Hey! I thought this place was actually pretty good! We had a great waitress who was very friendly. I had yummy eggs in a basket! (That's eggs over medium in toast..the middle of the toast is cut out!) I did get sausage with mine..I definitely don't like the sausage they have. Not my favorite. I should have ordered bacon! But, needless to say..everything else was YUMMY! My husband had pancakes, bacon and eggs over easy and he loved all of it. We'll definitely go back for sure! The store also has a bunch of clearance racks and they had these amazing Halloween costumes for $5.00! They were over 50.00!

I took out dinner yesterday night and although the food was actually quite tasty, the service was terrible. I walked in and was told a server needed to take my order (why) as opposed to the host or a manager. I waited for 10 minutes for my order to be taken. I finally placed the order and it took almost 30 minutes for the meal to be ready. I asked several employees where my meal was and they would say they would check but never get back to me (this includes the manager as well). I drove, literally, 1-2 min back to the hotel and the food was almost ice cold. I am sure it was sitting around somewhere before being packed. I will admit, even cold, the food was still good (almost like a high end type frozen dinner) especially for the price (about $11 for one entree with 3 sides and 2 biscuits). Seriously you get what you pay for. That being said, I would go back again but remind the server that you will leave (I swear I will next time) if they are not TIMELY bringing you a HOT meal. PS The side of dumplings was addictive as was the biscuit. I think those are the 2 reasons I would go back :)

I really want to like Cracker Barrel, lord knows I've given them more than a few chances. I went there most recently for my sister's bday for brunch. I feel like I always get the third degree when I try to get the breakfast sandwich on something other than bread (an English muffin perhaps) with cheese & no tomato & topping. I have been to many different Cracker Barrel's over the years. Most of the time we eat in and have great service. Tonight the weather was crappy, so we decided to do takeout. First we waited 10 minutes for someone to take our order, then he kept telling us they were out of this or that. Rick and I both wanted mash potato's and was told to pick something else, I chose dumpling and Rick picked Apple slice. I was so in the mood for those dumplings after waiting 30 minutes for them. I open my dinner and no dumplings. Rick got no Apple slices, we both got mash pototo's. They screwed up or bread order too. Don't get me wrong the food was good, but it would have been better if it had been hot.

Overall I was impressed! I had avoided Cracker Barrel's like the plague after a bad experience at one somewhere between Georgia and Florida. My 11 year old really wanted to eat here though and since we were staying right next door at the Doubletree. The biscuits were exceptionally delicious! I didn't care for the gravy but it was on the side. The grits were cooked perfectly and the hashbrown casserole was yummy! I am not afraid of Cracker Barrel anymore. ( for now at least!)

This place is hands down the best breakfast chain around. The boyfriend is from the South and is obsessed with breakfast foods, so no matter where we are, Cracker Barrel is always a must for Sunday mornings (and any other time he gets a craving)! The service can be hit or miss, and yes, the decor is tacky, but the food IS good. Their biscuits are amazing! I could make an entire meal out of them and their homemade lemonade. I'm also a fan of their meatloaf, it tastes almost exactly like my grandmother's recipe. The boyfriend loves their pancakes, fried chicken and fish. This place is comfort food at it's near best!

I really really enjoyed my pancakes, my husband said the sliders were kind of small but he enjoyed them . Our waitress was awesome!!! The first time I came here in July with my folks, it was pretty good. Having no gone a second time, I see it was our server who made that first trip so much better. This visit I went with my folks and husband (Sam S.) and it was just this side of horrific. Our server (who my dad named lurch) was pushing, rushed us through the details of what eggs, meat, etc we wanted, and then kept us waiting about 25 mins (if not more) for our breakfast items. Three of us had eggs and they were almost ice cold when they hit the table. My cheesy hash-brown casserole (like my mom's) was also chilled. Many of the items come with gravy (which was warm at best) and they didn't even give my husband 100% REAL syrup for his french toast! When the food arrived, he had another person carrying the rest of our order and kept referring to his order slip about what food he should serve. I'm quite positive it would have been both EASIER and FASTER to ask the people who ordered it since we were sitting RIGHT THERE! I have to admit the biscuits are amazingly good, but you'd be much better off buying some to take home and make your own eggs and such to have on them. I might give this another try, but not if he is our server.

