and a bowl is enough for lunch.

Seriously, my favorite place in Birmingham. Never had a bad meal! Maybe my favorite place in the state of Michigan... As you can tell from my uploaded photos that I tried various dishes and they were all excellent. I havent been disappointed yet. All their sandwiches are perfectly made with the crunchy texture when pressed. I love their meat chili! One of the best chili I have eaten and I get it almost everytime I go. The salad is a huge amount especially for the price and always fresh. My favorite sandwich is the Matt sandwich and the Italian. Shockingly the prices are low. Since most Birmingham places are way over priced. The place is awesome for eating outside in the summer time. Service is always good and the staff are very friendly. They also have ice cream and desserts like pies and cupcakes. I have tried them and they are great. It can get busy during lunch since they are getting pretty popular. And I was hesitant on writing a review because I dont want them to get too popular because I wont have a place to sit. But they deserve my highest recommendation!!

This place is fantastic! Such a delightful little cafe hidden away south of downtown Birmingham. I highly recommend getting the panini or pressed sandwiches because they grill the bread until it is nice and crusty and delicious. The people who work there are so pleasant and welcoming! I'm bummed a little only because it's a bit off-the-beaten-path and I sometimes forget it's there... but when I remember, I am always glad I get to go!

Really nice small place ticked in a Birmingham side street. The sandwiches are really good. I am not a vegetarian though I loved the veggie cuban. I also tried the "date a banana" smoothie and I really liked it. It would be a nice place to sit out in the sun as they have a nice patio too. Can't wait to try the rest of the items on their menu!

This place is a real find! I work in Birmingham and just picked up my carry-out order of tomato soup and 1/2 of a Caprese panini. The sandwich was delicious, but the tomato soup is the best I've ever had. It was the perfect consistency, had chunks of tomato and had a little hint of spice. After I placed my order, I saw some salads being taken to a table. They looked SO delicious that I ordered one to take home for my dinner. This place is awesome and the staff is incredibly friendly!

This place surprised me! I thought the Birmingham address meant it would be snoody, overpriced, and crowded. I'm sorry for being judgey because it proved me wrong. It is totally a cozy, hole in the wall, treat. The service is extraordinarily friendly, including coming out from behind the counter just to hold the door open for me and the baby stroller. For a breakfast croissant & coffee (free refills!) it was around 6 dollars. The croissant puts a spin on things by having egg salad on it instead of a fried egg. It was quite good! I'm not sure what kind of coffee they brew, it wasn't the best cup I've ever had (I'm a self diagnosed coffee snob) but it was good enough to drink black and served in a delightful, wide mug on a charming little plate. It really was a nice touch, presentation adds a lot. The place is tight though, I was there when it was empty but at full capacity you'll be close to your neighbors. Plenty of parking, genuinely happy service... I will definitely be back for lunch sometime!

More like 3.5 stars Came here twice in one week, and have to say that food is good! Not pretentious; just simple comfort food in the form of paninis, subs, wraps, soups, salads, and desserts! Thanks Seoung L. for providing such visually delicious food! The first time I came here was by myself, and I ordered the Roast Beef panini (whole for $6.99, $3.99 for half). With melted American and Swiss cheeses, sauteed onions, Russian dressing, this was very yummy! The slices of roast beef were thinner than I had imagined, but the texture and flavor was mouth melting delicious. I just wish the bread was a little thicker, or not pressed as thin. I ate half, and brought the other half back home for Husband, and he agreed that it was tasty. Being a soup lover, I had to try one of their soups. Having a hard time deciding, I ended up choosing the Spicy White Chicken Chili. Wanting a sample, I got the cup, priced at $2.99, and it was a great portion. The soup itself had great kick, and the cannellini beans were soft and hearty. The chicken pieces were pretty tasty, but not enough. However, overall, this chili won me over because the flavor of the stock was very good. Since Husband loved their roast beef panini sandwich the first time, he wanted to pay a visit himself and pick another sandwich to try. I was down for it, and we came here on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty busy already at 1pm (they close at 3pm on Saturdays), but we still got our food quickly. I went with the Chicken Breast with Veggies wrap ($6.99). The wrap was delicious, filled with artichoke hearts, green peppers, lettuce, tomato, onions, cucumber in an oil and vinegar sauce mixture. I liked the uniform cuts of vegetables with the chicken breast, but wish the meat wasn't shredded. Husband got The Club ($5.99) on wheat bread. Slices of turkey, ham, bacon, lettuce, and tomato, this sandwich was the weaker of the two. The meat slices were too thin, somewhat making it like luncheon meat you could find at the market, so we weren't thrilled about this one. Though the quality of the bread was good, we'd probably wouldn't order this again. Though the first visit was good and the chicken breast and veggie wrap was tasty, we weren't wowed. The prices are definitely great for being Birmingham, but I won't be making regular visits for my sandwich craving.

