Drive-ins are rare these days, but this one at A&W still exists! We went on a cold, drizzly May day, but we still opted for the drive-in because, well, we could... And so we did. I pressed the little button and ordered up a root beer float for myself, and a sundae and 'cooler' for my passengers. The goods took a while, but eventually, a young server brought out our car window tray loaded up with our treats. It was so exciting! It was so old fashioned! And even though it was rainy and cold, it was fun going the old school route and having the tray hang outside the car window. My float came in a very thick glass mug, and it was as delicious as you'd expect a root beer float to be. Yummy. I hope this place sticks around for a long time to come. I don't want drive-ins to go extinct. Wait for a warmer day, and go for it!

We had the cheeseburger combo and the chilli dog combo with root beer floats. My cheeseburger and fry was hot and good! The chilli dog was nasty it taste more like ketchup. The root beer was flat so our floats taste plain

As I grew up in the South-end it was a treat every Summer once it got nice out to finally be able walk/ride/drive to the A&W. Literally everything on the menu is good so my mom and I would usually eat here at least once a week. It got to the point where the managers actually knew me by name. Once I was old enough I actually applied to work there and was hired quickly. With that being said, if you're ever having an issue with the young servers, understand that some of them are as young as 14 and have never had a job before but like with anyone else they have to start somewhere and A&W was a great first job. Managers are nice people and the restaurant itself has been owned by the same family since it's opening. Since it's been the same family running it they've stuck to the same family recipe coney sauce, which is WAY better than you'll get at any other restaurant. They also use this sauce on the "steak special." The burgers/hot dogs/steak sandwiches are all made fresh to order and use good cheese. Certain items may take longer than expected but that's due to it being made to order (it's worth it). I love this A&W and loved it as a first job (I worked for four years until I had to leave for college). Every time I come home I stop in for the amazing food and to see how things are running. Definitely different and BETTER than any other A&W you'll go to.
