Love the environment. Food is exceptional. The menue offers something for everyone, even kids! We've always had great service. Best of all, the prices are very reasonable. This our favorite place for a night out or bring friends and family!!!

I'd probably rate this straight down the middle at two and a half stars, so there you have it. In a large house like building sits this bbq joint in a small Maine town. Thinking about BBQ in Maine is probably the last thing on my mind while visiting but having some good ones in North Carolina, Virginia and all, I'd see how this fares. I don't even mind Famous Daves actually, they kind of surprise me. However, the decor is not unlike your typical cheesy TGIF or Ruby Tuesday's. Still, I went in and was greeted with a REALLY good waitress who took care of us and our family very nicely. First off, the menu seems like a relic from the 80s. It's all black with lots of splattered color with the items listed all over. It's VERY hard to read. Luckily I figured I would sample just some simple ribs and a side to keep me happy. Dry rub, nothing crazy, and I always prefer pork to beef. I went for St. Louis small portion and the ribs probably needed to be cooked a little longer. Slightly bland but nothing too terrible, but the meat just didn't melt off the bone, I found myself really having to pull it off. Not a good sign. Side collards were fine, even with a nice little peppered vinegar. Nice touch. Actually their sauces were really good, particularly their homemade blueberry and bbq, that was really nice. I tried someone else's brisket, and it was ok but nothing special. However, they have a "wolf ribs" choice here, which is from local beef farms nearby which is also organic. I didn't order them but someone else did and jesus they are BIG. Like I said I prefer pork to beef for bbq. I did try them, and I would have to admit they are better than the regular pork ribs they offer here, and I would steer people towards them for a choice, but they are also much pricier. Not really that authentic for BBQ, could step up and be a little better, but it's also not a total waste or filled with bad service. There were even some good local beer selections on tap as well, and I like I say the staff here was really good, just wish the food was a little better.

Another excellent meal here at the BBQ...wife had a pulled pork that was excellent and I had the French dip that was very good...excellent service and food came from the kitchen quickly...I would strongly recommend this place...they will up charge you for certain sides, so watch out...

I took my family here on a lark about a month ago. The place is nice and clean and we were sat promptly by the hostess. They have a nice selection of local beers and a happy hour, so I was very content. We ordered appetizers as well a full rack of pork ribs with sides. I am picky about barbecue, but found the ribs to have been dry rubbed and smoked well. They were very tasty and tender, obviously the pit master knows what he/she is doing. The price is also very reasonable for the quality of food and service received. Windham is loaded with crappy chain restaurants which charge more money for lesser quality. I would recommend Bucks over the lot of them.

Really was looking forward to a great meal at Bucks, but was extremely disappointed. First, we had a couple of young kids, so they put us in the basement "kid zone", which was filthy. Second, the food was horrible. Ribs were dry, with no flavor. Sauces were on the table in what looked like reused ketchup bottles, which were unmarked, so it added the Mystery Sauce game to the meal. We will not be back, and probably skip their other locations as well.

Easily one of the best places to eat in the Windham area, Buck's Naked BBQ is a great choice for all occasions! My wife and I love to come here for the friendly service, amazing food and great drink choices, and enjoy intimate dinners and drinks even when it's a fun and rowdy atmosphere. Their Chef has updated the menu for this year and it's proof of forward thinking and steady progress (incase the business growth isn't proof enough: one in Freeport, Windham and now downtown Portland). But I do I miss the previous menu, especially the Pulled Chicken and Pear Salad. You won't usually catch me ordering a salad when I eat out but man, was that one hearty dish - bring it back! The new menu items are excellent though, and the food is still fresh, high quality and cooked well. I've noticed Buck's is moving more and more towards sourcing foods from local vendors, too, including very tasty lamb from a sheep farm in Windham, which is always appealing from a restaurant. If you just want a snack and beverage then you have to try their 'Fooze', such as a Bloody Mary with small rack of ribs on top. What a novelty, it's great! Their drinks options overall are very good and they have a great selection of rotating local beers on draught. 'Talls' are well priced and refreshingly cold, too! Check them out - it's always good here...

Beef ribs were awesome, baby back ribs were a bit overcooked, St. Louis ribs were very good, onion rings were great, and sweet potato fries were great. It's fairly pricey for barbecue, compared to some places. Atmosphere was pleasant and service was very good. Will go back.

