The Palace Grill is a great upscale place to stop at before your game/event at The Palace! Filled with a full menu of options, I picked the recommended Macaroni and Cheese (Local Zingerman's Creamery Cheddar and Fontina topped with smoked pork belly) for $12. It was soooo good! Great cheese flavor, pork belly was on point (and I never have ordered pork belly before), and it came piping hot. We were sat in the back in what felt like a VIP booth. Top notch service.

The food here is very mediocre, but it is right at the venue, so it is still a great option for a meal before a concert or game. The service was fast, and the wine pours were generous, so overall, despite the mediocrity of the meal, I was satisfied with my experience. It clearly tops your average stadium dining situation, so when taken in that context, I think it is a good experience.

We have eaten here hundreds of times before pistons games and before concerts and before the new ownership came in and completely revamped and changed the menu. I want to say I was totally disappointed to see the new menu very sparse either steaks or a burger and a few salads . As much as I would like to give a totally negative review because of my disappointment to see the new menu I have to admit the calamari appetizer it was quite nice served with two different sauces both very good. I ordered a hamburger and it was a hamburger nothing special nothing out of the ordinary just another hamburger. My wife ordered the spinach salad and the spinach salad was flavored very tasty but was totally smothered in walnuts and dried cherries as you can see in the picture there was more than enough cherries and more than you would see it most salads. Probably won't come back to the palace grill for quite a while. $15 for a burger and fries is just a little tough especially if the burgers not out of the ordinary. I will say our server did her best with the hand that was dealt to her. Sometimes new management isn't the best management.

had dinner @ the palace grille before the Beyonce concert, Michelle our waitress was awesome and gave great recommendations. Great and convenient place to eat/socialize before a show...try the lobster corn dogs, they're delis'!

Wow, what happened to this place? Have been to dinner before concerts many times and always had great food, nice experience. Last night before Bruno Mars concert, everything was horrible. It seems the menu has changed, no specials offered and not as much variety. The service was not great, although our waitress, who's worked there quite awhile was always smiling and doing the best she could. The food took FOREVER, and before a concert that is key. I was almost waiting for someone to apologize and say some kitchen staff didn't show or walked off. As I said, I have eaten there many times and never had that problem. Even the drinks took a long time. There were many open tables when we were there so that made the long waits even more surprising. The food was fine, got simple burgers because we thought it would be quicker, but no such luck plus the condiments were all mixed up. Very disappointing compared to every other time there. Though it is convenient, I'm not sure I would go again, maybe just take my chances with the bar food next door.

Good for dinner before a concert. Decent salad selections. I personally like the Asian chicken salad. Phenomenal multigrain bread before dinner. Good calamari with an interesting (corn meal?) coating. Nice presentation on many of the items. Service was just so/so. Good place to people watch: big shooters entertaining clients on their company cards and arm candy. Realized how irritating drunk 20-something girls are when you're no longer a 20-something drunk girl.

Palace Grille before a concert at the Palace becomes an real treat. There aren't too many places to eat nearby and its quite possible to order a drink and be served and on your way out within 30 min. I totally agree with the other reviewer, wave some money to get a drink order in. The place is crowded but service is good, they realize you need to get in and get out. I had shrimp cocktail and shared some nachos, the shrimp were large and nachos were just right. They pour a good purple rain too. Had to keep with the theme for the upcoming concert. :)

Going to the Pistons game or a concert at the Palace then make sure you visit This basement bar, restaurant and nightclub. The food can be very good but this bar is the best of Detroit after a basketball game. A little bit of everyone is welcome here and it gets very cozy after an event. The bartenders are great, make sure you wave money at them to get your drink, if you can find room at the bar. It gets very smoky.
