So this place is in a gas station, and seriously runs circles around most of the Middle Eastern restaurants I've been too. The food is super fresh and you can stand there and watch them cook from start to finish, all day, everyday if you like. The staff is hilarious to me. The main guy there always seems to have an attitude and never smiles, but after a few visits, you learn he is really nice and attentive, and just never shows it on his face. I went through a phase where I was obsessed with their pickles (seriously, their pickles are like crack, very addictive). When he figured out who we were on the phone (we often called in our orders), he started including extra pickles even if my husband forgot to ask. My favorite meals are the chicken schwarma sandwich and the chicken schwarma plate with rice and salad. Their garlic sauce is stupid good. You won't even care that your breath is hot because it is worth it. The salad's are huge, the chicken breast is always delicious, and the rice with almonds is superb. I often buy a large and refry it with ground beef or whatever leftover protein I have in the house the next day. You will not regret eating here. Very clean. Very good. Very healthy.

FABULOUS food! The lentil soup is out of this world. It's so rich that you won't believe that it's vegetarian. Shawarma is amazing. Felafel is terrific. I dream of their Baba ghanoush. The fattoush salad is great. It's all so good! Mr. Kabob, a plea from a fan: start offering delivery. Please, please, please.

Attentive, efficient, friendly and generous staff. The portions are massive and are at a very good value! We will be back for more chicken Shwarma and roasted red pepper hummus! We make this a regular part of our Sunday in Detroit now!

I'm going to go ahead and update to 5 stars. We've been going there at least once a week since moving to the area, and they are 100% consistent with the quality of the food and the service.

Wow this place is good. No! Its great! I don't know why I think it is so much better than the Lebanese/Middle eastern places around the area, but opinions are opinions. Regardless, this place does a ton of business. I love getting lunch. It's an awesome deal. Chicken, rice (or fries), salad (or soup), and pita for $8 or Kafta for $7. In addition to these, they have all the standard fair. Its the same friendly staff every day who are churning food out and I don't ever remember waiting more than 10 minutes for a carry out. There are a few tables inside but it really is a carryout. It isn't open very late, which is a shame but I'll take what I can get.

This is in a gas station, but it ain't no subway (what a relief!). Anyway, I live less than 5 minutes away, and was pleasantly surprised when I found that their shawarmas were pretty good and reasonably priced. The falafel can probably use a little work, but I'll say that I still wasn't dissatisfied with it.

Yum! This place is always cooking food, i smell it from my house. They have good chicken fattoush with big portions and good prices compared to other restaurants. My go to place!

Best gas station food around. And the bestmiddle eastern food outside of Dearborn. Only wish the customer service was better.

I can't say I have ever been to a place where I can fill my gas tank and stomach at the same time and find so much pleasure. While not gas station prices (but still very fair), the quality of the ingredients are superior to any sit down Mediterranean restaurant within 60 square miles. Now only if they start offering gas and go, chicken shawarma combos...

What a bargain! This food was great and priced right. I love to see a successful business model that is priced right and jamming out great food like these guys do at this gas station business. We ordered a couple wraps, chicken shawarma and beef kafka, both were delicious and filling. The beef had more flame taste which I enjoyed. We also tried a salad and the meat pie. The pie was just ok in my opinion, I don't have any context to compare it to because I've never had one like this before "middle eastern style". I wish this place was closer to my house because it would become a regular outing for me.

Heard about the place for years, finally gave it a shot. Loved it! Had the shawarma and mjadra wraps with sides of hummous, garlic and rice. Fyi, double check because it might be cheaper to get a combo if you are a pig like me - and they may not recommend it... Only bummer was the garlic portion was small. Not the end of the world but I almost missed it in our bag. I went for dinner last night and for lunch today. It is very good and not in a "gas station good" kind of way. Like good good. Oh, and the line looked insane. Between the called in orders and the bazillion people waiting I thought I was in for it. Turns out they said it would be 7 minutes and it was! A+ Pay at the gas counter. I almost forgot as I rushed out.

Whenever I'm in the Berkley area I try to stop here for lunch. It is not a "fancy" restaurant but the food is excellent and that's really what it's about for me. You can sit at the window and enjoy some great Mediterranean food as the cars go by on Coolidge. They have a wide variety of food and options on the menu and the prices are very reasonable. They do a pretty good carry-out business as well. It's in a gas station so don't be surprised. I've never bought gas with my food, but I've never had gas FROM the food either. Great quality at a reasonable price for lunch.

Ok, I admit I was skeptical when a friend started telling me about this place. Food in a gas station, whaaaa? But I did try it when I was in the neighborhood and it was fantastic. I got the chicken kebab with rice. The rice is so tasty and addictive. The chicken was nicely cooked and had great spices. I also love their red pepper hummus. I usually am not a fan of hummus, but their hummus is ridiculously good. There usually is a line but you don't have to wait long to place order or wait for your food. But, this is worth waiting for!

We're still big fans of Mr. Kabob, which is our go-to place for Middle Eastern food nearby. We always get extra garlic sauce and extra pita. The one thing that I have noticed is they have cut their meat and rice portions down considerably. It's sort of a bummer. We still order because we enjoy it, but get a lot less for what we pay.

Lori K.
This place is 5 stars! The food is amazing and dealing with the catering has been a wonderful experience. I've tried so many places and this is my go to, luckily it's just down the street from my work which makes it even better. Try everything, try something new. Overall just enjoy because this type of delicious gas station food is a luxury!

Some good ol gas station food going on here. My buddy was on a trek for some good schwarma and this place was closest to us and not far from the expressway to make it back to the airport. The place is run pretty good and there are plenty of good options. I opted for the chicken schwarma dish along with a side salad. I only waited a little less than 10 mins for the food. The dish was good and the portion was huge. The meal was ok as I wish I would have went with the wrap instead. There is sitting space in the form of a couple of hi-tops or window seating. I would definitely try again as I some some good surf on the menu. The place is quite popular as there were many people here getting lunch.

Excellent food. It's not quite Bucharest, but it's damn good. Good seasoning, tons of flavor, and when you ask for extra garlic sauce, man do you get extra garlic sauce. Delicious... Good job guys!

This place has good to very good food, however, in 3 visits here, our order was wrong all 3 times. We kept going back because the food was good, but after receiving the wrong order the first time, we called and were told we can come exchange the incorrect food for the right order, however the drive was worse than the wrong food. The next time, I checked the food in the restaurant, and had to wait while the order was corrected. The third time, I complained, and was told "we fixed it, what else do you want us to do? Just enjoy the food." I would enjoy the food more if it was actually what I wanted, and not just what they wanted to give me. Long story short, the food is pretty good, but not worth the headache and stress of never knowing exactly what you are actually going to be eating. The unapologetic attitude that is thrown at you only serves to aggravate the situation, and is greatly unappreciated.

Oh my!! Picked up two wraps today and we're amazed at the flavors rolled into each. Won't be visiting our standby popular Middle Eastern cafe any longer after tasting what Mr Kabob offers. Really outstanding. Can't wait to try some of the entrees. The menu offers everything we could hope for. Great food; friendly staff; reasonable prices. So glad we gave it a try!!!

Who knew a gas station restaurant could be so good?! I only wish I discovered it earlier. It is just as good as any middle eastern sit down restaurant. Everything taste extremely fresh and delicious! I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes middle eastern food or food in general! lol. Do yourself a favor and dine here!!

Picked up kabob platter for dinner .. Never thought food from a gas station could be that good

The best- simply the best! Amazing food and super fast service. I wasn't sure at first because it's located in a gas station, but it's the best Lebanese food around!