Best happy hour in town. Awesome daily specials! Great food and drinks! Have to try the sliced brisket, it's incredible! Happy hour seven days a week starts at two. You won't be disappointed!

Went for lunch, service was good but the place was almost empty. Food came out fast and BBQ was good. Sweat potato fries were sort of black and a bit soft. Likely the oil in the fryer is old and not hot enough. Also one small pet peeve. Staff kept referring to us "you guys".

St. Louis ribs excellent, Mac and cheese adult and children's excellent, rib sauces great, children's cheeseburger excellent, fries really good. Salmon was over cooked but cheese grits and spinach good didn't see pine nuts on dish menu indicated they were part of it. Rum punch was great!

drove by past 9pm on Friday on way to Sebago Lake; we needed to eat and place looked decent (listed under a gluten-free app), deal. both hub and I weren't all that hungry; split a bbq platter that consisted of chicken, brisket, and stuff. wasn't bad, wasn't phenomenal, esp given the price. I'm no bbq connoisseur so can't say how "authentic" it was. but I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the blueberry sauce in their bbq sauce tray -- it was not too sweet, a nice addition to the otherwise mundane meat. server was friendly and efficient, place is clean impressed that they even had a couple of Asian-inspired offerings such as bahn mi, and the more Americanized coconut shrimps. curious how they'd measure up to standard.

Visiting friends in Grey and they suggested Buck's. The last time I was here this place was a bakery but the transition to BBQ place seems to have gone well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable - they are very familiar with the menu, as it should be ... All of the entrees were prepared as ordered and served quickly and hot (the Romaine Salad was cold). I had the Big Buck Combo with Mac & Cheese and Onion Rings and it was excellent. Good selection of beers augmented the BBQ. Not that the BBQ is as good as that found in TN, GA or TX but for a small town in Maine it was pretty good.

Doing some consulting work in Maine for the summer.. Had just about had my fill of the 'other two' restaurants in Windham.. and then, thankfully, found Bucks! I have to say I was very impressed. I mean.. In Windham? lol - But it seems that they've gone all-out to do this thing right. I thought the pulled pork was excellent, as was the slaw. good sized portions for the money. Service was outstanding - staff really seem to enjoy what they do. Oh.. almost forgot .. Cornbread was great.. not too salty .. not too sweet. (Since I began and paused this review I've returned one other time and tried the half chicken on the bone - Really Good!) I'll definitely be back.

The warmest thing on my plate was the coleslaw. To much fennel seed in the sausage. I will not go back!

We really liked this place. Ribs were great, corn chowder was awesome, buffalo brussel sprouts were crunchy not mushy, even the fries were good. Everything seemed homemade and very well done. With a wood smokey smell rounding out the atmosphere it was very BBQy! We will be back. Oh and the grits and coleslaw were fantastic too.

Love the Fried Dill Pickle Chips. The Burgers, brisket and steak tips are amazing. The quality of the cooking is wishy washy at best when it comes to the burgers. Sometimes it's over cooked, sometimes it's overcooked. Sometimes it's Over salted. That is annoying. The Poutine is not appetizing.

Dry, tough, lousy ribs, wings and ends... Really terrible. Bartender was overwhelmed by 5 customers. I had to wait waaay too long to get a drink and waaaay too long to order. I got my own silverware after she disappeared for another long stint. I got ranch twice instead of blue cheese that I ordered, and eventually gave up. And then with my long empty drink bottle waited waaaaaay too long to pay. I couldn't wait to leave. Eventually, I had to go get the bartender (who was talking with a table of waitresses) for all the bar customers who needed service. This place sucks by all measures.

I like buck's.. decent bbq... waitress' good friendly, but food service is slow...so if you are starved order an app. I highly reccommend the fried pickles! Key Lime pie is the very TART good kind! The drinks are amazing, the bbq sauce is good and the ambience is noisy and fun. On the bbq you get it naked (dry rub) hence the name and there are a number of sauces to choose from on the table.

We ate there this evening. Service was excellent & manager kindly addressed our problems with the food, but we were not happy campers for the most part. Husband's gumbo had the flavor of canned chili. Pork in it was good, but the dish was also greasy. This was not gumbo! If diners think it is, they have not traveled to southern states to taste the real thing. I loved the cornbread & manager gave me extra to take home when she discovered our dislike of gumbo. My steak fries were burned. As far as I know that is not the norm for same. Pulled pork sandwich was OK but not very flavorful, & we were not impressed by BBQ sauce. Again however, our server was excellent & we tipped her well. We also appreciated manager's attention. The place was also very noisy - even though the restaurant was not full at the time. Will we return? NO.

