Amazing dinner here! The calamari tenders were unreal and all our dinners were fantastic...the swordfish, half chicken and the smoked ribs. Cute decor, friendly staff and inventive menu items. This place is a must if in York!

My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday night, it was busy, but we were seated and served quickly. The food was great, and the drink selection was varied and interesting. The atmosphere was really nice, you could tell they put a lot of thought into it. We will definitely be back.

What a wonderful find in the York neighborhood! The dumplings and truffle fries are delicious. If you are getting the steak they have an incredible wood grill. Get the mud pie for dessert! The service was excellent and they gave great recommendations.

I went with my boyfriend's family and we did not have a reservation. It was about 6 p.m. I heard this restaurant was fairly new to town. It only took us about 20 minutes to be seated so we waited at the bar beforehand. The restaurant had a good selection of wine. I had the yellowfin tuna which was delicious!

I cannot say enough good things about this place! I live over 2 hours away and it is worth the drive to get to come here for special occasions or to meet up with friends. The atmosphere is very relaxing yet upscale for a casual restaurant. It's a little on the smaller side but that's something I love about it. It's not huge and packed with tons of people which makes it more enjoyable in my opinion. Don't get me started on the food.. The truffle fries are a must. I've never had fries taste this delicious. I've had the portobello burger and it is the best vegetarian burger I have ever eaten. Last time I went I had their panko encrusted haddock with pesto and I am not exaggerating when I say it's the best haddock I've ever had in my life. Their desserts are to die for. My favorite is their pecan cranberry monkey bread, and coconut rum creme brûlée with fresh berries. Highly recommend!!!

Excellent food. Great service. Real local hot spot. Visiting and wanted good food that was NOT lobster or Chowder tourist food. Great small plates. Wonderful specials but save room.... If you like local beers and fun cocktails hit this fun place. All ages that like to eat very well.

Fabulous dinner at the bar. Iceberg salad was delicious. The pork chop was full of flavor and cooked perfectly.

One of the best, if not THE best restaurant we have been to in years. Been to several delicious places around the world and The Central exceeds all expectations. The Chef prepares fresh local food and the staff are warm and inviting. Try the seafood chowder, burger, blueberry tart and dirty martini. A great place to try and try again. The menu is constantly evolving and changing.

Incredible food, great character, friendly staff! The restaurant is classy and nicely decorated with comfortable booths and high-top tables, yet family friendly. Great date place or family lunch spot! Went with my husband and 1yo and we all shared our meals and each was even more delicious than the next! I had the spicy chicken black bean and corn soup (which was incredible!) with pulled pork sandwich, my husband had the hot pastrami with truffle fries and my daughter the grilled cheese--all were amazing. I will definitely be going back on future trips to Maine!

Stopped here on our way up the coast after a Red Sox game the night before. I will start out by saying that the restaurant itself is beautiful. A great deal of care and personal touches definitely went into setting it up and decorating. It was a great setting for a meal, and very unexpected from the strip mall exterior. Really a nice place for an intimate meal. Because we'd been traveling and were just in the mood for some basic food we didn't try anything overly creative. The burger was wonderful. It didn't need a lot of "stuff" because it was simply a great hamburger, and the fries were also great. Obviously fresh handcut, and cooked perfectly. That was wifes choice, mine was soup and half sandwich. Seafood chowder was great, not as heavily creamy as a lot of chowders are. The only minor issue I had was the sandwich. It was good, but it was a prosciutto, salami, w/vinegar that would have been great if the cheese that was supposed to be on it had been to cut the acidity some. I was about a third of the way done when I realized it was missing, so I just finished it, but still think about how much better it could have been! All in all we loved it.

This restaurant has been open for a year and we had not been. It was our anniversary and we decided it was time. We both decided it reminded us of great restaurants in Napa, CA that we have been to. In fact, once the door closes behind you, it's easy to forget you are in York Maine. We started with the pan fried dumplings. They could not have been prepared better. I don't know how they get such an exquisite crunch on them but they are amazing. She had the garden salad w goat cheese and I had the Caesar with anchovies. I could see adding a protein to the Caesar for a future meal, but it was spectacular as is. The main courses were Memphis (dry) ribs with sweet corn/spinach & sweet potatoes. I had a special consisting of 8oz wood fired filet mignon, garlic mashed & Brussels sprouts. The steak also had a delicate hollandaise sauce. It was all perfect. We shared the berry topped coconut custard creme brûlée. The crunch of the crust is the bomb. Our server, Emily, was attentive and cheery. Great service. We also had cocktails and a glass of wine. The bill came and I was pleasantly surprised. Fantastic experience. Can't wait to go back.