In a Metropolitan area so densely populated with people of Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean decent, there is certainly no shortage of dining options when it comes to those styles of cuisine. I have had some pretty unimpressive meals from "big-name" places that claim to be the best, as well as some awe-inspiringly delicious grub from little unheard-of holes in the wall. So with that being said... don't let the fact that Mr. Kabob is in a gas station dissuade you. This is the real deal, folks. They feature a full variety of Middle-Eastern platters and wraps and the like. However their pita wraps give the best value and are perfect for a lunch or light dinner. Their chicken schwarma wrap is the best I have had in the North Suburbs of Detroit, and possibly the 2nd best I have had in the area, period (right behind Bucharest Grill in Detroit). I have also tried the mixed schwarma, chicken and beef, and it was darned good as well. If you have never tried a chicken cream chop before, Mr Kabob is a great place to start. In short, it is excellent. They also carry some solid sides. I am particularly keen on their garlic sauce, which is a cut above most. And their "steak fries", albeit something you typically wouldn't think to order from a middle-eastern place, are very good. And since Mr Kabob is geared toward carry-out, they add a nice touch of cutting the top corners off the styrofoam container that the fries are served in. This does a nice job of venting steam and keeping the fries from turning soggy. More carry-out joints should take a lesson from this tactic as it really works. The only real reason I am marking Mr Kabob down to 4 stars is that I am not a huge fan of their falafel... though I think this probably comes down to a matter of preference. I enjoy falafel that is bright green and soft--almost moist--in the middle, yet extra crispy on the outside. The falafel from Mr Kabob, though perfectly serviceable, is a bit more run-of-the mill and beige(ish) in color. Also of consideration is the price point. By all accounts Mr Kabob is cheap eats, but it's still a bit spendier than you will find at a number of comparable places in the area... especially when you consider the apparent low overhead and operating costs of the place. It is in a gas station, after all. If you are in the neighborhood and need a quick bite, this place is definitely worth checking out. Even worth a short drive if you are from out-of-town. There are a couple of very small tables inside the gas station where you can eat, if so inclined. Or if your group is a bit larger, there are a number of nearby parks you could have a picnic-style lunch at. Or head a half mile West on 12 Mile Rd and eat at the picnic tables adjacent to Clark's ice cream shop--before indulging in some delicious ice-creamy desert!

The food here is usually excellent. We get it once a week or more, but several times the rice was like, watery with no flavor at all. On the same visit the garlic sauce (which we usually gobble right up) was just pure garlic and totally inedible. We actually threw it away which was a first for us. Tonight we ordered and were so excited, but when we got it home the rice and pita were missing. Paying $25.00 for a beef kabob and a few grilled carrots is beyond annoying. When we called, they told us that we could come pick up some rice. Driving back to the restaurant while our food was getting cold wasn't an acceptable solution. Plus they weren't one bit apologetic on the phone. They sounded like they didn't care. If you don't mind rolling the dice on what you get then you should try this place... the food really is awesome. It would be better if it were all there.

Don't let the fact that it is in a gas station fool you--this place has amazing food. I get this at least once a week for work. I always get the chicken kabob lunch--comes with 4-5 chunks of grilled marinated chicken, large portion of rice, vegetables (their pickles are amazing), cup of soup (I love the chicken and vegetable soup), pita bread, and the white garlic sauce. For only 7 bucks and change, you can't beat it. They get really busy at lunch, so make sure to call ahead if you are in a rush. Their shawarma is also great!

Just really great food! Made in a gas station! Honestly I am always pleased when I come here. It is great for pickup/take-out. If you like Mediterranean food you will not be disappointed.

Mr Kabob might have the best Middle Eastern food in Metro Detroit. It is probably the restaurant where my family most often to get take out. Look at the menu online or keep a copy in your house or car. That way, they'll have your food ready when you show up. The combination meals that feed 2-6 people, depending on what you get, are great deals. For under $50, you get four or five meats, rice, a large salad, pita, hummus, and all the fixings. We also had them cater my daughter's 2nd birthday party (she loves Mr Kabob too). I called ahead on Monday for a Saturday party. They had the food ready at my requested time. We had family and friends in from out of town and they all raved about the food. Everyone ate at least seconds. If you are looking for something better than pizza or fried chicken for a party, call Mr Kabob. I can't stress enough how great this place is. I have been getting food from Mr Kabob for three years, and I have never had a bad experience. I have had Middle Eastern food from all over Metro Detroit, and this is my favorite place. Luckily, it's in a gas station about a mile in a half from my house.

Got the mixed shawarma dinner combo and it was pretty tasty, good flavor on the chicken and beef. I also got a side of hummus which was a good portion for the price. I'll be back to try some of the other dishes.

Very good and close definite must to return. Portion sizes give enough for three meals with the 3 course platter. Located right on 12 mile in Berkley some of the best Mediterranean food around. If in the area must try if in the mood. Service was quick and efficient and everything was hot. Fantastic value for price paid.

Gotta love the fact that one of my favorite and most frequently ordered middle eastern comes from a gas station! We regularly order the family tray for our get togethers. The baba ghanoush is everyone's favorite. The meats are flavorful and juicy, the rice is cooked to perfection, and we love the lentil soup.

If I could give 6 stars I would. Their food is excellent! Fresh, great flavors. Always fast.

Great find for Mediterranean food in SE Michigan! Great value, excellent flavor, and decent menu. Who knew that a gas station could ever create such a masterpiece? Those guys behind the grill know their kababs. Anything and everything is good here...just make sure to get extra garlic sauce.

I can say enough good things about Mr Kabob. I just came back to the area for a visit and I had to have shawarma. Love this place.

I didn't think it was possible, but Mr. Kabobs beats out Bucharest grill in the Shawarma game. Definitely going to be making follow up visits.

After begging and pleading with my husband, I finally persuaded him to grab a gas station dinner with me. I had been reading so many reviews about Mr. Kabob, and knew that there was no way it could possibly be like the gas station grub I'd come to know and hate. The chicken shawarma sandwich is absolutely delicious, and the garlic sauce is amazing. The food was incredibly fresh, and even my husband is on board for more Mr. Kabob visits in the future. Don't be deterred by this location, because their food is legit! I'm a HUGE fan, and so happy to be down the street from excellent middle eastern food.

Snapshot: A hidden gem. Outstanding Middle Eastern food at bargain prices. Mr Kabob's humble site at a gas station on Coolidge and 12 Mile belies its excellence. I should know better than to be dubious of location -- after all, some of Portland's finest teriyaki and Vancouver's best by-the-slice pizza are served up in such modest confines. Mr Kabob does Middle Eastern cuisine in all its broad, amply spiced strokes: succulent chicken and beef shawarma, luscious baba ghanoush, plump falafel, and moist hummus the way my imaginary Lebanese granny would've made it, if I were Lebanese. For a few dollars, Mr Kabob whips up a solid lunch or dinner option. The shawarma is an old standby, a ridiculously generous portion of fine, fresh chicken or beef (I prefer chicken slightly over the beef) seasoned to the high heavens and enveloped in fluffy, warm bread that never gets served stale. Throw in a salad or a fresh fruit smoothie, and it beats any fast food outlet this side of In and Out Burger. Friendly counter staff prepare orders in record time, wrap them up, and deliver with a smile. Catered meals are also great deals. They are my secret go to for housewarming parties, moving parties, cocktail parties, ANY parties. Friends ordered up grape leaves, a tureen of hummus, a bowl of baba ghanoush, and falafel in trays that we couldn't keep our hands out of. The falafel were a smashing success and when grown men were ready to fight over who got to take the leftovers home, I think that speaks for itself. Grape leaves were tight little bundles marinated in sweet-tangy goodness, and they were breathtakingly delicious -- super tasty, bite-sized pieces the way they should be. I haven't tried the soups (yet) but come winter, they're going to be a staple. Better still, with friendly hours, Mr Kabob is the perfect option for dinner when no one wants to cook and facing off against the supermarket check-out line is a torture beyond bearing. It's much easier to blitz through the registers at the gas station.

I had high hopes after reading all the reviews, as this is my absolute favorite kind of food. Oh how disappointed I was!! First of all they were out of meat filled grape leaves???? Maybe the rolling machine was in the shop for service...it happens. The guy who took my order was pretty rude...it was like I was bothering him. They got my order wrong...I ordered a falafel pita with tabbouleh & hummus, but got falafel with a ton of onions and "the works" not a fan. The beef kabob pita wrap my husband got was so so...he's had better. We shared a small mujadara that was very dry and under seasoned. So...after a pretty disappointing lunch @ noon, by about 2:00 we started to get somewhat queasy. To make a long story short...it's 3:09 a.m. & we have not eaten another thing today, but we are feeling better and I'm pretty sure tomorrow we'll be as good as new!! My take away from this experience is don't be afraid to try something new, just make sure to have plenty of Vernors on hand!!! Not sure I'll be back.......

