I recently attended dinner here with a large-ish group (there were 6 of us) on a Sunday evening and we were seated with no problem. I ordered the glass soup, which was good, but not memorable. When chopsticks were requested, plastic chopsticks were handed to us by the waiter with his bare hands which kind of bothered me, and food wasn't served at the same time, leaving one person sitting with no food. I'll probably go back if I'm with the same group of people, but I prefer Asian Cafe.

Very disappointing. I had a chicken Pad Thai with noodles that were swimming in sauce, and very little chicken (that tasted like soggy styrophoam). Will never go back. If you want good Thai see my other review.

Pad Thai Too has extremely fresh and vibrant dishes that are presented beautifully. I'm never disappointed no matter what I order but confess that I keep going back to the chicken pad Thai because it's far and away the best pad Thai I've ever had. Favorite appetizers are the golden triangles and dumplings. Unfortunately they don't have a good Tom Kha and that's a big disappointment. Staff are welcoming and attentive. It can get busy and loud.

I had the pad Thai with tofu when I visited. It was really tasty. I was travelling through town, so my review is just based on this one experience/dish.

WOW! Driving from western Maine to most eastern point in Lubec, we had to stop midway for something to eat. We totally rely on Yelp for our food choices when traveling and we saw the ONE and only review from Joolsey for Pad Thai Too in Waterville! I would have NEVER gone here without her review. It doesn't have much of an apperance on the outside and the inside hasn't been renovated in some time. It looks nothing like a place you would want to eat at. THE FOOD WAS FABULOUS! Took her word for it and ordered the Crispy Pad Thai! I'm ruined! Nobody in Miami, FL makes pad thai like that! We also ate the Fresh Thai Rolls. Excellent restaurant. Make sure you stop here if you are ever near Waterville!

This is one of the best if not the best Thai meals that I have ever had. I live in Boston and this restaurant is better than any Thai restaurant that I have eaten at there. The only comparable Thai restaurant that I have enjoyed as well is cholada in malibu ca. I ate at pad thai too last night for the first time while visiting my son at colby college. The place was not fancy and the waiters were just wearing street clothes so I didn't expect much. When our appetizer order arrived - chicken dumplings - I thought these look homemade - and they were. Fresh and delicious. My main course panang curry was perfectly balanced in flavor - light with fresh veggies - not thick, creamy and gloppy as curries sometimes can be. One of the waiters told me that his parents owned the restaurant and that they grew their own veggies during the summer. Obviously everything there was cooked to order with care and attention, and was fresh. I can't wait to go back!

It just gets better and better here. Classic Thai is wonderful, and so spicy if you ask for more than 3-4 star. Their use of lobster, scallops or haddock when each is in season and locally make their specials among the best meals in Waterville. The haddock last couple nights was wonderful and the duck always perfect. Service had actually got better in last year, so I have to say 5-stars last few dinners here.

Excellent fresh food. I wish I could say I've tried a lot of items but as I crave the beef salad From here I have to have it every time...it is so delicous...the steak charred and juicy, the salad crunchy and the dressing is so bright and tart and fresh...the sort of food you dream about. Other friends have eaten other dishes and raved about them too...so its all good! ...Its everyones first choice of where to eat in Waterville. Atmosphere/decor is a bit lacking and they close at 8pm on the dot which is sad....

Great food. Atmosphere is lacking but it's close to best cooking with fresh ingredients you will get in Waterville

Go there for the food. We were traveling through and saw only local plates....always a good sign. The food is very tasty and was worth the wait.

After reading reviews for Pad Thai Too, I decided to get lunch there today while working in Waterville. I was quite disappointed. I went with what I thought would be safe at an unknown eatery, and since this place is named after a specific dish, I thought they would have good Pad Thai, but instead it was bland, dry and the portion was quite small for the $9+ price. The chicken in the dish tasted fresh, and the food was freshly cooked and hot but those were the only redeeming qualities. I've never had pad Thai without any semblance of sauce or flavor before. The dish consisted of dry rice noodles and chicken with some peanuts sprinkled on top. I dug down to the bottom of the dish in hopes of finding some flavor there but there was none. Not a place I will try again.

I went back again recently but was pretty disappointed with the meal. I ordered a lunch special: green curry w/ tofu and a side of soup. Price-wise, the lunch special is a pretty decent value. However, the flavors were really lacking. The tofu itself was as good as I remembered (very good!), but the curry itself was flavorless; it was extremely watery and lacked even a hint of herb or spice. I'll probably give them another try if someone suggests it for a lunch or dinner meet-up, but I don't see myself coming back here on my own.

We lived in the area for about a year or so before we tried this place. Having traveled around Thailand a few years back, I became spoiled and particular about my Thai food. I've tried different restaurants throughout New England and been fairly disappointed each time so I wasn't expecting much in Waterville, Maine. And walking in I figured I was in for another drab experience. But, man, the looks of this place are deceiving! Everything is made fresh and cooked as you order it, not just reheated, which likely is the reason for the complaints about how long it takes the food to come out. I'll sacrifice the few extra minutes for food freshly prepared. My wife, kids and I always get something different and have never been disappointed. And the interesting beer selection certainly doesn't hurt!

Four of us had dinner here on a Sunday evening after a movie at Railroad Square. Hadn't been to Pad Thai Too for a number of years, and we were impressed with how much better it is. The menu is extensive and everything we had was really tasty -- hot and sour soup, lemongrass soup, chrispy pad thai, tom yam yai noodle bowl, bankok special stir fry, and koh samuifried rice. Portions were a good size and the prices reasonable. We will be back.
(5)Mark H.
Fantastic food. The low star count comes from smaller portions relative to the price. In house service is average at best. Be prepared to wait for your food. If you think take out will help with the time factor, think again. Many Times when we have tried to call for a take out we are told 60-90 minutes. Crazy... It's not worth it.