Frank's is a welcomed addition to the Birmingham Downtown. Just off of Old Woodward, down Frank street, is a building that looks more like a house than a business. Inside are delicious Baked Goods, Ray's Ice Cream (I mean, who doesn't LOVE Rays?!), paninis, subs, hot pressed sandwiches, homemade soups...the list goes on. For the health conscious, there was a sign on the door that said $5.99 all you can eat salad buffet. The atmosphere is more Cafe than it is bakery, with chips of all sorts & assorted candy for sale on one wall, about 5 little 2-4 top tables. The place is quaint, in a good way. For lunch, I ordered a cup of the Bean & Ham Soup to start. It came to my table piping hot, in a large coffee mug with a spoon. It's one of the most generous "cup" portions of soup I've seen in a while. The soup itself was flavorful with little chunks of ham & whole beans. It did need a touch of salt but was really satisfying none-the-less. The highlight of my lunch was the Cuban. I opted for the half vs whole sandwich. It was pressed, lettuce, mayo, mustard, turkey, ham and salami were added. It's not a classic Cuban, like I had when I lived for a short bit in Miami, but it sure was delicious! My husband had the Italian & I stole a nibble. It was great too, I'd happily eat either one again & again & again! I saw that they have Smoothies and Paninis, both I'd love to try. I'm really glad Frank's has shown up in my area. I can't wait to try more of their delicious sandwiches, I'm already a huge fan!

Today I tried some brownies from Frank Street Bakery that my significant other brought home for me. Wowza! They were amazing! I ate both of them (they were big) in one day! Feels homemade. From scratch. Gooey caramel drapes chewy cocoa delight. The place is cute, too (it was formally Cinderella's Attic); off the beaten path of Old Woodward. I admire a family owned bakery as my ancestors did the same thing years ago in Detroit. Look forward to trying out more baked goods and their sandwiches. Off to a good start.

The best bakery in Michigan... Their Cuban should be listed as one of the top sandwiches in Michigan! A must when in Birmingham, MI

The rating should be A ZERO. I don't spend my money where people are RUDE and have no sense of polite customer service. If you are too busy to take an order on the phone, use your &*(^ing common sense to take a number and call a customer back. I called to change one order on a pie and was met with such disagreement and frustration I cancelled my order altogether. There are too many other bakeries to give my business to. Thanks.

So disappointing. Went there for the second time to meet with 2 friends. Ordered a sub-par coffee (never offered a re-fill even for a charge), baked goods looked very tired so I didn't order anything. After being there for 15 minutes, I was asked to basically order or leave because they were expecting a group of High School Students. I told the woman I would make an additional purchase if needed, because I already had my paperwork spread out. She then asked how much longer would I be there. Keep in mind this place has 5 tables and 3 of them were free. After finishing my coffee (with no additional customers arriving), we left & will not be back.

Was family run but now bought out. Unfortunately, the change is obvious. Bummer!