I wish I could give no stars. Have you ever ate raw chicken? Well. If you eat here you are completely running the risk of that. I got a salad with chicken shwarma. If it wasn't a chunk of chicken fat, it was a chunk of raw chicken. Disgusting.

I just noticed the owner commented. And he, and the gentlemen working in the restaurant have in fact fixed the issues. There has been a noticeable difference in the quality since my last posted review. I was wondering about that, because even though my last review indicated it was a little sketchy, I still went to the store based on convenience and the sandwiches suddenly got back to the original Mr Kabob levels again! I was wondering about the improvement?! I didn't realize they monitor the reviews, which I think is great! Thank you guys for listening and implementing! All I can say is "wow"

Sarah M.
Amazing lentil soup. The very best falafel I've ever had. They are always fast and efficient and the food is consistently incredible! I decided to have them cater a small party and the fact that $85 got me a full tray of chicken shawarma over rice, fattoush salad, hummus, and grilled vegetables enough to easily feed 20 adults still blows my mind. Regular meals are a value for the size, as well. So happy to have them in my neighborhood!

Fresh Mediterranean food! It is in a gas station. It is delicious. I wouldn't recommend the raw juice :( personal preference.

Well the location is definitely interesting. Located inside the Sunoco Gas station you could definitely miss it driving by. I went based on recommendation of fellow yelper, Ron C. I ordered up a small fatoosh tawook salad. For a small, it was larger compared to other places. The salad is served up with a large Pita and garlic dip. . Service was definitely fast and friendly. There's a few hi to tables to sit at. When in the area, I will definitely stop in again.

Best Lebanese carryout in the area! Order ahead or wait 15min because everything is made fresh right in front of you. Prices look average, but portions are huge. Menu ranges from full entrees, to a big list of $5 sandwiches.

I never though some place in a gas station could be clean and good quality food! very fast, but still so fresh and well made. get the falafel!

We spend a lot of time in this area during fall baseball season, so I have been on the lookout for better food choices nearby. I have stopped in a couple times (so far) to pick up fattoush and chicken shawarma, and it is so, so good. I even tricked my picky 13-year-old into eating some. He asked "where did you get that?" I told him, "a gas station. Want some?" Now, if I hadn't wanted to share, I would have told him "a Mediterranean restaurant, want some?" He would have turned me down, but gas station food? He's all in! LOL Thanks for saving us from $5 pizzas!

have always been an Anita's fan but my friend Ravan said this is the best. So off I go -food very good. Service fast and friendly enough - portions HUGE for price - this time hummus and pita - will try the chicken as it was on grill and looked fantastic. Above par hummus and tabbouleh

One of the best mid eastern places around. They are fast and despite it being in a has station(which I admit seems weird) it is super clean. A staple for care your mid eastern but they also have a few seats and tables.
(5)

They are always fast, even when the place is packed. Everything I have tried from here has been great! It may not look like much, but I think this is the best Middle Eastern food around.

Mr. Kabob is spot on. Very flavorful middle eastern cuisine all while you fill up your car! But for real, very good and reasonable prices.
This is my favorite carry-out place for Middle Eastern food. Yes, it's in a gas station. Don't let that fool you. This is awesome, awesome food. I usually end up with a chicken shawarma sandwich or a fattoush salad with chicken. It's fresh and tasty EVERY SINGLE TIME. Their baba ghanouj is also a favorite. Even the raw juices are tasty. You won't be disappointed by this place.

Rip off!! That's the best way I can describe this place. Spent 25 dollars on two orders of what was supposed to be dark meat deboned chicken. We got those thinking that it feed three people. We were shocked to see what was in the boxes. They didn't give us enough food to feed one of us. Do not waste your money

Mr. Kabob is great. Been going here since I was just a little kid and can not get enough of it. Going to school in the U.P. Blows because there is no ethnic food there so anytime I come back home, Mr. kabob is one of the first places I go.

Good food, good prices. One downside..the staff are not the friendliest bunch.

I have a reputation with my coworkers of being a serious food snob when it comes to places to eat out at while we are on the road. And considering that we travel on average 2 weeks a month - we eat out a lot. So they find it highly amusing that my favorite place to grab food to go, when I'm home, is a gas station. But, I crave their chicken shwarma entree (with rice and either the lentil soup or salad depending on my mood) always. Sometimes I'll get the hummus or tabouli too. It's quick - order your food, go pay at the cash register and then usually your food is just about ready. Or call ahead. Either way, you will have hot delicious food quicker than making something at home. Might as well get your gas and lotto tickets while you're there too.

I generally judge chicken shawarma sandwiches by one fairly simple criterion: does it taste like chicken shawarma is SUPPOSED to taste? If it's juicy, heavily marinated in spices, packed with wonderful charred flavors from hours of spit-roasting, and accompanied by a sauce that compliments the flavor, then it's passes. If it's dry, with little flavor other than a vaguely grilled taste, and with a mediocre (or non-existent) sauce -- like the vast majority of chicken shawarma sandwiches in the universe -- then it fails. Mr. Kabob's chicken shawarma passes, with flying colors. You know it's good when a garlicky, juicy, spice-inflected, brown saucy goodness collects at the bottom of the pita while you're eating it. It gathers there at the base, assuring you that the last bite, no matter how full you are, will be the best one. My dining partner, who's not from the area and had never tried chicken shawarma before, remarked, "damn, now I'll be craving these things." The garlic sauce that we ordered as a side was wonderfully creamy and not-too-overwhelming in flavor, and I've heard great things about the falafel and hummous. I've only been a couple times, but Mr. Kabob will keep the 5 stars until a lack of consistency reveals itself, or until I find a shawarma haven that makes this place look bad. It's already been mentioned a thousand times, so I don't need to describe the ambiance (what ambiance?), but the place isn't designed as a sit-down restaurant, so who cares? Pick up your food at the counter to the right of the entrance, pay at the gas station's main checkout area, then drive home and crush said food.
(5)
Joe B.
I still love this place for chicken shawarma and as I make my way through their menu I'll always order at least one but the beef shawarma was a miss for me last time around. It was a little tough, under marinated and not nearly as tasty as the chicken. That said, I've had little experience eating beef shawarma so I think I'll check out Bucharest so I can gain a little perspective on how theirs differs and maybe what it's supposed to be...I can't relinquish any stars though...this place is still the jam! p.s. I had the falaffel yesterday and it was legit too!

Not often do I get recommendations to a gas station restaurant. But when I do, I take them seriously. Mr. Kabobs is located in the BP. A smelly, gross BP, with the dirtiest bathroom ever. However, once you reach the Mr. Kabob's counter, it's like you are in a different world. Just don't look behind you. The food was amazing and prices were decent. I ordered 4 vegetarian grape leaves for $3.99. The leaves were displayed on a nice bed of lettuce and included a pita bread. I finished my snack within the next block. Delicious! Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely stop in for the best middle eastern cuisine around!

Oh My Goodness! Love this PLACE~ , just wish it was closer to S.C.Shores... Anyways I had 5 errands to run today all west of John R & this was on my radar, boy were they hopping at 1pm ...every parking spot was filled. I ordered 2 quarts of crushed lentil soup ..and drove with it & drove with it & just got to it at 3:30 pm One of the men behind the counter inquired do you want bread? [ hmmm let me think about it...warm fresh pitas...SURE! ] The Crushed lentil soup here is just AMAZING ~

I have long been touting the exceptional, "middle eastern food in a gas station". Hey, I even catered my kids 2nd birthday from Mr. Kabob! I have always thought the food was great, especially the hummus and chicken cream chop (pre-vegan me). Unfortunately, my food last week was so not good...I haven't wanted any middle eastern food since. That's pretty crazy since A. I'm a vegan and B. I work in Dearborn. My husband and kids had the chicken shawarma and beef kabobs...which he said we're not the best he's ever had. But good overall. We all had the hummus. It was terrible. There was zero flavor. Usually we order extra because we like to eat it during the week. Um, I threw out the rest it was so bad. My taboulli was also flavorless and I didn't save it either. I am so disappointed. This is our go to place. We live around the corner. I'm sure we'll give it another chance...but this last experience definitely turned me off.

