I think this place might be closed down now? Either that or they were closed for renovations when I tried to go a month ago. The food was really good! The wonton and hot and sour soup were good, along with the combination plate I got. The portions were big and priced good. The drinks were very strong (which I like). I'll need to check again if they're still open, but if they are I'd go back in a second!

We love the food an go there weekly, it is the only Chinese restaurant we go to in town. Don't let its looks scare you. It is very clean and the food is great with portions large enough to make for 3 meals instead of 1. Try it out.

Went there on a whim after hearing it was pretty good. I have to say for chinese in Sanford it is the best in town. Just don't look in the kitchen when you order. Not a dine in restaurant, only take out unless just a couple of friends for lunch menu.

For take out Chinese food, it's quite good! I have eaten at all 3 places in Sanford and this is our go to. The fried rice is good. The spring rolls are awesome, although too greasy some days.

This was the best Chinese food in town until it changed ownership. Not so good now and portions sizes are noticeably different....

I did a small take out order here yesterday. I got the boneless spare ribs and hot and sour soup. The spare ribs were good. They weren't too sweet or greasy. The soup was decent but I would have liked it a bit more on the sour side. All in all, Yummy House was good take out Chinese. It wasn't amazing but it certainly wasn't horrible either....just good, solid take out Chinese and that works for me.

I stopped for lunch at Yummy House located next door to Goodwill in the Midtown Mall (plaza). The place is not fancy and has the atmosphere of a typical old school strip plaza Chinese takeout restaurant with a few tables and open kitchen. They also offer 17 Luncheon Specials ($4.95-$8.25) served until 4PM daily, 8 Combinations ($9.25) and Kid's Happy Box (served with soda). The prices seem a bit high for Chinese food, but the portions coming out were pretty generous. A group of folks were enjoying their lunches, a smorgasbord of food on the table. I decided to get takeout since the restaurant was pretty hot inside and it was in the mid 80s outside. I ordered the L5 ($5.25) Vegetable Lo Mein, Pork Fried Rice, & 4 Chicken Fingers and a can of Diet Pepsi ($1.25). The food was cooked to order fairly quickly and I enjoyed my lunch outside by my ride on a nice day. The food was very good and tasty. The vegetable lo mein had a good mix of vegetables (onion, carrots, sprouts, green peppers) in firm noodles. The fried rice (light colored) had tender and soft pork cubes. The chicken fingers were very crispy outside with tender boneless chicken inside. There was enough food left over for dinner. "Yummy" is the proper word to describe the food at Yummy House.

We became addicted to Yummy house the first time we moved to Shapleigh and tried it 7 years ago. Portion sizes are generous, the people there are extremely friendly and work very hard to get orders done on time even when they are overloaded with orders. We love the Pu-Pu platter, they have the best-tasting crab rangoons we've had (and we're very picky), and their lo-mein and fried rice is always loaded with the good stuff. The single drawback is that the dining area leaves room to be desired - but we don't go there to dine - it's primarily a take-out place, and money is clearly spent on the quality of the food over the quality of the ambience. Fair tradeoff. If you want the best Chinese takeout in Southern Maine (possible all of Maine) - this is the place to pick up your order.

my favorite "greasy takeout Chinese" restaurant of all time, I grew up eating the happy boxes and still order them to this day! The food is always consistently delicious and portions are huge. the Owners are super friendly and if there is ever a mistake with the order they make up for it by giving extra food and free drinks without hesitation. The place is always crowded, especially on fri/sat evenings but that just shows why its one of the only businesses left in the midtown mall

One of my favorite Chinese food places! Great tasting food and huge portion sizes. It's always super busy Friday and Saturday nights, sometime a 45 minute wait for take out.

Yummy House USED to be the best Chinese place in Sanford, now that they have changed owners... their food and service is AWFUL. Take your money to Green Tea or Golden Palace instead

Yummy House has changed owner, food is taste different and all the chefs went to Green Tea Restaurant

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
