The best scallops I have ever tasted. A generous serving of scallops with a simple salad. Great service and a meal with a view of the harbor. We are glad we tried this restaurant for dinner. We finished our meal with blueberry bread pudding and chocolate macaroon pie. Superb!

Felt like a tourist trap once I walked in and looked at the menu. No values here, and that instantly makes me suspect about the promise of good food, since they are looking at a one time customer hit. The roasted lobster bisque sounded great, but I didn't want to risk a $12 bowl of disappointment. Got the haddock sandwich and the blueberry bread pudding that had favorable reviews. The sandwich was fresh and bright, although the breading was light on flavor. Great portion of fish, which offset the steep lunchtime price. Bread pudding was fair. I believe it was made with dried blueberries, as it didn't deliver the popping juiciness and flavor I expected. Outside seating was perfect- breezy, warm and shaded.

Really good BLT..the cod Fritters were bland. Server was polite and attentive. I'd say 3.5 if I could

We ate lunch at the Landings, good service, Great Bloody Mary's . Unfortunately two out of three dishes that we tried were terrible. I ordered the lobster pie, thinking I would receive something resembling a chicken pot pie, creamy sauce loaded with lobster corn and potatoes . What was served instead was a medium sized plate with small fingerling potatoes sliced thick a few pieces of corn nibblets maybe 6 small pcs of lobster all tossed together with crushed up ritz crackers nothing really binding it together, dry, potatoes tasted like they were prepped the day before . The lobster was overpowered by the ritz crackers, at $ 20.00 I found the dish a total rip off . The other dish we did not like was the haddock sandwich, it had a weird combo of spices and just tasted off. The 3rd dish was excellent , the lobster risotto , done perfectly with nicely cooked mushrooms and chunks of lobster. The restaurant has a great location ,we will give it another chance. The bill came to $ 142.00 including tip

We had a great lunch. I had Lobstah... Very fresh and served hot. My husband had the roasted lobster pie he thought it was very good also. I had a cup of clam chowder, it had the most clams in it I've ever had!!! The staff were great. The owner was every where... Making sure everything was good. The cost was very reasonable, much less than Boston and better!!

It has been some time since we had been here, tried it today and loved it! New ownership for the last 3 years, so completely different from what i remember. We were here in a sunny April Saturday, so pretty quiet as the summer crowds have not hit the midcoast. There were some great tapas style apps, so my wife and i shared a few very unique and delicious dishes, starting with the cheese tray, the.going to a pork shank dish, lovely ricotta "pillows," and then a pork pate, wow! Not a huge menu, given it is April in Rockland, but unique and very tasty! We will be back!

Awesome Food!! Great Service!! Great Weather!! We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed a wonderful lunch!!
(5)Michael D.
Food was excellent, we had escagots, fried haddock and stale with asparagus. Very nice place with a great view. Service was quick amd good. They do have a really nice oil with spices in it for your bread.
(5)Michael M.
This place was a great find! Great patio area on a sunny afternoon, and terrific service. I had the best mussels I have ever ordered, and a crabroll that beat all others. Our party of 4 all agreed that the Landings was a hit! Lots of easy parking and a nice view of the water
(5)Shannon L.
Wonderful casual lunch spot. Beautiful harbor view from the shaded deck out back. Perfect spot for a lobster ______ and a beer/glass of wine. I came to this restaurant straight from maiden cliff (a somewhat strenuous hike straight uphill) and I didn't feel out of place or under dressed. The place has a very casual relaxed atmosphere. Lots of locals just hanging out.

Went to The Landings Restaurant for a business dinner for my local business, we were met with a happy, friendly, funny, and romantic atomsphere and waitstaff, the owners of the restaurant greeted us with open arms. Chef Max Miller prepared and number of entrees worthy of a high end restaurant, my co-workers were skeptical as this kind of cuisine is not readily available in our area and was every one surprised, well thought out dishes left us satisfied and happy. After a long week at our local business we really had an amazing time. Portion size was more than adequate, Steak, Fish, and Poultry was cooked to our specifications, and we could not stop eating! Priced exceptionally well for high end food i thought our experiance was a bargan and a great place for a date, work function, or just your favorite night out restaurant. Plan to go back soon!

