I've had better baked stuffed lobsters, but it was good. The accompanying bread and vegetables were good. The setting is spectacular. The dining room smelled a bit musty, but the porch was lovely. Not in a huge hurry to go back.

My husband and I were staying on site at the inn, so naturally we ate here for our first night. We were immediately seated. The view of the water is beautiful. Not crowded at all (Monday evening). It's quiet, romantic, and clean. Our waitress is very sweet and offers suggestions for a drink. I wasn't sure what I wanted and gave her a starting point of "rum and sweet". The drink she suggested was delicious! I actually came back the next day just to have another. My husband ordered the steak, which was HUGE and cooked perfectly. I ordered the drunken lobster and scallops. I feel ashamed but normally I'm not a huge fan of lobster. Our waitress actually suggested it saying the sauce is the best. She was right! It was absolutely delicious and the texture of the lobster was melt in your mouth tender (guess I had bad experience with lobster in the past with it being too rubbery). The sauce was delicious. I also got the clam chowder. It was alright. I personally like it a bit thicker, but that's just me. The food was great, the atmosphere was great, the people were great. Just a bit on the pricey side. They have no real closing time. It depends how busy it is. So we weren't able to plan to come back and try dessert or get another drink from the bar.

Beautiful location but bland food. Our server was great (though the hostess could NOT be bothered by our late-night-but-seated-before-closing presence). Our dinner company was top-notch, but a restaurant experience should also be about the food. We ordered some fish dishes, but it's not worth describing them. Why? I couldn't distinguish one from the other. I think one had some kind of balsamic thing, and another some other sauce-ish. But nothing worth writing home about. It sucks to have bad seafood in New England when you're -- literally -- dockside. I think we'll steer ourselves inland the next time we're seeking dinner.

My family and I were there for a wedding this weekend. The ambience was great and the servers were friendly. The staff, especially in the kitchen, were shorthanded that night, which was a cause of a few miscues. The management/ owner recognized the situation and did the right thing by discounting a portion of the total bill. Weddings are special, memorable, and very stressful. Because of Dockside's cooperation in keeping that night special we will definitely not hesitate in recommending them to others.

We went to the Dockside while on vacation in York. First we had a drink at the bar and the bartender (Paul) was great. He was extremely knowledgable about the wines on the menu and made my wife a fantastic Cosmo. They were very happy to transfer our drink order over to our table. Our waitress (Heather) could not have been better. She gave a very detailed description of the foods we were interested in and even gave us some interesting details about the property. Very attentive and quick with our order. The mozzarella appetizer was delicious and so was my wife's Caesar salad. I had the Drunken Lobster and it was excellent. Very large portion with scallops and a lot of lobster. Not too heavy with the cream sauce. Overall it was a great dinner. The views were spectacular and the service was fantastic. Excellent food.

My grandfather lives down the street from Dockside so whenever I'm home visiting, we hit up our old favorite. The food has been hit or miss over the years, but since the original owner's son took over the restaurant a year or two ago, the food has been much more consistent. It's never too crowded since it's off the beaten path, but the views alone are a great reason to go. The restaurant overlooks the harbor which is full of boats, and at low tide, lots of birds you don't see every day like great blue herons. I often get chowder or lobster, all of which are cooked well. If the baked lobster dish is on the menu, that is a must! Just delicious. They are very attentive with drinks (on more than one occasion I have stumbled out of there!), and will bring as much bread as you want. If you're looking for a quiet place that is popular with the locals with gorgeous New England scenery to boot, Dockside is your place.

My wife and I went to Dockside for our anniversary on a recommendation, and were disappointed. My wife had the Sirloin which had good flavor, but also had a great deal of fat. I had the Haddock, which is supposed to be a specialty. The flavor was great, but it appeared to have been mass-produced and sat in the fridge for a while, and had a dry film over the whole fish. The worst part of the evening was the 20 minutes we had to wait for our check after our waitress saw we had finished our meal. Then, when she never came back to get the check, my wife got fed up and we took our payment to the front. The view was great, but service lousy.

