My husband, sister, her boyfriend and my friend all stopped here for our last meal before we headed south. What follows is in no way hyperbolic: This was HANDS DOWN, the BEST BREAKFAST ANY of us have EVER had. EVER!!!!! The potatoes? Divine. The drinks? Perfectly blended. The jam? HEAVENLY!!! This is the perfect spot! Go!!!!!!

The ultimate place for breakfast in this area. Absolutely no other place compares in terms of taste, quality, service, and gorgeous setting. Grilled crab meat benedict was my choice, and it was divine.

Come to Merriland Farms early in the morning and hungry. It is hidden in the backcountry about a mile from The Maine Diner. Trust me skip the maine diner and come here. Not even sure if I want people to start going since they don't take reservations it can be hard to get a table. Menu is about 4 pages long ranging from tea breads to Lobster Eggs Benedict and all decently priced. Most recent time I visited got Eggs Benedict and Sweet Potato Chips ($9). One thing that could be improved is their coffee, just sub par. But this is an easy thing to overlook when the food is this good.

I thought the food was mediocre and the setting spectacular. Honestly we both had meals that did not wow us and this included a burger with cheese on it. Maybe they are better known for Breakfast but we were not impressed. The inside of the home is very charming and for that I have to give an extra star.

This is a great place to go to for breakfast when you are in or nearby to Kennebunkport. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this little gem via yelp reviews. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was that the service was a little slow for a not terribly busy mid week breakfast. The portions are well sized, I would recommend getting two sides of bacon as they only have 3 pieces.

Visited Merriland Farm Café for the first time this past weekend and I am a fan! A delicious gourmet breakfast, in a rustic setting, about a mile from scenic Route 1. My dining partners enjoyed their meals and the tea bread we started with was absolutely amazing. Welcoming staff, cozy gas fireplace, and intimate seating makes this a treasure. I'll be returning!

I sort of want to give this place bad reviews just so it doesn't get super crowded here because I want to keep it to myself. Hhaha Anyway, came back for lunch because the atmosphere is just so inviting. Got a crab BLT and they had this AMAZING roasted tomato (and I think red pepper soup). It was DELICIOUS. I never rave about soup, I mean its soup. but no, it was tomatoey, a little chunky, hearty and just oh so yummy. I want it so bad. Oh and the sandwich was pretty good. Lots of crab, I found it just a TAD fishy/oceany but me like and the portions were LARGE for it being a half sandwich/half soup type deal. And your cottage fries are still stellarrrrrr Merriland Farm, you have found a fan. Next, I need to come back for dinner. Oh and our waitress was the same lady from breakfast, very nice, patient and did not mind that my friend and I sat awhile and chatted after paying the bill.

Very pretty location and the pie is wonderful. They also have entrees, but who am i kidding?

This place is awesome..we come every time were in town..makes the Maine Diner look sad!!! Everything is good...try it all!!
(5)Monica L.
Surly waitress. Note to restaurant: if you don't have a waitress who can be pleasant to a large party, don't take a reservation for a large party. Some of the food was good, some of it was not.

We came for breakfast around 11:30 and were seated outside within several minutes. We waited almost 30 minutes while several waitresses bustled around at nearby tables, but no one came by to greet us, offer us coffee, or take our orders. Finally one woman asked us if anyone had helped us yet. When we said no, another waitress came right out to help us and apologized, saying that the hostess had forgotten to assign our table. 20 minutes later our food was on the table, but we noticed our eggs were extremely overcooked (we both ordered eggs bene that should have had runny eggs). The table next to us had the same complaint with their eggs... We were there for an hour and half between being seated and getting our check. We've enjoyed our meals here in the past, although each item we've ordered has come out a little bland.