Food is great, service is good, prices are affordable. I catered a dinner for 20 people on $100. Highly recommend this place. Don't be deterred by it being in a gas station

My last review of Mr. Kabob's was only 1 star because of a few different times that the food had lost it's flavor. The manager, Sam, responded on Yelp with a most gracious answer and said that mistakes happen and to please come back and try again. I am happy to tell you that we had Mr. Kabob's falafel wraps and lentil soup on Monday night and it was a fantastic meal. Usually we eat some of the lentil soup and put away the rest for the next day, but it was so good that we ate all of it! It was hot and tasty. The falafel had it's old familiar little crunch to it that was missing in the recent past. I also tasted the magically delicious herbs that made me fall in love with their falafel in the first place. Yum, no more Falafel King for us. Mr. Kabob's is so much better. So I was going to remove my poor review, but I think it stands as a testament that the manager took the time to answer in a kind manner and invite us back. That says so much about this business. I am happy for their success wish them many more happy years in Berkley.

Ok, so I stopped into Mr. Kabob yesterday on the recommendation of countless people saying "you've got to try it". I, like many of you, have always kind of put it off because, after all, it is in a gas station. I live right around the corner and any time that I wanted Mediterranian I would head to Ferndale for some Anita's, or if I didn't feel like driving that far I'd go to the rude people at Grape Leaves. Well, now I have the best of both worlds. Great food and great people...and close! Both my girlfriend (who was even more hesitant than I was to try) loved it. Can't wait to try more of their menu. I had shwarma and she had falaffel, and we shared some homus and tabouli. It was all great. It's great to see that some people just have it right. The owners of this "gas station" should be really proud of how they took what most owners would leave barren space for god knows what and turned it into something amazing. Not just was the Mr. Kabob area clean, the entire station was spic and span. I never felt doubt for one second once I was in that I was getting food from a gas station. Keep up the good work, guys. And we'll see you again soon...probably today.

I have been meaning to try this place forever and finally it happened and I wasn't disappointed! So this place is in a gas station and there is very limited parking in this joint. It's more of a carryout restaurant, they have a few tables to sit at but eating in a gas station umm I did it and it was ok.... It was lunch so I got the Chicken Kabob Special, it was $7.50 or something? and it came with soup or salad and rice with a hunk of pita bread with a few turnips. It was alot of food for the price and the Chicken was awesome Super Tender! I got the crushed lentil soup it was good just different from what I've had before at other places. So overall everything good but the bathroom was terrible though! A restaurant with that nasty of a bathroom makes you wonder how clean are they keeping the kitchen? So I would come here again but definitely I'd just get my food to go!

I know what you are thinking... Food from a gas station? I promise you will not be disappointed. I stop there every Monday night on the way home from work for my carry out. Everything is awesome, the have something for everyone. Soups, salads, raw juices, and a variety of entrees, and sides. I love the chicken shawarma, I always get it with rice, and the lentil soup, or a greek salad. Try it, you will love it as much as I do.

You don't need much cash to eat here and leave with a full and happy belly, right on the corner of 12 mile in Coolidge this place is definitely a gem worth your dollar ! I always get their shawarma sandwich or there fattoush salad . Bread and garlic is always a must so get that on the side too!

This place is great! Just finished a chicken shawarma dinner and very pleased. You see the stars, it's good. You will always see them busy. Love eating the leftovers because you always get so much!

Freshest, most flavorful food you will ever find in a gas station. Everything I've had here is amazing: the soup, the grilled veggies, the rice and of course the "Mr. Kabob Platter". Soup lentil soup - needed a little salt and pepper, but was very good and quite filling. The veggies were also good and a reasonable lo-carb alternative to rice or bread. I didn't the the grilled carrots were too good and I could have used more green pepper and I would have liked more picked turnips (pink stuff). I only tried a little rice but it was delish. Lastly the platter meat was fresh and flavorful. NOT overcooked, not dry. Garlic sauce was Amazing!!! The tables available to sit and eat aren't very stable.

Everything is delicious!! The chicken schwarma is addicting and they make the best garlic whip ever :) my husband is a huge fan if the chicken cream chop as well!

The resides of Berkley don't get enough really good Middle eastern food like we do up in Troy. On the positive side, the chicken kabob and rice was ver good, as was hummus. On the negative, the grape leaves were expensive ($12 for 12), came without sauce and were DREADFUL. The beef kabob was so so, and the portions were light for the money. Not planning to return.

Found out about Mr. Kabob from the CK Mediterranean in Downtown Detroit. Their food is delicious. Always order my favorite dish, the Veggie Combo with the delicious rice (could have the rice all day if I could) and salad. Try your favorite dish here, and if you decide to eat in, enjoy your meal at the tables and look at the TV near the door.

Excellent food... Used to work and live in Dearborn so I'm kinda snobbish on Lebanese food... This place is the best place I have found since moving to royal oak. Always fresh, quick hot and good price.. Only place I will eat out here. Don't mind it's In a gas station. It's great. Highly recommend. Staff are really friendly.

Chicken schwarma and beef kafta are always good and made fresh to order. Love the lentil soup, good flavor and seasoned nicely. Salads are always super fresh and crisp. Really good olive oil and lemon dressing. Sometimes I mix it with their hummus, which is also excellent... Including the babaganoush. A dinner portion is a feast or guaranteed lunch next day. Garlic sauce is awesome.
(5)
Crimson T.
Had chicken shawarma, hummus and fattoush tonight. All excellent. The lentil soup had to much of a spice - either coriander and cumin? This time the cashier was friendlier than the food dispatcher. Regardless, I will be back. $23 for a ton of food.

By far the best food served at a gas station that I've ever had, outside the deep south. Everything I've ordered there is great, from the stuffed grape leaves, hummous, and fattoush, to the kabobs and shwarma. I've yet to be disappointed. I always order an extra side of stuffed grape leaves and hummous though. They're fast, reasonably priced, and delicious. Plus you can fill up your tank and pick up some ho-hos while you wait.
(5)
Greg M.
Very good chicken shawarma, tangy and plenty of pickles if you ask for extra. I thought it would be better with some lettuce to add some crunch, but no luck. Tabouli was very good and very fresh, they give you a big container of it for around $4.

I moved to Royal Oak just over a year ago, from the West Side. Since I moved here, I've been hunting for a good middle eastern restaurant. I found this place on Yelp and noticed the great review score so I decided to give it a try. I didn't actually read any of the reviews though, so I was surprised to find it located in a gas station. I went in anyway and ordered the Chicken Kabob Wrap. It was as fresh and delicious as I could have hoped for. I will definitely go back for more. I just wish they offered the Ghallaba in a wrap and not just as an entree. Not many places do, unfortunately.

I could count the number of times in my entire life I've eaten gas station food on one hand. But after eating at Mr. Kabob, that's about to change. I went there today to seek out a decent shawarma wrap on the recommendation of a good friend and fellow foodie. After he told me it was inside a Sunoco has station, I had obvious reservations. I'm really glad now I listened to him. The wrap was fresh, flavorful and totally scrumptious. The chicken was juicy and tender, the garlic sauce was just right, and it was a great portion for $3.99. The tomatoes and pickles inside were also very fresh and light, and complimented the bite of the garlic just enough to tame its potency. In addition to the fantastic food, the cook and cashier were very friendly and gracious, and took their craft very seriously. My friend that recommended this place says that their fattoush salad and falafel is also outstanding, and after today's experience, I am absolutely confident he's right. In fact, since this will now be a weekly stop for me, I'll know for myself in no time. Highly, highly recommend this place. Don't be shy that its in a gas station, because its a true Berkley gem!!

I discovered this place through yelp after seeing all of the high ratings. I couldn't believe that it was for a place in a gas station. After trying it, I was instantly hooked! I find myself craving the beef shawarma with rice and Tabbouli. The Lentil Soup is also quite good. I also liked the chicken shawarma and beef kafta. The only problem is the parking lot isn't very big. At lunch and dinner there can be a decent size line, but I feel that service is still pretty fast considering. Mr. Kabob is starting to be a weekly purchase.

This is one of my favorite Middle Eastern places. They have my favorite tabbouli by far. It's always fresh, never over-done with dressing. My sandwiches are always a bit messy, definitely not car-friendly, but full of great flavor! The hummus is amongst my favorites too.

