Also gave tips on lughthoyses to visit, Brwakers Point being one of them. The food was excelkent and prepared as I requested. The sole was fabuloys as was the kale and Brussel spriyts...sautéd beautifully!!!

I have no idea why people are writing bad reviews about this place. I loved it, the seafood was some of the best I've had and I've eaten at a lot of seafood places. I had the seafood enchiladas and they were amazing. The lobster inside was fresh and delicious!! Sat outside with an amazing view of the harbor, and more importantly everyone was really really nice. I will 100% come here again. I think people's expectations are becoming to high when they go out to eat. This isn't a 5 star restaurant but it's a great place to come chill out have a good time and enjoy some great food.

I think the reviews on here totally miss a gem. Food and drink were great. My friend and I both got great drinks...hers was a ginger beer cocktail and mine was an awesome martini. We ended up sharing a dinner salad and the captains platter of all things fried. Let me tell you, the breeding is light and fluffy. The appetizer specials were great too. We ordered a very unique set of mussels with bacon and blue cheese. Super yummy. Highly recommend this gem in rockland.

Came here for a friend when it was her birthday and we had a blast! Sat at the bar for hours (enjoying several drink specials that were MOST excellent) and were well taken care of while we were there. We split the lobster wontons (I think that's what they were) as an appetizer....delicious! I had the scallop special that was cooked to perfection and she had the pork tenderloin special. We gave both two thumbs up. We even indulged in the THE MOST delicious piece of chocolate cake for dessert.....YUMMM!! Yes, it's not cheap - go to a diner if you want cheap. Yes, it's great seafood - it's on the coast of Maine with a million dollar view! Try it - you'll enjoy it - we did!

This is not Rocklands greatest gem by any means but the location is clutch when it comes to the view! Being right on the water is my reasoning behind the 4 stars other wise this would be an easy 3! And basically being in Maine means there is no bad seafood! Grab a lobster roll, mimosa, and sit outside on the deck.

The mostly older crowd seemed to be enjoying their lunches, so maybe we just ordered the wrong stuff. But our server specifically recommended fish tacos and everything about them was awful. The salsa was wrong (red). Lettuce was iffy. Even the fish was disappointing and dry. Service was pleasant enough but not proactive or even that responsive. It was hard getting a water or drink refill, even though the place wasnt especially busy. Another thing I rarely complain about but which bothered me was the state of the bathroom. It's not a horror movie but it's dirty and not well maintained. You walk into this restaurant on the water that looks quite nice, then you're chewing through mediocre seafood, and a bathroom like that just doesnt evoke good thoughts.

We loved it! My husband and I had dinner hear during our honeymoon. We had an adorable little table near the stove and window. We had champagne, lobster, and fish and chips.

I got the Baked Stuffed Haddock and it was absolutely the best meal I have ever had in my entire life! Hands down fantastic food with a phenomenal view but they are pretty pricey. I definitely recommend this to anyone in the area looking for a nice dinner.

A few clients and I came into Archers to check out the place before making a reservation. I was looking for a great place in Rockland for prime rib, and my associate was looking for steamed Lobster. The owner personally informed us there would be prime rib and my client was assured that they would secure a fresh lobster from the lobster man. We booked on that good news and the owners word, this was 1:30pm. Come dinner time our reservation at 7:30 pm I ordered the prime rib I had been salivating for all day, they were sold out, so sorry. Note this was minutes after the owner came by my table and we discussed fresh horseradish for my prime rib. My client ordered his fresh steamed lobster, they checked with the kitchen, no whole lobsters, personally ordered. I at this point don't care what comes to the table, my entire experience is ruined. This place has terrible owners and management. Hopefully they'll learn the power of social media. Do not eat here. You won't get what you ordered. And your word is your bond, they have no honor.

Great location, great seafood, wonderful deck. Have an oyster shooter. My wife loves lobster rolls and has them everywhere. She does not like them cold... But had one here and was blown away! Whoever gave his place three stars or less has their head up their ass according to her!!

Nice lunch at Archer's today. It is winter, but the place is still busy. If it was summer we would be out on the deck, but alas, it is March and there is still a lot if snow! Great lunch and a warm and welcoming environment as usual! A go to spot on the water for us for seafood, all year long!