Fried Haddock dinner with as excellent, Iightly battered. Husband loved the fried clams. Great experience of Maine for our friends from DC!
(5)Becky L.
I had the halibut special. It was good. Not the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was very nice. I had a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert. Wait staff was very attentive. There is a deck you can eat outside on and have a nice view of the harbor.

We stopped in after a drive to and from Acadia with two kids. Everyone was tired so we ordered takeout and the chef and front staff were super friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious. They made a few great exceptions for us, so we basically had a lobster dinner 'lazy' style with butter, asparagus and potatoes, crab cakes and mussels. As I said everything was great, my husband was even dipping his asparagus into the sauce for the mussels. This was a great end to a long day which also happened to be our anniversary. The deck looked great and it seemed like it would be nice to sit inside as well if you get a chance to go.
(5)Laura T.
Dined here for our wedding night dinner. The staff was fantastic, treated us like royalty. The food was outstanding. We ordered lobster which was great but the high light was a salad that included duck bacon with romaine, grilled apple and a poached egg, it was one of those dishes that was a surprise that you will always remember.
(5)Simon L.
An patently unremarkable bowl of fish chowder that was more like bacon soup - if it smells like bacon, if it looks like bacon, if it tastes like bacon and if it has bacon chunks in it - well, then doggarnit, it must be bacon. The chicken sandwich special was porky to say the least - not only was a chicken cutlet provided but the sammy came with its very own sausage burger topped with melted cheese and aioli. Holy pig batman. The sandwich was very confused - "Am I a sausage sandwich? Maybe I'm a chicken sandwich?" Polite service but the team just couldn't figure out whose credit card belonged to which table. But the beer was cold.

What a great experience all around! 1st restaurant I've ever been to that had a basket of reading glasses (thought a lot of people had lost theirs, but apparently the restaurant supplies them to patrons to use), which was good because I'd forgotten mine! lol Lobster risotto app was perfectly prepared (good for 2-3 people to share) I ordered a single lobster - perfection and vegetables were beautifully seasoned & prepared. (seasonal veggies, not corn on the cob) Husband ordered - Son1 - delmonico steak prepared exactly as requested Son2 - lobster roll - delicious! Portions were perfect! I hate it when restaurants overload plates (Americans are used to this and expect it, doesn't make it a good thing, though). Anyone who thinks they didn't get enough food, it's because you're used to restaurants who overload instead of giving you 1 meal's worth of food. I love that The Landings actually gives appropriate servings for their meals. I go to eat a meal, not pig out at a trough. Service was excellent, kitchen was fast and highest quality. Everyone was very friendly. Pricing was very reasonable. I would definitely be a regular at this restaurant if I lived nearby! Thank you to The Landings staff for making our evening and meal, one to remember fondly! Don't know if this is a regular thing or not, but there was also live acoustic music on a Tuesday (generally the slowest night for most restaurants). It was a nice touch that we greatly enjoyed.

From the moment we arrived and were created by the owner Kate Miller, we had an outstanding experience sitting on the patio with the most amazing view imaginable. The calamari, crabcakes, and house salad were terrific. We will most certainly tell our friends and be back soon!
(5)Lienkie D.
Great fried haddock and lobster dinner! Peaceful setting with great service and food.
(5)Tiffany S.
The ambience was stunning. Beautiful on the water view, live acoustic music. Without this, I would be giving one star. Everything else absolutely awful. We waited a long time for expensive food that arrived cold for each of us. The portion size was weak and I left hungry after paying $17 for the dish. Then we proceeded to wait an even longer time for the check. The restaurant wasn't full enough to wait that long and there were plenty of waitstaff. Inexcusable.
(2)David C.
Perfect friendly casual lobster and seafood place. They don't take reservations, but we called ahead to warn them 10 people were coming at 6pm, and they pushed together some tables for us. We tried everything from the classic lobster dinner, fried clams, fish and chips, lobster Mac and Cheese, to the BBQ chicken (some people just don't like seafood!), and the calamari, mussel, and chicken appetizers, and no one had any complaints. Even the cole slaw was good! Prices were reasonable, and service plenty fast, and everyone was friendly. Would definitely recommend.

