Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

It really isn't authentic Italian, but it's not bland either. I honestly like the pizza better at the Ristorante than when you order it take out from the Peppino's Pizza, but it is not the best pizza ever. The portions of pasta entrees are big and generally I end up taking home 2-3 nights worth of warm-ups, which is nice when you are a poor college student and usually come home too tired to cook on most nights. Plus, parents and younger siblings like going here and it is close to campus.

For Allendale, MI I guess you really can't expect too much when it comes to decent Italian food or pizza. But there really are a lot better places to get your chow down on and they're all infinitely better than Peppino's. I found most of the food here to be pretty bland. A lot of the pasta seems like it comes out of one of those Bertolli bags where all you have to do is cook it up quickly and push it onto a plate. I seriously doubt that's the case here, but Olive Garden is more authentic than this stuff. As far as the pizza goes, for its price I don't think it's all that bad... but again there are better options for the same price range. If you were really into pizza day when you were in elementary school and think that hot lunch pizza is the best thing ever, you'll probably like what they serve up at Peppino's. The crust is basically just bread (which I realize is not necessarily that bad... but it should be somewhat different...), the sauce is probably just tomato paste, and the cheese is kind of rubbery. I'm not big into doing this but I actually use napkins to soak up some of the grease for these suckers. There's really just that much. Yuck-o. Night time here is rockin' for the college set though. The sports bar side can get pretty packed and for those who are drinking it's obviously nothing but fun. You can order up some fried munchies to snack on and absorb some of that beer/liquor - screwing up the basic bar food is kind of difficult to do. Drink prices are reasonable and if you get in good enough with the bartenders they can pack a punch too. Check out the party scene if you don't want to leave the Allendale area and drinking is in order. But if you're looking for some good Italian eats, drive on in to Standale instead and hit up Uccello's. Seriously.

My mom and I came here for lunch a few times. One time we had the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer. We each had something different for our main meal, but both of us were sick later that afternoon, and we concluded that it was from the spinach dip. Our server was the bartender who had her small child in the bar running around and bothering tables. Wouldn't have been a big deal, the kid was cute, but she was so preoccupied with him that we didn't get very good service. This was a few years back, hopefully they got rid of that terrible day bartender with her obnoxious kid! We haven't been back, wouldn't know. They also don't have much to offer on their lunch buffet, and they don't keep it stocked well at all. Few varieties of pizza, a meager salad bar, breadsticks if you can get them fresh, pasta dishes that aren't kept fresh, and a dessert pizza. Their take out pizza is mediocre at best.

Food is decent. Drinks are below average. I mix better at home... Pricing is pretty standard, maybe slightly above where it should be. Servers are mostly solid. Bartenders are terrible so don't go there on slow times when the bartenders have to serve you at a table. They ignore you completely

I was very disappointed with my experience here. We went here for dinner and drinks celebrating two people's birthdays. I arrived at 5:05 pm and appeared to be invisible to the waitress who promptly served everyone else but me. I even waved my arms a few time and had some friends try to signal her, to no avail. At 5:35pm (no exaggeration) she was finally flagged down to get me a brew during happy hour! I was about ready to head to the bar at that point. She forgot who ordered the beer and proceeded to take it back to the bar but luckily we got up from the table and ran over to her to retrieve the beer! Ridiculous. The pizza took a while to arrive and tasted delicious. However, our waitress again disappeared making happy hour close with only with 1 beer! Later on I tried to order another beer and they were just about out of everything (Blue moon, any Mike's flavors, etc). Apparently they were down to Oberon, Two Hearted and some Smirnoff coolers. I don't understand how you run out of beer, especially when you have thirsty Thursday and a busy weekend service! Overall, very poor service - not sure if I would come here again.

Best bar ever! Get the peppinos special pizza sub it's great! The bar is laid out very well with the bar in the center of the room and pool tables off to the side. The wait staff is friendly and there's plenty of big screen tv's to watch the games.

Went there a couple weeks ago, and had my first experience with stromboli. Definitely a great entree! The portions are impressive, and the food is good. There is huge variety. The desserts could be improved in my opinion! But overall, good bar and good fun atmosphere.