How can it be said succinctly? A "King Of Lobster Club?" Seriously? Well, it beat the venerable Booby Flay. I know why. This lady, Lynn Archer. She chefs it. Really. Really good, like. This flippin' sandouchi was the size of my head. Three fresh slices of artisan white bread. Toasted lightly. Fresh bacon strips. Fresh tomato. Lettuce, mayonnaise. And LOBSTER SALAD. STRAIGHT away old fashioned. Chopped meat from pound and a quarter lobie, mayonnaise. NO spices, no flavoring. Simply tender chunks of lobster pair amazingly with the thick toasted slices of white bread. The bacon adds the fatty and salty element normally added with melted butter. At $24.95, you're practically buying a steak. But hell, worth every penny. Hands down, best use of lobster ever aside from shelling one yourself and dipping in drawn butter. Well done on this Memorial Day 2011. Add a nice, hearty cup of clam chowder (thick, flavorful and full of clam) and the spectacular view of Rockland Harbor, we have a place to go. The panorama of the Camden hills coupled with the high dock over the water makes this the perfect place to enjoy any summer cocktails or meal. Love it. A lot.

Amazing view. Amazing food! My husband and I shared an appetizer that consisted of bacon wrapped scallops, lobster-risotto cakes, and coconut shrimp. All were great but the lobster cake was out of this world. Husband had the lobster club sandwich, I had the crab version. Both were great! Homemade bread, fresh sea food and crisp bacon. Wow!

If I could give zero stars I would. My wife odered the fried calamari for the table, the plate was only half full and half of what was there was fried banana peppers! Banana peppers....really? And both the peppers and the squid was soggy, no crispness at all. I ordered the ciopino, which was perfectly bland. My daughter had fettuccine alfredo with chichen which she enjoyed. Now the ugly, my wife ordered the duo bucket with fried haddock and scallops. 3 out of the 5 scallops were raw, and I mean RAW! The fish was so soggy that you could barely get it to stay on the fork, it was like a frozen fish then fried. Totally inedible. We sent it back and got a bowl of the chowder, this turned out to be no more then a bowl of warm cream with some potatoes and clam chunks, again inedible. The waitress was nice but far from attentive, and with all the problems we experienced did a manager visit us? Nope, nothing other then some apologies from our waitress. Wouldn't go back there again unless it was free, and maybe not even then.

I am flummoxed by the disparity in stars awarded by the reviewers of this restaurant. We had a fantastic lunch there. (disclaimer: I can't understand why you would go to a waterside restaurant on the Maine coast, and order chicken parmigiana or a steak...unless fish disgusts you, in which case you should vacation in Iowa) Admittedly, the place is not cheap, but look at the frigging location! It's right on the water in a beautiful harbor, it's very clean and well-kept-up, and we had no trouble finding either parking, or a table...all this on a weekend with a blues festival in town. We didn't have appetizers and still left stuffed. My wife ordered a crab club (a lot less $$$ than the lobster version), and I ordered the Blackened Haddock Reuben. My goodness, both sandwiches were delicious, the fish and crab very fresh, and in generous quantities. Our waiter was friendly and efficient, the local beer selection very good (and affordable), and in all we had a great lunch, even without the famous lobster club. Frankly, we would probably go back and have the lobster sandwich based on our first experience...maybe split it after an appetizer or two. In all, a very good experience and we would return.

This is the seafood restaurant that the locals tend to go to, as was suggested to me by the desk clerk at the hotel I stayed at that night. Archer's has a prime location, right on the pier, and is known for its seafood. Of course, one could order something other than seafood at Archers, but I opted for the seafood pie. It's a bit on the pricy side, but well worth ordering, especially with the medley of shrimp, scallops, crab and lobster. They have a decent beer selection as well.

Fine food, great service! Came here after my flight to a Rockland. I had the lobster roll and regular fries.. Excellent. I wanted sweet potato fries but they had run out. Serving size was Hugh. I will definitely return..

  • Bob W.

Perfectly average. The setting is beautiful. The food ranged from good ( fried calamari) to horrible (improbably, the chowder). Keep your expectations modest and you'll have a nice time.

We only had drinks here so I can't comment on the food. We spent some time at the outside bar having drinks during sunset. Great views of Rockland, the lighthouse, and perfect during sunset! Really enjoyed it.

I am a local and eat dinner out most nights. Four of us went to a Saturday night dinner at Archers and it was terrible. Start with the overcooked appetizers, small and mediocre. Move to the salads that were half eaten and then the main courses: not an edible bite. The food was cold and overcooked , even the $30 halibut. The Italian version of lightly broiled fish was as if it had been thrown on the floor and put back on the plate - for both people who ordered this featured dish. Yuck! Avoid or go at your own risk. We are not going back. There are many great restaurants in this area , anyplace would have been better. Too bad, because it has a great view.

    (1)
  • Matt K.