The food is generally good but service slow. Prices high and quantity lacking. Avoid lobster blt. View is the best part

HEY EVERYONE - This restaurant is now owned by The Miller Family. The Landings opened under their food savvy direction in April 2013. Any review written BEFORE APRIL 2013 is for a different restaurant. So ignore it. This place is the coolest. The views here are so typical of Maine seaside waterfronts. This is a real working and functioning boat landing. Thus the name of the eatery is THE LANDINGS. The inside is decorated with an eclectic collection of Maine and sea themed antiques along with original art by some of the family members and local artists, including Kate's artist sister Laurie Curtain. the whole place is a labor of love. Off of the lower deck you are surrounded by rosa rugosa beach roses whose sent lightly fragrances the fresh salt air. I hope you get to eat here while there are Summer or Fall breezes. At Kate Millers's other restaurant, BRICKS, diners can sit out on the deck and request blankies from the wait staff if they get a chill in early Spring or Fall before the canopy comes down for the season. I'm sure that at The Landings you can do the same. The staff is almost all family members and very eager to make your experience a great one. I think however that they might draw the line at asking for fishing gear. :-) The food is fresh , delicious and without compromise. The handsome young chef, Max Miller, is right out of central casting. The culinary genes from his mother, Kate Miller, not withstanding, Max is determined to make sure you get to taste the favorable bounty that Maine has to offer. This is not a fish and chips joint. The food is uncomplicated so not to overwhelm the most important ingredients. The house salad is a welcome departure from snarky black olives, polyester tomatoes and wrinkled saggy onion slices drowned in dressing. His simple vinaigrette dressing is perfect. Don't miss out on the amazing (come on now, how often are you going to eat it) freshly cooked risotto dishes that Max whips up. He spends hours making his own sausage because he wants the flavor to be "special" and it is. Please try the steamed Mussels - they are so sweet you can taste the sea. The same goes for their freshly caught scallops. For a fun evening out with friends and a sane wine list that won't break the bank, I promise that this is where you will want to be. My husband's favorite lunch is their Maine Classic Haddock Sandwich along with their house salad. It's the only time he doesn't talk, he just sits there with a smile on his face and is happy for me to eat his pommels frites (that's French fries to you guys) along with my chunky juicy Lobster Roll. I'm sorry, but eating lobster is better than....... Well you know. Anything!! I could do it all day. The other day I watched one of the family members upon his return from the docks with what had to be about 150 pounds of Maine lobsters. I wish I had known about it beforehand, I could have hijacked the truck. Yum yum ! Oh I understand that the chocolate cake is really tasty, I wouldn't know. I am always stuffed from appetizers and lunch or dinner. Any more and they would have to wheel me out on a gurney. If you are new to the area or on vacation, don't miss out on this place. :-)

Awesome lunch! Had the Haddock sandwich with sweet potato fries. Food was fresh, hot, and tasty. My wife had the lobster pie and enjoyed it as well. Definitely check this place out for lunch. The good service, atmosphere, and great food made it worth our stop as we passed through town.

An awesome family owned restaurant! Loved attending the opening in April where they had fun live music and delicious food...employees were excited to welcome us all into the beautifully rennovated establishment. I loved seeing so many families from town come to enjoy a night of fun and food! Not to mention the view!! outdoor and indoor seating available! we can't wait to go back!
(5)Jeff C.
New ownership from the last time I was here. The menu has a good selection. The fried clams were fantastic and came as a large portion with fries. The BLT was spectacular with super thick cut bacon and a red pepper mayo on a roll. Indoor or outdoor seating on the waterfront. The staff was super friendly and tentative. Definitely worth the visit.

Seeing all the 5 star reviews before I wrote mine made me really reconsider. It feels like we ate somewhere else. Like other reviewers, we had been to the Landings before and the food was good, but the service was terrible. This time was not much different though the waitress was as friendly and pleasant as possible. The first disappointment was that they no longer have oysters on the half shell. We returned for oysters and the view. We ordered steamers, a special and while they were tasty, they were gritty and the tiniest, most expensive steamers we've ever had. The waitress tried to reassure us that they were weighed and a full pound but having eating steamers so many times I knew this could not be the case. We both had the "fisherman's stew." I think it had a different name but it was delicious and they broiled the haddock in mine to accommodate my not being able to eat the flour used to dredge it. All the fish, clams, mussels and haddock were excellent as was the tomato based broth. While the service was friendly and helpful it was torturously slow though the restaurant was not full. We ate on the deck and were given blankets when we asked after seeing other patrons using them. Due to the other reviews we might try one more visit but will check out some other locals as well.

