Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

It's true that the food at Qdoba is less Mexican than Kraftwerk, but this is to be expected and not really the problem. Rather, the problem is that the food itself is intensely bizarre in the worst way, sometimes tasting like clean metal or vinegar and at other times tasting like hairspray, damp fabric, and rubber bands. Although inferior, Qdoba has some superficial similarities to Subway. Its been said that all vegetables in Subway restaurants are sprayed with "freshening" chemicals before shipment, and this allows them to hold their unbending bright colors and crispness even after hours behind the sneeze guard. True? Probably. But at Qdoba, it's *definitely* true. The food simply lacks characteristics detectable by the human sensory organs. But it sure is fresh! The chicken and steak at Qdoba is uniform in appearance. It all tastes metallic, but with effort it's possible to discern some hints of salt, vinegar, and bleach. Tacos and burritos also contain razor sharp cold lettuce, chalky beans, and white cheese more neutral in demeanor than a bag of Kroger shredded Mozzarella. The meat is housed in a barely cooked, doughy tortilla that a moth would mistake for wet linen. The rice is blindingly white, and is damp with synthetic fluid. Should you like some zing or pep with your meal, enjoy the wide variety of Tabasco sauces available for use. You might also enjoy eating your napkins and table. Seriously, Qdoba is horrible. I've never given a one-star rating, but I do so here because of my emphatic belief that eating any fast food or aged meat would be healthier, wealthier, and wiser than ingesting the "food" offered at Qdoba.

Always great service and easy on the pocketbook

I am giving this Qdoba a 4. Though I am not really sure it is fully deserved. However, it definitely would not get less than a 3. I was hoping to find a Chipotle because I love their chips (which I found out, by the way, have 540 calories, which is about the same as my burrito bowl!). However, I was in unfamiliar territory, and couldn't find it. So I ended up at Qdoba. I knew it was similar but had never been. It was close to closing time, and there was no line. I didn't like that my bowl came in a plastic container because it was cold by the time I got back to the hotel (point for Chipotle), but the general taste was very similar to Chipotle. I don't eat meat, so I am basing this off of the rice and black beans. The chips aren't as good as Chipotle, but they gave me a lot of them. The salsa wasn't as spicy either, but it was an acceptable level of spice. I have heard the cheese sauce is delicious, which Chipotle doesn't have, but I didn't try it. Overall the experience was fine, and my belly was full. I just wish it were hot when I got it back to the room... Coincidentally, I found Chipotle on my way back to the hotel. Sad face.

Yum!! While this fast food, like any other fast food, is not good for you, I can overlook the high fat and sodium levels every once in a while for a fast food vegetarian meal. Not every restaurant has so many options for those of us who choose to forgo meat. At Qdoba the possibilities are endless!! I have yet to try their soup simply because their burritos and tacos are so good. They also have a rewards program for frequent customers. This particular location has double-point Tuesdays, so if you make it a Tuesday thing you can earn free entrees rather quickly. It's a touch busier then, but it guarantees the freshest rice!! I personally love this location because of the employees. Several of the managers have been here for years, and the folks who wait on me are super nice every time I go in. I also love this location because of their cleanliness standards; sometimes I go in after their dinner rush, and would you know these guys not only polish their grill to look brand new EVERY night, they also move the dang thing to clean behind and under it EVERY night, as well!! I am impressed and wish that my job held things to such a high standard. It's also a great value - the amount of food you get for about $6 is more than enough, but you also have to consider that almost everything off the menu is over a day's worth of fat and sodium. And calories, for that matter! My vegetarian burrito clocks in at over 1100 calories!! Overall, I prefer the Subway approach where I can see my food made. I like the atmosphere, the employees, the free burritos, the cleanliness, and the value. I only hold back the fifth star for nutritional qualities of the food because this Qdoba rocks!!

