Was the best dining experience I've EVER had. We stay at grand traverse bay resort, which wasn't the best experience, but this restaurant, service, atmosphere and most importantly wait staff was amazing!!! Simply put the entire meal was great.

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort for our honeymoon the last week of June and our package included two dinners. We decided to dine at Aerie Restaurant both times because it was that GREAT!! The view from the 16th floor is absolutely breathtaking, we were sat by the window both times =] Our fist dinner: I started with the Scallops appetizer which was good, but not great. Followed by the Beet and Goat Cheese salad which was just wonderful. The perfect amount of cheese and tart beets on a bed of arugula-YUM!! The hubby opted for the French Onion soup before his meal and he absolutely loved it. I only got one bite before he finished it. Dinner was Filet for both of us, and I added on Shrimp which was included. The filets were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The hubby opted for the Bananas Foster for his dessert and ate the entire thing even though he was full!! Second dinner: We started with the Kobe Meatball appetizer-ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! It arrived in a white bowl sitting atop a bed of Israeli Cous Cous and a flavorful tomato sauce. I wanted to order two more and count that as my dinner for the night. Definitely the memorable dish of the entire trip for me. Will definitely get this again when we return. Then, we both ordered soups-good but not great. The hubby ordered the filet for dinner again and I opted for the Pappardelle and added Shrimp. The pasta was perfectly cooked, but it was a very large portion and I was pretty full from over indulging on the meatball so I only had a fraction of it. Then, we went for the Apple Strudel for dessert. it was good, but I am not a fan of bacon with dessert. My husband seemed to enjoy it though. Overall, it was a great experience and I cannot wait to return.

The beet salad was amazing and the staff were so friendly! We ordered a bottle of Sex rosè and yes, it made us blush- pun intended. The sweet bread was scrumptious and the filet was cooked just right. We came in winter and it was worth the hike from Illinois- a great way to start our visit. Also- the love music from the lounge was great ambiance.

Hummm, ambience and view fabulous. The 3 stars rep the food. For example, the foi gras was beautifully presented. However, the cotton candy and fruit garnishments buried the flavor of the fois gras. Basically, it was a $16 dessert. The oyster chowder was missing oyster flavor. Or any seafood flavor. Last but not least the pasta carbonara was rather boring. Where was the roasted garlic as listed or the salty taste of pancetta. I just ate a bowl of heavy cream! Our server was kind but lacked knowledge. He was unable to guide us through the wines and didn't sell us on anything.

We enjoyed a delightful and delicious Sunday Brunch. Very reasonably priced and the most beautiful location. Food selection was outstanding, and the made-to-order omelettes were delicious. they also serve a great variety of side dishes, fruits, veggies, and of course, absolutely wonderful desserts. The mimosas were delicious and the wait staff was super.

Nice, with limited menu. Lovely location on 16th floor of tower that overlooks the region. Stylish decor and excellent service. Limited menu choices for appetizers and entrees. Greater small plate/appetizer selection would be nice when not interested in full beef or fish entrees, although minimal-fee plate sharing is offered. Good, modestly priced wine list.

Had a nice evening with a group here this past evening. Prices high to average, but worth it. I had soup and an appetizer as I had salad at home (and dessert). A friend's dessert looked delicious though. Salmon crudite and pea soup. As mentioned before, excellent views to be had here. The musical entertainment was really nice too, this guy was playing the guitar (electric). We enjoyed some James Taylor tunes and that one Tracy Chapman song, lol. Capitol.

Scallops were way too salty, mussels were overly spicy and many of them had cracked shells which should have been discarded. .. service was fine, but overall there was a sense if mediocrity. we had come one year ago and only eaten from the bar menu and everything was good. apparently the bar menu is the better way to go over dinner. Probably won't be back.

We had a group of friends come here for dinner and we were all pleased with the food and service. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the view from the top is amazing on a sunny day. The staff was friendly and inviting the whole night. To start, their bread is addicting and they have an assortment of vinegars and oils to try. The bread's texture is fluffy and just the right way to start the meal. The salads tasted fresh and you can't go wrong with the kale. Their pea soup was delicious and had just the right amount of mint and lemon. The salmon was cooked to perfection and although I did not try the sturgeon, my friend said it tasted great. The proportions are not big, but the flavors are unique and refreshing. For dessert I had the chocolate cake with avocado/lime ice cream. So many savory flavors and just the refreshing tastes you need at the end of a meal. All in all I would definitely go back here even if it was just for drinks. Definitely a great spot for a date.

Sunday brunch = weird and creepy experience. Mostly because there was NOBODY there. It's a giant restaurant up on the 16th floor and there were literally only two of us in this giant cavernous restaurant. It was kind of uncomfortable. You can't order off the menu during brunch which was almost enough for us to leave - but we decided to try out the brunch buffet. We came at 1pm and it was like nobody had touched it all morning.... The bacon was still perfectly stacked up to the top... The omelet guy looked bored as hell. Honestly we talked about leaving several times but kinda felt sorry for the place. Our whole conversation had to be in super hushed tones because there was no background chatter, no music, nothing to make our 1:1 conversation private In the end, the food was really heavy and not that great.... It had been setting out all morning and we think we might have been the ONLY Sunday brunch patrons that morning. (Mid July) Pretty disappointed- we saw pictures of sandwiches online and notes of well presented food when we did our research. Would not recommend for Sunday brunch at all... We quickly tried to find someone after a few nibbles to pay our check and leave ($50 for two of us)

We were very excited to be going to the Aerie Restaurant on our recent visit to MI. We arrived and were promptly seated. We sat for approximately 25 without being greeted by a server, while 4 groups were seated around us. Each of these groups were waited on, ordered drinks etc.... We asked several times for someone to help us..nothing!! So, we got up and left... Extremely poor service.... Would not recommend!!

