My boys and I absolutely love this place. It's located just off of the highway and centrally located in Biddeford. The selection of sandwiches, snacks, entrees, and salads is guaranteed to please even the pickiest of eaters. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. Everything is out in the open so you can see the care and cleanliness of food preparation. Yes, it might be a tiny bit slow, but only because it's busy. On my visit on July 1st, we waited maybe 10 minutes for my meatball hero and three orders of cheesy bread. We all left happy and full.

My aunt insisted I have a real Italian sandwich saying this place is amazing. Well, nice clean facility, nice people, super fresh bread. But...I have had better Italian subs so I was disappointed :(

Amatos Italians are THE BEST!!!! If you've never had one it's one of Maine's staples. The pickles are uniquely sour and delicious. I would also recommend their pazzo bread, macaroni salad, meatball sub, and their pizza. They always have my order on time and they deliver! The staff are great!

I love amatoes but you need to clean your tables in the dining room. It's every amatoes too. Not just this one. It would take 2 minutes.

Terrible service. I love Amato's but this is the slowest I've ever been to. The staff are courteous and conscientious, so I don't blame them--they are either short-staffed or poorly trained. Either way, this is the fault of higher management.

I stopped here with a coworker for lunch when we were in town for a job. We were hoping for a quick bite to eat, so we ordered a couple sandwiches. I ordered a veggie wrap, figuring that would be quick and easy. My only request was to have no onions. I swear I saw her write that down. But, after waiting around for at least 15 minutes for 2 sandwiches, my wrap came with what seemed like an entire diced onion in it. And when I took a couple bites, a plate full of mayo/tomato juice poured out of it. Needless to say, I was not impressed. And didn't have time to complain or talk to anyone. Maybe it was an off day, but there were at least 3 workers behind the counter and we were 2 of about 6 customers in the whole place. Maybe if I'm ever here again, I'll stick to the pre-made cheese pizza / bread sticks.

Writing this review solely on their reg ham italian sandwiches. While there are other mom and pop Italian sandwich shops all over southern Maine that make better subs, Amatos make a consistent sub. It's not a place to sit and eat, it's a grab and go store. Their ham and cheese subs with everything are really good. It's a good beach sandwich. Fresh sliced pickles, tomatoes, onions and peppers. You myst have salt and pepper and olive oil drizzled on top for the full sub experience. This location is right off the turnpike and easy to get in and out of.

I went there on a Monday afternoon at 3pm. They had a staff of 4 people working. We waited 20 minutes with three subs ordered. We were the only ones in line. If they can't get it right with that little stress involved, I'm pretty sure they can't ever get it right. The subs that I ordered were the sausage grinder, classic italian, and the chicken pesto, all of which had very little flavor. The bread that they use is cheap and gets soggy quickly. The place is clean and is reasonably priced, but for a place that specializes in sandwiches, I can assure that a sandwich is something that I would never order from them again.

Veggie Italian sandwich -- best sandwich on the planet IMO, but I might be a bit biased since I grew up on them. Get one to take to the beach!!!!!

We visited on Sunday 6/29 for dinner there 10 of us we were not in a hurry but service was about the worst I have ever seen. Not smiles no greeting no thank you and one item was missed when we got our order 45 minutes lasted. I re-ordered OT for one of the kids we all set and ate our entire meal still no cheese bread. We all finished eating average food it was bland no real flavor. Every one left to go to the car I waited for cheese pizza bread of another 5 minutes. Again very poor service. There more then enough employees to handle the business problem was only about 5 were working other 3 pretended to be busy but didn't help the customer. Almato's is a place I have eaten at many time this the poorest location I have ever seen. Watch and heard several customer complain about how slow they were. To bad to see a place that at one time may have been one of the best Italian pizza and sandwich shops doing so poorly. The seem to have forgotten about the customer. Saco is a big tourist area and during the hight of the season you would assume they would be at their best. It this was the best it's was. I will not return to this one nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Wow! What a nightmare this place was. My husband and I stopped in here to get two subs before heading to a movie. I ordered a chicken ceasar wrap and he ordered a steak and cheese sub. There was some special where you got fries on the size for a discounted price. So we fell for the gimmick and said why not. So they told us to sit down and they would call us when our food was ready. We were on limited time. As I said, we were going to a movie that would be starting in 45 minutes. We sat down for about 20 minutes. We saw at least 6-10 people come in get their food and sit down and start eating. Finally, my husband goes up and asks what's going on with our food. The man behind the counter says: "OH! Here it is sitting right here..here you go!" No, sorry..we didn't call your name, nothing! So, of course the steak and cheese is NOT hot!! The steak and cheese had no steak in it and it was gross, too. My ceasar salad was pretty much the same quality. The fries were absolutely nasty. Not even warm...never mind hot! I wouldn't go back here if my life depended on it. We missed our movie and had to go see something else on top of it...

Small eating area. Food was pretty good for a store like setting. Chicken parma. Dinner needed more chicken. The meat calzone was giant. It was pretty good. I had a ham n cheese grinder with pineapple which was real good. The deserts are great. We would eat here again.