2/6/15 WORST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. ANN ARBOR MI. WASHTENAW ST. First walked in greete by a lady who didnt say hi or any thing just decided to give us a list of what they were out of (white rice chorizo and reg. Beef) we were fine with that it was an hr.before closing my husband orders a burrito and say you guys really have no more white rice the lady says no so.he contined to tell.her what he wanted as soon as she is puttig the meat on the man in back brings out white rice. The lady couldn't have said they were bringing some out? We were the only ones there. I order 3 hard tacos the lady looks down and says they are all.broken in half ois soft ok, i got soft . The lady mentioned to the man who came up from the back that there were no hard tacos they were broken the man just says ya they didn't want to make any today?? Really??? So we are payin for our food aband abother employee who just got done cleaning the rug is standing there cleaning his.shoe with a butter knife dirt and food flying every where gross right???? then he comes by my and m. Husbands food and proceds to wipe the food display so he did not wash his hands. THEN yes theres more i go to get a drink i waswasn't sure how to use the machine so i asked if they were out if coke or if i was doing something wrong the man from the back comes and looks at it and says they are out they guy who was previously picking his nasty shoe said no he just hadn't primed it so 10 mins later i get a drink after i over heard them talking Bout how it had been like.that all day really you dont have 10 mins?????? And finally at 1015 (they close at 11) they are packing everything into ziplocks. Just what customer want to see The FRESH food not so FRESH. This was the worst experience i have ever had a qudoba and will never return to this location. Im sure That the health department would fine numerous violations.

Two words: food poisoning!

Qdoba has tasty tacos and out-of-this-world chips and salsa. Their taco and burrito buffet has lots of variety. Recently, I had several tacos with shredded beef, lettuce, and mild salsa. It was very good, however I found that I couldn't eat too much, as I was starting to get sick to my stomach. Qdoba has a great drink selection, too.
(4)Mary J.
The food is ok but the service sucks. I ask them to mix my burrito before they close it and the lady said "no, it will be mix once you eat it" then I ask the guy on the counter who was wearing different clothes and looked like the manager why they couldn't mix my burrito and he said "thats how we serve it"
(2)Josh C.
Qdoba is a quick burrito joint, more or less. If you haven't been to one already, you should probably get on that. The terms "quick" and "burrito joint" used in conjunction is a winner for me, however you boil it down. Sometimes it's delicious; Qdoba sometimes lands a bit bland (nothing hot sauce can't fix!). Either way, the prices are great and the food is always filling and, in that sense, satisfying. Also, props to them for frequently releasing coupons and having promotions - something the other burrito joints really ought to pick up. Anyway, I don't drop in often, but I never regret it. It's a cheap, quick, tasty meal. Nice bit of variety, great guacamole, and able to satiable persons of just about any dietary inclination (making it ideal for groups). Plus, the ample parking here doesn't hurt, either! This is a good choice when you want a quick meal but don't want to resort to fast food.

I don't really expect too much from Qdoba. I expect it to be edible, clean, friendly... and that it always is. I never expect it to be authentic Mexican, but for that matter, I don't expect McDonald's to serve 100% beef nor Arby's to serve roast beef that doesn't have a slight green and purple tint to it. This time was slightly different though. They changed the menu! But they still had my favorite ancho chile burrito. So I ordered up one of those, had it filled with rice, and pork, and black beans, cheese, sour cream, salsa... etc. Took it back to the table, opened the foil to feast my eyes on the plastic-y and wet tortilla, and low and behold.... a hole. A hole was forming on my burrito. This can't be good. One bite and the hole opened up a bit more... two bites and faster than feces dropping from a babies loose diaper, my entire burrito began to spill out onto my plate. Maybe this is Qdoba attempt to get those unhealthy tortillas off the menu. This tortilla was perhaps the thinnest I've ever seen it, sort of a wax paper holding it all together. All of the tortilla antics aside... the ancho chile burrito is always tasty and filling. If I do back to Qdoba when the urge hits... I may go "low carb", skip the middle man, and have then just drop all of the fixin's into the plate.