It's shockingly good food from a gas station. Put aside any fear, order out and join the group who already knows this place is good! Prices are good, the people were nice and it had a very busy vibe at dinner time. This is what Yelp does best, you find the gems!

Ok, so my kids said they brought in dinner from a "gas station". What? Are we having chips and ice cream bars for dinner? NO! Mr. Kabob is gas station heaven on earth!! No lie folks. I have had food at many Mediterranian restaurants, but this gas station food is some of the best mediterranian I've ever had!! Did you hear me? Gas station. Yes, pump your gas and then get a carry out and go home and feast like a king/queen! My favorites are: ---Spinach pies---little bites of wonderful triangular goodness for $2.49 ---Crushed lentil soup---who ever thought lentils could taste so good? ---Chicken Shawarma---oh the tasty bites of marinated, melt-in-your mouth chicken with the yummy yogurt/garlic sauce wrapped in a oversized browned-just right pita! This is $3.99 you say? Well, close up shop McDonald's, I've switched to gas station food! ---Fatoush salad? Oh yeah and the large salad is huge!!! $8.99 and it's enough for 4-6 people. Oh the humanity! This salad has these crunchy pita chips and a wonderful dressing that will make a salad lover out of anyone! Oh yeah--make sure to grab a Baklava or 2 for dessert! So fill up your tank and fill up your stomach!!! I am drooling over my keyboard right now just thinking about it!

I love Mr Kabob (or gas station food, as I like to refer to it). Where else can you fill up your tank and get great carry out? This is def middle eastern food done right. Carry out only (okay, so there are a couple high top tables if you'd really like to eat there). Some of my favorite reasons to love Mr Kabob: - made fresh to order. and it is goooood. I'm especially in love with the shrimp ghalaba (sp?), chicken schwarma, red pepper hommous and spinach pies. - Super community-oriented. Sam has been my contact and he is easy going & easy to work with. I do Restaurant Days here (20% of all proceeds from patrons bringing in a flyer is donated to our charity on select days). - Great great great for feeding groups. We have had such good results whenever we have bought for a group. Everyone loves it - even ppl who are sure they dont like middle eastern food. In total, it works out to abt $6/person on the high end and that is several styles of beef and chicken, salad, hommous, veggies and pita. LUV LUV LUV

One of the best middle eastern places around, dont let the gas station location fool you...

Where to begin with my dear friends at Mr. Kabob... Firstly, heed the warnings of those that have given reviews, this place is inside of a gas station. Do not let that deter you from experiencing the tastes of Mr. Kabob. This place could be inside of a Chinese iPhone manufacturing plant and the cries of thousands of suffering workers couldn't stop me from partaking in some of the absolute best Middle Eastern fare that has graced my fragile tongue. I frequent the area around 12 and Woodward often enough to stop into Mr. Kabobs on occasion. Whenever I get close to the intersection, my taste buds tingle and I can feel the craving for fattoush and pitas complete with hummus and garlic sauce. The extra pitas always hold up well for later that night or a nice lunch the following day. The sandwiches are tantalizing. If you've never had the pleasure of holding a chicken cream chop in your hands and delving into the succulent sauce-covered meat than you are not living up to life's potential. Mr. Kabob is quite possibly heaven in a gas station. Do yourself a favor and place a carry out order soon, your transcendence into garlic enlightenment will be well worth the trip.

Alright kids...let me tell you a story: In a nearby land, on a magical corner, inside a typical gas station lies a hidden treasure. A treasure so amazing (and tasty) that I can barely contain its unassuming location any longer. Here you will find velvety, and strong garlic sauce, perfectly marinated and cooked chicken and lovely and fluffy rice. What a treasure! What a joy! But in all seriousness, gas station or not, this place serves up some tasty middle eastern food. Its fresh, its garlicky and its plain delish! I often opt for the chicken schwarma sandwiches with either a side of rice or lemon rice soup. Oh and the price is definitely right at Mr. Kabob. So when filling up your tank at this magical corner, don't forget to fill up your belly as well....because bellies need fuel too!

Mr. Kabob is just an okay middle eastern restaurant in my humble opinion. If you want a great pita (sharwama), go to Mr. Kabob. If you want a good plate of meats and rice, find somewhere else (because Sahara Oak Park doesn't exist anymore =( To preface this review, my boyfriend is middle eastern. I have tried MANY restaurants/homemade meals. This could be why I am not a huge fan and why I'm so picky. Thing's I'm not a fan of: -Their cream chop was probably the worst I've ever tasted It was dry and lacked flavor. -The rice is very plain and also lacks flavor, which is not a norm for middle eastern rice. I feel like they're lacking in chicken stock or something...? -In comparison to other middle eastern restaurants, they are extremely expensive for the amount of food they give. I had to pay 1.50 extra for a TINY side of rice?! -Everything is an extra cost. If you want a side of garlic for your pita, it's extra. Not usual practice in the Middle Eastern restaurants I've been to....not a big fan.

I love this place! Chicken Shawarma is my is my go-to with the tastiest lentil soup I've encountered. The gas station definitely threw me off at first but the place is clean and the service is friendly. I suggest calling well ahead for pickup because it can sometimes take a while.

It's been well covered - Mr. Kabob is in a gas station. Yes, it's surprising to find good food, let alone good Middle Eastern food in a gas station. Just add me onto the list of fans. All I've tried is the shawarma, and that may be all I ever need. It's pretty damned good. Beyond the good food, they're also fast. They get you in and out quickly, even if you don't call ahead. But keep that in mind, you can call in your order, walk in, get your food, grab a drink, and cash out with the gas station cashier. I mostly go around lunch or in the early afternoon, but there's always a steady stream of customers either waiting for their food or waiting to place an order. Oh, and the prices are good, too. You can get an excellent lunch for under $10.

The location is certainly convenient, if a bit unexpected. My family will often get takeout from here when we have impromptu gatherings. Our order is often large and somewhat complicated, but they always get it right. I think we have had literally every item on the menu. My personal favorites include: the garlic dip, the crushed lentil soup, the falafel sandwich, the baklava, and (again) the garlic dip. One must be an ardent fan of garlic to enjoy the dip, but once consumed, it will be the object of cravings.

I had to try this place because it's so highly recommended... and also because it's in a gas station. For 6.99 I got a very good beef shwarma lunch with rice, lentil soup, pita bread and some minimal veg. My only caveat was a shortage of lamb options, I only saw chops on the menu and I was looking for something a little less formal for lunch.

In the world of fine dining you would not normally say "Gee Honey, let's run on up to the gas station and have us a fine dinner." Well, you might want to start. This place is a hidden gem for sure. Nearly one half of this large, clean, new "gas station" sits a mini restaurant with 3.5 chairs and a long line of people waiting for their carry out- but trust me my friend- DO IT. Walk up to that counter and order yourself whatever you like- the menu has all the classic middle eastern cuisine cooked just like your middle eastern Mom would have (if you had one) if she had a huge grill or a big spit - this kitchen is no slouch- it's a FULL ON restaurant that just happens to be located at the corner of 12 and Coolidge inside of a Sunoco....any way, order away- Shawarma, Shish Kabob, Lentil soup, Hommus, Tabbouli. You will NOT be disappointed.
(4)
Melanie S.
I love the combination shawarma- the beef is wonderfully seasoned as is the chicken. The dinner size is good for two people or two meals. Since this is mandatory take out ask for the salad dressing on the side or your meals may have dressing other than on the salad. Mr. Kabob is also located in downtown Detroit. Yes this gas station and that restaurant are one and the same.

We've carried out from Mr. Kabob several times, for family dinners and to cater parties of 40 people. We've never been disappointed. If variety is what you'd like, try the Combo for Three. This platter easily serves four adults, and includes Beef and Chicken Kafta (seasoned ground beef and chicken is formed into a long patty and charbroiled), Chicken and Beef Shawarma (marinated and slow roasted), Shish Kabob (beef tenderloin), Shish Tawook (chicken kabobs), Rice or Fries, and choice of Soup or Salad. I get it with the rice, and their amazing crushed lentil soup. We also love their meat stuffed grape leaves, tabouli, and a delicious mujadara (rice, lentils and carmelized onions). Our favorite salad is the Fattoush, which includes lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber and parsley, tossed with a lemon oil and vinegar dressing and topped with toasted pita chips. They've got a facebook page where they announce specials.