Typical chain type breakfast place that makes you wade through a ton of crap souvenirs in the crowded store before you can event get to the restaurant. We were seated quickly but they put parties of 5 on a 4 top with a chair at the end. Not really great when most of the party is 6 + foot men. There is a ton of food served and it is fairly quick. The waitress that takes your order isn't the same that brings the food so if you need anything once your food is served, be prepared to wait, or get up and get it yourself. They have no GF menu and they are not really educated on the dietary restriction. That is disappointing for a chain. Trying to pay the bill was a nightmare. You have to go back into the Disney-type store where people are lined up to buy all the useless crap they found in the store. They need to have an express register for people who just want to pay and go. Overall, it meets expectations for what it is, so just be realistic about where you are.

I am a huge fan of the food at Cracker Barrel restaurants. That being said, however, they have started something in recent years that completely takes the shine off the experience for me. After a great 'down-home style cooked meal in the rustic dining room.. you then head to the cash register to pay and it becomes an altogether different experience. Right away they start trying to sell you other stuff.. candy bar of the day .. some sort of 'trinket of the week... It's just cheesy and low class... it feels like a desperate and frantic exercise to squeeze every last dollar out of a guest. So now the cashier, usually only one.. has to take your money. answer the phone,. try to sell you stuff.. and generally attempt to still make you feel as welcome as the billboards and advertising try to insinuate. It just feels awkward and generally stupid - Here's a restaurant that prides itself on the 'Down Home" dining experience.. and then they finish it up by making it feel like a Mediterranean Bazaar. Out of all the times I can remember going back to my parents' house for a visit and home cooked meal, I don't remember them ever trying to sell me a quilt after dessert! CRACKER BARREL.. Listen up: Stop cheapening the experience by trying to sell me more stuff at the register!! Stop putting your employees in the hot seat, by making me feel like I'm in the way .... while they do all the other superfluous stuff you ask them to do. Honor your advertising.

Our server was pushy and overbearing, rushing us in making our orders, but it took a long, long time to receive any food, even a few biscuits while we were waiting. When the food finally arrived, he spent several seconds consulting the order ticket to figure out who wanted what...rather than just asking us. The inadequacies of our individual server, "Mr. Lurch," aside, by the point we could eat the food most of it was cold. Each of our egg orders was cold, the hashbrowns and even the french toast, all cold. The high points: the biscuits -- "like heaven," the chicken fried chicken and the chicken fried steak. Disappointingly, the tiny mini-bar sized bottle of syrup I was given to go with my french toast was not maple syrup, but "100% pure natural syrup." That is, about half maple syrup and half corn syrup. Oh yeah, 100%...syrup. Cough syrup is 100% syrup, too. A barrel of waiting, cold food, and meh.

Went with DH and daughter. First-timers and we were pleased. DH got a bacon cheeseburger that he was very happy with, I got the haddock sandwich (baked, not fried, on sourdough - surprising but with a good result) and daughter got her Mac n cheese. Steak fries all around. Our server (Andrew) was genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering, basically whoever hired him did a good job. He didn't push dessert (a pleasant surprise) but we opted for it anyway: kids sundae for daughter (just enough for an almost 4 yr old) DH, a caramel sundae in a frozen beer stein (interesting) and me? Peach cobbler (scoop of vanilla melting nicely on top). Deeeee-licious! Full and happy. I admit, it is a little odd to pay in Ye Olde General Store, but the nice man at the register made no attempts at up selling anything (thank goodness). Maybe he saw me towing our daughter along and took pity on us (small child + lots of merchandise = tough enough to get out on our own)? Anyway, give Andrew a raise - he's a credit to your business. We'll be back next time we're in the area!

Going in on a busy Sat. Afternoon had a 20 min wait but there is a store that you can browse around in. Once we were seated there's a wide selection of dishes to try on the menu. Everyone in our party really enjoyed their meals. They also serve breakfast all day long. And the prices are very affordable.

Well, I was told that there was a Cracker Barrel when ladies from my church wanted to take me out to lunch for my birthday. They thought it would be a great treat since I am from TN, (where Cracker Barrel is based) and it WAS!!! Such a throw back! I don't know whether having a CB this close to home is a good thing or bad thing. Everyone MUST try the fried catfish! And OH!!! OH OH OH!!!! The biscuits....Mmmmmm......biscuits.....and the peach cobbler......and the biscuits.....mmmmmm. Then check out the country store......I will definately have to limit my visits to CB. P.S. Let me start out by saying I usually love Cracker Barrel. I have been to the Portland location 3 times now and honestly I have been very disappointed. The wait staff were rude and the food is seriously starting to suffer. 2 out of our five meals were stone cold and one meal was just not very good. The portions have gotten smaller as well as the prices. Even the gifts out front have gone up in price and they have some sneaky pricing tags that get you to pick something up to buy it only for the price to go up at the register. Just not the Cracker Barrel quality I am used to!