I'm Texan, this is no Ruchi's Taqueria burrito, but it is kind of nice to pick your ingredients. I had the chicken burrito. It was nice. The chicken was spiced just right. There was a bit too much rice, but this is a cali-style burrito afterall. They distinguish themselves from Chipotle in three ways: they have queso sauce, they want to drown all your food in shredded cheese and are a pretty stingy when it comes to allowing sides of salsa. Overall, I ate there last night at 7pm, it's now 12 hours later and I'm still stuffed! Also, the veggie nachos w/ grilled veggies are very tasty.

Holy crap this place is bad. Maybe it's because I just moved here from San Francisco where the burrito was invented: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sa… I got the Mole burrito, it tasted like it had Hershey's syrup in it. My girlfriend got the naked burrito which I tried in order to get the "mole" taste out of my mouth. It was crap as well. I'm not a big Chipotle fan either, but compared to this place their food is amazing. I won't be back.

Is it bad that a subway style Mexican fast food joint is the best Mexican food i have found in this city. Why can a city such as Ann Arbor have a good Mexican place that meets my admittedly low standards. But back to Qdoba, this place takes pride in their product, and is amazingly fast!!
(5)Clarence C.
I'm not going to lie to you, Ann Arbor, Qdoba isn't authentic Mexican food, but I like eating there anyway. I would recommend the burritos, but especially the nachos. I know you just moved here from the west coast. I know you miss that little taqueria on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and whatever. (I can think of at least two of them on Alum Rock Avenue in East San Jose, Calif. that tempt me to forsake family and the home front.) Let me just say that this is not that little place. Nevertheless, I eat at Qdoba, and I am not apologizing. In fact, I would like it to be known that I once stopped at Qdoba when I wasn't even hungry, just for a snack. If you want authentic Mexican food, go to the Owosso Taco House. The food is so good it will bring a tear to your abeulita's eye, but you might need Mapquest to find it, since it's about 90 minutes north of Ann Arbor. Or if you don't like Owosso, you could also try Mexican Town in Detroit, at some time when you have an afternoon to spare. You may find it a drag though, because it's not really Mexico. What I'm trying to say here, is that Qdoba is what it is. And what it is is inauthentic, reasonably-priced Mexican-style food with a heart. I intend to eat Qdoba at every opportunity, and will not apologize for it. And for those who, like me, choose to unapologetically indulge in maybe-Mexican food, I would suggest that you also pay a visit to Salsarita's, and make a stand there as well.

Stand in line. Watch your burrito being assembled from moving parts. Well, all right, from vats of beef, chicken, beans, and lettuce. Ford may be going down the tubes, but the assembly line lives! And it's a decent place for a quick meal.
(3)Kathy T.
I would go to Qdoba over most Mexican Grill's because of their loyalty to their customers and great savings! I love the fact that every entree includes FREE guac! I order the chicken or steak burrito bowls and I have never been let down!
(5)Andria B.
I love Qdoba. Everything I have tried here has been good and even if there is a line, it is always fast service.
(5)M D.
The three cheese nachos are great with shredded beef. There's a guy there named Correll if I'm not mistaken but anyway he is really cool and always nice to me and my family when we come
(5)Michele B.
I go to Qdoba every once in a while. Today, I ordered two tacos, and was specifically asked if I wanted rice or beans on them. I don't think I've ever been asked that before for a taco, but anyway, I said no. Then a second later from the next worker, I asked for the beans on the side. She grabbed a small cup, and filled it maybe 3/4 way full with beans. As she finished my order, she called it out to the girl at the cash register. They charged me .80 for the beans. So, I ask the girl that made the order, "If I got them on the taco, it would have been free, right?" She says, "That is correct." I follow up with, "Then why am I being charged to have them on the side?" Complete silence, completely ignored, as she goes on to help the next person. So, I look at the girl at the register, and she is completely ignoring me too. So I ask her, "Is she just going to ignore me?" No response. So, I wait till the girl making the order is done, and I say, "I was asking you a question.... why am I being charged for them to be on the side?" She says, "Because we have to put them in a container." Oh, I see. Qdoba is so greedy or broke that they have to charge almost a dollar for a Solo souffle cup. Anyway, the .80 wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much if the woman would have just been nice about it. The fact that the staff is rude is enough to make me go down the street to Chipotle or Moe's, which I told the guy when I called the corporate office to complain.