NEW OWNERS! The Landings has been taken over by a local family. They have revamped the entire restaurant and have created a new menu. The food is way better than it used to be, thanks to an inspired chef and clean kitchen. The waitstaff is also the best around. I highly recommend this place. If you've been here in the past and had a bad experience, I urge you to give it another shot. You won't be disapointed!
(5)Larry W.
Very good, but not great food. We were very happy overall. Great service! Did well with our kids too (kids menus are glued on the inside of full disney books - cute). The lobster fettuccini was delicious. Great escargot. I ordered a smaller lobster but was given a larger (more expensive one) which was a little offputting. The view though more than made up for it - one of the few places in Rockland right on the water. Would go back again for sure.

The hostess was pleasant and welcoming. The waitress was awesome, with friendly and prompt service, as well as, excellent suggestions. The calamari was great, the lobster risotto was awesome and the blueberry bread pudding was amazing. My husband liked his fish and chips dish, and the flourless chocolate torte. I highly recommend this place for your date night, we really enjoyed our experience.

My husband and I stopped in today for lunch ...the location is great especially on a nice day which thankfully today was so we sat outside. Service was good and the menu had a nice variety - not too much...not too little - Nice Pub fare. They had an oyster Po Boy special that caught my eye so I asked the waiter about it....and he said he had not tried it himself but it was quite popular - Okay - we were sold and both ordered it...We were extremely underwhelmed...mind you we are oyster snobs and measure all fried oysters against Robinsons Wharf in Southport....These oysters here had absolutely no taste - it was the strangest thing...you honestly couldn't tell you were eating any type of seafood.....not sure what happened. We will come back again and try something else because of the location but be warned if your really like oysters...don't order them here!
(3)Daniel G.
Went here with my grandparents and girlfriend for my birthday dinner. Ordered a single lobster dinner for $28. The menu states that it comes with a biscuit but instead is served with a bun\roll (they claim it's an old recipe that contains YEAST.....newsflash biscuits don't contain YEAST) which was soggy from the lobster. The lobster is claimed to be 1.25 to 1.5 pounds, more like barely legal 1 pounders. When I spoke to the management they informed me that what we were really paying for was the view. GOOD TO KNOW! The only saving grace was a very nice waitress who did her job quite well and for that I'm thankful. Maybe a second chance will be given I'm not sure.

Found The Landings after a friend who had recommended The Shepards Pie was closed because of Labor Day. Nice settings on the water and outside seating is available which we took to enjoy the foggy evening. Menu was great and even featured one steak item though seafood is the mainstay here in Maine. To die for is the blueberry sangria. Don't pass it up as all is fresh.
(4)Gary M.
Day after Labor Day ... our first choice restaurant was closed ... we asked a passer-by if she could recommend a place ... turns out she knows the people at Landings, and she suggested we go there. It was great! Good food. Good ambiance. Excellent wait staff. Very good price. We'll be back, for sure!
(4)William E.
I have been to this restaurant before and after the new ownership. There is a remarkable difference between the two. The service is great. Both in the dining area and at the bar. The food that is coming out of that kitchen is phenomenal! The Everyone that I have encountered that works there truly has a passion for what they are doing there. The food that the chef is sending out of that kitchen is a refreshing revelation to the food that this town usually has. If you are stopping through Rockland or if you are a local to this area then I strongly urge you to get in and check it out. You will be back for sure!

Can't seem to go wrong on this trip. Ended up in Rockland looking for some seafood as all vacationers here do. Landings looks like your standard harbor front establishment that all these towns have but underneath that classic framework is a sickly talented dude pumping out foraged daily menus with simple but inventive dishes. Execution was top notch, nothing was hidden. The brined pork chop came out perfectly cooked (not overdone like most) And the cauliflower purée circling it carried a perfect body and simple accompaniment. The GF had a thin sliced tuna entree with some atypical greenery that wasn't gimmicky or distracting, excellent delivery mechanism for the fish. Max Miller the chef lets the mains shine through and doesn't play games. You have to go here and don't order the fried fish. Order off the specials menu and even ask if Max has anything he feels good about that day. Dude has talent. Will be back next time I'm up from NYC. If you must have lobster, order the risotto, super fresh flavors and the textures mix perfectly
(5)Melissa B.
Please note that I did not visit the restaurant proper but a food stand they had set up for the Rockland Solstice Festival. At this stand they were serving hand-made, smoked Italian-style sausages. They were so fresh the herbs flavoring the meat were still green and you could tell they were made of meat because you could actually pull small chunks of pork from the sausage. Just the right amount of smoke make the sausage delectable. It was enough to make me want to visit the actual restaurant on my next trip to Rockland.