Wow this place was amazing! We had come to Wells Beach for a weekend vacation and happened to drive by this place. It's beautiful, very idyllic with a pretty outdoor seating area, and brunch was delicious! (I had eggs benedict, my husband had the hash). It felt like a really special place, much more so than others in the area, but the only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is because the service was just ok, long waits, lots of anxiety, etc...
(4)Sonya C.
I started with Saturday breakfast. The food was fresh and service was wonderful. They have a great menu including berry crepes, hazelnut coffee and homemade lemonade. It was SO good, I returned for lunch the next day and had their amazing Island Cobb salad with raspberry iced tea. Again, excellent service! The outdoor patio is beautiful and relaxing with lots of shade. I'm planning my next visit...but do note they only serve dinners on Friday and Saturdays.

Just about to leave Maine and wanted to eat breakfast It was GREAT ! I had the Denver my daughter the strawberry crepe Cheap as well!
(4)Kaitlin B.
A friend brought me here for a birthday lunch as she lives in York and we had plans in Kennebunk afterwards. Place is adorable, looks like a home ! Pergola out back, seating inside or outside, mini bar area; and staff makes you feel like family. They serve breakfast and lunch, and have quite the selection. They have these appetizing crepe sandwich wraps, for a great price ! My friend got the scallop crepe and I got the sausage, onions, and pepper crepe; comes with side salad or soup, and a popover. It was delicious ! I cannot wait to go back and try some of the others !!
(5)Christy J.
Absolutely a darling and quaint place to eat, especially if you can get seated outside. This is our second time within a week eating here. Our first experience was a bit better than the second. Our waitress was incredibly slow and overwhelmed. In fact, my husband's still sitting in there waiting to pay the bill. We saw her one time during our meal. I didn't find the food incredibly special. The portion seem fairly large. The blueberry French toast is highly recommended as well as their wine bloody Mary mix. Hopefully I will see my husband before the morning ends. Take care and enjoy your meal.

Just left this "farm" restaurant a few minutes ago and I'm not really sure if all these five star reviewers have been eating prison food for the past six months or what the deal is. My husband and I picked this place as it is advertised as a farm cafe so we figured we would be dining on fresh food. This could not be further from the truth. I ordered the veggie omelette and the housemade corned beef hash. My goodness where to start. The omelette came with two slices of tomatoes on top, two white mealy slices. White tomatoes in August! I'm sorry those poor tomatoes had to leave their cellophane packaged home to sit on top of the most bland omelette ever made. The omelette and sautéed veggies had absolutely NO FLAVOR, pretty sure the eggs were from an egg mix and not fresh. I also asked for no mushrooms because of an allergy and guess what? Yup mushrooms, just a few little ones but still. The potatoes-really? Frozen potato like food substance is more like it. You probably got better quality from your fifth grade school lunch. The sweet potatoes my husband had were definitely also frozen waffle cut fries. The corn beef hash was also a let down made with pre-cut frozen potatoes and some mediocre tasting corned beef. Seriously invest in some Flavor God spices or at least break out the salt shaker once in a while! When the waitress asked if we wanted our leftovers boxed I kind of let it flow. Her response, "well we are really a farm of berries." Okay then WHY ARE YOU SERVING PACKAGED SMUCKERS HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP JELLY instead of farm fresh homemade jams with your pancakes and toast?! Seriously don't waste your money, we spent $40 on frozen, not fresh, very bland "food" from a "farm" cafe that is anything but.

Warm, inviting, you know you have arrived somewhere special as soon as you walk in. Wonderful staff, delicious food, great atmosphere. A delightful 'find' on a long road trip.