Wish I could give 3.5 stars. Its a nice restaurant and very cool setting. By the way there is outdoor seating. I got the half rack of baby back ribs and pit chicken. It was good smoked bbq and the rita's were solid. I'd go back.

What a weird dinner service. When the waiter finally came over, he got our app and drink order: waters and fried pickle chips (they are the best, not greasy at all). He came back several minutes later and sort of threw the appetizer plates down, but it looked like he tried to stop himself, so I didn't think he meant to. But then he took our dinner order, and my husband wanted the ghost pepper wings (he says he felt talked out of it) and settled for habanero. He asked if he could have one GP wing to try the heat, and the waiter said frankly, "no." He wasn't willing to check. But the answer delivery left a bad taste in our mouths. When he took my order, he called me sweetie. I laughed it off, but it's kinda awkward, ya know? I got the blueberry BBQ (didn't taste very blueberry-ey) and the Thai chili lime wings. Their wings are the best. The service, not so much. When it was time to pay, the server disappeared for a while with my debit card. I knew something was wrong, but he didn't say anything. I looked at my account this morning, and there were two different charges - one correct and one wrong. I'm hoping the wrong one doesn't actually post, as its pending, and I'd rather not have the hassle of getting it back. Fingers crossed.

Friends said they loved this place. Building is very cool but service is SLOW. Beef ribs were good, but everything else is pretty lame. Mostly dry, tough, and fairly pricey. A lot of bikers seem to hang out here. I'll be back with my bike for happy hour. See you there.

Buck's food is the BEST bbq in all the LAAANNNDD!!!!!! Seriously, I actually hated bbq food until my boyfriend dragged me here one night, and now we go back at least once a month. And whenever we have bbq anywhere else (which is next to never) I am completely disapointed! The chicken salad is incredible, and their apricot wings are insane, their specialty drinks are sick (good), and whatever the rub is that they put on the prime rib makes every other prime rib pale in comparison. Yum yum YUMMMMMMMM. Can't wait to go back!

Our meal here included some of the most disappointing barbecue I've ever had in a restaurant. If it hadn't been for the fact that some of the other things were very good, I would be giving it one star on sheer principle to protect people from BAD barbecue! First the good: huge menu with a variety of offerings and a great atmosphere. Service was good and friendly but unremarkable. For appetizers, we got fried pickles and the buffalo sausage nuggets. The fried pickles were good, but I've had better - they tasted more like fried cucumbers to me. The buffalo sausage nuggets were among the best things of the night - slices of sausage battered, fried and then tossed in their sweet & spicy buffalo sauce. If that just made you drool a little bit, then you'll love them. They have this thing called "Fooze" which is booze with food. Basically a mixed drink with some sort of barbecue in it. It is one of those ideas that sounds really good on paper. For example, the "Jah Irie" has fresh ginger beer & spiced rum served with a spicy jerk baby back rib. Sounds good, except that the rub and sauce slid off the rib and into the drink, so the whole thing tasted vaguely like meat and a lot like jerk seasoning. For the main course, I got the smoked sampler, which includes baby back ribs, smoked wings and beef ribs. The winner on the plate were the wings - nicely smoked and juicy. The beef ribs had good flavor, but weren't very tender. Then we come to the ribs. Ugh. First of all, the membrane on the underside of the ribs wasn't removed. I've eaten in enough barbecue restaurants to know that most places now take the time to remove it. The ribs were overcooked, dry and basically flavorless. Some of the worst ribs I've ever had in a restaurant. I was able to try pulled pork, chicken and brisket from other people's plates, and all of it was mediocre to bad. Dry, tough and/or flavorless across the board. Our dining companions, who took us out here, asked me how I would rate it, on a scale of 1-10. Being polite, I said a 5 or 6. She said "I would have said a 2 or 3." When I comes to barbecue, I may have higher-than-average expectations, being a judge and now BBQ competitor, but that doesn't matter - you don't need to be barbecue expert to know that this wasn't good 'que. For their sake, I hope we hit them on an off night (it was a Monday), since if this is their usual quality, I would recommend skipping the barbecue and trying something else on the menu.