People that I mention this place to are instantly turned off once they hear that it is inside a gas station. Once they try the food, they change their minds. Its very good for what it is. Don't expect much if you eat in, there are 3-4 high top tables for the few that aren't there to carry out. Service is consistently fast and courteous. Prices are competitive. The fatoush salads are good, the shwarma is great. I have to hand it to whoever thought up this idea. If something like 75% of restaurants fail within 5 years, why not put one in where you have a dependable business already in place (gas station / convenience store)? Smart move, I'd say.

Ashley W.
I never thought one of our regular carryout places would be in a gas station. As others mentioned, this could turn some off, but get over it and experience some great food. My husband is obsessed with the chicken shwarma. It is the only thing he ever gets and he wants it about four times a week. I usually the the hummus and fatoush sandwich, which is very tasty, or the shrimp kabob or sauteed shrimp. The garlic sauce is addictive and great for making your own pitas. The lentil soup is also something not to be missed, warm, thick, and homey. Love. The portions are HUGE. A ton of meat on a bed of great rice with almonds or huge steak fries. HINT: If you like your fries a bit more crunchy, ask for them to be "well done." The guys are friendly and even now recognize our voices and orders on the phone (only a little embarrassing). They love their customers and want to do right by them. We even had them cater a party, and what a hit!

I know it sounds crazy that I would rave about food that is sold out of a gas station but it is true. Yummy middle eastern food that is made to order. Fresh, fast, and friendly.

It's in a friggin' gas station..absolutely classic. Shout out to Johnny D for the reco. Not the best atmosphere but I come for the food and leave with gas. The schwarma is not to be missed. Fantastic soups. Best garlic sauce (second to Pita Cafe). A surprisingly great experience. I've only eaten her 2x but this place deserves a wider audience.

Yes, it's in a gas station. Get over it. I said the same thing more than once when people told me about this place. But after trying it, it wasn't long after that I started picking up orders for myself. First, to assuage any fears, it's the cleanest kitchen I've seen in a while (and I've been a certified restaurant food safety manager). They do such a high volume there are probably more people paying for food than gas at this place. Second, enough people at my office are addicted to this that they know us by name, we've created a fax order sheet and we order at least once a week. Ultimately, the food makes a great lunch alternative to burgers or salads. The food is consistent in quality and very affordable (but like everywhere else, they've raised their prices slightly). Getting soup, salad and a very large lunch portion for $7 isn't easy these days. They have quick turnaround - when they say fifteen minutes, it will be that long. Favorites are beef and chicken schwarma (make sure to get the garlic sauce in either case).

I love their food. Sent here from owner of a local business in the area. Love their Sam Salad. My go to place for Middle Eastern food. Love that it's in a gas station. How convenient is that!

I was so excited to hear that one of the best Lebanese restaurants in the area was just around the corner from me! Even though I had basically already eaten lunch, I had to stop out here to evaluate the food for myself. I would never expect to find such great food porn in a gas station - but it's true! I ordered the hummus, fattoosh salad and torshi to go. Price is very fair and the serving sizes are appropriate and what is to be expected. My only disappointment with this place is the pita bread. The bread is packaged and kept warm until they throw it in your to-go bag. It doesn't look like they make it fresh which is a little sad. The fatoosh salad and torshi is amazing. I'm not sure why I wasn't crazy about the hummus, but I've definitely had better. Can't wait to go back and try the wraps!

Awesome Middle eastern food - and yes, it's in a gas station. Don't let that fool you. It's incredible! My favorite is the beef kebab - the lunch portion is huge w/ rice and house salad. Fantastically fresh and simply really, really tasty. The garlic paste is insane! So good!

I left Michigan to move to New York and haven't found a place that lives up to Mr. Kabob!! I miss you! Move to New York or at least figure out a way to send me garlic sauce!

Since moving back to Michigan I have been to Mr. Kabob7 times. Seven is most likely an incorrect number but I'm probably in the ball park. I would like to re-tell my second to last visit from two weeks ago if the crowd abides. I was finishing a 12.5 hour day at work around 8:20 PM in Dearborn. By far my longest day of work in the advertising industry. I told my lady friend I would pick us up some Mr. Kabob on the way home from work. I arrived at 8:46, the gas station was still open but the kabob half of the store had closed. Me: (Looking exhausted and in need of good news) "Do you think I could still get a chicken schwarma?" Kabobian: "Well we just closed....Ali baba can you make schwarma for this man?" Ali baba: "Oh...Okay, I make schwarma for this man" Me: "Could you throw in some hummus and falafel as well? Kabobian: "Okay man, you got it." Me: "Thank you so much" So then I waited at a table with a sports illustrated. I love that the place is in a gas station because there are plenty of magazines for me to germ up while I wait for my food. Got the food, got home, got to my basement. This was my first time trying their falafel. Taste it on it's own and it is similar to a cake donut; include a pickle strip on your fork and a dip in the dill ranchy sauce and you're mouth is jizzing. The hummus at Mr. Kabob is silk. The best hummus I've had. It has the smoothness of something whipped up in an emulsifier Billy Mays would've sold and then it finishes with a lilt of lemon flavor. We started with regular size when we first started ordering it, but now a large is required. I distribute far too much hummus per pita bread bite. I feel Adam Sandler must have eaten this and been inspired to make "You Don't Mess with the Zohan". Here's a tip on the Chicken Schwarma; get the garlic sauce on the side. They tend to overdo the sauce and the wrap doesn't even need it. I ate some of my girlfriend's schwarma with the sauce on the side and it made the perfectly slow spit roasted chicken shine that much more. The place gets five stars because of the great prices, the great taste and the heart. They only want to feed people tasty food for prices that don't make them rich but allow them to live. They are here to serve not swindle and that's why I love them. Great food, I'll see you next week.

Gas station food you might ask!? Well let me assure you I was worried at first too. Kind of against my ordinary beliefs in dining. Tried it thanks to reviews, and to my surprise!!! YUM. Feed my family of three for $14 dollars!! COMBO PLATTER. Chix, Beef Kabob& Kafta. Rice Pilaf. Veggies, Pita, Salad and DO NOT forget the garlic spread. Always fresh. Quality food. Prepared quickly (call ahead). Recommend out of all of the middle-eastern places in the area. By far the best outside of Dearborn.

Ryan M.
Don't let the thought of them being inside of a gas station (more like a high end 7-11) turn you away. Read my review for "Cafe Kabob" and there is no difference other then size of seating area. Plenty of room to eat in but I prefer the carryout because its more convenient for me personally.
(5)
C B.
I love Mr. Kabob! It's so darn good. The only complaint is that sometimes the hummus is too lemony and I can't get hummus instead of the little onion salad that comes w/ a meal. But still 5 stars because it is delish!
(5)
Troy D.
Really good and cheap, and man do they give you alot of it. There is no reason to let the gas station location give you any pause, it's completely worth it.

I agree with the previous comment. And I get people make comments about it being "gas station food" and I tell them to get lost. It's the best carry out food I've ever had. We order every monday night. Beef kabob for myself and the shrimp kabob for my girlfriend. I don't care for hummus but my girlfriend says its the best anywhere. My beef kabob along with soup and rice provide enough for dinner and leftovers for lunch the following day... Perfect.

Yes, it's in a gas station--but it's pretty good. We've had some tasty meals here and on occasion it just misses the mark. Overall the prices are reasonable and food is good--and sometimes great. A favorite is the feast for three--lots of food for a reasonable amount of money (and certainly serves more than three). Get the punch card if you're going to be a repeat customer.