Living in town and seeing all the chain restaurants .. FRANK STREET is a Refreshing CHANGE.. the Food is Always Fresh and Good, the Specials are Always Tasty and the fact that this is a Family Owned and Operated Bakery is AWESOME.. They always show respect and gratitude, even in the busiest hours.. The service is quick ... My family loves to walk into town and head straight to Frank Street.. I cannot say enough about this place.. The People, the Food, AND the Prices are ALL Reasonable too.. Especially in a town with SO Many Expensive places.. Frank Street Bakery treats you like family.. and they are ALWAYS Smiling !!! Try it..

Went here seeking out pastries and delicious treats. Found a completely underwhelming selection of prepared goods. Heard about their delicious lunch, specifically the Cuban - one of my all time favorites. Enjoyed the location, as well as outdoor seating, but very underwhelmed by the sandwich. Left my palette severely disappointed. They did have an oreo cake, and few items on display in a display case that was about 4 feet wide, but left really disappointed in the experience. Might consider stopping if I happened to be idle in the area, but never would make a specific trip here again.

I've had Frank Street easily 4 or 5 times since they opened...and every time it's delicious. It's a menu that's very user-friendly, plenty of variety but not overwhelming. The Cuban is to die for, the cheese panini is cheese-a-rific, the Italian cold sub is classic, and I have dreams about chocolate-peanut butter smoothies. Delicious! Good luck to them!!

Great neighborhood sandwich joint! I stopped by to check it out and was warmly welcomed by all the staff. It's a pretty small space but there are some tables set up so you can eat in if you want or just place a carry out order to go. The 2 girls working were very friendly and when I left, everyone including the guy making the sandwiches, took the time to turn around and say bye as I walked out. I wish I had picked up some of the baked goods that were available as they looked really delicious too. I ordered one of the Cuban pressed sandwiches to go and when I got home it was still warm and amazing. The bread was fresh and crispy on the outside yet warm and soft on the inside. The whole sandwich was great and it totally hit the spot. Very reasonably priced too. I only got the sandwich this time but I saw that they also carry Zapps chips as well. Made in Louisiana, these are some of the best chips ever! My family ships them up north just because they are that good. I would like to eat in next time so that I can hang out a little more and try some of the other items this place offers. For my first time here, I was very impressed!

I've been to Frank Street Bakery twice since it opened on Dec 01, and it's already a busy and happening spot. Note: this is more of a homemade sandwich/soup/salad/smoothie and dessert spot, than a bread bakery per se. On the first visit, two of us split a Cuban sandwich, jalapeno chips and a slice of pecan pie. The second time was a quick Reuben sandwich and a pickle. Everything was delicious, with a definite artisan touch. The business is owner-operated by a nice young couple, and most of the offerings are house made. They have more than a token number of vegetarian and Vegan options for both food and dessert (which I saved for the Vegans). And a big case of Ray's hand-dipped ice cream. Frank Street has a crisp, clean decor and a comfortable cafe/bistro feel. Prices are exceedingly fair - $5, $6, $7 sandwiches are enough for two normal appetites - and the menu seems to be an ideal size: enough choices, but not overwhelming. There is a...parking lot (I will give you a minute to get over the shock before continuing)...and ample street parking on at least two sides of the building. Wherever you choose to park, you will be inside within ten seconds. We don't mind parking and walking a few blocks in downtown areas; but sometimes, like during freezing rain with a nice wind chill, a parking lot and a bowl of chili sure sound good. The business is on Frank St, just west of Old Woodward...so you can get in and out quickly from any direction, without being involved in the dynamics of the busy Maple corridor. Long story short: Frank Street Bakery is a welcomed addition to the area, and well worth a visit.

I brought my very picky 14 year old vegetarian daughter here. She had the Vegetarian Cuban and said, "This is the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my entire life." So happy to find her an alternative & reasonably priced restaurant and one that I like too. There is something delicious on the menu for everyone.