My friend and I ate at CB this past Saturday. No wait and efficient, prompt service. Our waitress was very pleasant. My friend had the blueberry pancakes with bacon and the yummy, cheesy hashbrowns casserole. She enjoyed it all and commented on the blueberry syrup served with the three, large pancakes that arrived before her. I had the veggie plate and enjoyed that very much. Beans, greens, limas and mac 'n cheese (an honorary veggie!) - I will agree however with the reviewers that thought their food was not hot enough. While the mac 'n cheese and limas were warm enough, the beans and greens were not. This is an area that needs attention. Refills for our soda and tea were offered and gladly accepted. CB is a large chain that offers inexpensive, home type cooking with a southern bent. Don't expect fine dining if you go, but the price is right. If you don't like the gift shop area then walk on through!

I have eaten at other Cracker Barrels in the past. I was pleased that this one was like the others. Pretty good down home cooking. Two things I did not like was the junk they sell out front and the overly friendly host. Aside from that very pleased. Had the eggs with chicken fried steak. Eggs are eggs and so is chicken fried steak though its hard to get the latter in Maine. For some reason every breakfast they serve comes with grits, yuck. I did not touch mine so I assume they give them to the next person on down the line.

CB is a large chain that offers inexpensive, home type cooking with a southern bent. Don't expect fine dining if you go, but the price is right. If you don't like the gift shop area then walk on through!

I have eaten at other Cracker Barrels in the past. I was pleased that this one was like the others. Pretty good down home cooking. Two things I did not like was the junk they sell out front and the overly friendly host. Aside from that very pleased. Had the eggs with chicken fried steak. Eggs are eggs and so is chicken fried steak though its hard to get the latter in Maine. For some reason every breakfast they serve comes with grits, yuck. I did not touch mine so I assume they give them to the next person on down the line.

Hey! I thought this place was actually pretty good! We had a great waitress who was very friendly. I had yummy eggs in a basket! (That's eggs over medium in toast..the middle of the toast is cut out!) I did get sausage with mine..I definitely don't like the sausage they have. Not my favorite. I should have ordered bacon! But, needless to say..everything else was YUMMY! My husband had pancakes, bacon and eggs over easy and he loved all of it. We'll definitely go back for sure! The store also has a bunch of clearance racks and they had these amazing Halloween costumes for $5.00! They were over 50.00!

I took out dinner yesterday night and although the food was actually quite tasty, the service was terrible. I walked in and was told a server needed to take my order (why) as opposed to the host or a manager. I waited for 10 minutes for my order to be taken. I finally placed the order and it took almost 30 minutes for the meal to be ready. I asked several employees where my meal was and they would say they would check but never get back to me (this includes the manager as well). I drove, literally, 1-2 min back to the hotel and the food was almost ice cold. I am sure it was sitting around somewhere before being packed. I will admit, even cold, the food was still good (almost like a high end type frozen dinner) especially for the price (about $11 for one entree with 3 sides and 2 biscuits). Seriously you get what you pay for. That being said, I would go back again but remind the server that you will leave (I swear I will next time) if they are not TIMELY bringing you a HOT meal. PS The side of dumplings was addictive as was the biscuit. I think those are the 2 reasons I would go back :)

I have been to many different Cracker Barrel's over the years. Most of the time we eat in and have great service. Tonight the weather was crappy, so we decided to do takeout. First we waited 10 minutes for someone to take our order, then he kept telling us they were out of this or that. Rick and I both wanted mash potato's and was told to pick something else, I chose dumpling and Rick picked Apple slice. I was so in the mood for those dumplings after waiting 30 minutes for them. I open my dinner and no dumplings. Rick got no Apple slices, we both got mash pototo's. They screwed up or bread order too. Don't get me wrong the food was good, but it would have been better if it had been hot.

Overall I was impressed! I had avoided Cracker Barrel's like the plague after a bad experience at one somewhere between Georgia and Florida. My 11 year old really wanted to eat here though and since we were staying right next door at the Doubletree. The biscuits were exceptionally delicious! I didn't care for the gravy but it was on the side. The grits were cooked perfectly and the hashbrown casserole was yummy! I am not afraid of Cracker Barrel anymore. ( for now at least!)

This place is hands down the best breakfast chain around. The boyfriend is from the South and is obsessed with breakfast foods, so no matter where we are, Cracker Barrel is always a must for Sunday mornings (and any other time he gets a craving)! The service can be hit or miss, and yes, the decor is tacky, but the food IS good. Their biscuits are amazing! I could make an entire meal out of them and their homemade lemonade. I'm also a fan of their meatloaf, it tastes almost exactly like my grandmother's recipe. The boyfriend loves their pancakes, fried chicken and fish. This place is comfort food at it's near best!