We were headed to Freeport from Boston and found this place on Yelp. We were so glad we did. We were the first to arrive for breakfast on a weekday. Everything was wonderful. Breakfast club sandwich was huge and delicious. Muffins are large and tasty. Have them grilled. Fluffy pancakes, potatoes and coffee, all great. Beautiful country setting.
(5)Jen P.
Stopped here for breakfast with my boyfriend while in Wells for the day. I ordered the white cheddar crab eggs benedict over a popover. The popover was loaded with crabmeat. The breakfast was huge and came with potatoes and toast. My boyfriend ordered a muffin ( homemade and scrumptious) and the porky pig breakfast sandwich which he described as delicious. I wish they gave you their own house made jam with the toast. They sell it at the front and it'd be a nice way for guests to try it and then buy it. The service was ok. We had to hunt our waitress down for the check and even then asked a fellow waitress for the check and for change. Service could be better. Wonderful food and off the beaten path...would def go again.
(4)Eric C.
A beautiful restaurant with great service, but only a so-so breakfast. Brick and hardwood floors make for a great casual cafe ambiance. The setting is bright and warm, and very clean. The waitstaff were very friendly, and on the ball with drink refills and checking up on us. I had the Bacon Flannel Omelet (bacon, provolone, corned beef hash), cottage fries, and raspberry crepe. My wife had the Sausage Confetti Omelet (sausage, peppers, onions). Everything was cooked well; just the right temperature and consistency. But everything was so bland that it was just boring. My omelet didn't really taste like anything, and was begging for some seasoning or hot sauce. Punch up the flavor a bit, and this could be a truly great restaurant.
(3)Randy C.
Had a friend recommend this location. Family was from Wells. He was right on the money. I had a corned beef hash omelet with bacon and the cottage fries. They were excellent one of the best breakfasts I've had the waitperson was good and attentive. The atmosphere was also nice. They have a nice patio to dine also. Def will return. The coffee was just ok though that was the only disappointment. Was not bad but not up to the caliber of the food
(4)Davie B.
Simple review- they make their own jams and jellies but serve smuckers strawberry jam out of those little plastic containers you find at diners and Denny's. Breakfast was ok, they overwhelm with portion size for sure. Eggs Benedict on a surprisingly bland and salt-less homemade popover. Big doughy Belgian waffle, but I'm a lite and crispy fan. Pancakes with blueberries looked great, maybe I missed out....
(3)Lynn A.
After discovering this restaurant on Yelp, we decide to have breakfast here last Saturday. We were not disappointed in the least. The atmosphere was warm, the wait staff very friendly, and the food, delicious. My husband had the berry French toast and remarked more than once that it was the best he has ever had. My omelet was fluffy and the cottage fries, tasty. As a matter of fact, we liked it so much, that on our way out of town the very next day, we stopped in for breakfast again! Great place!!!

Had breakfast on our recent trip to Maine. After a walk through the Rachel Carlson Wildlife preserve we decided to see if we could find this place. We had tried the morning before but could not find it.........the signage is not very noticeable and it is set back off the road and covered in front by foliage. Looked like a private residence (We almost missed it again) Once we found it and parked we found it difficult to find the entrance to the restaurant.......it was not marked very well (not at all that we noticed). We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady upon entering. Se set us by a roaring fireplace, which felt good on the chilly morning. My husband ordered Belgium waffles....which were very good. I ordered french toast. When it arrived it had 4 slices with confectioners sugar which were cooked to perfection. I also ordered a side of bacon requesting it not be limp, when it arrive it was crispy and done just like I asked. It was Thursday morning around 8:30 and the waitress seemed to be the only one on. She was pleasant, great bring food when it was hot and paying attention to all tables......great service. A little pricey...but worth it!