Avoid this place at all costs. My family and I were staying at the adjacent Inn which is great and decided to try this place. We arrived for our 6:30 pm reservation and were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait. The place was half empty at the time. My son ordered Sirloin and wanted to subsitute the mashed potatoes for the whole potatoes. Our waitress said there are no substitutions allowed as they allocate the side dishes to whatever you order. We are in Maine and you can't find an extra potato? The waitress was hard to find, our meal took forever to arrive, and the scallops I had were tasteless and cold upon arrival. We have gone to Maine for years but this was the worst meal and service I have ever experienced. Stay away!!!!

We had lunch on the screened porch on a beautiful June day. The view is always one of the most special aspects of the dining experience. Our lunch of fish n' chips was well prepared. I was taken by surprise by the price of 2 cups of coffee, $7.00, without even an offer of a refill. A nice location but pricey

Just a quick note to tell you what a fantastic evening my family and I had tonight. Our server Devan is an amazing representative for your restaurant as well! The food was incredible and everyone (very rare) was raving about their meals. Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Very loud restaurant. Scolops were a little under cooked. Chocolate cake martini was to die for.

We decided to relax in Maine got a few days and this restaurant was recommended by the Inn lady. We ate at the bar area with their separate menu from the dinning area. The menu is focused on sea food being a wise decision for one travels to Maine for lobster and assorted shell fish. We had a lobster roll and crab cakes to our delight. Food was prepared and served with pride. I'll come again

LOVE the Dockside. Food is good, nice range of offerings, good bar but service can be spotty. Still miss the little salad bar (gone for maybe 10 years, but not a fan of change ). The real reason we love this restaurant: the amazing view. Reserve a table on the porch, and bang a wrap or a sweater...and enjoy. Ask for a quiet table. Very romantic.

I just enjoyed one of the best dinners ever at the Dockside. The seafood chowder was full of fresh and delicious bits of clams, fish and other goodies. The Drunken Lobster Sauté was perfect in its whisky sauce- really delicious. The blueberry pie for dessert was a perfect ending with fresh brewed coffee. The setting on York Harbor cannot be any more picturesque. Go and enjoy. I'll be back.

Excellent meal. Well prepared , good service. Fried clams were plumply and tasty and not greasy. Stuffed lobster was well prepared and stuffing tasty but not overboard. Water views very calming. Worth the ride.

Just had BBQ braised beef ribs dish- a special dish on the menu. It was the most delicious dish I've ever had. My wife and I always look for interesting restaurants and dishes that are different and unique. In addition the service was great and the view is breath taking. We will come back here again for sure.

Used this venue for my wedding rehearsal dinner so can't speak to the experience of being a regular diner at the restaurant. For hosting an event for my closest family and friends this was OUTSTANDING. I wanted to give my guests a true New England experience and the Dockside totally delivered. I mean eating raw oysters and lobster while drinking Sam Adams and staring at boats coming in and out of the harbor... it doesn't get any more authentic than that. Phil was able to help me choose a menu and drinks that suited our event. We had appetizers and cocktails on the lawn and then moved in to a sectioned off part of the dining room for dinner. We got dedicated wait staff who did a great job of feeding 45 people all at once. Drinks were great. Prices were more than fair. The view is simply spectacular. Everything went smoothly down to the last detail. Would highly recommend this place for group events! Made for a meal I will never forget. Thanks to Phil and all of his staff!

I have read all the previous reviews. Was excited to have my own experience. Our meals at the Dockside were included in our stay, so it wasn't really going to be a loss if it were sub-par. It was WONDERFUL. service wonderful. Atmosphere wonderful. Food wonderful. Prices NOT unreasonable considering location, and food quality. Where I come from (Cape Cod) the prices are the same MINUS the spectacular view. I recommend the peekytoe crab cakes with arugula and corn salad. Perfect The slow simmered chicken with homemade pasta and carrots was out of this world. Desserts - enormous and amazing.