Brunch has gone down from my precious visits. My omelet wasn't good and there wasn't much selection for breakfast outside of that. Service also wasn't great. Our waiter seemed very unconcerned.

Not only is the food at Aerie amazing, the presentation of each dish is perfect down to the very last detail. Wonderful, attentive service too. The scallops were phenomenal!

It gets four stars because of the views. Went to Sunday brunch, having been there several times in years past. I was OK with the quality of the food, but disappointed that they had cut the variety back. Still have breakfast and lunch hot items and an omelette station, but fewer salad, fruit, roll and desert choices and no carving stations. I would still go back because it wasn't bad at all, just a bit disappointing compared to my former visits.

First off, beautiful resort and great view from the restaurant, especially in the fall with the changing colors. We came on a Sunday for brunch. Reservations were for 10 and we got there a little early. We had to wait a little bit since the restaurant opens at 10. Very professional service. Brunch came with a choice of one drink (mimosa, coffee, juice, pop, etc.). The spread was very impressive. They had all the standard breakfast items and some fancier options. Omelette station as well. The dessert area was also amazing. Very diverse. I'd love to come back and actually stay at the resort.

Came here to celebrate my wedding anniversary. We got the care free package and decided to have diner at the "special" restaurant called Aerie. We ordered a $100 champagne bottle and ordered food which turned out to be discussing. Everything was raw including the bacon wrapped around the asparagus. It looked like it was taken out of a package . I spoke with Chris the "manager" if the hotel who told me to call the restaurant manager. I called the restaurant and was told that their manager was gone and transferred me back to Chris. He said that he can't do anything and I need to speak to his "manager" Scott who had gone home and had no idea when he'd be back. Overall, very poor management and a waste a money. Never coming back and telling everyone about it

This place was very nice, but honestly, the service wasn't great. We had the smoked trout salad crostini which was really delicious and the roasted beet salad which was quite incredible. For my entree I had the trout which was just...beyond description-- cooked perfectly. The view from the 16th floor was stunning. But honestly, the best part of the evening were the cocktails. Oooh-wee.

Great food with an amazing food! Three days to definitely check out aerie: 1. Sunday brunch: the selection and tastes are unreal! And by that I mean amazingly delicious! Plus, brunch comes with a free mimosa... Seriously?! 2. Small plates on Thursdays: new and chef inspired every week. Perfect if pure not extremely hungry and want an amazing snack! 3. Sushi night in Wednesdays: they have a regular menu every week then a chef special which is usually hands down better than the menu rolls. The regular menu is great too! It changes frequently so there's always something new! The staff is very friendly and welcoming too! The bar side is a fun atmosphere as well! They always have different martinis that are fun and creative! The bartenders are very knowledgable and friendly!

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Traverse Resort and our package included dinner at Aerie Restaurant. The view from the 16th floor is absolutely breathtaking. Our server, Lisa, explained our voucher to us in great detail, which allowed us to enjoy the experience without having to guess what we can and cannot order. Even though, it seemed everything was included, which is usually not the case. We started off with an appetizer each: I chose the scallops and my husband chose the Kobe meatball. Both were absolutely amazing and the presentation of each was beautiful. Next we both chose the Beet and Goat Cheese Salad, which was wonderful. They have an amazing bread basket, which they serve it with a very unique vinegar and olive oil. Dinner was Lamb Chops for my husband and the Filet for me. We both added on Shrimp, which was included. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly as requested and the flavor was outstanding. My filet was cooked perfectly to my liking and was very tender and full of flavor. The portions are a good size. We both overindulged, but we could not resist as everything was just perfect! What a great experience. This place certainly sets the bar high.

Very pricy, but a very tasty dining experience. Everything that my wife and I ate was absolutely delicious and the menu was innovative. The staff was knowledgeable and appropriately attentive; not annoying yet involved when we needed them. I would recommend getting their before sunset so you can enjoy the view. Otherwise it's just darkness over the greater TC area. The dining room is certainly not cozy.It is somewhat stark and cold, but I suppose that's a constraint of the architecture. Very good for special occassions. My wife and I enjoyed it on our anniversary as part of a package deal which involved dinner/breakfast/hotel room. It all worked wonderfully and was a very enjoyable evening. Kids would probably not enjoy it, and it is certainly quite pricey. Very, very good.

My husband and I both had filet and it was cooked to perfection! Great food and service!

We had the restaurant week menu options. They were fantastic. One order of fried pork belly, one order of smoked cavatelli with mushrooms and spinach. Two orders of beef ribeye, cooked just hot I like it. One black forest bomb and one tart tropezienne, both fantastic. And the views are what makes it even better.
