Soup! Come here for the tastiest soups. Every one of them is homemade and with a slight twist. The white chicken chili was like the tastiest bean soup ever. Just yum. The dill pickle was piled with dill as well as pickles and *gasp* dumplings. It is a creamy rather than brothy type pickle soup. More like pickle chowder crossed with dumpling soup. Polish delicious overload! So happy. The best soup though? The salmon soup that is featured every other Friday. Holy hell, just unspeakably happy. The sandwiches are nice here. We went giant as we were starved. My husband had the three little pigs one. Ten ounces of meat; ham, pulled pork and bacon slathered in delish BBQ sauce. He got his on a butter bun but you can get it (as well as any of their sandwiches) on any kind of bread you want, they have like 12 to pick from including onion and pretzel rolls. I had the perfect ten with corned beef and pastrami with swiss, thousand island and spicy mustard. I selected rye as my bread after a mental debate about pumpernickel. I also added cole slaw which was an excellent idea. if I do say so myself. Both sandwiches filled up the to go boxes and our bellies too. Fries were meh but the homemade macaroni salad which was on special for 99¢ was great. Basically if it says homemade, get it! You can eat in on high stools at the counter or along the walls or take your stuff to go. The counter girls are young but very sweet and super welcoming. The food is very nice, especially for a little hole in the wall in Belleville. We will so be back!

My office orders from here regularly. They have a diverse menu and deliver- two big perks to this little spot. Their salads are pretty good. However, they frequently get orders wrong and mixed up.

Eh, I am not as impressed as I once was. As other Yelpers have commented, the staff doesn't exaclty give the warm and fuzzies. There were two younger girls at the counter who were taking orders. They don't have loose burgers on the menu, which is strange considering their extensive hot dog/overall menu. They said they could make them for me, but they'd have to make 2 due to the burger patty? They must get customers requesting this a lot, but it didn't bother me much. I do not like their BBQ sauce- I will not order an item that has it on it again. The flavor is no good to me. Once I placed the order, one of the cooks yelled out the kitchen window "What do you want on this loose burger?" and I actually answered him, From the seats many feet away. That was kind of strange that he didn't call the server over, or come to the window and ask me. Their food is okay, and they do now have a fountain soda machine if you plan on eating in. Looks like I may need to try some different menu items.

I've been here several times, and most everything has been delicious. All there soups have been great. Our favorite was the chicken and dumpling. The sandwiches are good to very good. The sweet potato fries get a five star review on their own!

This place is great. Every time I've gone the service is great and so is the food. Has an old time diner feel perfect place for lunch or a casual dinner

Well...Since my previous review was removed for some strange reason, I'll attempt to write another. I took my young boys in to check out the new business. It took over the previous location of another Deli/Rib place. I ordered a French dip sandwich and a Chicago style hotdog. I always order them if they are offered because I'm on the search for a local one made right. The sandwich was pretty good and came with a nice dipping sauce. My older son ordered chicken fingers and my younger one had the grilled cheese. Both were acceptable fair for a small town deli. The Chicago style dog was a little off. The bun and relish were wrong. Now worries though...I'll eventually find the perfect dog. It's a good place to stop for a quick sandwich, not fancy so you can feel relaxed.

Fantastic vegan eatery. Their home cooked bread was awesome and the baked goods looked amazing. The menu is small which I appreciate and everything we ate was very good. The Pad Thai was very good, not great. The tempe reuben was excellent. The staff was terrific.

Good Food, but a bit over priced. Service has always been good, but sometimes wonder if that is because you and the wait staff are within feet from each other at all times. We eat there, would not recommend if you to stay if not ok with talking with everyone in the small business. There is just a service counter and counter tables that face outside. Not the best place to have conversations that everyone isn't in your business. Also if you get grossed out easy because of others manners. Last time we were there there was this lady who had NO manners... SO bottom line.. good food, good service, but eating in may not be the best option!

After hearing good things about the Lunch Box, I stopped by this afternoon about 1:30 for lunch. As I walked in, there were no other customers and two girls working behind the counter. I told them that I'd heard good things about the place and that this was my first time there....no response from them...they just continued what they were doing (nothing). So I asked, is this carry out only or can you eat here? One of them said, "Oh, you can eat here."......back to doing nothing....No greeting. I sat at the counter and was completely ignored by both girls. They didn't move to give me a menu or acknowledge me in any way. A carryout customer came in and picked up an order. Still no service, greeting or even a smile for me from the girls. I left without ordering and will never go back. Someone needs to give them some training of some sort !

