I actually went to this place 2 night in a row while on a training trip. The first night i had the fried scallops and whole clams, haddock chowder and strawberry shortcake. My waitress, Teresa was FABULOUS! I really enjoyed my meal, though the chowder tasted faintly like their other soup of the day, cheeseburger soup, though it was still tasty. The salad bar had a nice variety too. I wanted to mention again how great the server was - checked in just the right amount and was always pleasant, even when one of the other servers was crabbing to her about something customers shouldn't hear, and when it was a little lengthy waiting for my meal (not her fault anyway). It was such a nice experience and so much more low-key than other places around, I decided to take my family there the following night. I was happy to see we had the same waitress, who was just as great the second time. This time my food was not to my liking though. I had the lobster pie, which had a description of a casserole with a ritz crumb topping. It arrived containing numerous large chunky of green pepper, hunks of lobster and a ?bourbon? sauce or some brown alcoholic tasting sauce with a pinch of 2 of cracker crumbs drowning in it. Nothing else in the lobster pie. Even after picking the chunks of pepper out it still tasted disgusting. I did tell the waitress I thought it a strange combo of lobster and peppers. Everyone else had great meals that night. I would return but recommend they change that recipe quick! I've had a lot of lobster pie but never like that.

I'd passed this roadside restaurant a number of times and seen their menu and I really wanted to like it... Lunch today....really nice people, good service, friendly and accommodating...I wanted something with a salad so ordered shrimp scampi... Salad bar was really well stocked and fresh. Nothing exotic, but good variety. The scampi was ... well, it was good, but it wasn't scampi. Five well cooked medium/large shrimp sautéed with some chopped tomato and sliced peppers over linguine, it was tasty and light. Some Parmesan or maybe more garlic and lemon would have helped. Fresh bread was offered but I didn't try that; the table next to me was really enjoying their loaf. Overall I enjoyed the meal and I did like the place...but might try something different the next time. $24 w tip could have been better spent. (The list of pies looked amazing too, maybe lobster chowder and dessert?)

Outstanding chowder, service a bit overwhelmed. Fried oyster special was overbreaded and greasy but fries were fresh and excellent. Would certainly return.

Loved it! We love this place!!!! It's exactly what you would expect from a small local diner in the middle of Maine. The service was awesome - the woman waiting tables remembered us from the day before (yeah - we ate there TWO times in a row... ha!) and she was super nice. There isn't a huge crowd at all - maybe 3 or 4 tables had other patrons when we were there. The food was great and the price was right. Bacon and pancakes with homefries (I was on a healthy kick - can't ya tell?) were delicious - fluffy and flavorful. My other half had a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and sausage and was very pleased he got the same thing two days in a row. If you're in the area - definitely the place for breakfast.

Stopped in for lunch. Ordered the salad bar great; large variety of fresh ingredients. Being from New Orleans, I wanted fresh fish. Do not order halibut au gratin, the fish may have been fresh, but it tasted like Velveeta cheese and way too much of it. The grilled halibut was very good. The fried halibut was good, although I had better the last time I was in Seattle. I didn't care for the breading on fish. My weakness, home baked, hot wheat bread. It was very good. Rosie very nice. Service was good.

Poor food quality the chicken Parmesan had huge chunks of tomato and green peppers instead of tomato sauce, which is not stated in the menu. And the chicken was horrible.

Food was decent and service was quick and friendly, but the building smelled of moth balls and they gave us a dirty paper placemat,.

Our dinner was adequate overall. Inconsistent might be the watchword. I had haddock au gratin which was really good. Plenty of cheesy sauce with a crispy crumb topping. It was quite good. The baked potato that came with it, however, was another story. It was tired and dry with absolutely no hint of fluffy goodness. My husband had stuffed shrimp which were also dry and overcooked. The loaf of bread (we chose white but could have chosen wheat) was very good and a generous size for two people. It's been a while since I have had a traditional salad bar. This one was nice in that it had several ingredients that I really like to find - beets, garbanzos, sprouts, green peas, sunflower seeds. It was good. We shared a slice of blueberry pie. We're in Maine. Gotta have blueberry pie. Unfortunately, so far we have had nothing but heavy-handed crust and pasty filling. Will we find juicy blueberry pie with light, flaky crust? The quest continues.

The atmosphere is pretty casual and relaxed here. I had fried clams and my husband had the fried shrimp, both of which were served with plain fries and plain coleslaw. The shrimp and clams weren't bad, just really mediocre, especially considering the price. The service was slow despite not being busy, we had to ask for refills, and it took a long time to get the bill. My 4 yr old is pretty good in restaurants, but even she gets fidgety waiting a half an hour to leave after finishing the meal.

This place was exactly what I was looking for, a slightly weathered locally owned and operated establishment with delicious & wholesome food that is very well priced. I had the Queen Cut Prime Rib. My beef was $18.99 and came with a side (potato, rice pilaf, sweet potato or french fries) and a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar is a typical salad bar. The items were fresh and well stocked! My prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly (medium-rare). My wife ordered the $18.99 lobster dinner. Her meal came with one of the before-mentioned starches, a trip to the salad bar, a whole lobster and drawn butter. The lobster was perfectly cooked and well presented along with the rice pilaf, which could have used a touch more salt. All-in-all, our meal was very filling, tasty and well priced. For a lobster and prime rib dinner, our meal was less than $40, not including the tip. Additionally, our server was very friendly and timely during our meal. While I wouldn't consider the Offshore Restaurant the ideal place to go for a hot date, if you are looking for local seafood or a wholesome delicious meal (or a salad bar...salad bar dinner is $8.99), definitely give this place your business.

Good food. Good fun. Especially in October when they are totally decorated for Halloween Lots of food choices; not just seafood I had open face turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn on the Cobb The chocolate cream pie was de-lish!!! Onion rings are thin pieces of onion ( think onion straws). - wonderful!!! Waitress was running the entire time and seemed slightly irritated with special requests; but did take our requests. Remember a Thank You goes a long way ... Whoever filled out the questionnaire before us said no to every question for some reason. The do take credit cards