I really do wish there was a way to award this place more than 5 stars. It is in a pretty country location that is off the beaten track but well worth finding. Charming doesn't begin to describe how pretty this place is. Service and food were both simply superb. There is nothing much more I can say about this place other than "sheer perfection." We will definitely be coming back to this place more than once.
(5)Illuminata D.
This place is BEST breakfast place. We come here every year and every year always have a smile on face. Highly recommend and the waffles and pancakes yummmmmy
(5)Jo-Ellen A.
This is a hidden gem in wells maine. Off the main road of us 1 tucked in par 3 golf course. Small intimate place away from all the summer tourist traps. Fabulous menu!! We love the crab stuffed mushrooms and bacon wrapped scallops for starters. Homemade biscuits are served warm and are light and fluffy. Cheese roasted haddock is delicious. Be careful portions are large. They are only open for dinner Friday and Saturday night. Be sure to make reservations!!!!
(5)Emily M.
Thank you yelp for helping us find this place. We stopped here on our way home from Sunday RIver. I was so excited when it appeared in the middle of nowhere. The scene was so beautiful. A little country house serving delicious new england food. I wish I could have moved in. I had a fried cod sandwich, Julian M. had a cajun fish sandwich. Everything was delish, and the menu was amazing. I wanted everything. Such amazing, local fare served with a smile. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely stop here again.
(5)Marie B.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Lovely staff and excellent food. Get off the main road and discover what the locals love.
(5)Chris O.
Wonderful food, the way we like it, light, fresh, full of flavor. Service was excellent, charming farmhouse location, but upscale, ti's not a barn. One of our favorite places we've tried in New England, wish it wasn't an hour+ from home.
(5)Miles W.
Our breakfast was delicious and I quite enjoyed the outdoor seating and beautiful surroundings. I would have given five stars but our waitress was not personable at all and seemed to be in a bad mood. The final straw was when she slammed a to-go box on our table and walked away without saying a word. If ever there were a time to "turn it on" and be friendly it would be just before your guests are leaving (and deciding how much they should tip you!) Hopefully she was just having a bad day but I was very disappointed with her service.
(3)Megan D.
Quite literally the best breakfast spot ever. Love this place. The service, the view, the food, the drinks...everything! I've gone for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I have ZERO complaints!
(5)Heather L.
A friend and I went here on a whim based off of Yelp reviews and we were so happy we made the trip! We got there around 10:30 and were seated for breakfast by 11. It's worth mentioning that they were down a waitress (called out at the last minute) so they weren't seating outside. We thought the 30 minute wait for breakfast on a Sunday was actually reasonable, but then when we heard they were understaffed getting seated in 30 minutes was impressive! The hostess was clearly running her butt off; having to take names, seat people, deliver food, AND bus tables. Some of the people that showed up were actually quite rude to her in regards to the wait, but I feel she handled it pretty well. Very professional. Once we were seated, it took all of maybe 2 minutes for our waitress, Emily, to come over and ask for our drink order. And given that it was 11am and she had been running around like crazy for at least 3 hours straight while they were down another waitress, I was surprised to see that she still looked as if she just started her shift! Very nice and pleasant, and smiled the whole time! She did not look overwhelmed or rushed at all. She was great! We let the hostess know that on our way out :) I ordered the smoked turkey and asparagus egg white omelet with sweet potato cottage fries which came with grilled onions on top. The food was AMAZING and came out super quick. Very fresh and made to order. I also got a mimosa and it was probably the biggest mimosa I've ever had while out at a restaurant. Came with raspberries which I thought was a nice touch, tasty too. My friend got the Bacon Flannel Omelet which was made with their homemade angus corned beef hash and swiss cheese. Let me tell you....this corned beef hash was the best I have EVER had. I can't even put into words how amazing it was. I'm pretty sure they used thyme to season it as well, which I thought made for a very interesting flavor profile. Next time, I'll be getting a side of that hash! Overall my friend and I not only enjoyed our food but also enjoyed the overall experience (ambiance, setting, waitstaff). Even being down one waitress this place managed to completely wow us and deserves the 5 star rating! Well worth the wait (which really wasn't that long). We will definitely be back again :)