The food was amazing!!! I got Wild Maine Blueberry pancakes and my husband got breakfast sliders. I really really enjoyed my pancakes, my husband said the sliders were kind of small but he enjoyed them . Our waitress was awesome!!! She was very kind and generous and brought us drinks when they needed refilling. She even apologized because the music wasn't working right. Would visit this location in a heart beat when visiting next time!!

The first time I came here in July with my folks, it was pretty good. Having no gone a second time, I see it was our server who made that first trip so much better. This visit I went with my folks and husband (Sam S.) and it was just this side of horrific. Our server (who my dad named lurch) was pushing, rushed us through the details of what eggs, meat, etc we wanted, and then kept us waiting about 25 mins (if not more) for our breakfast items. Three of us had eggs and they were almost ice cold when they hit the table. My cheesy hash-brown casserole (like my mom's) was also chilled. Many of the items come with gravy (which was warm at best) and they didn't even give my husband 100% REAL syrup for his french toast! When the food arrived, he had another person carrying the rest of our order and kept referring to his order slip about what food he should serve. I'm quite positive it would have been both EASIER and FASTER to ask the people who ordered it since we were sitting RIGHT THERE! I have to admit the biscuits are amazingly good, but you'd be much better off buying some to take home and make your own eggs and such to have on them. I might give this another try, but not if he is our server.

Typical chain type breakfast place that makes you wade through a ton of crap souvenirs in the crowded store before you can event get to the restaurant. We were seated quickly but they put parties of 5 on a 4 top with a chair at the end. Not really great when most of the party is 6 + foot men. There is a ton of food served and it is fairly quick. The waitress that takes your order isn't the same that brings the food so if you need anything once your food is served, be prepared to wait, or get up and get it yourself. They have no GF menu and they are not really educated on the dietary restriction. That is disappointing for a chain. Trying to pay the bill was a nightmare. You have to go back into the Disney-type store where people are lined up to buy all the useless crap they found in the store. They need to have an express register for people who just want to pay and go. Overall, it meets expectations for what it is, so just be realistic about where you are.

I am a huge fan of the food at Cracker Barrel restaurants. That being said, however, they have started something in recent years that completely takes the shine off the experience for me. After a great 'down-home style cooked meal in the rustic dining room.. you then head to the cash register to pay and it becomes an altogether different experience. Right away they start trying to sell you other stuff.. candy bar of the day .. some sort of 'trinket of the week... It's just cheesy and low class... it feels like a desperate and frantic exercise to squeeze every last dollar out of a guest. So now the cashier, usually only one.. has to take your money. answer the phone,. try to sell you stuff.. and generally attempt to still make you feel as welcome as the billboards and advertising try to insinuate. It just feels awkward and generally stupid - Here's a restaurant that prides itself on the 'Down Home" dining experience.. and then they finish it up by making it feel like a Mediterranean Bazaar. Out of all the times I can remember going back to my parents' house for a visit and home cooked meal, I don't remember them ever trying to sell me a quilt after dessert! CRACKER BARREL.. Listen up: Stop cheapening the experience by trying to sell me more stuff at the register!! Stop putting your employees in the hot seat, by making me feel like I'm in the way .... while they do all the other superfluous stuff you ask them to do. Honor your advertising.

Our server was pushy and overbearing, rushing us in making our orders, but it took a long, long time to receive any food, even a few biscuits while we were waiting. When the food finally arrived, he spent several seconds consulting the order ticket to figure out who wanted what...rather than just asking us. The inadequacies of our individual server, "Mr. Lurch," aside, by the point we could eat the food most of it was cold. Each of our egg orders was cold, the hashbrowns and even the french toast, all cold. The high points: the biscuits -- "like heaven," the chicken fried chicken and the chicken fried steak. Disappointingly, the tiny mini-bar sized bottle of syrup I was given to go with my french toast was not maple syrup, but "100% pure natural syrup." That is, about half maple syrup and half corn syrup. Oh yeah, 100%...syrup. Cough syrup is 100% syrup, too. A barrel of waiting, cold food, and meh.