I'll preface this review by admitting that against all common sense, for the first time in our lives, my boyfriend and I momentarily considered regurgitating our burritos in yearning for the comparatively pleasant state of hunger. My Queso Diablo burrito was low on queso and even lower on taste. I don't feel full so much as palpably ill, and found the tortilla's textural similarity to the skin of a hairless cat to be the dish's only redeeming quality. The "chorizo" in my boyfriend's burrito tasted more like re-microwaved ground beef than the richly-seasoned meat it was touted to be, and virtually all of it sat at the bottom of his layered food tube. We will never return to this sordid mecca of "I don't know what else to eat" as long as we live dementia-free. If you opt for the pseudo-mexican drudgery of this joyless and poorly maintained hall of regret, may your preferred brand of bathroom tissue have mercy on your soul.
(1)Daron D.
I cant believe i never reviewed this place before but here you ago. This should really be a 3.5 review. To me Qdoba has two great things here: their pop machine and their nachos (queso is great, chicken is great, steak is also good on this). Outside of that, everything else here is ok/good, but nothing special (maybe a notch or 2 above average). So for nachos, i will definitely come here, everything else chipotle or Moe's( for which Qdoba is similar to).
(3)Dawn W.
Service is slow, you could go to chipotle across the street and tbe10th in line and still get through quicker than you could hear with only one person in front of you
(1)Eric A.
I've had mixed experiences here. I usually just go to chipotle. Qdoba in general seems like a subpar chain when compared to Chipotle, but this particular location is one of the better Qdobas I've been to.
(3)Hui-yu Y.
I used to live across the street and I used to go there all the time! Their mango salad during winter is delicious! However, make sure you tell them you want extra lettuce since the lettuce at the side closer to the cash register is more fresh. I always love their gigantic burrito! It's less than $10 and a good deal.. also the chips are awesome as well! I also like the raspberry ice tea (fountain drink). Ah how I miss tha tplace.
(4)Melanie H.
Anyone that goes to this Qdoba (On Washtenaw) be prepared for some stank ass attitude. The attitude comes from every person that works at Qdoba- they all hate their jobs and they aren't afraid to show it. Their terrible attitude effects the way the food tastes- food tastes sad and bitter...hard to digest, leaving an empty unsatisfied feeling..... Go to Chipolte or BTB...but please, don't waste your money here.
(1)MItch R.
What can i say im a big fan. Love the fajita ranchero burrito, and the queso burrito. The veggies and meats are always fresh and tastes great on buriitos and nachos. My personal favorite is the chips and queso. Fresh pablano peppers mixed with a cheese blend melted perfectly, never too thick or too runny. The chips come with sea sat and are sprayed with lime juice. Simply amazingfor 3.99
(5)Shirley H.
I love that the Q now offers the option to choose not only one awesome dish, but TWO! The last couple times I've been here, I ended up getting Craft 2 items. This last time that I order, my hubs and I were being lazy and decided to order Q, online. They estimated a 15 minute wait and our food was done and ready to be picked up by the time we arrived (10 min). I ordered a naked burrito and nachos and was pleasantly surprised and happy that they gave me soooo many toppings for the nachos. I also liked how they bagged some chips, as opposed to putting the toppings on the chips, so that it would become soggy. Out of all the make your own giant burrito, I love the Q because of their queso! Can't wait to come back..hopefully it won't be a year and a half before I come back.
(4)Julie R.
Great food and nice people otherwise. I just love this place. I highly recommend that place to anyone who love burritos and not to spicy food. The big plus is also that the employee are very nice and helpful.
(5)Jeff K.
Good burritos. Always fresh. Nothing real special though
