Words almost cannot express how delicious this place is. I will weep when Mark's Carts closes for the season and I am no longer able to grab a quick lunch. I have tried several things on the menu: tacos, tamales, and different types of tortas; all of them were great, and the service is fast and friendly!

Good, although nothing I'd label "outstanding." I got something on special that was, as far as I remember, a torta with chorizo, cheese, and jalapenos. Reading other reviews, I'm pretty certain it was the Choriqueso. It all tasted fresh and had some good flavor as well as heat, but it didn't blow my mind. Also, it was either $8 or $9 for the sandwich by itself. It was a fair size, but I definitely wouldn't call that a great value. We should probably get a side included for that price, or at least just charge $2 more if we want a side of chips and a drink or something. I enjoyed El Manantial and would revisit, but while the food is of very good quality, the price may have me looking elsewhere for some better value.

Had the pork tostadas. Were pretty tasty and flavorful, but a bit heavy on the cilantro for my taste. Only downside is the ingredients are a bit hard to understand, so mine had sour cream which I would've ordered without if I had known. Still great lunch option!

Tamales are delicious, moist, seasoned perfectly. Rice and horchata also great. Everything was fresh, hot and quick. A must if in the area, you won't be disappointed.

Didn't expect to get such flavorful Mexican food out of a food truck, but I did! The Choriqueso torta was delicious. The chorizo had wonderful flavor with a nice heat level. I was pleased that they managed to make the torta spicy, but not so spicy that it overwhelms the flavor of the dish. My only qualm with this place is that it was $9 for the sandwich alone. Would have been a great value if they offered a little tortilla chips and salsa on the side.

I had the Burrito Grande and found hair in it. That was pretty disgusting. As for how the burrito tasted, both the meat and salsa were underwhelming. At $10, it was very disappointing. I have definitely had better burritos before and would not recommend this place.

This is the best food cart and one of the best Mexican places I've been to. I literally like every single item they offer. It's always like flavor explosion. So good!! Hope they open a permanent location in Ann Arbor soon; the day they do, it'll be glorious.

Sooooo flavorful and yum. Probably the best food truck in the Mark's Carts coalition. Horchata was delicious as was the pork tostada. Their salsas are flavorful & right amount of heat.

Best Mexican food in town, hands down! I love their bean burrito and nachos because they use fresh ingredients and serve generous portions for a reasonable price. Their nacho chips are also seasoned so YEAH no bland chips! But the real addictive stand-up for me is the horchota drink. I believe it is made with almond milk and spices, so yum! The owner is a little gruff but the women that work there are extremely friendly and welcoming. I will not waste my time or money on any other Mexican restaurant in this town again; I have tried several and been disappointed every single time. So glad they are around and hope they stay with Mart's Carts for many years to come. Wish the parking situation was a little better. There is a garage right next door but they charge a $5 flat rate even if you are only there for 5 minutes....you have been warned. Definitely, worth waiting for street parking across the streets. Cars seem to be in and out pretty fast and with a little patience you can spend that saved $5 on a horchota, trust me you will be glad you did!

Its a crime nobody has written a review for this place this year. First of all, let me say that last October I had this food like three times that week because I knew I would miss it. April 1st, the day they open, guess who was there. The food is phenomenal. Why 5 stars, because it is phenomenal every time I go. I'm talking melt in your mouth meats that burst with flavor. Look at the pictures. The produce is so fresh and well chosen, you can't find a limp piece of lettuce, let alone any brown. Seriously I love this place, and lately they have had these caramel churros. Tacos, tortas, tostada, it does not matter, the attention to detail and level of execution is cerebral.

A bit pricey for Mexican food, but perhaps cheaper than the fellow food trucks in Mark's Carts. Split the chicken quesadilla ($8), which was very decent. I want to try the tostadas if I come again.

Loved my beef torta! It was a special for the day and it was delicious. If you're from Cali and used to heat, the "spicy" is mildly, pleasantly hot, but not Mexican spicy. Just fyi. Very generous serving of chips and salsa on the side. Salsa was very fresh. Recommended if you're in the area of Mark's Carts.

10 dollar burrito...... Seems alright but wish it was half the price. If you are going to go here get the pulled pork one.

The tacos al pastor are one of my favorite things to eat in Ann Arbor. They are so delicious, I will probably never order anything else at Mark's Carts. We tried the chicken quesadillas as well last time, and they were really good too. It also seems to be the cart that's usually open when the others are closed.

It is good food, pure and simple, some of the best Mexican around. The drinks are nice, the food is fresh. As I worked near this place for a long time, I can attest that they are careful in preparation, and really care. I have had some great food role out, and watching the dishes come out for a long time, I can safely say that they are very consistent. This place deserves your support Ann Arbor, check them out.

This review is based upon two visits I had here recently. The first time I visited, I ordered the al pastor tacos. They were good, the meat was a little dry, but the toppings and the quality of the other ingredients helped to make up for it. I made a point to come back. After hearing that Mark's Carts would be closing for the season, I managed to make it down one last time on the second to last day of the season. Some of the other carts had packed up and left. El Manantial was still there. I ordered the tostadas with the chicken. First off, two huge tostadas for $7-8?! Awesome. Also, they were delicious. I mean, really, super delicious. I was in heaven eating them. The meat was piled on corn tortillas that were home fried till crisp and golden. Then the chicken was topped with lettuce, crema (oh my god, the crema!!!! So delicious!), onions, avocado, salsa and cheese. They were piled so high it was really difficult to eat. Of course, I scarfed them down in my car (it was early November and cold!) I felt like a drug addict secretly getting my fix in. The juices of the chicken and the salsa ran down my arms in rivulets of deliciousness. I tried licking my arms (don't judge me), but just forfeited and let them puddle in the box. Two giant tostadas were scarfed down in record time. I was full after the first one, but there was no way I was going to let the other one get soggy and be leftovers. I gorged myself on end of season Mexican. I'm not regretful of my gluttony. I'm just regretful that I have to wait till next year to get my fix again. I'll be waiting with the utmost anticipation when Mark's Carts opens again. I'll be first in line for El Manantial.

The bf & I got the tostadas ($9) & quesadilla ($9) special, and they were both delicious! We were at first worried at the price, but the amount of food was ample. I wasn't very hungry, and one tostada was the perfect amount for a light lunch (the order came with two). The tostada was hot & crispy with a generous amount of fresh vegetables, hot salsa, breaded pork, and queso fresco. The quesadilla had similar ingredients, and the cheese was gooey and had a lot of flavor. My main complaint is that the girl who took our order looked bored out of her wits and wasn't familiar with the daily special (it said "tostadas and quesadilla" instead of "tostadas or quesadilla," so we weren't sure how much we were ordering or going to pay... but that got sorted out eventually). But it was an overall positive experience, and the food was great. I would definitely like to eat here again and try the other items on the menu! [06/23/13] Just went here for a late dinner on a Sunday, and all the other carts were closed! El Manantial was the only cart staying open and braving the heat! Tried the tacos al pastor ($4) and a torta with pierna en adobo ($7). The torta's bread was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and the meats for both dishes were nicely spiced. The vegetables were also fresh and complemented the flavors of the meats well. Don't tell Darcy, but El Manantial might be my new favorite cart.

The adobo tostada is to die for. I ordered it hot and it stung my tongue nicely. Very good and quick service.

Love this place! everything we've had has been exceptional. Fresh ingredients and super tasty. Their salsa makes everything better!! I could drink it haha. Can't wait until they open again in the spring. The prices might seem a little high but compared to other places in ann arbor their prices are fair and the quality makes it well worth it!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