Went with DH and daughter. First-timers and we were pleased. DH got a bacon cheeseburger that he was very happy with, I got the haddock sandwich (baked, not fried, on sourdough - surprising but with a good result) and daughter got her Mac n cheese. Steak fries all around. Our server (Andrew) was genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering, basically whoever hired him did a good job. He didn't push dessert (a pleasant surprise) but we opted for it anyway: kids sundae for daughter (just enough for an almost 4 yr old) DH, a caramel sundae in a frozen beer stein (interesting) and me? Peach cobbler (scoop of vanilla melting nicely on top). Deeeee-licious! Full and happy. I admit, it is a little odd to pay in Ye Olde General Store, but the nice man at the register made no attempts at up selling anything (thank goodness). Maybe he saw me towing our daughter along and took pity on us (small child + lots of merchandise = tough enough to get out on our own)? Anyway, give Andrew a raise - he's a credit to your business. We'll be back next time we're in the area!

Going in on a busy Sat. Afternoon had a 20 min wait but there is a store that you can browse around in. Once we were seated there's a wide selection of dishes to try on the menu. Everyone in our party really enjoyed their meals. They also serve breakfast all day long. And the prices are very affordable.

Well, I was told that there was a Cracker Barrel when ladies from my church wanted to take me out to lunch for my birthday. They thought it would be a great treat since I am from TN, (where Cracker Barrel is based) and it WAS!!! Such a throw back! I don't know whether having a CB this close to home is a good thing or bad thing. Everyone MUST try the fried catfish! And OH!!! OH OH OH!!!! The biscuits....Mmmmmm......biscuits.....and the peach cobbler......and the biscuits.....mmmmmm. Then check out the country store......I will definately have to limit my visits to CB. P.S. Let me start out by saying I usually love Cracker Barrel. I have been to the Portland location 3 times now and honestly I have been very disappointed. The wait staff were rude and the food is seriously starting to suffer. 2 out of our five meals were stone cold and one meal was just not very good. The portions have gotten smaller as well as the prices. Even the gifts out front have gone up in price and they have some sneaky pricing tags that get you to pick something up to buy it only for the price to go up at the register. Just not the Cracker Barrel quality I am used to!

My friend and I ate at CB this past Saturday. No wait and efficient, prompt service. Our waitress was very pleasant. My friend had the blueberry pancakes with bacon and the yummy, cheesy hashbrowns casserole. She enjoyed it all and commented on the blueberry syrup served with the three, large pancakes that arrived before her. I had the veggie plate and enjoyed that very much. Beans, greens, limas and mac 'n cheese (an honorary veggie!) - I will agree however with the reviewers that thought their food was not hot enough. While the mac 'n cheese and limas were warm enough, the beans and greens were not. This is an area that needs attention. Refills for our soda and tea were offered and gladly accepted. Standard food . You get a lot for the money . I have been twice for breakfast , both times I walked out full BUT not really satisfied . Try it yourself , Maybe it was just me ....

Let me start out by saying I usually love Cracker Barrel. I have been to the Portland location 3 times now and honestly I have been very disappointed. The wait staff were rude and the food is seriously starting to suffer. 2 out of our five meals were stone cold and one meal was just not very good. The portions have gotten smaller as well as the prices. Even the gifts out front have gone up in price and they have some sneaky pricing tags that get you to pick something up to buy it only for the price to go up at the register. Just not the Cracker Barrel quality I am used to!

My friend and I ate at CB this past Saturday. No wait and efficient, prompt service. Our waitress was very pleasant. My friend had the blueberry pancakes with bacon and the yummy, cheesy hashbrowns casserole. She enjoyed it all and commented on the blueberry syrup served with the three, large pancakes that arrived before her. I had the veggie plate and enjoyed that very much. Beans, greens, limas and mac 'n cheese (an honorary veggie!) - I will agree however with the reviewers that thought their food was not hot enough. While the mac 'n cheese and limas were warm enough, the beans and greens were not. This is an area that needs attention. Refills for our soda and tea were offered and gladly accepted. CB is a large chain that offers inexpensive, home type cooking with a southern bent. Don't expect fine dining if you go, but the price is right. If you don't like the gift shop area then walk on through!

I have eaten at other Cracker Barrels in the past. I was pleased that this one was like the others. Pretty good down home cooking. Two things I did not like was the junk they sell out front and the overly friendly host. Aside from that very pleased. Had the eggs with chicken fried steak. Eggs are eggs and so is chicken fried steak though its hard to get the latter in Maine. For some reason every breakfast they serve comes with grits, yuck. I did not touch mine so I assume they give them to the next person on down the line.

I really want to like Cracker Barrel, lord knows I've given them more than a few chances. I went there most recently for my sister's bday for brunch. I feel like I always get the third degree when I try to get the breakfast sandwich on something other than bread (an English muffin perhaps) with cheese & no tomato & topping. I also feel like I could deal with crap service if the food was good but it's just meh.