We sometimes pick up sandwiches from there for lunch at work, they've all been great so far.

Had a to go order of Ruben sandwiches.....both were excellent! Will probably go back....it is a bit pricey, but so far, worth it! Thanks for staying in business in Belleville.....so tired of everyone " giving up". Keeping it simple is the key to success!

I really want to give this place 4 stars. If it were based on the taste of the food alone - I would. But, there were a few sticking points for me. This is certainly more a lunch / "to go" place. Somewhere you would stop for a quick bite. Let's start with the positives: The food was/is made fresh. The sandwiches had a fresh taste to them. They used fresh veggies and I could tell/hear them cutting and making items as it was ordered. Likewise - I was happy with food. We had burgers and the Reuben. Both were above average good and I have no doubt other sandwiches on their menu would be just as appetizing. That alone will have me stop back in sometime to give the rest of their broad sandwich menu a try. The diner itself has a fun feel to it. It is quaint and takes you back to the simple day's years ago. They have gone out of the way to make this realistic to old time diners. With the decor, diner seating, pie on the table wrapped and ready for consumption, stool and bar based seating, etc. I would stress this is not a place to take small kids or to have big family dinner affair - simply because it is small and based around that "eat N go" premise. Not a problem for me since I understood this before stopping in. Now the Negatives: Let me start by saying this is probably more my opinion and I wouldn't be surprised with differing views. But, I really felt this place was over-priced. I didn't ask / think about it when we ordered sandwiches pushing $7. When the food was brought - I was immediately taken aback - no fries. Just the sandwich. When I was done - I was still a bit hungry. Upon further inspection of the menu it does not clarify these are sandwhich only orders. Not even an offer of chips for a side. For a fry - you will pay around $2.50. So I would have been looking at close to $10 for a "lunch" meal if I had gone that route. Sorry - that is way overpriced. I better be having dinner or something to die for - at that cost. So for a couple of adults to eat just an average size sandwich each (no sides or extra items) - and get a drink - you are talking $18 - $20. Just to put it into perspective. Further - I called beforehand to get their hours and was told they opened at 11am. So I wandered in around 11:30am or so. After I ordered my sandwich - I noticed they had soup of the day listed on their specials board. Loaded Baked Potato caught my eye and I asked to get a cup. I was told it was not quite ready yet. Give them 10 minutes. Okay - not a problem. I waited and nothing ever came of it. My Sandwich was brought to me. Soup still not ready. I ate my meal - soup still not offered.. It was now past 12pm and I had finished my sandwich. I sure would have liked to taste the soup (considering I was still hungry and the waitress raved about its taste) - but you can't serve something that is not prepped or cooked on time. Disappointing. I figure a good restaurant does most of this work before opening their doors. In conclusion - I feel on the fence with this place. I enjoyed the food - but certainly don't see the affordability. I will go back sometime. But, that is just it - I look at this as a once in a great while kind of place. It simply is not cost effective for a business predicated on a lunchtime / diner format. There are too many other local eateries where you can get the same sort of food without emptying your wallet. I hope for the best as this is a small business and I would like to see it thrive. Especially in Belleville. But, I guess time will tell.

The food is just ok. I love the french fries. The potato salad is ok. The slices of cake I've had are always dried out. I'm not a huge fan of them not having a sign to say you have to spend at least $5 to use a credit card. They will force you to buy more stuff just to get to $5 so they can avoid fees which is against federal laws.

Best, huge sandwhich in town. Go with an appetite.

Husband and I had lunch on Sunday at the lunchbox. We really enjoyed it! The onion rings were crispy and crunchy and their sandwiches were done perfectly. Unfortunately we went back tonight and had a much different experience. The onion rings were different-- not good and the French onion soup was as thick as chili and very very salty. We were hoping to get the same kind of meal we had before. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I hope the quality of their food returns to the way it was earlier in the week when we came in.

Exactly what I expected. Had a good roast beef sandwich with fries. The girls were all really nice to us and the portion size seemed appropriate.

Good food, great service. A small diner with a small town feel. Pickle chips are fantastic and so is the Rubin. They also have orange pop floats! The staff is really friendly and the service was fast.

We love this place! We order lunch and dinner for pickup or delivery all the time. You can also eat in if you want. They have fountain coke so that is a win. The food has always been fresh when we order it and the service is consistently good. I like that they use Dearborn brand meats, better maid chips and faygo POP. They always are decorated for the season and are becoming a Belleville staple. I recommend them to everyone.