We don't eat in Allendale much, but this place has never disappointed me. It has a sports bar on one side and a restaurant with a lot of TV's on the other. We eat in the restaurant side. Portions are generous. I always have a meal to take home, so the value doubles. Tonight my wife and I split the bruschetta for an appetizer. Totally delightful. My wife got a salad and I got the Italian sampler. Perfection. Lasagna was moist and flavorful, Alfredo was perfect and the chicken Parmesan was crispy on the edge and juicy on the inside. I don't know if I've EVER had all three without a hint of dryness at any restaurant. Until now. I don't get the bad reviews.... I love this place.

My daughter wanted to go to Peppino's, which is close by our home. After some bad dining experiences at the establishment recently, I reluctantly agreed. I didn't want to comment in front of my daughter, but I have to say, the food was more disappointing than I remembered. The rolls were cold, my daughter's marinara sauce and meatball were burnt. My spaghetti was drowned in a Tomato-cream sauce which tasted like Franco-American. Even though I repeated myself 3 times to correct her, the server didn't add the steak to my pasta dish, and my daughter had to ask 2 times for the remote. I was done with my meal when she asked if I wanted a refill. The Server did redeem herself a little when she took off some money off for forgetting the steak, which was appreciated. I don't often blame the servers; to me it's a reflection on how the business is being run. I went to the lunch buffet (once) and nothing tasted like it was made from scratch at location. I have been at the Uccello's and Monelli's buffets in the past, and both far surpass the quality and selection I saw here. If I were the owner or restaurant management, I would be very concerned with overall quality.

This was easily the worst food and the worst service we have received this entire week. The place wasn't overly packed and it took over 30 minutes for us to get our food. After I finished my first beer it took our server 15 minutes to even ask if I wanted another. On top of all of that, we had to send back one dinner because it was overcooked and dry, and we almost sent back another for the same reasons. We should have gone to Mancino's or the Main Street Pub. We will NOT be back!

One of the better places to dine or just hang out in Allendale, a college. Thursday night features their college night with a DJ playing top 40s club music.

Stopped at this place last night with my girlfriend based on a recommendation that they have $2 pizzas and beers on Monday nights. I was surprised to see the place was only half full at 930pm, being so near a college campus and monday night football and Tigers on the tv's. After walking in, we waited several minutes to be seated even though there was no one else waiting to be seated, the girl admitted to being confused. After we sat down 4 waitresses walked by our table, not one said a word. After about 5 minutes you could see 2 waitresses talking to the hostess while playing on their phones. After about 10 minutes we just got up and left. The menu looked good but we never got to try it. Not going back there again.

Frequent flyer. 3.5 stars. They have great pizza, subs and bar food, but the entrees I have tried have often been dry. The service has never let me down.

Don't take my 3-star (A-OK) review to mean I don't like Peppino's. It's good, but hasn't quite reached the 4-star threshold for me. Whenever I come hear to eat, I usually get the pizza. It's pretty good. I've also gotten a chicken pesto wrap. Nothing *too* special, but probably the best sit-down restaurant for Pizza in Allendale. Prices are reasonable. If you're just looking for some finger food, I'd recommend the Nachos. They're loaded up with cheese, fresh lettuce and tomatoes and served with salsa--and the portion is pretty big (enough to share among the table). Many of the booths have individual TVs, which is cool. If you aren't sat in a booth, though, don't worry--there are plenty of TVs and projector screens around for you to watch while you eat. At night on weekends, they try to turn the dining area into a dance club (i.e., clear out tables and bring in a DJ) and the bar area gets into full-swing--this always felt a little weird; the place just isn't meant to be a dance club. Oh well, it didn't seem like anybody else cared. The bar staff was quick and attentive. The music selection on the improvised dance floor is pretty ecclectic (from country to Nickelback to Usher to the Cha Cha slide). The music selection wasn't quite my cup of tea, but again, everybody else didn't seem to mind. The floor was pretty full. I don't remember the exact drink prices, but they had plenty of specials, even on the weekend. I'd say their prices are as good as--if not better than--those at Main St. Pub (a quarter mile down the street). As far as cover is concerned on weekends, 21+ are free, 18-20 are $5.