Wife and I split a Caesar salad. Salad was large but unexciting. I had the halibut special with a lemon thyme sauce. Fish could have used more sauce. Halibut had a nice grill flavor but the thicker piece was undercooked. Mashed potatoes were cold Wife had sautéed scallops which were flavorful. Unlike some of the previous reviews service was prompt and efficient. Wine prices are quite good though selection could be broader. This could be a nice places but they need better food. I don't need to come back unless I see some good current yelp reviews.

The risotto is delightful! And don't worry if your not a seafood lover. They have plenty of mouth watering steaks on the menu as well!! The service is outstanding, and the prices are amazing! PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF IT BEING OVERPRICED HAVE CLEARLY NEVER EATEN AT A NICE RESTAURANT IN SOUTHERN MAINE.. And as a bonus to a great meal, the view is to die for!!

I have been to Archers 3 times in 2 weeks, the view and the food drawing me back in. I try not to post reviews until Ive been to a spot 3 times. Each time we were greeted at the door with a cheerful smile and asked where we might like to sit. On all 3 occasions the waitstaff were helpful and able to deal with our silliness. Cudos to Debbie and Amanda. We asked for drinks that actually had alcohol in them and we received. I practically invented a new sandwich and the waitress didnt bat an eye. Haddock Rueben, brilliant! Crab Quesadilla, lots of crab. Burger cooked perfectly.Fish tacos OK but prefer the tacos at HOME Kitchen up the road. If I have anything to criticize it would be the onion strings, little if any onion flavor and greasy. And having lived in NM and AZ, the Mexican rice and salsa need work. I cant wait to go back and keep chipping away at the menu!

  • Dexter M.

The famed King of Clubs sandwich was mediocre and definitely not worth $25. Especially considering the the lobster dinner with two whole lobsters was $21. Too much mayo took away from the natural flavors of the lobster. The skipper sandwich was $ 14 and tasted better. Lightly battered haddock with a peppery crabcake in a kaiser roll was more bang for the buck.

  • Hilary T.

Simply awful. We waited for 30 minutes to even get a server at all and once we did, the service was never great. My appetizer was shrimp cocktail and did not taste fresh. My entree was sautéed lobster and it tasted frozen. No excuse. I love the Brass Compass and this place is owned by the same people, but I guess the jump from lunch to dinner was too hard.

Four of us had dinner here last night to celebrate two birthdays and everything was exceptional from our table out on the deck to our server to the food even to our request to move inside when it started getting cool after dinner. The restaurant was packed, but we were accommodated within about 10 minutes. Throughout the evening servers and even Lynn Archer kept checking back with us. One of our diners had the king prime rib served rare and it was a tasty monster. Two of our diners had the lobster saute which was fresh, loaded with lobster and served with fresh chopped tomatoes in a white wine scampi type sauce. They ate every crumb and raved about it. I had the haddock stuffed with crab and covered with a delicate lobster sauce. It was out of this world and couldn't have been fresher. The sides were also very tasty. For dessert we had a scrumptious Maine blueberry pie served warm with vanilla ice cream and two warm brownie sundaes. We all agreed we'd be back. The prices also seemed very reasonable to us. With drinks, a bottle of wine, dinners and desserts as well as a generous tip our bill was $200.

I am not a happy camper. The service was the worst I ever had in my life. It took 20 min to get me and my sons our drinks . I had to ask the young female hostess about our drinks. I asked the hostess to get us our waitress and I mentioned the fact that we waited 20 min. Also when we first got there and sat outside on the deck my son got cocktail all over himself by a dirty menu she gave him. It was all over the back of the menu. Lots of it ! The waitress took my napkin and my sons and wiped some of it off and said she would be right back with a moist rag and more napkins which she never did . I again saw the hostess and told her I was not pleased...She stated they where short staffed and I explained it was not my fault and I was paying good money for at least "some" service !!! My waitress had a party of 18 near me and she could have cared less about me and my boy's. We where a second thought as far as customers. I overheard on numerous times the party of 18 saying there food was not warm or they got the wrong order or they got something they did not even order. I even heard the party of 18 complain at least 3 times to the waitress about the service and food ! The hostess must have said something to my waitress because she came over and asked if there was a problem and I explained to her I was not happy about what was going on. She to stated they where short staffed and I explained to her that was not my problem. I was not rude in anyway. My boy's noticed I was not happy and they to where questioning why it takes 20 min for a soda or why it took 15 plus minutes for our waitress to come over and ask us what we wanted to drink. The food was ok but nothing stood out that was great. maybe the mood I was in because of the bad dining experience caused me to not enjoy my food. I give yelp reviews a lot and they are usually a 5 star. I can look away from some mishaps during my dining experience but this place took the cake with bad service. It appeared this place was running on automatic pilot and everyone was doing what they wanted to do. Bad organization !!! I did have the crab roll and there where lots of pieces of shells in it. (3 to be exact) If the owner see's my post the make sure you read my other reviews which are usually 5 stars. I went to culinary school and I know how things should be done and this was a bad day dining wise for me and my boys !!! I spent 70 dollars and I left a 20 percent tip in cash.....I'm still wondering why I did that but I feel its the owners fault for not having proper staffing and not the waitress's fault....and the female hostess was running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to do numerous tasks that she could not keep up with including not seating people quickly when the walked in because she was clearing tables or doing something else ! This review is 100 percent accurate !! C-MON...Archer's on the Pier ...pick it up would you !!!! You have a million dollar location !!! And you should have a million dollar properly manned staff ! By the way when I was leaving the parking lot in my car ,two of the ladies that where in the party of 18 where outside in the parking lot complaining about the service and food issues they had....Don't think you want that type of discussion going on in your parking lots with new customers arriving !