Amazing location, lobster roll was not huge but very tasty. Amazing Maine blueberry sangria. The cod fritters were strange like eating air. Very nice staff
(4)K W.
Excellent service from sweet, smiling waitresses. Great location on the water. Delicious drinks. We happened to catch the steel drum band -which was exceptional. 2 Thumbs Up!
(5)Megan M.
Great fresh food, a blueberry sangria to die for and friendly service. We headed here because it was an easy walk from our hotel. What a treat. Beautiful views of the harbor while we dined on delicious fresh seafood. You have to try the blueberry sangria made with local blueberry wine and blueberries. The atmosphere is casual and laid back but nice. Would definitely come back when we are in Rockland.
(5)Danielle T.
After walking around Rockland, we asked for a recommendation where to eat on the water. The Landings came with high praise, and it was well deserved. We sat outside on a perfect fall day and I enjoyed the lobster BLT. Thick, house cured bacon with a ripe true-red tomato, and Boston Bibb lettuce...perfection. My friend ordered the Caesar salad and it was terrific, too. There was not a morsel left on our plates, and the service was wonderful as well. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Rockland.
(5)Amy C.
Not kid-friendly. Host was clearly not happy to see hubs and I with two kids for lunch on a Tuesday. No kids menu (or did not give us one), so we left. Perhaps, based on the photo, they cater to a more (ahem) mature clientele?
(1)Emily S.
This restaurant is right on the water and has a nice casual, nautical atmosphere. My friend and I sat at the bar and ordered blueberry martinis from the sweetest bartender I've met in a while. The drinks were perfectly balance and she offered great conversation. We started with started with the creamed hominy with house bacon and peas, alongside homemade biscuits. For those (like me) who have never had hominy before, it can be compared to grits or risotto. Creamy, flavorful, and pleasantly chewy. The bartender told us about how the chef, Max, cures the bacon for 2-3 days instead of the usual 5-6 to make sure the bacon lardons stay tender and flavorful. The biscuits were buttery and worked well as a vehicle to the eat the hominy with! For dinner I ordered the crispy halibut with ham and bean stew (from the regular menu) and my friend ordered the halibut dish featured on the special menu which had a lobster brown butter sauce. We both loved our entrees and were impressed with fresh the fish was. We also shared a special the kitchen was running- Halibut ceviche accompanied with buttered corn hash and a halibut gelée. I'm not really huge on fish so ordering the halibut entree was a bit of a risk for me in the first place, but this dish really showed me what Maine cooking is all about. They were able to prepare the fish in such a non-fishy way (if that makes any sense!) and the accompaniments like the corn and fingerling crisps really allow you to make each bite totally different. This was my first experience eating at a restaurant from Maine (I live in Boston) and I'm totally sold. As not a huge seafood eater, I was really impressed and now feel pretty swayed towards ordering a lot more fish in the future. I do want to stress that although The Landings serves up composed, articulated dishes, it's a super casual and comfortable place to just hang out and eat some great food. Will definitely be eating here again!
(5)Grammy L.
Really good seafood with a fresh & inventive menu. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the special salad with kale & local tomatoes, steamer clams, baked sea scallops in an excellent cauliflower sauce, the cheese plate and the chocolate layer cake & the blueberry bread pudding. There is a good selection of wines & beer Nice setting on Rockland Harbor. We'll be back!

Delicious scallop dinner! Service was great. Delightful time with a superb dinner made for a wonderful evening. We'll be back. Lyn Esbenson Denver, Colorado

Came 2 years ago and had terrible meal. Under new management, meal was fantastic! Great food, wonderful service (server walked my brother through cracking a lobster) and lovely setting. Was especially good to my 3 year old son. Highly recommend the BLT!
