Best authentic Mexican in the greater Kalamazoo area. I've come to love El Gallo Blanco, but Ninas is one notch better. The dining room is small, colorful and charming. I had the super burrito (loved it) and cannot think of better metaphor to describe the size of this dish. All the ingredients are fresh and the chips and salsa are some of the best I've ever had. Felix was my server and he was great (his arms are the size of the super burrito by the way). Who would've thought that such an amazing little authentic Mexican restaurant could be found in downtown Augusta?

This Taqueria is in a little one light village. I highly recommend going straight to the back of the menu to the A La Carte options - Authentic Tacos - I had lengua (tongue), tripa (intestines) and pastor. The chips and salsa were really tasty - homemade for sure - the chips are really thick and the salsa has a nice spice level and a vinegar tang. I should have brought some chips home for chillaqueas. The tripa tacos were better than average. The tongue tacos were average for tongue, but if you have never had tongue, it is the BEST. Very tender and stewed with flavor. But the best by far were the pastor tacos - marinated pork!! SOOOO good and cheap to, about $2 each...and very generous taco portions.

Had cheese and onion mole enchiladas with rice & beans and a Mexican bottled Coke. First thing: they had great chips and salsa, both regular red table salsa and their hot green salsa in a plastic bottle About my entree: Was really hopeful it would have been better based on chips and salsa... But when I heard the sound of the beep that only a microwave could produce, I knew I was in trouble. My enchiladas were rubbery and the cheese was all weird, confirming my sinking feeling about the use of a microwave and my dinner. This would have easily been 4 stars if they didn't use a microwave and found another way to heat / cook / melt everything. Beans were great. PLEASE NINAS, STOP USING THE MICROWAVE. Fried ice cream was amazing night and should not be missed!!!

I eat here often and have tried most of the menu over the years. Not the cleanest place to eat, but very good and authentic Mexican food. The tamales are about the best around here, but I wish they would use higher quality meats. The chili relleno is better than most, but my favorite is the taco dinner, Mexican style with cilantro and onions because of the freshness and flavor.

Ninas is my Go-To Mexican Restaurant. The place has had some updating in the last year and is now starting to come together. The food has always been spectacular here. I usually mix it up every time I go, but number 14 (Enchiladas) is my favorite. The Super Burritto is large enough to feed a family of 4 and cost less than $10. The bottled coke is a great compliment to any of their dishes. Service is fast and always friendly and the hot sauce selection is top notch. I would reccomend Ninas to anyone looking for excellent Mexican food at a fair price.

BEST Mexican food in the area! Plenty of dinner plates as well as ala carte. All fresh-made & delicious. Home made warm chips & salsa. Only downfall is lack of alcoholic beverages, but they carry a variety of soda & mexican beverages. Not overpriced, especially for portion sizes.

As good as it gets.....in the area. It's not the best Mexican Cuisine I've had but boy am I happy Nina's exists. Reason being, I work near by and the food options are nil, poor, non existent other then maybe a McDonald's or something 15 minutes+ away. So when the options are slim at my company's 'cafe', its off to Nina's we go!! Guaranteed to see others from my work there as I have each time I've dined. I've yet to try the super burrito but have had the 13, 20, and 27 along with a slew of items from the a la carte menu, all very tasty. Just make sure you ask for the homemade green jalapeno sauce, that stuff rocks. I should mention that Nina's does appear from the outside that it is a divey Mexican joint. I'm here to tell you that the inside is just as divey!! Enjoy.

Blown away by this awesome little place. Fresh guac, homemade salsa, bottomless chips. The tamales were unreal

Good authentic mexican food. Chips and salsa are amazing. Very accommodating to vegan/dairy free diets. The restaurant itself is not very pretty but the food is consistently good. Only downfall is no beer/wine. We enjoy this place at least once a month.

Dios mío, me encanta Ninas! I must say I've had my fair share of Mexican food, from street tacos in Mexico, to blah Qdoba, to nom nom nom BTB, to even Mom's homemade tacos (sorry Mom), but Ninas is by far el Rey de comida Mexicana, in other words, its legit. During my childhood growing up, we would often frequent this little whole in the wall gem, located only about a 10 minute drive from my parents house, and never did I realize what a fantastic little place Ninas was until I moved away from home, and could never find anything that even came close to Ninas. Many Mexican restaurants I've been to have good fajitas, but bad salsa, or great tacos, but not so great burritos, or great salsa, but awful everything else; when you come to Ninas, you don't have to make any exceptions, because everything is phenomenal. The salsa, the fajitas, the tacos, the prices, the drinks, the small place ambiance, it all goes together so well, like a well orchestrated symphony, it makes me tear up just thinking about how much I will miss it before I go home again. It makes me feel good inside knowing some lucky person will read this mediocre review, and go check it out for themself, and their smile after eating a meal will light up the world with joy and happiness. To pay me back for such enlightening foodie information, please make a small detour to Ann Arbor to drop me off some Ninas the next time you go there, muchas gracias mi amigos.

We were camping at nearby fort custer and decided to go out for lunch. Weare from ann arbor, and this place was as good, if no betterr than any place from there. We got take out and they packed things up nicely and it was very reasonably priced. I thought it could have used a little more spice/heat, as it was quite mild. The refried beans were really good. I would not have tried this place based on driving past it, so thanks for the tips fellow yelpers!

Absolutely HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! I walked in for lunch, There was two Male employee's One about 28-32 tall skinny and the other 18-22 short kinda stocky. So I ordered the milanesa my favorite. Nina's is about the only restaurant in Augusta that's not a bar. So I was totally stoked, to try it. Then I Heard the waiter tell the cook my order. This is where it started going bad real fast! The waiter told the cook my meal, to which the cook replied "it's old, it looks like shit" (referring to the meat), "it's gona to take a little while to thaw the new one". The waiter responded with "it's not important, hurry up and cook it". Then the cook persisted "it's shit.." to which the waiter replied again "it's not important, hurry up so u can take your break" All of this was said VERY CLEARLY. However they were speaking Spanish, seeing as how this is Michigan they incorrectly assumed I didn't understand. I was so horrified, I left a $2 tips for my drink and left. I will NEVER GO HERE AGAIN, EVER! I was stationed at FT. Bliss, TX for years, and enjoyed the food very much, even ate in Juarez, and never have i had such a horrible experience. I wish I could do more than just spread the word.

It's not fancy, but the food in this Mexican restaurant that's in rural Michigan is surprisingly good. My wife had the chicken mole (usually inedible in most Mexican restaurants in the US) which was quite good. The waitress assured me that it was made in the restaurant. I had the red enchiladas which were tasty. The guacamole was refrigerated (not a good sign) and a little bland but still pretty good. The food is a little on the spicy side, but my tolerance for spice is not high. I grew up on Tex-Mex and have had great Mexican food in Oaxaca and Mexico City. This restaurant is not in that league, but it's good enough to satisfy my craving for Mexican food. I wish it was in Ann Arbor.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