This is definitely the best Middle Eastern food being served out of a gas station. It is also probably the best Middle Eastern food I ate in the Detroit area (although I didn't really have a chance to dig deep in Dearborn, somebody please throw in some gems from that neighborhood). All of the sandwiches I ate here were excellent, falafel, kefta, chicken and beef schwarma, shish kebab. The chicken dishes come with the best garlic sauce on earth (although I've heard Zankou's Chicken in Los Angeles is supposed to lay claim to this title). The combo dinner plates are comically large. If you live in the area and like the sandwiches, they have a frequent eating card (something like eight stamps and get a free sandwich). Free is good.

we are lucky to live in an area with so many middle eastern options. i have tried many, but mr. kabob's is in my neighborhood and consistently delicious. their chicken kafta is the best i have ever had. and the crushed lentil soup is rich and flavorful. the hommous and tabbouli also rate high in my book. my only reason for not giving a 5th star is the lettuce blend for the fattoush. i think any amount of iceberg lettuce is too much. it cheapens the other lettuce and the divine house made dressing that comes with it.

I recently moved to a home within a couple of miles of Mr. Kabob. I read some reviews on yelp and decided to give it a shot. Boy am I happy I did. I called ahead for carryout. I got the ghallaba (beef) dinner. They told me 15 min and my food was ready for me when I arrived. The service was excellent and very friendly. I was greeted with a smile from the cashier and cooks. They told me I would be pleased and would return and they are right. The portions were at least enough to feed two people. Generous is an understatement. Usually with large portions comes poor quality but not at Mr. Kabob. I have lots of Arabic friends from work and have been a fan of home-cooked middle eastern cuisine for upwards of eight years. I have a pretty good idea of what most dishes "should" taste like. The salad was crisp and fresh. The crushed lentil soup is smooth and well seasoned. The ghallaba dinner was the real crown jewel of the experience though. The beef was perfectly seasoned and well cooked. Not tough. The rice was plentiful and firm. The vegetables were extremely fresh and they even threw in some garlic sauce. If they baked their own bread they could take out the old La Shish for the top middle-eastern spot in my heart. On top of excellent food, it was actually convenient as hell to be able to fill up my car and grab a two liter. If you are in the mood for middle eastern food, do yourself a favor and try this place at least once. They will make a repeat customer out of you.

dang! i can't believe that there is already a yelp about middle eastern food that is served out of a gas station. my mom's best friends ALWAYS rave about it and tonight i finally had it. and i must say: it is yummy in my tummy and the price is nice. it tastes a little fusiony (not sure why or what it might be fusing) but not necessarily in a bad way. the beef kebab had a seasoning on it that was really good, but not typical kebab-y taste. the chicken schwarma seasoning was also a little bit different than what i'm used to. the garlic butter and the fattoush were both very solid. the pita was kind of disappointing, tasted like any from a grocery store. my heart still belongs to la shish, but cmon, does it get much better than at the gas station?

Okay, not going to lie, I was skeptical about coming here because my vision of gas station food as old hot dogs of questionable origin rolling around in shiny animal fat was firmly in my mind. This is the exact opposite of that. Tasty tasty food that tastes fresh and just...well, good! Had the chicken schwarma and house salad and tasted some of my friends baba ganoussh. Everything was great!! Notably, I don't normally like baba ganoussh that much, but this made me a convert. Price: good, filling meal for 5-10 dollars Ambiance: well it's a gas station....but there are tables inside to eat. Service: quick and efficient NB: You're going to get everything in a to-go box Enjoy yelpers!

Don't be fooled by their being in a gas station, the food is extremely good, always fresh and prepared quite quickly. Not only is it delicious, but the prices are quite fair, the quantities are generous and you can pick up some gas while you wait. The only reason they don't get five stars is that they are not very nice. Almost all the workers come off as being inconvenienced by your coming there and buying their food. They're jerks, but damnit it is delicious. My favorite items - Kafta sandwich, fattoush salad, hummus

Mr. Kabob is very close to work, so we sometimes go there to pick up lunch. Don't let the fact that it's in a gas station dissuade you from going there. The food is very good &reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and efficient, and they do a booming visit; the counter was completely filled with orders when I walked in and there were a couple people waiting, so I figured it would be a while. But by the time I finished paying (you pay at the gas station counter rather than at the restaurant counter), it was ready for me. They do have a few tables and have made an attempt to make it a nicer gas station, but I would still get your meal to go. One note: I have only had the vegetarian choices, so I cannot attest to their meat dishes.

I want to like it better than I do, honest! The biggest issue, for me, is that whenever I've tried their chicken shawarma, the chicken is always, always, always cooked to the point of being very, very dry. You know when white meat sort of "crumbles" in your hands because it's been grilled too long? That's the case, here. You'd hope that the garlic and other ingredients would allow for some wiggle room by adding moisture, but unfortunately, it just isn't the case. As a result, it's an incredibly dry sandwich that doesn't really satisfy on a culinary scale. Sure, it feeds you, and no: it won't get you sick. Will you be craving chicken shawarma afterwards? Yes, but not more of the same from Mr. Kabob...you'll be wanting something better, or at the very least, not dried out. I completely and totally respect their location and the fact that they're a local institution, but I regularly drive elsewhere because I can't get the "It'll be all dried out!" idea out of my head when I think of going here. It's too bad, as it's about the only honest gas station food that I can think of.

Love this place! Fast and delicious. One of the best Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food places for carry out out there. My family and I order at least once a week. Reasonably priced and fast service.

Of course you would be a little skeptical trying any take out from a gas station. But, prep yourself for DELICIOUS food!!! One carry out and we are hooked! The place is busy every day of the week, but the service is fast and the servings are generous. We always get the roasted red pepper hummus and the chicken & beef shawarma. They are delicious. Nice large hunks of meat on the shawarma's. The sauce is light and fresh and overall just tasty. The hummus is amazing with the fresh pita bread - you can't get enough. I personally think they have the best steak fries and roasted veggies. My Husband loves the lentil soup and every time he gets it - it's gone in a just a few minutes. They offer a lot of variety of food for everyone - they even have burgers! Make sure you grab a punch card because in no time you will be back with more holes in that card. The food is that good!!

(5)Jane K.
(5)Mikhaelah O.
Attentive, efficient, friendly and generous staff. The portions are massive and are at a very good value! We will be back for more chicken Shwarma and roasted red pepper hummus! We make this a regular part of our Sunday in Detroit now!
(5)Sarahjeanne J.
I'm going to go ahead and update to 5 stars. We've been going there at least once a week since moving to the area, and they are 100% consistent with the quality of the food and the service.
(5)Chris M.
(5)Varun B.
(4)Nha V.
Yum! This place is always cooking food, i smell it from my house. They have good chicken fattoush with big portions and good prices compared to other restaurants. My go to place!
(3)Victor T.
Best gas station food around. And the bestmiddle eastern food outside of Dearborn. Only wish the customer service was better.
(4)Mike R.
(5)Greg Y.
(5)Rebecca B.
(5)Thomas P.
(4)Melissa L.
(5)Maureen M.
(4)Lori K.
(5)Andre W.
(3)Will B.
Excellent food. It's not quite Bucharest, but it's damn good. Good seasoning, tons of flavor, and when you ask for extra garlic sauce, man do you get extra garlic sauce. Delicious... Good job guys!
(4)Vail B.
(2)Cathy W.
(5)Heather M.
(5)Moe C.
Picked up kabob platter for dinner .. Never thought food from a gas station could be that good
(4)Jacqueline M.
The best- simply the best! Amazing food and super fast service. I wasn't sure at first because it's located in a gas station, but it's the best Lebanese food around!
(5)Jeff H.
(4)E K.
Incredible food at reasonable prices! My Iraqi husband says they have the best shawarma wrap he's ever had.
(5)Glen R.
I had the chicken shawarma delicious I'm completely satisfied with my meal I'll have the red pepper hummus later on over some cocktails I just saying don't judge me!!
(5)Robin V.
(2)Kari Jo M.
(5)Caleb Y.
Just really great food! Made in a gas station! Honestly I am always pleased when I come here. It is great for pickup/take-out. If you like Mediterranean food you will not be disappointed.
(4)Jennifer M.
Love this place. Its right down the street from work and always ready in about 10 minutes!! Food is great, we've gotten it for catering and lunch/dinner. Always amazing.
(5)Adam T.
(5)J N.
Got the mixed shawarma dinner combo and it was pretty tasty, good flavor on the chicken and beef. I also got a side of hummus which was a good portion for the price. I'll be back to try some of the other dishes.
(4)Thomas L.
Very good and close definite must to return. Portion sizes give enough for three meals with the 3 course platter. Located right on 12 mile in Berkley some of the best Mediterranean food around. If in the area must try if in the mood. Service was quick and efficient and everything was hot. Fantastic value for price paid.
(5)Lily G.
(5)E J.
If I could give 6 stars I would. Their food is excellent! Fresh, great flavors. Always fast.
(5)Melissa M.
Great find for Mediterranean food in SE Michigan! Great value, excellent flavor, and decent menu. Who knew that a gas station could ever create such a masterpiece? Those guys behind the grill know their kababs. Anything and everything is good here...just make sure to get extra garlic sauce.
(5)Peter C.
I can say enough good things about Mr Kabob. I just came back to the area for a visit and I had to have shawarma. Love this place.
(5)Sarah R.
Great chicken shawarma, so favorful. I love getting mine with extra garlic sauce. Use to live right down the street and it made me happy to see the place always busy. The service is friendly and fast.
(5)Melissa T.
Yum! We love Mr. Kabob!! The chicken shawarma wrap is amazing. We also enjoy the hummus and garlic sauce!!!!
(5)Chris D.
Sorry, I meant the grilled vegetables that came as the side dish were very large. The veggies in the salad were perfect size.
(3)Gary K.
I didn't think it was possible, but Mr. Kabobs beats out Bucharest grill in the Shawarma game. Definitely going to be making follow up visits.
(5)Abbie L.
(5)Heather J.
(4)Amanda S.
(1)Danielle L.
I wish I could give no stars. Have you ever ate raw chicken? Well. If you eat here you are completely running the risk of that. I got a salad with chicken shwarma. If it wasn't a chunk of chicken fat, it was a chunk of raw chicken. Disgusting.
(1)Chayan K.
(4)Sarah M.
(5)Rachel O.
Fresh Mediterranean food! It is in a gas station. It is delicious. I wouldn't recommend the raw juice :( personal preference.
(4)Z T.
(5)Tom N.
Best Lebanese carryout in the area! Order ahead or wait 15min because everything is made fresh right in front of you. Prices look average, but portions are huge. Menu ranges from full entrees, to a big list of $5 sandwiches.
(5)Cathleen B.
I never though some place in a gas station could be clean and good quality food! very fast, but still so fresh and well made. get the falafel!
(5)Lauren H.
I order from here at least 3 times a month. I am always satisfied and no other place will do.
(5)Jennifer H.
I love this place! Everything I've ordered is delicious. The kitchen is spotless and my orders are always correct and prompt.
(5)S S.
(5)Suzanne S.
have always been an Anita's fan but my friend Ravan said this is the best.

