Best corned beef hash I've ever had! My girlfriend and I decided to get breakfast at a local spot while waiting for my car service up the road, she found the Auto mile diner online from these reviews so we dicided to try it out and I'm glad we did! I got eggs and hash and the hash was truly homemade and had incredible flavor. We were both extreamly satisfied with our meals and the friendly service. We even got to meet the chef/owner as he came out in the dining room to joke around with some regulars. We'll definitelty be back again!!!!!!

Wife and I eat here 2 or3 times a month, that should say it all. We found this diner in 2005 while having our vehicle serviced at the now defunct Brown Motors. It was a recomendation by our salesman and we couldn't have been more satisfied. George's soups and chowders are among the best and when he has them his fried clams are great. he has both whole and strip clams. Also his breakfasts are top shelf.

Tasty breakfast. Homestyle cooking. Very small diner, but friendly staff and good food are worth a visit.

Friends visiting from Mass. found this spot on Yelp. the outside is pretty nondescript and the small dining room nothing fancy but this place was wonderful. Super friendly waitstaff, a passionate and entertaining chef in George and great, well priced breakfast. George told us his corned beef hash is from scratch so two of us ordered it. Awesome taste, not too salty, served with perfectly cooked eggs and an english muffin on the grill (decadent perk). While we waited George sent us out a delicious blueberry cinnamon roll already cut into thirds for the three of us. I will definitely be back and am going to try their lunch as well.

So delicious! Everything tastes really fresh and came out quick. Waitress and waiter were very nice and welcoming. Definitely will come again next time I'm in the area.

Good solid breakfast. Blueberry pancakes, nice crispy bacon, biscuits and coffee. This is my husband's favorite breakfast spot. Lots of choices and daily specials. Very small place, around 8 tables. Located on route one just past all the car dealerships.

Amazing prices for lots of food. The blueberry pancakes are out of this frigan world. ....I'm typing this from mars.

Best breakfast spot I've been to in Maine. Small place but with a pretty good sized menu. Lots of hearty options which was perfect for a long day of sightseeing. I got biscuits with sausage gravy and a side of two eggs and hash. My boyfriend and I also split a blueberry pancake...phenomenal! This was certainly a stick to your ribs meal! Don't be deterred by the outdoor appearance of this place! Awesome home cooking and very friendly people!

Best breakfast in the State of Maine that I've discovered so far. The coffee was rich. full-bodied and delicious. I love coffee and am hard to please but Auto Mile far exceeded my expectations. And why not? They are located along Route 1, set back slightly from the road in a nondescript building, half of which was available for rent. The building is nearly surrounded by an old macadam parking lot. When we first pulled into the parking lot we were just a little unsure. What did we learn yet again? Don't judge a book by its cover. The restaurant was bright, fun, and our table (and all the rest) felt very much like a chef's kitchen table. We loved the handwritten and illustrated menu on the wall- helpful for those travelling South from Quebec who may struggle with English. The help staff was cheerful and helpful. The breakfast was divine. I had the best hash of my life, with nice large eggs and thick, tasty bacon. The orange juice was ice cold and sweet- I swear it was fresh squeezed. I ordered the large hash and eggs and wish I had ordered the small- too much food for this big boy from Pennsylvania. This is a must for breakfast lovers travelling through Southern Maine. Don't miss Auto Mile Diner. And just for the record, in Autumn the trees behind the restaurant are stunning as well.

Excellent food , our waitress was swamped but held it together despite a few rude customers. Glad we stopped !

This restaurant is a gem and the fact that it's a little off the beaten track meant I did not have to wait in line on Memorial Day Saturday for a table. My mother uses a walker and they were very considerate, which I'm finding lately is not the norm. The very small dining room is bright and cheerful, and while the tables are close together they are all at different angles so you have the illusion of privacy. I had the "famous" hash, which is nothing like out of a can so you need to be prepared for what the fresh and real stuff tastes like. I happen to really like fresh hash and this was no disappointment. Just a little moist, perfectly browned, with nicely cooked eggs on the side. It is not easy to fry an egg "over easy" without leaving something uncooked, so I use that as a rating system for myself. Overall, I think this was just a really nice place with really good food run by really nice people and you won't be sorry you stopped here instead of the big fancy diner a little ways back, the one with the 2-hour line......

We stopped late on a Sunday morning for lunch. The food was very good. We even ordered the chocolate cream pie which was well made. It is not from a pudding mix and is topped with fresh whipped cream, however the cream did not hold completely so it was a little funny- but still good.

How did I miss this little gem of a Breakfast place. I loved every single bite of our meal. I had Hash and Eggs and my boyfriend had a Western Omelet. Both meals were amazing. We decided to share an order of French Toast and the server recommended the Maple Butter... FANTASTIC recommendation Thank You!!! . I'm cant wait to go back for more!!

The Auto Mile Diner is little diner/sub shop, which serves up breakfast and lunch, located along Route 1 in Saco for lunch takeout very recently. The atmosphere inside is not fancy and pretty cozy with a homey full service dining room and a takeout counter. The menu offerings include egg dishes, 3 egg omelets, home fries, pancakes, French toast, burgers, subs, sandwiches, seafood, and comfort dishes (ham steak, spaghetti & meatballs, NY sirloin & meatloaf to name a few). For those with an appetite, the Auto Mile Pile Up (3 eggs, 1 pancake, bacon, ham, sausage, homefries, & toast) should do the trick. The prices here are pretty fair, most entrees priced $4.75-$12.95. I took a lunch break very recently and stopped in at the Auto Mile Diner for some takeout. The solo waitress was handling the dining room, running the takeout counter and making subs, so it took a few moments to order. I ordered a Large Italian Ham & Cheese Sub ($4.29). The sub itself was pretty decent and messy to eat which had sliced deli ham (semi thick and slightly salty), provolone, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, pickles, and black olives with an oily Italian dressing on a soft white sub roll. That was enough to tide me over for my afternoon drive along the Maine coast. HOURS: Mon-Sat: 5AM-2PM; Sun: 7AM-1PM (breakfast served all day).

Some friends and I went here on our vacation to Scarborough/Old Orchard Beach. The service was super friendly, and the food was excellent. The pancakes were amazing and I could barely finish mine. In fact, I think most of our party had a hard time finishing their breakfasts. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.

I didn't believe the other reviews on here at first because the name and location don't make this an attractive destination, but it really is good. I went here while visiting the Scarborough area on vacation. There are surprisingly few breakfast options in the area (aside from the hotel continental breakfasts) and this was a great surprise. The service was friendly and quick. I would recommend this to anyone.

Fresh ingredients, friendly wait staff and passionate / outspoken Chef make for a deliciously entertaining meal. The breakfast is the best on the east coast IMHO. George does everything right from the corned beef hash with real corned beef to the fantastic pancakes which are actually like little cakes, you won't leave disappointed. The only draw back is the size, it is a bit small so getting a seat will be a challenge but well worth the wait.

Just went here while on vacation. First off, workers were nice but ended up with a long hair in an omelette and was told when our food arrived that "the chef didn't have time to go to the part of the kitchen to make your oatmeal, sorry." Huh?! After getting a new omelette, the order was wrong. Oh well but wouldn't recommend it because of the chef. Workers were pleasant and apologetic

This was one of the best diners I have been to in recent memory! We ordered country fried steak and eggs, an eggs benedict, and my son had the "Auto Mile Pileup". It was fun to watch him struggle to finish it. Everything here is well prepared. Service was top notch. George takes extreme pride in the quality of his restaurant and it shows.