The wife and have eaten here two time, both times I have had their shrimp and scallop plate, all I can say is it was the best seafood I have ever had, lightly covered and fried to a golden state, not over done at all! Loved it! It is a little on the pricey side but wort every penny. I know you will like it, you may not know this but the owner beat Bobby Flay in a crab cake cook off (on his TV show) and has been on TV several times cooking. A great chef in her own right!

  • Martha V.

First of all- the view is to die for (and I would die to be on any of those yatchs!). The service was friendly (this is Maine) . Sat at the bar and considered the lobster club but settled for fried clams and scallops (so good, so good, bap bap bap). Sweet and tender! Sisters had the calamari (which I can honestly say would be the last thing I would have ordered- usually pre frozen- slightly bland and batter not great). But overall very good- stick with the fresh stuff!

  • Alice B.

Three of us enjoyed our meals - crab cakes, the special haddock and the special prime rib. Service was good, staff was friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the restaurant.

  • Domino P.

The location is gorgeous. Our waitress was solid in terms of skill and friendly. Food was kind of crummy. the crab roll is $16.99 and that's just too much for crab that was previously frozen. We could tell because it was watery. The fried haddock sandwich was mostly bread and the steamers were filled with black sand that was all over our hands, napkins, the table. It was kind of gross. They need to soak those in water with cornmeal...even novices know that! It's just really overpriced for the low quality food. The men's room was out of hand soap so that says to me that the guys working there don't wash their hands with soap...ew. Our waitress gets one star, the view gets the other star and that's my 2 star review.

We spent a long weekend and ate at several different restaurants in the Rockland area. Then we came here. First, the wait staff was slow. Then, we ordered lobster stew and since we'd heard that sometimes there wasn't any lobster in it, we mentioned we were hoping for lots of lobster meat in it. We also ordered a special of the evening, steamed clams with broth and butter. The lobster stew was as promised, but the clams tasted awful and the broth tasted like dishwasher fluid. It got sent back. We then ordered another special for that night, halibut with a crab risotto. The halibut was acceptable, the risotto a mushy, cold substance. We also ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 plate with clams and scallops. While the scallops were good-sized, we could count the seafood on the plate. The service was slow, it appeared the kitchen had a hard time keeping up with our order, as well as those around us. Won't go back - if we want waterfront dining in that area, go to Amalfi's next door.

This restaurant was recommended to us by friends who lived locally, but unfortunately it is decidedly an average restaurant that is only noteworthy for an almost beautiful view of the harbor. The full view is separated by a pedestrian walkway belonging to the neighboring Yachtclub. The menu is uninspired and simply fried seafood. The only true fish on the menu is fried haddock. One would expect that a restaurant with such a good location would have a finer lunchtime menu with various kinds if wild caught fish. It's typical tourist fare. The servers were pleasant but slow and disorganized. In the category of what this is it deserves three stars but I would not take myself there again.

    (3)
  • Steffen L.

Great view, but you eat better anywhere else. They ignored us, when we leave the restaurant. They recognized that we are tourist and probably never come back.