Standard kitschy decor to spice up a standard restaurant. We ordered the pad thai which, although a specialty, seemed weak - little taste and a very thin sauce. Service was decent.

Looked for close place to eat while in Waterville and found gem on Yelp. Wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. Very good and better than some Thai food I've had in NY.

Yes this is Thai, indeed the staff and service is acceptable, and given it's location it's a really amazing option if needing food while on the road. Would I go here otherwise? No.

Delicious Thai. I had dinner here a few years ago while visiting my son who was attending Colby. Enjoyed it then so when we returned to move him back home after graduation, we had dinner here. My son would eat here almost weekly. I live in Seattle so eating Thai is a weekly thing for me too. Dinner last night was fantastic. Had the fried tofu as an app. Golden curry for dinner and the rest of the group had noodle dishes. Everyone was pleased. If you like Thai & in the area, enjoy a meal at Phad Thai Too!

I got take-out tonight with my family and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The food had great flavors and it delivered on spice, like we wanted. We ordered the Lemongrass Soup, Panang Curry, House Pad Thai, and Drunken Noodles. None of them were the best I've ever had, but were all quite good. In Waterville, that gets five stars. *Take-out took about an hour, so plan ahead if you are ordering take-out.* My parents moved to Waterville about a year ago and they hadn't tried Pad Thai Too. They had heard some mixed things from friends but based on the Yelp reviews, I was able to convince them to try a new place. They are glad they did. They had tried the other place in town and were very disappointed. They expected it to be what they call "Maine spice"--AKA mild-- so I ordered 4-stars on spice, it was i bit too hot for my mother. It was still a bit less than I would have liked, but I am freaky with spicy foods. Getting 3-stars may be best if you like a medium-to-hot spice level. Everything we had was vegan. They don't even use fish sauce at all in the restaurant! WIN! Their menu even mentions accommodating vegetarians and vegans on it. They were happy to leave the egg out of the noodle dishes. I haven't seen that anywhere else in Waterville (though my scope is limited). The only two things I would change are; 1) adding a bit more veggies to the dishes. They were more scant than I am accustomed to. Also, when I have to choose between veggies and tofu in dishes, I always choose tofu so I missed the basic veggies. 2) On the menu, they state that ordering more than 5-stars will cost $.10 per star, which seems silly. Overall, when I want to go out to eat in Waterville, this will be my choice. Its vegan friendly and everyone will be happy. It's also the best Thai food you will find in this part of the world. FYI on the Drunken Noodle: it is made with skinny rice noodles rather than the the wide noodles I am used to in this dish. It was still good, it is just texture of rice noodle, but it is a different texture than you may be used to.

Decent food. Poor service. Server was more interested in talking to her friends behind the bar and being on her phone. Only time she came to the table was to drop something off.

This was the best Thai food I ever had. It is soo good, and one of the things I missed most when I left Colby. Living in California, I would think that I would have found a comparable Thai place by now, but nope hasn't happened. I'm still thinking about Pad Thai in Waterville after all these years. Nothing I miss more than ordering from Pad Thai with a bunch of friends on a cold snowy night and waiting over an hour for it to come since everyone else seemed to have the same idea. Or memories when the delivery guys mom wouldn't let him drive out in the snow. The cabs we took to get the food, trying to dig cars out of snow in our determination to get our Pad Thai. As for the food itself, the chicken red curry was soo good, not as creamy as a lot of other red curries, which I like. And the people here were always very accommodating when I asked for no peas. The Duck Ped Choo Chee, omg it was so amazing, the crispy fried skin of the duck and the perfectly flavorful curry. The pad thai here was also excellent. Spicy is very spicy here, I remember they had a star system, I usually got the two or three stars. Four stars would hurt for me to eat. The prices for this place was also excellent. I miss eating here so much, there was a point where me and my roommates were ordering from here once a week. Those were good times.

Hands down the best and most authentic Thai food that I've had outside of Southeast Asia! I've scourged many Thai places in Boston in search for the best green curry, only to find it in the boonies of central Maine. It's definitely one of the many perks of the three-hour drive to the boyfriend-in-laws' place. Be careful of the spiciness levels though -- I'm well accustomed to spicy foodstuffs but the green curry here makes me break a sweat. The curry is so epic and my visits to Maine are so infrequent that I dare not venture wasting a precious visit to try out whole new dishes. However, from picking (read: stealing) at other people's plates, the crispy pad thai and fresh rolls are quite delicious. Their cautious, adorable FYI/side note in their menu on how crispy pad thai is not an authentic Thai dish, but is included in their menu due to customer demand, is endearing.

I guess that I should be grateful that there is any Thai food in Maine, at all. The space is generic. Our waitress announced that she had just started on the job. I believed her. She was earnest, but disorganized to negligent. The most interesting part of the meal was the Hitachino Nest Beer. The white ale was light and a bit sweet. I followed it up with a bottle of Sam Adams. The fresh roll appetizers were, in the words of one diner, " a salad alternative." They were vegetables and tofu in light wrappers. The entrees were almost, but not quite, properly executed. The Yum Nuur, masaman chicken and pad Thai weren't quite prepared or spiced the same as other Thai restaurants that I have visited over the years. I guess one can allow a bit of license for the palate of an individual chef, but I just wasn't feeling the love. I would only eat here again if I were desperate for a change of pace.

Delicious, made to order Thai food. It takes a long time to get to your table, especially when they're really busy, but it is so worth the wait. Great wait staff, fantastic food... you really can't do much better.