(5)Dana H.
super yummy! and very friendly!! they had so many things to choose from I almost couldn't decide! we ARE def. going back =)
(4)Olga T.
O.M.G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS PLACE HAD THE BEST BREAKFAST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We seriously had one of the most memorable breakfast experiences out of all our travels. Order the poached egg with holondaise sauce over lobster meat !!! ANDDDDD get ready for your taste buds to explode over the blueberry french toast! Seriously orgasmic experience. Service is super sweet and accommodating. I'm SO happy I discovered this little treasure. PURE HEAVEN!!!
(5)Karen S.
We've eaten here before and enjoyed our breakfast here so much that we went out of our way to stop here again on our last visit to Maine. The omelets are fantastic and huge, so make sure to bring your appetite. We ate on the patio overlooking the golf course. It was a great start to the day. We would definitely eat here again if in the area. It may cost you a few more dollars here than some other places, but it is worth it.
(5)C B.
Stopped in here on our way out of New Hampshire headed toward the New England coast. We arrived around 10:00 to find that it was still relatively quiet and only had to wait a few minutes while our table on the patio was cleared. The menu offered plenty of variety including breakfast classics (e.g., eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes, omelets) as well as regional variation on classics. I ordered the sautéed vegetable omelet with three medley potatoes and washed it down with a blueberry mimosa. The omelet was decent. I liked that it was stuffed full of yummy veggies and was not even the slightest bit greasy. However, the veggies were a little too well cooked for my liking - I prefer sautéed veggies to have a little crunch. A little cheese and fresh herbs would have made this omelet even better! The roasted three potato medley was good but so were the home fries. Not sure you can go wrong either way. Unfortunately, the Blueberry mimosa was all but flavorless :-/ The serving staff were friendly and the ambiance was nothing short of perfect. All in all though definitely give this place a try if you're in the area :)
(3)Gregory O.
This is a fantastic place! A creative menu offers far more than a diner breakfast. Fresh made baked goods, and well prepared omelets made for a perfect breakfast. Super friendly staff, this is a "must go" place.
(5)Leo M.
Great breakfast this morning (7/14/2013), had the French toast with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and whip cream. Only thing I did not enjoy was the coffee. Please get some decent coffee (Green Mountain) would be a big improvement.
(4)Chris B.
incredible service and amazing food. Our entire family enjoyed a wonderful breakfast this week.
(5)Christie L.
A hidden gem. We have been vacationing in Maine for over 30 years and just discovered this gem. I would not recommend with small children as it appears to be a bit more for a quiet evening with adults. A little out of the way but well worth the trip.
(5)Ben O.
I've been here for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner and each meal is awesome. This used to be a hidden gem, but has gained popularity. Their food is always great and worth the wait.
(5)Seth R.
This review is for the golf course - not the restaurant. My partner and I played here on a vacation in Wells. I'm a beginner golfer and felt very comfortable on this par 3 course. It was fun, yet challenging. We went on consecutive days in the early afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all, even for the weekend. I did not feel rushed with the pace of play. I also only needed my putter, a wedge, and an iron (again, I'm a beginner). The course is in a wooded area and the bugs can be nasty - just a warning. I eventually put on sunscreen and the bugs stopped bothering me. The grounds are pretty darn nice though. Merriland is just the second course I've played on and I was impressed with how much nicer it was than my first experience. There's also a big patch of blueberry bushes around the fourth and fifth holes. Stuff your face! The staff said to just grab some, even though they do sell them at the front desk. Needless to say, I grabbed as many as I could without overstaying my welcome. If I return to the area again, I'll definitely have this course in mind.
(5)Kit G.
The best brunch I have ever had. I am from Kennebunk originally and I always insist on going to Merriland when I am in town. I love everything about the restaurant, the food, the staff, and the beautiful scenery. It is one of the most peaceful places to start your day. My family always starts our meal with sharing a couple muffins because they are the best muffins in the world. My boyfriend is still raving about the blueberry muffin. I usually order the eggs benedict which is excellent. In the past we have tried the peach french toast and it was exceptional. One of the things that makes the food so good is that they use fresh fruit and you can really taste the difference. I would strongly recommend going to Merriland because the combination of the delicious food and the amazing golf course setting should not be missed.