Group of 4 went to Archers on the Pier mid june on a saturday evening around 530, we were seated right away which was nice. Placed drink orders and waited. The wait staff was horrible. In fact our waitress was rude and didnt seem to try to show her concern for any table. The kitchen staff was yelling at wait staff in open areas which diners could see/hear. We had to get her attention twice while she was on the run. She dropped items off at the table without stopping which was weird. We asked to have the bill split because we had two couples and she said she couldnt do it. NO details she just couldnt do it. Here is the kicker...THE FOOD WAS GOOD! My boyfriend had the haddock rebuen and he enjoyed it as well as I did enjoy the fish tacos. I am not sure if we will return because the serves was so bad. But VIEW and FOOD may warrent another shot

Was there about a week ago with a group of about a dozen who had previously arranged for hors d'oeuvres and a choice of three entrees with a cash bar. The wait staff was fantastic - very attentive but not hovering. Hors d'oeuvres were good but nothing special. Several dinner orders were not correct so the rest of us were almost done by the time their meals arrived. We were given no bread though surrounding tables were served this. When we pointed out these issues we were told the drinks were "on the house". We learned instead the $150 drink bill came out of the waiter's tips. The owner would not honor the "on the house" offer. She was rude and chewed out the waiter in front of several of us. I will not go back. This is not the way to gain customers.

Ok, hands down, after eating at the Pearl and then here (Archers). There's no comparison. Archers is simply classier, and a better restaurant. Firstly service was outstanding, from the bartenders to the waitstaff, always with a helpful hand and a suggestion. The fried clams were right on point, best I ever had. The Lobstah Club Sandwich was to die for, really! They don't really have an eclectic menu, but one that is sustainable and regional for the area. It also fits in with the million dollar view. Archers is a place I would go back to over and over; however, the only difficulty is I live 2000 miles away!

Probably the best meal we had in Rockland and a view that can't be beat. The stuffed haddock in lobster newburg sauce was my favorite dish of many delicious meals on our Maine vacation. The rest of the group enjoyed the prime rib, the sea scallops, and the fried haddock (my mother, ever on the hunt for a bargain, particularly enjoyed the discount "senior 62+ portion"). Service was a little slow, but was more than made up for by a free dessert (blueberry pie . . . mmm) when the waiter forgot to put in one our our orders. Definitely recommend a visit to Archer's while you're in Rockland.

  • Bill A.

I was very disappointed after all the good reviews this place got. Most disappointed in the lobster which was tough and lacking in flavor...for $35.00!! also the baked potato was burnt and the rolls were burnt. The haddock en papoulette was tastless. The special was prime rib and they were OUT of it. I noticed that the waitress never asked us how was our meal!!!

    (2)
  • Kevin J.

It all comes down to service. Great location, great drinks. Horrible service. The food probably would have been great but it was cold when we got it. Our food beat our salads to the table and it was still cold. Waitress told us that that's how it's done. You eat your salad after your meal. RIGHT!!! Good thing we were on vacation and not pressed for time. I ordered a steak medium rare. By the time she brought it to me it had cooked itself cold and was well done. I should have trusted the other reviews on this site.

This was the worst meal we have ever had. We ordered muscles which were bad - seriously they had gone bad. Ordered a vegetable pasta dish which came out overlooked, ziti was mushy, with the bowl full of oil. This restaurant was simply horrible.

  • David K.

Truly one of the worst meals my wife and I have had. Her chicken parm came burnt, dried up and curled up in a ball. The sauce was terrible. I had what was supposed to be broiled haddock, what I got was something close to steamed haddock swimming in water. The only nice thing was the patio. Will never go there again. I would give the place minus 5 stars.

  • Michael R.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. It all started with the service. I sat there for ten minutes before my waitress came over to my table. The restaurant was almost empty. I ordered the broiled haddock and scallops dinner special with a small Caesar Salad. The rolls were not very good, the salad had much too much thick Caesar Dressing on it and the broiled haddock and sea scallops was served in a casserole dish in a 1/3 of an inch of clear mystery steaming liquid. It was pouched not broiled! I complained to the owner and she proceed to speak with her cook. She came back to my table and told me that since it was a slow night, he decided not to turn on their fancy broiler and cooked the dish in the oven in white wine. When I asked why I wasn't informed of this decision by my server when she placed the order, she couldn't answer my question. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this so called restaurant with the beautiful waterfront view.

Don't understand the bad reviews. The place was great. Amazing views. Very pleasant and competent waitress. Excellent drinks. Wonderful food. If there was anything missing, I can't think of what it would be. Thanks for a delightful evening!

Group of 4, got right in with no issues- amazing view! The service was incredible. Our waitress answered any and all questions, and was very respectful of food sensitivities for one member of our party- she (and the chefs) brought out a different app, free of charge, to accommodate the senestivities. The food...wow. Every single thing that we ordered was absolutely amazing- the food and drinks...great. If I lived closer to this restaurant, I would visit more often. One of the best dining experiences of my life. I highly recommend eating here!
