This is one of my favorite places to eat! It's a small place, but it's bigger than it appears on the outside. The smell when you walk in the door is just delicious! This is the place for real, authentic Mexican food. They give you a basket of tortilla chips and salsa on your table when you sit down. Although not homemade, they are still good and very welcome when you're dining with hungry children! They do have a children's section on the menu, and my daughter loves to order a taco and french fries! My favorite thing to order is the Taco Plate, which is about $8. It comes with three tacos with soft corn tortillas, filled with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. And I mean FILLED! It is also served with refried beans and REAL Mexican rice. This rice is homemade, just like my Mother-In-Law makes. The plate is filled from edge to edge with food, and I can usually only finish it if I'm starving to begin with, and when it's gone I am stuffed. The service here is always fast and friendly, as it seems there's always the same few servers working. They know the menu and business very well. There is one bathroom, unisex, and my only complaint about that is that it can be a little tricky to tell if anyone is currently in there without banging on the door. I have recommended this place to anyone and everyone, and if you're looking for the BEST authentic Mexican food anywhere near Albion, Lopez's is the place!!

The place is a little run down and small. I had the beef wet burrito and I was pleasantly surprised that it was not ground beef. It was very good. I was disappointed that the salsa was not home made, it's Ortega. The hot sauce was home made and very tasty. I would eat here agian teh next time I'm in Albion.

I ate here all the time in college, and it's fantastic. Can't believe not many reviews! Stop in everytime I'm on a trip to Detroit...too good to pass up. Cheese enchiladas are the best!

This mexican taco house is pretty grungy, but the food is decent for the price. It's like 4 bucks for a plate of enchilada's and they are pretty good. They give you chips and salsa and they have a wide selection on their menu.

I was a little surprised at the low rankings, the food is always good and I've only had good to great service the many times I've visited. The Chicken wet burrito is very good and the quantity extremely generous. The place could really use an update but again the food value is there. I do agree the salsa should be homemade and terrific but it falls short of that goal. With a couple of grand to clean up and re-decorate it could easily be a 4 star.

The salsa is store bought and from a jar, the chips were cold and stale. I ordered guacamole and it was basically smushed avocado with onion and had no flavor. I ordered a beef "wet burrito" and got a mess of beef gravy and cheese, it was not good. Will not be back.

Last night I ordered a chili dog from here, and it was awful. They should stick with Mexican food, I like their tacos

The food was ok, but I'm not sure how they won "best Taco in Jackson." I've had better at El Compa and Crazy Cowboy. With all of the other choices, I don't think I'll be back. And I must be honest, for a seemingly slow Friday night, the service could have been better. Staff was too busy talking to each other and gossiping to worry about the few customers in the restaurant. Maybe locals get better treatment?

The WORST service ever!!! No one acknowledged our presence probably because I was Mexican! Go figure, a "Mexican" family orientated restaurant operated by Caucasians lol ... The servers were more concerned "cleaning" up the tables before they would attend to us. Once we decided to leave they had the audacity to ask if we wanted menus..the nerve. NEVER WILL I EVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN!

The chicken wet burrito is absolutely amazing. My family and I moved to maine three years ago and just moved back. Not sure if I was more excited to be close to family again or close to this chicken wet burrito. A definite must have.

Nice people family owned - great food! I would like to see some homemade Salsa though. If u don't like really spicy food but like mexican, this is the place. Everytime u walk in someone is saying. Very welcoming.

The food was good, I was in town for the week and looking to try all the local dives, well this place sure is Mexican food but in my experience I consider this a "tex mex" or "Americanized Mexican" (a better Taco Bell?). I still wanted the regular platillos that one might expect. Other than that it is delicious, just don't expect a "Full Mexican experience". If you do decide to go try the steak wet burrito! it's kind of funny how the locals rave about this place, I feel sorry that they can't experience a true Mexican cuisine. Also the service was excellent the owners appear to be Latinos? Not quite sure.

The flavor is just like any other Mexican restaurant. Not much seasoning or authentic taste. There were parts of beef chunks in my beef wet burrito but it had no flavor. The restraunt has nothing special to offer for seating or ambiance as the chairs are cheap old style diner sets and a few Mexican sombreros on the wall. Im surprised that the place hasn't burned down to the ground yet as it looks like high voltage cables were removed from a neon sign and black electrical tape was used to patch in some new wall lights. Only specials here are the workers. Very fast and courteous. Price is reasonable.

First time, ordered the Mexican plate special. Taco, enchilada, and guirdas with flour tortillas. The plate was overflowing and not in a good way. Not a great meal by any means. Rather eat Taco Bell.