(5)Denise P.
Fantastic breakfast! Also had New Year's eve dinner. Fresh food done very well. Can't wait for summer - outdoor seating. Yum!
(5)Jenn B.
Went for dinner after reading reviews. Wish I had not! I suspect the owner and friends are writing these reviews, as the food we ate could not possibly be from the same place! Stale brown n serve rolls, dry chicken, frozen shrimp, frozen veg - freezer burned broccoli stems, anyone? I have had better boxed dinners! Stay away!
(1)Brian T.
If you are in the Ogunquit/Wells area do not (I repeat) DO NOT miss your chance to have breakfast at this great restaurant! Food Great, service friendly, atmosphere cozy. We were there on a sat. morning around 10am and had the place all to ourselves. As we drove back to our room, I saw long lines for at least three breakfast places on the beaten path and had a private little snicker. Can't wait to go back.
(5)Cathy K.
This is off the beaten path but worth looking for. Thanks to those Yelpers who recommended this spot. We arrived for bunch on Sunday and had a wait of over 30 minute and I can say it was so worth the wait. The omelets are huge and if you like corn beef hash this is a must have here. The blueberry and raspberry tea cake melted in your mouth. It was great to know that they used locally grown foods. I will return again when I am back in the area.
(5)Barbara E.
Sneak away from the standard fare of Route 1 in Wells for some truly great food. Lots of freshly grown berry and veggie choices. Friendly, attentive service. Charming atmosphere in a delightful setting. Make sure to sit outside on the patio on a warm day. Don't forget to purchase an unbaked frozen berry pie, or two, to bake at home!
(4)eric b.
My wife, 6 year old son and I stopped in at 8am on a cold, wet early summer morning. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had stumbled upon a place that would earn a spot on our list of favorite breakfast restaurants. The dining area was impeccably clean, the decor was homey and the waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The best part of the experience was however the food. I had the Garden Vegetable omelette (loaded with veggies) and the home fry medley (more potatoes than one person could eat). Both were scrumptious. My wife had a sausage and veggie omelette and the medley. She too enjoyed the meal and found it to be more food than she could eat. Finally, our son had the pancakes, covered in what appeared to be a combination of fresh and fresh frozen blueberries. He told us on the way out that he would like to eat there again sometime. He's a hard one to please so that said a great deal. Our breakfast experience At Merriland Farms managed to soften the effects of an otherwise mood-dampening day. We will certainly be returning again in the future.
(5)Scott M.
I was intrigued by this place from the get go, seeing as it's tucked away in the middle of the woods, and about a mile away from the Route 1 craziness. Plus the ratings and reviews looked well worth a try. Further investigation had a mention of some involvement with the Food Network. Seeing as we were denied for dinner we made our return attempt for breakfast and boy was it worth it. I got the Eggs Ranchero: poached eggs with sausage, peppers, onions, tomatoes, cheese sauce and sour cream, with a side of toast and potatoes that resembled thin potato wedges that looked like potato chips. Classy and amazing in every way.
(5)Beth B.
Service was slow - waited long time for just a kick off of coffee. Berry pancakes and French toast were a hit but omelets not so much. They don't fold the eggs over the filling. Instead eggs were laid over top of filling. This left the guts not cooked - raw spinach and unmelted feta. Eh, I've had much better.
(3)Tom K.
Friendly, excellent service and food offered in patio seating. Beautiful and relaxed atmosphere surrounded by trees. We wrote this review while still at the restaurant very pleased with the luncheon experience. We plan to return for dinner and have reviewed their diverse menu.
(5)Monty B.
This little cafe off the beaten path was very charming. They grow their own berries and use them in their pastries. They usually let visitors pick the berries, but there was too much rain this year, so they had to use all they had on their own food. The place is laid-back and relaxing. The girl that waited on us was very sweet and friendly. We had the sausage crepe, which was delicious. The sausage was pleasantly not overly salty. The sun-dried tomato and basil dressing for the salad was very nice. The blueberry-raspberry pie was warm and tasty. Take some muffins to go. We got one of the raspberry white chocolate (my favorite of the two) and one of the blueberry streusel. They give them to you frozen when you take them to go. Just let it sit out a bit to defrost. They taste quite nice when they're still a little cold.