Not a bad choice. The building itself is awesome! We ate dinner up in the loft area. The food was nothing special. It was good barbecue but I've had better elsewhere. The biggest downfall is the price. For the quality of the food, it is pretty overpriced.

Just okay. Not real southern BBQ. My wife and I think our negative feelings may be because we lived in SC and experience real southern BBQ. The service was okay, but the food did not tast too much like anything, certainly not like Southern BBQ. Good spot for a beer and fried pickles.

Great BBQ, my wife and I go here all the time. A little on the pricy side, but the food is really good. Great environment, never had any sort of problem with them.

Really like this place! I especially enjoy the Gumbo (I order it as a lighter entree and add a side of greens) and I also had ribs there a number of times and love those with their BBQ sauces. They also make good drinks. Both my husband and I are really glad for this addition to the local food scene. They have a sister-restaurant in Freeport.

Burnt ends and ribs are spectacular. Special sauces. Fun and relaxed.

Terrible service, waited forever to be waited upon and then we never saw the waitress again. Once we got our food it wasn't BBQ is was burnt flesh with BBQ sauce on it. Won't be rushing back anytime soon.

Brisket is more like pot roast. Chicken is dry. I really wanted to like it, but I just could not. Barbecue sauce choices are ok, but not what you are looking for when wanting quality barbecue. Giving it two stars purely on ambience and service because they are great. Go ahead and try it. Just don't get the BBQ.

I'm giving it four stars for what it is. A rib/bbq place in Windham Maine, which compared to most places around there this place is the bomb. Mostly what I liked about Buck's was the atmosphere and the inexpensive food. I brought my kids and so did my friend so it was a great place to bring them (basement has playhouse, toys, etc.) I enjoyed my Margarita and ordered a pulled pork quesadilla which was good. Salads were good too. Great price, good family fun and I can't wait to try it out with NO kids and sit in the bar area which looks fun. I was visiting Maine from Boston!!! Glad I found somewhere to go!!!

First visit here, and probably the last. Ordered the Hickory Smoked Prime Rib, medium well, with baked potato and Hush Puppies. The prime rib came still twitching, and chewy to say the least. Baked potato was undercooked, and the hush puppies where unliked what I've had down south. I did like the atmosphere. My wife ordered bbq chicken with was very tastey. No complaints with our service.

I would just say this place was O.K. Would I come here again...probably not. I came here for lunch on a Saturday and there were 5 customers including myself. FIVE! I ordered the Cuban thinking it would be pretty safe along with the steak fries and an extra side of beans. Let me say that I'm from Kansas City so I might be biased, but I've traveled quite a bit... I'm glad I stuck with the Cuban and not let them touch BBQ with their sauce. The steak fries, which were home cut wedges were really good, the beans tasted like Bush's out of the can and the Cuban was watery. They must leave their pulled pork in water because this lacked any smoke or flavor and when I took a bite it drained a couple of Tablespoons of water pet half. I thought I'd try the sauce on my fries. Us KC people are ALL about our sauce!! Yuck! The first thing you can smell with all but the Carolina is Chili powder, and then you can see and taste the grittiness of it. If this is BBQ up here I'm done trying. Oh P.S. I went to the one in Freeport, ME with my hisband and it was just as bad....

This is a nice addition to Windham, where the restaurant selection has always been pretty poor. It's in a bit of a strange spot, but it's a nice change of pace from everything else. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, and it was pretty good--not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst.

I have been to Buck's several times over the years. Although the food is good Bucks is going downhill. Service is on the wrong side of good. Prices are high for what you get. No more extra plate for bones. Waitress never came back to check on the table. Table was sticky. What bothered me most was there were fly's everywhere. You could hardly take a bite without swatting a fly. Fly's were landing on our food and table. Everyone in my group was swatting so much it looked like we were dancing while trying to eat. I am not going back.

  • Trish M.

By far one of the worst over-priced meals I've had in a long time. The ribs were cold and raw....the sweet potato fries were soggy and the prime rib was overcooked all for the bargain price of $125...what a rip off...i will never go back or recommend this place to anyone else!

Food was good. Service was luke-warm, prices too high for lunch.

Wings with house bbq were great, rib sampler was good, pulled chicken taco delicious, chilli was okay (has oregano but meat is good), sweet and spicy shrimp really good (spicy though). Rum punch delicious! They serve their Bloody Mary with a rib! Awesome! Great service and cool atmosphere.

  • Joshua T.

Service was good food just ok! I thought for the price that it was pricey!