(5)Sara F.
They are always fast, even when the place is packed. Everything I have tried from here has been great! It may not look like much, but I think this is the best Middle Eastern food around.
(5)Scott B.
Mr. Kabob is spot on. Very flavorful middle eastern cuisine all while you fill up your car! But for real, very good and reasonable prices.
(5)Steven J.
This place is one of two Middle Eastern joints I will frequent in the Royal Oak/Berkley area. Nothing else compares. Everything is on point. Prices are fair, and staff is nice. I always get a big platter of food that will last my fiancé and I a whole weekend (including Friday). Well worth it. Any negative reviews of this place should be promptly dismissed.
(5)Tamara Y.
(4)John M.
Rip off!! That's the best way I can describe this place. Spent 25 dollars on two orders of what was supposed to be dark meat deboned chicken. We got those thinking that it feed three people. We were shocked to see what was in the boxes. They didn't give us enough food to feed one of us. Do not waste your money
(1)Logan Y.
Mr. Kabob is great. Been going here since I was just a little kid and can not get enough of it. Going to school in the U.P. Blows because there is no ethnic food there so anytime I come back home, Mr. kabob is one of the first places I go.
(5)Edward J.
Good food, good prices. One downside..the staff are not the friendliest bunch.
(4)Amanda R.

(5)Joe B.
(4)Meredith E.
(4)Ron C.
(5)Corey C.
If you love garlic burps, and warm shawarma, this place is for you!! Also was fresh and flavorful. Go here, NOW!!
(5)Dana K.
(3)Dan W.
Food is great, service is good, prices are affordable. I catered a dinner for 20 people on $100. Highly recommend this place. Don't be deterred by it being in a gas station
(5)Valerie S.

(5)Brandon U.
(4)Mike W.
(5)Lisa G.
You don't need much cash to eat here and leave with a full and happy belly, right on the corner of 12 mile in Coolidge this place is definitely a gem worth your dollar ! I always get their shawarma sandwich or there fattoush salad . Bread and garlic is always a must so get that on the side too!
(5)Michael S.
This place is great! Just finished a chicken shawarma dinner and very pleased. You see the stars, it's good. You will always see them busy. Love eating the leftovers because you always get so much!
(5)Frank Z.
(5)Katy M.
Everything is delicious!! The chicken schwarma is addicting and they make the best garlic whip ever :) my husband is a huge fan if the chicken cream chop as well!
(5)Kathleen G.
(2)Lauren T.
(5)Hillary B.
Best gas station food around!
(5)Jeff H.
(5)C F.
(5)Crimson T.
Had chicken shawarma, hummus and fattoush tonight. All excellent. The lentil soup had to much of a spice - either coriander and cumin? This time the cashier was friendlier than the food dispatcher. Regardless, I will be back. $23 for a ton of food.
(4)Erich Z.
(5)Greg M.
Very good chicken shawarma, tangy and plenty of pickles if you ask for extra. I thought it would be better with some lettuce to add some crunch, but no luck. Tabouli was very good and very fresh, they give you a big container of it for around $4.
(4)Kim D.
(4)Matthew M.
(5)Jennifer C.
(5)Diane Z.
I Love Mr. Kabob's. A new favorite every time I go. For a while, SAM'S SALAD. It's absolutely amazing !!! The garlic sauce is to die for.
(5)Jack M.
Quick, excellent, and reasonably priced.
(5)Ashley H.
This is one of my favorite Middle Eastern places. They have my favorite tabbouli by far. It's always fresh, never over-done with dressing. My sandwiches are always a bit messy, definitely not car-friendly, but full of great flavor! The hummus is amongst my favorites too.
(5)Steven M.
It's shockingly good food from a gas station. Put aside any fear, order out and join the group who already knows this place is good! Prices are good, the people were nice and it had a very busy vibe at dinner time. This is what Yelp does best, you find the gems!
(5)Joseph D.
First time was awesome. This time the chicken is very dry. I was so looking forward to this after my last experience
(2)Lori D.
(5)Colette N.
LUV LUV LUV
(5)Anthony Z.
One of the best middle eastern places around, dont let the gas station location fool you...
(4)Fred B.
(5)Michelle I.
(4)Tatiana A.
(2)Michael Q.
I love this place! Chicken Shawarma is my is my go-to with the tastiest lentil soup I've encountered. The gas station definitely threw me off at first but the place is clean and the service is friendly. I suggest calling well ahead for pickup because it can sometimes take a while.
(4)Jeff R.
(4)Jim A.
Good Arabic food
(4)Em E.
(5)Mark P.
(4)Jenifer T.
(4)Melanie S.
(4)Dave M.
(4)Dave G.
(5)Ashley W.
(5)Tiffany E.
I know it sounds crazy that I would rave about food that is sold out of a gas station but it is true. Yummy middle eastern food that is made to order. Fresh, fast, and friendly.
(5)Ken T.
I still can't believe they serve such good food at a gas station.
(4)Jason K.
(4)Henry L.
(4)John T.
Hard to believe this delicious MiddleEastern food comes from a gas station. Everything is very good!
(5)Lee W.
I love their food. Sent here from owner of a local business in the area. Love their Sam Salad. My go to place for Middle Eastern food. Love that it's in a gas station. How convenient is that!
(4)Em D.

Don't let the thought of them being inside of a gas station (more like a high end 7-11) turn you away. Read my review for "Cafe Kabob" and there is no difference other then size of seating area. Plenty of room to eat in but I prefer the carryout because its more convenient for me personally.

I love Mr. Kabob! It's so darn good. The only complaint is that sometimes the hummus is too lemony and I can't get hummus instead of the little onion salad that comes w/ a meal. But still 5 stars because it is delish!

Perfect.

Every bite is pure deliciousness.