My husband and I arrived at 6:30ish and were seated right a way... Waitress served us warm french bread with a choice of oil and vinegar or butter which was very good and took our drink order of Pinot Grigio and sangria. I chose angus burger with a side of fresh cut fries and my husband had sea bass which we both loved... This restaurant is new to York Beach opening this past month. Enjoyed going there and and was very pleased with the service.

We had dinner on Saturday and the food was excellent. Rachel, our waitress, was attentive and helpful. We had the wings small plate as an appetizer and burgers. I love that they change their selections often because we tend to eat there a lot. Definitely a great, friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

Went here for the first time this past weekend and LOVED it! We got there around 530 and were seated right away. Service was fantastic! I had the Steak Tips with roasted squash and rainbow carrots. It was perfectly delicious! My husband had a burger which he also loved. We had a special cheesecake for dessert! We will absolutely be going back to the Central. Great atmosphere!

Another delightful meal!!! I had the tuna & shrimp special which quite good. My partner had the cider brined pork chop... Wow! I usually avoid ordering pork chops in restaurants, I've been served one too many saw dust dry ones. The Centrals pork chop was thick, pump, juicy and cooked perfectly. I know what I'm having the next time I'm there. PS the pumpkin chai crime brûlée is delicious!

We ordered truffle fries and the arugula and kale salad. Both were excellent and portions were large. Our entries did not disappoint. The salmon and swordfish were coked to perfection. We chose the sesame roasted brussels and roast squash. Again portions were generous and wonderful. We will definitely be back. A new favorite!

What a wonderful dinner surprise. Tucked away in a strip mall that no one would ever expect is a true hidden jewel. My husband and I had an amazing dinner. We are summer residents and love to support local business. This is one we had never visited. My watermelon mint martini was fabulous not to sweet with a great mint taste at the end. We ordered the pork dumplings for an app that were great. I loved the salty tang to the sauce bit if you are on a sodium restricted diet maybe not for you. Otherwise delicish! My steak was cooked to absolute perfection! I love med rare and that can be tough! Asparagus and grilled Brussel sprouts were fabulous. I am a baker and very rarely order desert but my husband ordered the carrot cake. Kudos to the baker. Amazing!!!! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

This place was great. The calamari was the best we have had and all of our meals were creative and flavorful. The service was friendly and efficient. For a random stop without using yelp, I was worried but I don't think there is a better choice. Our grumpy 19 month old was given oyster crackers and become silly happy.

The small plate selections and drinks were creative and very very good. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Easy location to get to for locals and tourists with tons of free parking. We did not have any entrées but they were appealing to read about. The fries in the garlic truffle oil were amazing! Recommend!!

Awesome drinks! Great selection and variety of small plates. Good place to stop if you want to escape the "tourist scene". Had a super delicious BBQ pork belly sandwich there a couple months ago, I still rave about it to everyone. Definitely give it a try!

Folks, this is a hidden gem. I've been here many times and all that I can say is that it is shocking that a restaurant of this quality is in York Village. I've tried a number of items on the menu and have loved them all. I especially love their French onion soup and truffle fries. Any of their smoked meats are fantastic. Recently, I had a smoked lamb pizza that was out of this world. I would strongly recommend this place to those that have not tried it. The owners are a young couple that are doing everything correctly and deserve to be wildly successful.

We have been waiting anxiously for this restaurant to open - it's literally around the corner from our house. We went on their official opening day for dinner and sat at the bar. The decor is beautiful and simple. The bartender introduced himself, gave us menus and we were off! My husband tried a Maine draft beer and I had a glass of pinot noir. For dinner, he ordered the beef brisket "for him" (a larger portion) for $13 and I had the angus burger with vermont cheddar and avocado for $9. We each got a side - he got spiced pinto beans, I opted for a salad. One of the owners came by to say hello and everyone was very friendly. Both of our sandwiches were absolutely delicious and came with pickles on mine and jalapenos on his. The salad was the perfect portion size with bell peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes in addition to the lettuce and bleu cheese dressing. I tried the pinto beans and they were also delicious. We didn't leave a thing on our plates! For "dessert" I had a drink called a Paloma, a different kind of margarita and my husband had a key lime drink. Both were excellent. Their prices are reasonable, the food is excellent and the staff is wonderful. I am just so happy they will be open year round. Not many restaurants in York are that are reasonably priced, so we have claimed our two seats at the bar and plan on becoming regulars!

Second visit to this newly opened establishment...sat at the bar this time since I was solo. Ordered the Koren BBQ short ribs which arrived charred and tasteless. Fortunately, the vegetable sides saved the meal. I was just too tired and hungry to send it back. Mentioned the overcooked ribs to the bartender, but not sure he grasped the concept that the kitchen staff should care enough not to serve flavorless, burnt meat. On both visits, I've found the wait staff to be inexperienced. I hope this place ups its game a bit.
